I read the reviews before I booked here. I was here for a business trip and my client and I needed to be mindful of our expenses. So my client stayed down the road at the Renaissance hotel, which is a fabulous hotel and you could read my review About it. And I stayed here at the Ponce hotel.
I want to cautiously use the phrase "you get what you pay for" That is true, and that phrase is mostly used as a diminishment or put down of an establishment. In this case you you're trying to maintain a budget and don't want to overpay to sleep when you're not gonna be in your room all day, and so can you still receive great service and great value? Here, YES!!
What the staff is able to do with what they have here at the Ponce is very impressive. The service providers at all levels made me feel like I made a great choice while being mindful of my expenses.
The front desk host where always courteous and polite. There is chocolate chip cookies. They have out for free for guest as they check in or come back from the evening in the historic district. In the mornings, they have nice, hot, free coffee.
The rooms are solid. They aren't the Biltmore, but they aren't any worse from a decent embassy suites, or a nice mid range. Best western. Granite bathroom sinks, stone tile floors. "(Which in humid Florida feel funky to walk on barefoot because everything has humidity on it. And so you feel the dirt you may bring in in your shoes. So to avoid that dirty feeling of the floors, I took off my shoes by the door. And used the bathroom floor towel to clean the area I would walk from bed to bathroom, barefoot. You're welcome to bring your own flip-flops or slippers if that would concern you.)
I am 6 foot three and the bad fit me perfectly. I had seen all the reviews where people took pictures of the sheets, so I looked closely when I arrived, and saw no issues of past guest, bodily fluids, hair, or anything else. It was a clean , comfortable enough, big, soft, cozy pillows, and nice large comforter bed.
The air conditioning was able to be on all night without sounding like you had a wind tunnel in your room. It was great. The outlets were generous. And the shower pressure was perfect. And they provided different liquid soaps and conditioners. It absolutely does the job for the long weekend traveler, or the business traveler.
And the room service ladies also said hello to you with big friendly smiles.
I absolutely recommend this hotel, which is just under a mile from the historic district.
Can you walk there from here, yes, you could. It's not a bad or unsafe walk at night, but I wouldn't recommend it because you go through some darker areas, or along the highway. An Uber from the historic District to hear is gonna cost you right about $10. That's what it cost me for four different rides.
And the Colombian restaurant that is in the lobby of the hotel is awesome. Been from Los Angeles. We have great diversity of Latin restaurants. This Colombian restaurant was spot on in the great flavors and authenticity of their food. The staff is super friendly. I was served by two young ladies on Friday night, and a very polite and hustling young man on a Sunday morning.
Grading their performance based on what I selected them for, a solid five out of five stars for my experience.
Thank you Ponce Hotel.
