I'm going to start off with the honest truth, this place wanted to be nice. If we were simply looking at the cosmetics, 3.5 out of 5. Not too many leaves on the course, greens were fast and the views were pretty decent. But let's get into the nitty gritty.
Show up 20-25 minutes early. I was running low on balls and tees, figured I'd pick some up from the club house. My partner forgot his clubs at his parents many hours away. The pro shop attendant was busy, which I can understand. However the pro shop was super small, paid 30 dollars for a pack of balls because they had no second hand balls, they had 0 tees in stock, and didn't rent any clubs. To top it off this is a course with 3 separate 9 hole courses labeled in colors very similar to the ones at the tee box and we received 0 directions on where we were supposed to start.
So we get our outdated cart that didn't even have a place to store balls, unless it was under the steering column? Anyway drive around for a bit attempting to find where we are supposed to start before I finally ask another golfer, make it to the first tee, still 10 minutes before our tee time, wait another 40 minutes before we finally tee off.
It took 5.5/6 hours for us to play and he didn't play 11 of them. The carts were old, the pro shop was under stocked and the course seemed all over. There was no beer cart, no options for food, and even if there was we felt like were taking so long that we couldn't have stopped without taking even longer. For the price, highly recommend Rum River and the Refuge, far better experiences. Maybe it was a fluke, but it didn't seem so. The only thing that seemed to save it was the couple holes that had some beautiful views.
To be clear, the only reason this course is receiving 2 stars is because I was shocked how few leafs were on the course and how the actual greens felt while we were putting.
