This is a very nice restaurant. Looks clean and cozy. Everything on the menu sounded good. I ordered the wagyu burger and fries and my friend got the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The good looked good and tasted delicious. But once we received our food and drinks that's the last we seen our server. No check ins or refills. That was disappointing. Table had 5 plates 5 sets of silverware and 5 glasses on it when we sat down. They were never removed. Sat on the table our whole visit.

We came hear to eat with a bunch of people (~20) after a conference at CMU. We had our own two tables. The place was buzzing, but it was still quiet enough to talk. The food itself was excellent. Service was kind and attentive.

Smaller portions and higher prices, but very delicious food. Best place to take friends or family when in Oakland. I love their pizzas.

Chose the porch for dinner as day one of my husband showing me around Pittsburgh. Since it was almost move in day I suppose more people were there than normal, and they were severely understaffed. Everything took forever to come out, be it menus, utensils, water. But they were very apologetic and we understood. Anyway, we started with calamari, which was very very salty. Ended up getting the steak after, which was SO good. The best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had! Husband had the burger which he ate in under a minute. Great place to take the parents, highly recommend.

Went for happy hour. The pizza was so good we forgot to take a picture. The crust was thin in middle and thick at the end baked just right. Stuffed with veggies then topped with lots of cheese. The flavors were plentiful. The pizza was served on a tray with crushed red peppers, oragano and parmesan cheese. Well done! The IPA was served in a pint glass lots to choose from and $2 of happy hour. Highly recommend The Porch

Nice to have a quick lunch. Nice view with freedom to sit wherever you want to sit (patio area is available) 1. Line up to order and pay. The menu is by the counter. 2. Order and get the e-bell with number 3. Take your cutlery and water 4. Sit wherever you want 5. Wait till the e-bell is blinking. (Means your foods are ready) 6. Staff will bring your foods to the table 7. Enjoy your foods 8. Leave the plates. Someone will clean it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing experience at The Porch at Schenley! I ordered the biscuits and gravy and my wife had the banana French toast, both dishes were absolutely incredible. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. What really stood out, though, was the service. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. Easily a 10 out of 10 experience. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks Erin!

Great local bar (restaurant) with the friendliest folks. Brittany was so warm & engaging. And we sat at the bar with a very nice bartender who was welcoming & took our order while helping his teammates with their service bar orders. Great at multitasking! Definitely will be going back when in town.

Listen. This is what it is. It's Eat N Park w a cute name. It's not making promises to be exceptional, they're offering an amazing location, fast service, good people want for meals and to get in & our. It's great. Prices are reasonable and the location is great. Meals are always consistent. That's the thing. It's not the coolest and trendiest of places but they deliver in providing a great experience, fast, and delicious.

Definitely fit the bill as a meeting place for a small group of us gathering for a concert at the Carnegie Music Hall, which is a 2-3 minute walk away. Unfortunately they don't take reservations so we took a slight risk that they'd be able to accommodate us, little to worry about- it's a fairly large space with lots of seating. Additionally, there is outside seating. There were plenty of kind servers that were efficient. There are also plenty of food and drink options, not so many that were on happy hour deals. We ordered a pizza and tater tots which are not traditional tater tots but, rather, little red potatoes- good, but not tater tots. The pizza was pretty good.

I stopped by around 5pm for dinner with a friend on Tuesday and we were able to be seated immediately. We split a salad, a pizza, and a dessert and we had a drink each. Our pizza and salad were pretty good and so were our drinks and dessert although they gave us the wrong dessert. There's a ton of seating both inside and outside with a good amount of natural lighting due to all the windows. The Porch is a solid option if you need a meal near Pitt's campus.

Third visit with my friend: We both love the creamy spinach quiche best, which is my first experience to enjoy a quiche! The margherita pizza has crunchy edge, which is a good point, but I always prefer a pizza topping with veggie and protein.

Another great meal at the porch! I've been to lunch many times, but I enjoyed going at dinner because our server was so Efficient and kind! We had the wings - 9/10 - would give a 10 if there were few more! Great sauce selections and SO crispy and well seasoned! We got two pizzas - the porch supreme and the rosemary ham and butternut squash. Both were delicious but the ham and squash stole the show. This is wood fired pizza that just tastes so good - charred bottom and chewy crust!

We came here for lunch and overall this was a really rough experience. I ordered a tea and was told they were totally out. Service was pretty non existent. Once we were able to order our food- we waited over an hour for it (I wish this was an exaggeration). We were told the chefs went on break after we ordered- which makes zero sense why they didn't have any chefs working, but I digress. when we got the food the crust was burned and it was really tough. Even with the "chefs on break" our waiter really didn't come by and check on us at all. The restaurant was a nice location but overall I wouldn't care to go back.

I recently went back to the Porch at Schenley and had a much better experience than the last time I was there (in December 2022). Our service was great, drinks were delicious, and the pizza never disappoints. We sat outside and it was super lovely. They also had live music the night we were there to add to the ambiance. It feels like the Porch has redeemed themselves and I'm so happy about that!

I mean. I always enjoy the food at The Porch. It's one of my favorite places to visit in Pittsburgh. Came here after a visit to the Carnegie museum. We were seated as soon as we walked in , not a long wait. We had the barbecue chicken pizza and order a cheese pizza for our toddler son which he loved. We also had a Caesar salad which was so yummy to accompany our pizza.

Friendly staff but It's the waiting that's the hardest part. Came on a Sunday in July around 1 pm. No wait to get a table, but waited almost an hour to get three simple meals. Great location, nice atmosphere, but we won't be back.

Service was a bit slow, but understandable because they were busy. Very friendly waitstaff. Yummy lobster mac and cheese. You have to try to Firefly Fries!! Super awesome outdoor seating options, and the TV was playing the Olympics opening ceremonies. Go USA! There was a guy in a Rutgers hat near where we sat. Go Scarlet Knights!

Was in town for work and met a colleague (who I had not previously met) here for dinner before our work started the next day. It was okay. We both commented on how nice the server was but the food was meh. Like so average that just a few days later I can't even remember what I had. The space is nice. Loud. I'd go back as there was little else around.

A good restaurant on the U of Pitt campus. It's a bit pricey, and probably more of a place that parents take their kids to when they are in town visiting. The food was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed my teriyaki chicken. It was very tasty! My son had the burger which he really enjoyed. For dessert, I went with the Apple Streusel, which was also really good. It's very open and rather loud inside, especially when they have someone there playing live music. Service was just ok, but slower than I would have liked and I often had an empty glass. It got a little better as the night went on and the place was starting to empty out. Would definitely go back next time I'm in the area as the food was really good!

First time it's a very complicated to write a review I would love to put more stars but since I got a table at the porch I was ignored for a wild. First cocktail didn't have any alcohol and the second one too vodka streight. Finally the waiter did a great job! They missed up our food order and he came with a free French fries (I mentioned before that I'm really hungry). I got a Bella pizza and my friend margarita. Not impressed at all honestly. I would definitely say if you are tired and hungry after visiting a museum it's a good spot to go.

I chose this restaurant because of its great location and outdoor seating, but unfortunately, I won't be returning. Yesterday, a friend and I visited, we were seated promptly, and attended to by a seemingly friendly waiter. When we ordered drinks, he requested our IDs, which we showed him without hesitation. He looked at my Canadian driver's license and mistakenly asked if it was from Washington State. I corrected him, saying, "It's from Canada." He told me that they don't accept international IDs, only U.S. government-issued IDs or passports. Then asked if I had my passport with me, I replied that I didn't, as this had never been an issue in Pittsburgh before. He continued, questioning if a passport was needed to cross the border. I said yes, but explained I don't carry it around. The waiter said the restaurant is on the Pitt campus, there are a lot of fakes and PA law mandates they only accept international passports. My friend, trying to help, mentioned that we were doctors and offered to prove it via a website, but the waiter remained firm. It's hard to believe that I was the first Canadian to the grace this establishment. So, I politely asked to speak with the manager. The manager reiterated the waiter's stance, citing PA law, stating they needed to be careful because "of the diversity and ethnicity that CMU brings", but offered to make an exception for me. I couldn't help but feel like a white Canadian would not have had this experience. And that the explanation of diverse students would not have been to someone who didn't look like me. She reexamined my driver's license, & decided it was valid by her standards. When the waiter came back to take my drink order, my friend and I researched the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's identification policies and found Canadian driver's licenses are in fact acceptable. When the waiter returned with my drink, I asked to speak to the manager again to show her the law, hoping to prevent future misunderstandings. About 20 minutes later, the waiter returned, informing me that the manager had left for the night (it was 7:30 pm). I asked if I could show him the information, but he rudely interrupted me, saying, "Can I look at it later? I'm really busy." He never returned to check the information. Towards the end of our evening, another staff member approached, asking if everything was alright, mentioning he had heard about the ID issue. He then revealed that the manager had indeed checked and found that Canadian licenses are acceptable. Despite learning this, no one from the staff apologized for initially refusing to serve me or for making me feel at fault. The entire experience was unsettling. I can't help but perceive this as an act of racism. I sincerely hope that international students and visitors at CMU and Pitt do not encounter such discrimination.

I loved this burrata salad from The Porch! It's very flavorful with a big ball of burrata, homemade croutons, sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, grilled chicken, & kale pesto on a bed of arugula. They top it off with a honey balsamic dressing made with honey collected from their own on-site bee farm! It was a perfect mix of light & bright but still filling. I paired it with a glass of Pinot Grigio for a lovely meal on a surprisingly warm February evening (spring is coming!). Service was attentive & fairly quick. The indoor ambiance was nothing special necessarily, but the booth in which we were seated was comfy. Unfortunately for some of the people I went with, however, they were out of a ton of the drink options - none of the non-alcoholic mocktails were available nor were some of the wines. Overall, though, it was a decent spot (especially for being on a college campus), and it's a good staple to have near work! Food: A- Drinks: B- Service: B Ambiance: C

I love the vibes of The Porch with all of the natural light & a nice patio. They're currently under construction & making a 3-season patio so I'm excited to check that out! The Porch has a nice happy hour (4:30-6:30pm) and nightly specials. Wednesdays are one pizza & a bottle of wine for $30! My friend & I split the burrata salad as an appetizer. Our server was friendly enough to bring us grilled bread for the burrata (it doesn't usually come with that). It was great and would definitely get again! I had the Bianca pizza which was a combination of all of my favorite things (goat cheese, fig jam & truffle oil). It was good! The dough could've been cooked a little more in my opinion. My friend enjoyed her prosciutto and peach pizza. The Porch is easy to find in Oakland but parking is always testy lol. I was lucky enough to find a spot nearby but that's usually not the case.

This is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh - I will always grab a meal here when I'm in town! I love that they locally source their food & have a rooftop garden for herbs as well as their own bees for honey. The cast iron corn bread and chopped salad are my go tos, they never miss! The sides rotate around depending on the season, and I loved the Mexican street corn. Decent amount of cocktails available, but I love the porch pink lemonade.

I found the food to be very average and unimpressive. The location is pretty good, and I've had dinner here a few times, but it's been sort of a let down each time. A few days ago, I went back, just for a quick snack and dessert. Once again, it was still a disappointment. I tried their bread pudding dessert. Just recently, I had some excellent bread pudding from Kaya. Porch's version of this dessert doesn't come close. It had some walnuts but that was the only unique element to it. It was dry, not that sweet, had no sweet sauce. Not much flavor in general. All in all, not great desserts, and from what I remember about the dinners also served here, they aren't that great either. Probably won't be returning. Only thing nice is the area and outdoor seating/atmosphere.

This place is a cool spot, fun atmosphere. Service was mediocre. They told us it would be a 30 minute wait but we only waited 10. Once we sat down our server was quick to take our order. We got our appetizer quickly but this is where it went south. The main course took FOREVER. The server was nice enough to bring out the kids meal as soon as it was ready as she could tell our kids were getting restless. But mine and my husband's food took almost 45 minutes. We appreciated the server bringing the kids meal so fast but after that we were an after thought to her. The whole time we waited for our food she didn't once check in on us. We sat there with no refills and waited, very frustrating. Food was good but the overall experience was a major let down.

I really like the Porch at Schenley. I came on a Friday night with my boyfriend and it was PACKED. Like I wasn't even sure we could get in, but they sat us right away. The vibe was casual and lively. The waiter was very attentive to our table even with it being so busy. I ordered the seasonal margarita for a drink. It was watermelon flavored and I was afraid it was going to be too sweet, but no. It was delicious and very refreshing! We shared the firefly fries for an appetizer and they were good! I would definitely order the fries again. For my main course I had the peach and prosciutto pizza. It was pretty good, but not my favorite pizza. It was very different with the peaches. I'm not sure if I liked the peaches on it though... still deciding if I am a fruit on pizza fan haha! All in all for the price and quality of the food and drinks, The Porch at Schenly is a solid resturant.

We had a very bad experience today. We waited an hour to get our food, it was just ok. Not great. And not put together with any sense of care. We had high hopes and we're disappointed. The quiche was fine but why did it take an hour to heat up a small slice of quiche you cooked this morning? It was served carelessly with three handfuls of field greens that looked like they were dumped out of the box. There were no vegan options. The veggie burger was mushy and poorly seasoned. The Pizza was tough . The French fries were the best part of the meal and the service was mediocre. You can do better.

Was craving risotto and scallops and they came through with flying colors! Nice outside seating, comfortable indoors, great drinks!

Stopped by prior to a Pitt basketball game Had heard good reviews We were seated at a high top in the bar The bartender was our waiter as well He was overwhelmed, busy and stopped by 20 mins after we were seated to take our order 10 mins later we received our drinks They have a brick fire pizza oven, so sounded like a good choice Also ordered wings Wings come unsourced ...they were boring The buffalo sauce was too creamy, the BBQ sauce was tasty The pizza was "ok" and undercooked ...yup fire pizza oven pizza under cooked It worked for the evening, but no need to revisit, completely underwhelming

My wife and I and My daughter and new fiancee all went out to dinner to celebrate engagement. The restaurant chosen by my daughter was The Porch. The staff where fast and very friendly. The porch is located in a beautiful area with benches outside to see the views. If it was not so cold we all would have stopped to spell the roses LOL. I ordered a beef dip which is also known as a french dip and french fries. The beef dip was really good not the best I have had but good. The only negative for me was that they did not have any Corona which is my favorite beer. I decided on a stella which was ok but not to my liking. Overall I liked the Porch and would recommend it to all. I would go back again in the future.

This is a great treasure in Pittsburgh, the atmosphere, service, and food is truly amazing and top shelf

Great location. Nice atmosphere and ambiance inside. However, I think my order got lost in the mix. I was quickly seated and my order taken, but it took 40+ min to receive a salad with chicken. Others near me that had arrived after me received their food before me. I was just touring campus while my daughter was at a Pitt sports camp so it wasn't a big deal. Had it been under different circumstances I may have been more upset. The server offered a complimentary dessert and was very apologetic, which kind of made up for it. The salad was delicious and worth the wait. I think it was just an unfortunate accident and would consider returning if we were in the area again.

the porch is always a pleasant dining experience with consistent food and service. it's usually quite busy on the weekends, but the staff are super great at managing wait times and getting people seated. i've tried a lot of different menu items, most of which are just okayyy (and slightly overpriced for what is just especially basic american staples) but the pizza is always an excellent option and one that i will always gravitate towards.

Hard to find street parking, but quick to get a table! The avocado toast was very fresh and flavorful! The lobster mac was very light, but the flavors didn't mesh well together. The restaurant was very bright and very busy! The staff was bustling around and took great care of us. Can't wait to return!

Went on Easter at 7pm. No line. Not packed. Good service. Came when needed. Gave us water and glasses. Refilled water when needed. Got the angus steak and tators and lamb kebabs. The potatoes were the best part! Steak was cooked medium as asked. Well lit for the ambience.

All pitt students have been here at least once because it's so convenient. I've been here probably several time and even when it's busy it's good! All wait staff I've had was very nice and fast. The food is always good. I did run into having sort of pinker chicken then I would have wanted when I ordered the sesame garlic chicken dish but I order is all the time and it's usually fine. I think all the food I've tried is good! The inside is clean and very nice and I always recommend this place.

My husband and I came here when visiting Pittsburgh this weekend and now I know why there was a line of people waiting to get in 15 minutes before The Porch opened. As soon as we walked in, I fell in love with this place. The music, seating and friendly staff are all reason enough to come back...but the food absolutely blew me away! I got the avocado toast and my husband got the burrito. The portions were huge but we still ate almost every bite. (It was too good not to!) If I'm ever in Pittsburgh again, I will absolutely be back.

I have been to this location of the Porch before and had just been to the one at Siena but this experience at Schenley was sub par. I had taken family in from out of town who was visiting Pitt for potential admission. Anyhow we arrived and I come to find we have to order at a counter and sit wherever we can find a spot. Our food also took 45 mins to come and I ordered a sandwich and the fries were cold. I actually went inside because we were outside to search for our order. I'll give them points for a gluten free bun. There were also a lot of tables that needed to be cleaned and then birds were eating food that has been left behind. I am not sure if this seat yourself is a new thing and I am a little over it but if this going to be the case they could at least put QR codes on the tables.

The Porch is sooooo cute! Love this spot! Great local and fresh food, refreshing drinks, and great services. You won't be disappointed- check em out!

Stopped by for a few quick drinks. They have a little outdoor bar area which was perfect for us. They always have nice ambiance and it was nice to just sit by the bar and have a few drinks. They have a small selection of draft beers, a few locals and I tried their blackberry mojito which was good. Still a little pricey but I still like the convenience of the location and ambiance.

I loved it. The menu isn't extensive enough and the drinks weren't quite strong enough for it to get 5 stars but overall, this is a solid place with good service, decent food and in a prime location if you're visiting your family at UPitt. I'm surprised this place isn't crowded every day. Then again, college students are usually broke. I'll be sure to steer clear on move out and move in days. On a beautiful warm day, sit outside! There's plenty of green space and the beautiful library in the distance. Inside, the restaurant is airy and bright. The drink menu is decent. You can find all the classics. I'll definitely go back to keep trying different menu items. The food is solid. I've been twice. I've had a burger which was delicious and a pizza which was very good. This place is a safe bet. It's not a foodies dream spot but its good enough to satisfy many types of cravings you might have.

When I came here for lunch, little did I know it was accepted students day at UPitt, so it was a mob scene. To make matters worse, the restaurant operated quick service style. In theory, you'd order and find a place to sit, but because of the crowds, we were stuck waiting not only for our food, but for table to sit at. Plus, you could tell the waiters were struggling. Truthfully, I think regular table service would have made the place way less chaotic. Anyways, as for the food, it was good. My chopped salad was a little boring, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. And while waiting and staring at other tables' food, I can tell they have some pretty tasty sides. Although I wasn't blown away with my own dish, I'd still return because the great atmosphere and location.

Mother's Day brunch 2023...what a fabulous place to spend a sunny Sunday! We arrived right at opening and were promptly seated inside by the window where we could overlook the park. We started with some adult beverages and there was a free mimosa for moms (delicious)!! My daughter ordered the specialty peach pizza and it was delightful. It was not too sweet and a perfect brunch food. I had the sausage gravy with biscuits and only ate half because we started to see all of the tables around us getting skillets of cinnamon rolls and we didn't was to miss out. They were good. The only thing that we didn't like is that they were finished in the pizza oven and were a little crispy.

The porch is a convenient place to have a meal and has been so over the years we patronized the place. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and service declined. The beer selection and bar remains quite satisfactory. The wait time just to place an order was excessive even though we visited off hours between lunch and dinner. The place was hardly full. Once we placed the order, we waited a fair amount of time to receive the meal. This may be somewhat excusable as one item was pizza that takes a while. The accompanying sandwich was barely warm and nothing special. The location is outstanding for those visiting University of Pittsburgh but next time, we will walk a few blocks to the student ghetto or up Forbes Avenue for a more interesting meal.

The best place in Oakland! The atmosphere is open and inviting! Great place to take parents in town visiting, or go out with friends for a nice meal. The food is always delicious. You can't go wrong with the pizzas, the toppings change for each season but they are all delicious! The margarita pizza is simple yet perfectly cooked. The wait staff couldn't be nicer and always checks back to ensure you have everything! I got the French dip last time, and it was cooked to perfection. If you go for brunch the Bloody Mary's are my favorite in the city. The only thing I've ever ordered on the menu that I haven't loved is the breakfast burrito, it was bland. But everything else comes out piping hot and cooked perfectly. Great price point for the quality of food and the ambience offered.

Great location and fun atmosphere. The Caesar salad was good and fresh. The wings were decent. Except that I asked them to be double cooked and they weren't. Our server was kind but it seemed like he had too many tables and we sat 15 min before we were acknowledged and then service was extremely slow. I'll definitely give it another try.

I continue to be impressed by this restaurant. A girlfriend and I opted for this tried and true venue for a gal's night out as a Superbowl alternative. It was Sunday, so parking was free along the streets bordering the restaurant. No reservations were required, but the place had plenty of patrons filling the ample space. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Audrey was our server and the absolutely best server ever with her enthusiasm, friendliness, and efficiency. She informed us of a particularly inviting special dinner for two -- a Valentine's special for 80 dollars, which included choice of salads or soups, entrees, dessert, and a bottle of wine. We each selected a Farro salad (divine), entrées of steak with asparagus and lobster Mac n cheese, Chardonnay, and a fancy chocolate dessert to share. All were presented so eye appealing and tasted wonderful. The steak melted in my mouth. On top of that, we had each ordered one of the drink specials before ordering dinner, one with pomegranate, one with champagne. Both were downright pretty and refreshing. Can't say enough praises to the chef and Audrey, our server. This continues to be one of my all-time fav restaurants, and in warm weather, there is plenty of outdoor seating, and the nearby gardens are fun to explore.

30 mins on the waitlist. Another 15 mins to catch the server's attention after being seated, and another 45 mins to get average brunch food. Not worth the wait.

We waited 1 hour 16 minutes from the time the server took our order and the food arrived. The server was standing around half the time and not once did he check to see if we needed more coffee, drinks or water. The food was so-so. Not going back.

Came back here for the first time in a while and had a great brunch experience! They have lovely outdoor seating for the occasion, with a mostly-shaded patio. They don't take reservations but we got there right at 10 when it opened and had no wait for a table of four. The food is all very standard fare but it's tasty and very reasonably priced. We started with an order of biscuits, which were very large and far too much even for four people. Yummy though! I ordered the house omelette, which was lighter and came with greens and tomatoes inside. My wife got the chicken and waffle platter, which she quite enjoyed. Both came with a very generous side of potatoes. I know it's just potatoes, but these were good! Whole potatoes (not fake-looking home fries) served with a smoky ketchup that almost tasted like barbecue sauce. As a bonus, they set us up with a high chair for our 1-year old and let us order a very small scrambled egg for her. Overall a really nice brunch experience.

I was exploring the area and decided to stop here for dinner! I got seated really quickly on a weekend night and tried one of their seasonal items, the chicken madeira pasta. It was basically pappardelle with peas/asparagus in madeira sauce topped with 2 chicken breast pieces. The pasta itself was cooked al dente and loved how it wasn't too thick. I always thought madeira sauce was a red wine mushroom sauce but their version was more creamy in nature, which I still very much enjoyed! Their asparagus pieces were nicely cooked, not mushy but not too raw. The chicken breast pieces were juicy and very well-seasoned! There was extra cheese on top of the protein. I also got a side of cauliflower gratin. Their take on it was roasted cauliflower with a layer of a melted cheddar sauce on top. The cauliflower was also nicely done - well-seasoned and cooked thoroughly but not too mushy. The Porch seemed pretty popular with the locals and the restaurant itself was pretty cute with the lights. It was spacious with lots of seating options (regular tables, couches, high top tables, bar side seating, outdoor). Food came out quick and my server was pretty nice!

I really like the porch for lunch! This place has great ambiance, and is located centrally at Pitt's campus. There is a lot of natural light and windows which is a big plus for me. During lunch you order at the counter and wait for your food to be brought to you, which can take some time. During dinner it is full service. Depending on how busy they are it can be a bit slow, but the food is always tasty. I particularly love the truffle burger, firefly fries, and the chopped salad.

Top notch food, generous servings, superb service...and all within view of all the amazing attractions.

Great location for summer brunch with a fantastic view. I recommend getting outdoor seating. Things you should know: I. PARKING We found plenty of available street parking in front of the restaurant.
