I finally got a chance to stop at The Pork Pit in Montego Bay and it lived up to all the hype. The moment I walked in, the smell of pimento wood smoke hit me and I knew I was in for a treat. I ordered the jerk pork with festival on the side, and honestly, it was some of the most tender, flavorful pork I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned, smoky, and juicy—it’s the kind of food that makes you slow down and enjoy every bite.
The vibe is very casual and down-to-earth. You sit at picnic tables under shade, surrounded by locals and visitors all digging into their meals. It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t need to be—the food speaks for itself. The service was quick and friendly, and the portions were generous for the price.
I also tried a bit of the jerk chicken, and it was excellent too, but the pork is definitely the star here. The festival bread was warm and slightly sweet, the perfect partner to balance out the spice.
If you’re in Montego Bay and want a real taste of Jamaica, The Pork Pit is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip!
