"As the centerpiece of the Shanghai Center complex on Nanjing Road, the 45-story Portman Ritz-Carlton melds contemporary Chinese with traditional European-style decor. Textiles in guest rooms echo the materials used in the qipao . Accommodations in light browns and creams also have 300-thread-count bed linens, and down pillows and duvets. Rooms feature modern Chinese decor, bathrooms with sliding rosewood doors, and Asprey Purple Water amenities. A traditional candle-lighting ceremony takes place in the lobby to re-create a ritual held in big mansions in the era before electricity. At the Ritz Kids Academy, children can take classes on social etiquette, covering such key subjects as table posture, tea manners, and self-confidence."

Absolutely LOVED this hotel. The service was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we felt it was excellent value for the money. We had breakfast daily at the hotel (nice choice of Asian, Western foods), explored the city because the location is really good, and also used the gym and spa - both great. Will definitely come back. And will stay at Ritz when we go to Beijing, based on service here.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The room was spotlessly clean and well-maintained, with a plush bed that ensured a restful night’s sleep. The staff Michael helps a lot, staff overall incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service from check-in to check-out. The breakfast buffet impressed me with its wide variety of both Western and Chinese dishes. Plus, the hotel’s central location made getting around a breeze. Great value for money—I’d highly recommend it for business trips or vacations!

Last week, I made an appointment with three or five friends for the terrace of Riz, just before the start of the plum rain season. With the cool breeze blowing, Riz's special - crafted wines and delicious foods made the experience simply perfect. Vanessa Xu from the Marketing Communications Department provided excellent service during the reservation and the meal. I have always thought that Riz is a hotel with an excellent location, top - notch facilities, and great service. In particular, Vanessa's service was meticulous and thoughtful, exceeding expectations! I sincerely recommend that Riz's terrace offers the most beautiful urban night view of Shanghai. Accompanied by delicious food and wine, it is an excellent experience for a night gathering!

Lovely grand hotel centrally located in the city. One of the older hotels, but the rooms are well maintained (only minor negative are the relatively small shower stalls). What elevates it from other luxury hotels is the lovely Club Lounge with 5 full meal presentations daily (you won’t even need to consider dining outside - although you should check out the various dining options if new to Shanghai). Ritz-Carlton Club Lounges worldwide (at least the ones I’ve had the pleasure of visiting) are truly impressive and worth the upgrade. Shout out to the great Club Lounge team including Tina, Kevin, Lisa, Ruby etc for their excellent service.

Is a very nice hotel and easy to go around. I could find a lot of shopping malls with nice restaurants and good food. Not too far from tourist spots like temples and the staffs is very helpful to give me directions. The room is spacious and clean and comfy and the food in the hotel is delicious especially the local Shanghai cuisine. I love the bar which I can enjoy a drink after my busy schedule of the day. Love this place and sure will come back!

During our recent visit to Shanghai, we stayed at the Ritz Carlton, a fabulous hotel with fantastic service. The Room was spacious and quiet, featuring clean and immaculate bathrooms. Evening turndown service was provided, and the breakfast spread was exceptional. The concierge, bellhop, and doorman were all incredibly helpful, making stay thoroughly enjoyable. We will certainly choose this hotel for next trip. It is worth noting that this complex houses Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, and a Steakhouse, all offering full bar. We thoroughly loved the place and a wonderful stay.

My go to ladies that are always helpful are Tina, Ruby and the manager Aileen without their help my stay would not be as nice so thank you.

Just had an amazing stay at The Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai with my girlfriend! The service was top-notch—every staff member went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. The decor is stunning, so luxurious and elegant. Special shoutout to Yuki from Guest Recognition! She was incredibly attentive and even told us about the custom room key service. Now we have a unique keepsake with our names on it. Made our trip extra special!
