I wanted to induldge in a nice meal on my holidays in Bamburgh and i decided to come here. I must say it is some of the nicest food I have tried. Even the chips were so tasty which is hard to find nice chips in a lot of restaurants 😋. They staff are very kind. I Will be back next year and i am definitely getting a whole loster next time and not just half!! 😊 .. it certainly helped become part of why I have fallen in love with Bamburgh! 🧡

Incredible - again! My partner and I came once before on a previous trip to Bamburgh Castle, we found ourselves back in Northumberland this month and HAD to come back to The Potted Lobster. Food is absolutely delicious and such amazing value for money. The staff are absolutely lovely and service is brilliant. So many specials on each time, feels like the chefs have such a passion for what they’re making. Already planning our next trip!

As a tourist being guided by locals, it was such a treat to have them steer me towards the Potted Lobster. Fabulous food, very fresh fish, crackling seasoning, and a cosy night in after a long (and lovely) day on the cold and windy beach, I can't express how delightful it was to be there! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and despite our large appetites we were full up quite quickly due to the generous portion sizes and array of dishes to try. I don't remember the name of it unfortunately but I indulged in a lovely chardonnay when I was there, which was a treat as well. Thanks again to the chef and staff -- I can't wait to visit again!

We’re were all looking forward to try some seafood and lobsters here during our holiday here. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had fried squid, scallops and cod cheeks for starters. Then we had lobsters, plaices and halibut for mains. They were all tasty and fresh but we were not impressive. In addition they forgot the vegetables that came with the plaice so we had to remind them. The vegetables were nice but the beans were not trimmed. For deserts we had some lemon tart, tiramisu and chuck bun with chocolate and they were delicious. We did enjoy it but considered the price and the overall taste of the food, I would give it 4 stars.

My partner, our dog, and I had the pleasure of dining at The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh, and we couldn't have been more impressed with the experience. We had originally hoped to visit their sister restaurant in Abersoch the previous week, but unfortunately, it was fully booked. That only heightened our anticipation for this visit, and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality, which set the tone for the entire meal. The restaurant’s cozy, yet stylish atmosphere made it clear that it was a place where attention to detail mattered. It’s always a bonus when you’re made to feel so welcome, especially when you’re bringing your dog along. The staff were incredibly accommodating, ensuring our furry friend was just as well taken care of as we were. The service throughout the meal was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive. The staff seemed genuinely invested in making sure we had a pleasant experience, which made a big difference. Their friendliness and professionalism made the visit feel even more special, and it’s clear that they care deeply about creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests, including those with pets.

I was very excited for this meal when I planned my day trip to Bamburgh, and sorry to say I was disappointed with the food. The desserts were delicious (my husband especially loved his passionfruit posset), but the main entree was average. The Cullen skink was very bland. The seafood linguini was ok, but very lemony (and the sauce was not very thick). Not quite worth the price in my opinion. Definitely recommend reservations (we were very lucky to arrive early and were able to be seated, but saw others try to walk-in and be turned down). The wait staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is very nice.

Ignore the online menu. This is a seafood restaurant and most of the fish dishes are written on the specials boards. I've included the mains and starters boards for the day I visited. Friendly service and excellent food. I had the grilled sardines with salsa on sourdough toast as starter and whole sea bream with salsa verde, sweet potato fries and mixed salad.

Delicious local, wonderfully creamy Lindisfarne oysters. An array of specials on the blackboard of fresh fish and seafood dishes. Pleasant, efficient service. Would recommend and return.

Yelp
Good, fresh seafood and welcoming, attentive staff. The oysters were outstanding, salty and briny. We had the English sparkling wine they carry BTG and it blew our minds. The potted lobster appetizer was underwhelming and actually a bit disappointing but both the langostines and the sticky toffee pudding made up for it.

Yelp
We stayed in Bamburgh castle for a week and had lunch here on our last day. It was fortunate we waited until then because otherwise we would have run up quite a bill coming here repeatedly. Even though they specialize in seafood, I had the 10 oz sirloin with a cup of chowder and my wife had the shoulder of lamb. My food was good but the lamb was mouthwatering delicious. To be fair, I had never had lamb before, so I didn't know if it's usually that good or if they did something special with theirs. Portions were large enough to have leftovers for dinner, so that was nice. Service was fine, a little more hands off than we're used to in the U.S. but that seems to be common in the UK. Overall, definitely worth your while if you're in the area.

Yelp
The food here is great. I never had such a nice and perfectly cooked cod filet. On the other hand, the steamed vegetables I got as a side were too raw. There is nothing worse than overcooked vegetables, but this was too much of the opposite. And the black olives they used in the sauce were dreadful. I also had fried squid as a starter, which was good. Nice combination of spices and fresh veggies as a salad. Unfortunately the staff was a bit arrogant for my taste. I tried to sit outside. A waiter came, took away the used napkins and glasses from the previous guests and wandered back inside. Nothing happened then for about ten minutes, So I went inside to ask what's going on. He told me that guests who sit outside are supposed to come inside to collect the menu. Furthermore he told me, they stopped serving outside just now. I gave no idea why he didn't bother to tell me when I sat down. He was there to clean the table. Also my waiter inside had this aura of being highly annoyed around him. His colleague seemed nice though, but she didn't serve me. Maybe all that was because the restaurant was very busy. When I left, there were still the finished dishes on the outside tables left. The decor was also very nice, which gave the restaurant a classy homely atmosphere. I guess, when you're lucky with the staff, you can gave a really nice time here.
