As a tourist being guided by locals, it was such a treat to have them steer me towards the Potted Lobster. Fabulous food, very fresh fish, crackling seasoning, and a cosy night in after a long (and lovely) day on the cold and windy beach, I can't express how delightful it was to be there! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and despite our large appetites we were full up quite quickly due to the generous portion sizes and array of dishes to try. I don't remember the name of it unfortunately but I indulged in a lovely chardonnay when I was there, which was a treat as well. Thanks again to the chef and staff -- I can't wait to visit again!

We spent an afternoon at Bamburgh beach, followed by a late lunch at The Potted Lobster. We sat outside as we had our dog with us, not sure if we were able to sit inside, the sun was out, so was warm, though there were a lot of flies around... not sure if it's because the seating area was by the drains. The food was good, though a bit too pricey for what it is. Its OK for a one off.

Great to eat here at the third time of asking so book early or be disappointed. Food was excellent as expected and there's a great ambience about the place. The staff were top notch- professional with a bit of banter thrown in - they really made the experience. Plenty of blackboard specials as well as the regular menu. Fout of us all had different starters and mains and no-one had any complaints.

Ignore the online menu. This is a seafood restaurant and most of the fish dishes are written on the specials boards. I've included the mains and starters boards for the day I visited. Friendly service and excellent food. I had the grilled sardines with salsa on sourdough toast as starter and whole sea bream with salsa verde, sweet potato fries and mixed salad.

Absolutely delicious. The seafood was fresh and tasty, the service was lovely and the restaurant has a great vibe. I loved the plates and small details. Probably some of the nicest scallops I’ve had for a long time, and the other plates were rich and flavourful. We got 3 starter style plates to share between 3 of us and shockingly enough it actually filled us up. Bear in mind it is quite pricey, but worth it.

We were really looking forward to eating here as the reviews are great, so was slightly disappointed with some aspects of the food. The oysters were truly delicious and so was the monkfish pasta however the Lobster Thermidor was really chewy and tough, and the sauce wasn’t the best either, this put a real dampener on the experience. The staff were really friendly and attentive.

First visit to The Potted Lobster and it won’t be the last! Fantastic food - imaginative choices too. Service was exceptional. All staff were attentive and friendly. Could not find fault! Had the special winter lunch offer, but the à la carte menu looked delicious too. We will definitely be back!

Although there were some initial issues with our booking caused by Open Table, which caused us having to move our booking a few hours earlier, the staff were very apologetic and pulled out all of the stops to make our visit memorable! The food was delicious and the service was absolutely second to none! This place really is worth a visit if you’re in the beautiful village of Bamburgh.

Yelp
Good, fresh seafood and welcoming, attentive staff. The oysters were outstanding, salty and briny. We had the English sparkling wine they carry BTG and it blew our minds. The potted lobster appetizer was underwhelming and actually a bit disappointing but both the langostines and the sticky toffee pudding made up for it.

Yelp
We stayed in Bamburgh castle for a week and had lunch here on our last day. It was fortunate we waited until then because otherwise we would have run up quite a bill coming here repeatedly. Even though they specialize in seafood, I had the 10 oz sirloin with a cup of chowder and my wife had the shoulder of lamb. My food was good but the lamb was mouthwatering delicious. To be fair, I had never had lamb before, so I didn't know if it's usually that good or if they did something special with theirs. Portions were large enough to have leftovers for dinner, so that was nice. Service was fine, a little more hands off than we're used to in the U.S. but that seems to be common in the UK. Overall, definitely worth your while if you're in the area.

Yelp
The food here is great. I never had such a nice and perfectly cooked cod filet. On the other hand, the steamed vegetables I got as a side were too raw. There is nothing worse than overcooked vegetables, but this was too much of the opposite. And the black olives they used in the sauce were dreadful. I also had fried squid as a starter, which was good. Nice combination of spices and fresh veggies as a salad. Unfortunately the staff was a bit arrogant for my taste. I tried to sit outside. A waiter came, took away the used napkins and glasses from the previous guests and wandered back inside. Nothing happened then for about ten minutes, So I went inside to ask what's going on. He told me that guests who sit outside are supposed to come inside to collect the menu. Furthermore he told me, they stopped serving outside just now. I gave no idea why he didn't bother to tell me when I sat down. He was there to clean the table. Also my waiter inside had this aura of being highly annoyed around him. His colleague seemed nice though, but she didn't serve me. Maybe all that was because the restaurant was very busy. When I left, there were still the finished dishes on the outside tables left. The decor was also very nice, which gave the restaurant a classy homely atmosphere. I guess, when you're lucky with the staff, you can gave a really nice time here.
