My husband, dog and I stayed here for our first time in Halifax. This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The staff are insanely professional and polite and the atmosphere is lovely. Patrick, who was phenomenal, checked us in and gave us a complimentary upgrade and a present for our dog (she was thrilled). Our room was clean and the view was great. We were also given two complimentary breakfast buffet cards—and that was delicious. We LOVED our stay and cannot wait to come back!

Great location, walkable to everything. The rooms are large and comfortable and clean and they offer nice toiletries from Occitane en Provence. If you can get a room on the 6th floor you'll have access to water and soda and snacks 24/7, which turns out to be really convenient (we drink a lot of water). The staff were uniformly helpful! We had breakfast included; if not it would be a little expensive. The avocado toast was surprisingly good and filling. The buffet is great for some folks but not for me as there was very little with actual fiber; lots of eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, rolls and pastries, plus a little fresh fruit and some yogurt, but the cereals were loaded with sugar. Also, if you order off the menu (avocado toast, nova salmon toast, etc) they are reluctant to let you get a few pieces of fruit even though the menu items are *less* than the buffet... ||All in all, though, we would definitely stay there again!

We LOVED our stay at the Prince George Hotel!!!! To help us celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary we were upgraded to a harbour view room on the 6th floor, special treats waiting for us, and daily breakfast! It was beyond generous and we were shocked and grateful for the kindness and hospitality! Not only was the room beautiful, but the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was so QUIET! I have never stayed in a downtown hotel that I didn't hear anything all night! The entire staff at the front desk and the restaurant were so friendly and the location is perfect. Parking was super convenient just around the corner. We can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. Highly recommend staying here when in Halifax! (Also-the Wooden Monkey restaurant just across the street was so delicious!!!!! My favorite dinner of our entire Nova Scotia trip!)

My wife and I stayed at Prince George Hotel for 4 nights during our trip to Halifax and absolutely loved the hotel! The room we reserved looked exactly like the photos online. The hotel was extremely clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. I requested for a microwave because I needed to use hot compress on my eyelids daily to treat dry eyes, and they provided one without extra cost, which I really appreciated! We were especially impressed by the made-to-order cookies in their in-room food menu. We ordered some cookies, which were made from scratch and delivered to us still warm. The location of the hotel was extremely convenient as well, just steps away from the citadel and all the great restaurants. We will definitely be choosing Prince George Hotel when we visit Halifax again.

I stayed at the Prince George Hotel this summer with my partner and we had a great experience! Our room on the seventh floor was beautiful and well maintained, as well as having plenty of space. Our room included complimentary access to a lounge area with coffee, snacks, and other drinks. The hotel also has patio spaces to relax and hangout. The pool, gym, and sauna were busy but great added features. We were able to park for additional cost in the underground parking lot. Our stay also came with a complimentary breakfast at the hotel restaurant which had amazing food. The hotel is within walking distance to many attractions and restaurants in downtown Halifax. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Google
Granted the hotel was very busy when we went. However the rooms were very clean and spacious. The pool was warm, clean and lovely. The sauna was clean and nicely done. The hot tub well maintained. Location was excellent, and only a short walk to great local sites. The breakfast buffet was good value for the cost. The parking was easy. Staff was approachable and eager to help.

The rooms are large and comfortable. The bed is very nice and staff are helpful and professional. But the bathroom doesn't have a fan. The sink didn't drain. The toilet runs when it feels like it. None of it was bad, but it is showing it's age and could use an update. Similarly, we opted for the breakfast buffet and it also could use an update - some skim milk or milk alternatives other than soy, which many people can't drink. Healthy breakfast cereals or granola. Something to put on the oatmeal other than brown sugar, like raisins or nuts. Again, nothing terrible, but just showing its age.

Google
Excellent hotel. Great staff. Nice room, more like a suite. Maid service even left a written "thank you" for each daily tip. Shower was big enough for a small dance party. Jetted tub was huge, as well. Valet was quick and easy. Morning breakfast buffet, although repetitive, was very good.

Yelp
The hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood, right in the heart of downtown and close to Citadel Historic site, a few minutes away from Harbour front and in walking distance from all the restaurants, cafés and shops. The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and have nice view and if you're lucky enough you'll get a room with the ocean view. One of the plus points of my room was not being connected to the adjacent room. The hotel is rather quiet and the bar and restaurant in the lobby have a vibrant and lively vibe.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience. The hotel is perfectly situated in downtown Halifax: just steps away from the best dining and entertainment; across the street from the convention center; and one block from the path to the historic Citadel. The hotel bar lounge is wonderful and very reasonably priced with a great happy hour including delicious bites including local seafood. From the amazing front desk staff, to the friendly bartenders, the hotel staff is second to none. Great tips on where to go and what to do and very accommodating. I am especially grateful to the front desk manager Pranjal Sharma who truly went above and beyond to help us when our tradeshow materials did not arrive in time for the show. He was amazing. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable with new and well maintained amenities. Truly a fantastic experience, and I will stay here any time i return to Halifax in the future.

Yelp
The view from my room (242) is terrible, the bright lights and loud music from all the bars and clubs is horrible. This hotel is expensive, I would expect a lot more, not happy at all. The only positive comment I can add is the staff are friendly.

Hopeton C.

Yelp
Yes yes and yes I do recommend this Hotel. I didn't need to go anywhere else. Perfect location to experience the Downtown NS and all the surrounding attractions. Try the happy hour wings with the mole sauce

Yelp
I recently stayed at The Prince George for 5 nights on business. It was pretty good, but not outstanding. Here is my overview of positives and negatives: Positives: 1. Nice service at the front desk, and friendly housekeeping staff. 2. Comfortable beds and quiet rooms, contributing to a good sleep. 3. A two-minute walk to the Halifax Convention Centre. 4. Very reasonably priced. Negatives: 1. The hotel is getting pretty dated, especially the rooms. It started to feel a bit like a standard Hilton or Holiday Inn. The bathroom fixtures were dated, and there was no hand-shower. 2. Streetnoise was a bit loud on Saturday night, coming from the bar district at the bar that was directly across the street from my window. 3. Housekeeping was a bit spotty at times. They missed my room completely one day. 4. Wifi wasn't great - it was functional, but sometimes very slow. 5. The gym wasn't good. It contains two treadmills, an eliptical, two cycles, and some free weights with a bench (see my photos). I really like a good gym when I travel, but this hotel didn't have it. That being said, it's a 5 minute walk to two Good Life Fitness locations, so that was easy to rectify. In addition, it has a pool and sauna (which I didn't use). 6. The bar was pretty quiet the entire time I was there. Don't expect much action or excitement in the evenings. But it's close to nightlife on nearby streets. Overall, it was a comfortable stay and convenient for the Halifax Convention Centre. But there are some downsides to the reasonable prices.

Nic O.

Yelp
Never again would we stay in a hotel like this - says 4* but is really dated. The front desk service staff must have graduated from the Fawlty Towers school of management - with a major in rudeness. One staff member Christy must have graduated at the top of his class. The room we had was 224 - very dated. Coffee machine broken and replaced during our stay. Toiletries not refreshed after day 1. WE have stayed in hotels all over Canada and this takes the prize as the most unwelcoming place. Door bell rang at 7.00am on sat morning and no one there - is this a ploy to get people up and out This hotel does not appreciate its customers one bit

Jane S.

Yelp
INCREDIBLY expensive. Hotel desperately needs a reno. Wallpaper in hallways is gapping and looks dirty. Elevators ditto. Many rooms (there were several of us staying) have no views, just the building opposite, but still cost close to $500/ night! Good central location. Front desk staff very nice and friendly but the infrastructure is yicky.

Yelp
We stayed 3 nights in total during our honeymoon out East (we are from Toronto) and had a lovely time. We arrived in Halifax following a huge wedding week (!) and were absolutely exhausted. The front desk staff was gracious enough to allow us to check in early to get some rest and then surprised us with a lovely cake when we had returned to our room. Our room was very clean and their bed was oh so comfortable. We loved being walking distance from the hotel to so many incredible restaurants, cute shops, and tourist attractions. We enjoyed our stay so much we returned again for our last night in Halifax (after a few days in Peggy's Cove). Upon our return, the guest services staff again surprised us with a handwritten note, delicious pastries, and some beers (my husband is a huge craft beer fan so this really blew him away!). Thanks so much for a memorable and comfortable stay!! We will be back again someday soon for sure.

Yelp
Excellent customer service. Friendly greetings upon arrival and no issues at all when calling down to the front desk for various items. We stayed in suite 427 for the weekend. Lovely. Very clean, excellent shower and toiletries, lots of BIG towels, super comfy beds with heavenly pillows. We had drinks in the bar on Friday night md the bartender was fantastic. Attentive and genuinely friendly! We will definitely stay at the Prince George again.

Yelp
I'm fresh back from a lovely stay at the Prince George Hotel. Admittedly, my stay started a little rocky as they sent me to my room, the key opened the door and it hadn't yet been cleaned. Yikes, this is not my room. I'm going to assume this is a really, really rare glitch based on the horrified look of the front desk staffs' faces when I went back down to the lobby. They gave me a new room with a king sized bed and a harbour view and voila! I settled in quite nicely. The rooms all have coffee makers, fridges and hairdryers, all three of which I value tremendously when traveling. They also keep two bottles of wine in the room, both of which are under $30 which is perfect when needing to bring a gift to a friend's place for dinner. I, like you, love not having to think and I love reasonably priced wine. The staff have all the maritime charm you'd expect, and the hotel lobby has recently had a facelift. (The nice kind like Courteney Cox, not the scary kind like Joan Rivers.) Next time I'm there I look forward to using their pool, alas, this time I forgot mine and had a shockingly tough time finding one in downtown Halifax. PEPPER POINTS for their 1pm check out! 11am is just too early, everywhere else!

Yelp
We were visiting family in New Brunswick and made an overnight visit to Halifax. The Prince George was very conveniently located in downtown Halifax and right near the Citadel. We were able to walk everywhere easily. Service was excellent at the hotel and we were lucky to have been upgraded to the Crown floor where we also had access to the lounge which included soft drinks, juices and David's Tea and also a complimentary continental breakfast. It was a very nice touch and we will definitely return in the future. The room was spacious, and comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. I especially like having the USB ports and plenty of them to charge all our devices and they had Aveda products. My only complaint was when I folded back the comforter there was a long hair that I was certain wasn't mine. I hated to make a complaint after we had already received an upgrade so I figured I'd just not use the extra comforter. In the evening we had drinks in the lounge and in the morning I took advantage of the fitness facility which was small but had everything I needed for a decent workout. In spite of the hair in the comforter we will still be back as the lovely service and comfort and convenience of the hotel made our stay.

Yelp
Over the course of a few family visits/business trips, I've had the pleasure of living vicariously at 'The Prince George Hotel.' The location and well-kept rooms are certainly enough to encourage me to head back. The Prince George Hotel is located in downtown Halifax and is minutes away from great restaurants (Wooden Monkey plug), The Neptune Theater as well as the Halifax Metro Center. Be sure to check the package deals at this hotel over the coming months. For the price of a nice dinner for two: $109+tax you can currently stay for a night and enjoy a king sized bed in one of their luxury suites with continental breakfast. Sounds like a nice vacation even if it is only 20 minutes from home!

Yelp
I had stayed at all the 3.5-4 star hotels in downtown Halifax except the Prince George. I had to attend a funeral so instead of staying at the Delta Barrington, where I have had only excellent experiences, I decided to give the PG a try, considering I had never been and it seemed to have good reviews online. I stayed two nights. The first night was fine. The room was ok. Not really four star standard but clean. Reminded me a lot of a Holiday Inn Express. Sadly, the second night, I had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. Perhaps I was just unlucky, but any time someone who runs a supposed four star hotel says they can't control their patrons, I can only shake my head. I've stayed at 29 dollar hotels that were quieter, had better wi-fi and better service. The wi-fi was terrible, I had to use my phone to get internet access on my laptop. This is the response I received from the director of the hotel. "Thank you for taking the time to communicate your very unpleasant experience with us. Our deepest sympathies for the recent loss of your family member. Indeed a very emotional and stressful time. As you experienced from your first night of sleep it is not the norm for loud rambunctious groups to be causing disturbances in the night. Our sincerest apologies for not having controlled this group prior to them disturbing your much needed rest. We unfortunately are unable to control the conduct of all our Guests. Our intention would never be to provide anyone with a refund solely to discourage them from sharing their true experience with others - that is not how we conduct our business. Our sincerest apologies for the disturbance and thank you again for taking the time to bring this to our attention. Sincerely, Craig" A four star hotel that can't "control the conduct of all our Guests"?!? I asked for my money back and was declined. Avoid this hotel at all costs. The Delta Barrington or the Marriott are actual four star hotels. The Prince George is more comparable to a Holiday Inn Express or a Ramada and even that is being generous. Whoever gave this hotel a four star rating obviously didn't sleep there.

Yelp
I decided to treat myself to an overnight stay at the Prince George over Open City weekend so I could stumble to my downtown hotel after a day and evening of merriment, rather than deal with getting back to Dartmouth. It was a fun splurge - I had a deluxe guestroom with king -size bed and a partial view of the Citadel. It was a nicely-furnished basic room - bed, flat-screen TV, desk, chair, mini-fridge, etc. A Keurig machine with a couple complimentary K-cups was available for morning coffee. I honestly didn't spend a whole lot of awake time in the room, but it did the trick for my needs. However, if I had been planning to spend a little more "me" time in the room, I probably would have been slightly disappointed. For one, there was no bathtub. The shower was gorgeous and spacious, but a decadent bubble bath is one of the things I most look forward to when I stay at a nice hotel. Also, I had been looking forward to room service brunch, but I chose extra sleep instead. Good thing, because the room service options were not plenty on Sunday, but only because it was Mother's Day and the hotel restaurant does a big spread. The two best things about my stay? The bed and the late checkout time. Seriously folks - sinking into this bed was like floating on big, puffy clouds. Amazing. It was incredibly difficult to get going the next day - I wanted to stay in that bed forever. Luckily, the Prince George has a 1pm checkout time. A hotel after my own heart. With the curtains drawn, the room remained luxuriously dark on a bright and sunny spring morning. I took advantage of both the bed and the checkout time - I think I slept past 11am. Writing this review, I wish I was sleeping in that bed right this second. I need a nap!

Yelp
Really lovely! Nice food options.. friendly staff and ready to serve! Would definitely have it on my top ten list for brunch in halifax.. convenient underground parking. . Would have loved if they had more hot plate options though. . However they always made sure that plates are full and fresh..

Yelp
Ahhh, Prince George, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Mike reserved us a beautiful room on their top Crown floor. King sized bed with duvet covers and down pillows. I spent as much time in that luxurious bed as possible. This is easily the nicest - and most expensive - hotel in the city. Attentive staff, quiet, clean rooms with all amenities (and Aveda products!), a view of downtown Halifax ... I love this place. I'm not sure about the rooms on other floors, but on the Crown floor the checkout time is 1 p.m. (as opposed to 11 a.m. almost everywhere else). It was so nice to sleep in and have breakfast brought to our room. I love this hotel and can't recommend it highly enough.

Yelp
The staff here seems to be totally worthless and incompetent. Every time i had to interact with the front desk staff either in person or on the phone, i was left with the distinct impression that they had no idea what they were doing. I asked for firmer pillows, they housekeeping staff came up with a couple of towels; I asked how to get around the downtown link that their info packet discusses, and no one knew what i was talking about; i asked for restaurant recommendations, and no one had anything to say, other than "they're all pretty good..." very helpful. One of the elevators was out of service, which made for a loooooooong wait every time i wanted to go to my room. My brother went to use the sauna the morning we were leaving, but no one had it turned on, so it was cold, and we didnt have time to wait for it to heat up. If the pool/hot tub/sauna opens at 7, someone should go and turn it on, so if you actually want to use it, you can. I was very underwhelmed with this place.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights this weekend and was treated with hostility. Whether or not this was the way they normally treat their guests or if they were being unfair to us, perhaps because of our age? Apparently people in their early 20s don't deserve the same treatment as older guests. We got a room with two double beds on the 2nd floor. The rooms were indeed clean, however they were unbelievably small. We ordered room service shortly after arriving which turned out to be extremely overpriced (as expected) and subpar. Neither me or the other guest ended up finishing it. We went out that evening and came back late at night. We used our swipe cards to get in but were stopped by security afterwards. They questioned us and made us feel unwelcome. Really the last thing I want to be subjected to when I just want to go back to my room and relax. The other times I needed help from the front desk they were rude, curt and unaccommodating. In addition to the staff being pretty terrible the rooms were absolutely nothing special at all. There was nothing that stood out about it from any other 3 star or even 2 star hotel. Don't recommend it at all. Perhaps my biggest issue with this hotel was the fact that they didn't have the channel to watch Breaking Bad. What kind of hotel does that? How dare they offer cable television but don't offer us access to Breaking Bad? Don't tease a person like that, Prince George. What is the point of even having cable TV if a person can't watch Breaking Bad? Needless to say we complained, and although they gave us an apology, they clearly didn't understand the magnitude of the situation. Thank you for the pain and suffering, Prince George.

Yelp
On the plus side it is an attractive hotel. Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the hotel and is a decent speed. The down sides are several. Growling air conditioner compressors in my room and in adjacent rooms (leading me to change a room), outdoor patio background music on speakers up too loud at night, a bed that creaks with the slightest movement. I ended up on a dog floor, (yes, beware, it is a dog friendly hotel) Floor 3, due to lack of other rooms (I don't have a dog), but I did not experience any dog noises as I saw in another review. Staff is pleasant and polite, but a two times I experienced no follow-through from front desk staff on an issue, when they told me they'd take care of it. Going directly to the housekeeping staff took care of it. I sense a need for training or adult supervision of a very young front desk staff. I was charged for a bottle of wine I didn't consume, and they took it off my bill. Each room has a bottle of red and white wine, with a card saying they are $29 each. When I entered the room, I happened to notice that one bottle was missing and called the front desk which said I would not be charged. Sure enough, it shows up on my bill. Beware of improper charges on your bill. Count your bottles of wine. My room was on the side facing downhill toward the water, which unfortunately faces a building housing several bars that is lit at night by an unfortunate array of lights that illuminates the hotel like a movie set. You can't enjoy an evening view out the window. Plumbing fixtures on the room sink and bathtub were loose and mispositioned, room clock time off by 5 minutes and no apparent way to adjust it -- things I don't expect from a hotel that purports to be of this caliber.

Korby S.

Yelp
Not only was everyone at the hotel professional and courteous to the highest standard, they provided magnificent service ON THE DAY OF HURRICANE DORIAN! Everyone was working long, long shifts, but you couldn't tell. What a great hotel! Gio, the restaurant, was also fantastic.

Yelp
Tucked away on a downtown side street, the Prince George Hotel contains prize swank and a certain bout of exclusivity. Seconds away from anything and everything, the corner of Market Street tends to be off the main route for the bulk of downtown traffic. I've stayed here a few times, and it struck me as top notch servings. Posh interiors from top to bottom, the framework rests on cordial service and a reasonable lapse in luxury. Cosy white robes, high thread count bedding, breakfast options and crisp surroundings-- the draws are easily in sight. This seems to be a popular spot for business type affairs, with an in-house boardroom. Less kids, more adults are seen frequenting in and out, although by no means is it unsuitable for families. Downtown neighbours include the Metro Center, Wooden Monkey, Cheers Bar & Pub, The Jade W Book Store, and all the Argyle hotspots just a street below. A sure bet for those who travel in class, as its got a great mixings of urban quarters.

Yelp
For our visit to Halifax last weekend, we decided to stay at the Prince George because it seemed pretty centrally located, and the price was quite reasonable to boot. Location-wise, it is pretty centrally located, and it is most of the way up the hill from the bay to the top of the hill where the Citadel is - so if you are looking to make the trek up, it puts you in a decent location, and it is just a few minutes away from many spots to dine and drink at. Even though we got in quite late, checking in was a cinch, as was dropping off our rental car for valet at the front (which, at $30 a night, is pretty pricey for a relatively small city). The lobby itself is pretty open, with a large dining room where breakfast is served, as well as a bar, placed right at the back of the elevator bank - an interesting placement for that. Although the elevators are definitely on the older side, they still get you up and down pretty quickly. Despite being on the older side, the walls between your room and hallway aren't really that soundproofed at all; if you happen to have a bunch of rowdy folks making their way through late at night, it could be irritating. The room itself was spacious enough, and with a partially obstructed view of the bay, we were facing the right direction to get woken up by the sun. That said, the mattress was definitely on the firmer side, which I was not a huge fan of, and the blankets were somewhat thin as well. Everything in the bathroom was pretty standard, although the large dispensers filled with shampoo and conditioner didn't quite work as expected...I ended up having to deconstruct the holder to use it. While it was quite generous to provide a decent-sized mini-fridge to store things in, there was no safe. If anything, it's just another example of the odds 'n ends that the Prince George provided, without any real explanation or consistency of quality in the room. The location is very good, and on that alone, I might come back again. Nonetheless, it wasn't the best hospitality experience I have had. The accommodation for late checkout beyond 1 PM (which is definitely on the later side for a regular checkout) was nice of the front desk to do, though. In all - I would expect a pretty average experience that might feel a bit on the pricier side for what you end up with.

Yelp
I just need to publish a recommendation for a special family event. If you've never been to the Prince George Hotel's Sunday Brunch, you should absolutely go. Not only for the food but because of how well they treated us recently when we went with our young son. It's $35 worth of heaven per person but it's the experience that makes is so special. Fresh squeezed juice, delicious coffee, servers who whisk away plate after plate. They've got a pasta bar, salads, delicious carved meats, brunch foods (yummy bacon and sausage) and everything from mussels to ribs... And that's not even getting into the sweets!!! They are out of this world. See my picture from this last Sunday's special treat. Cakes and cookies, muffins and cheesecake. It's an amazing meal and you should definitely call and book your special meal! http://yfrog.com/kgeqodipj

Yelp
Very impressed with this hotel. The all around fantastic service can be readily found in the ease to which quality is given. Total professionalism of each staff member. From rooms, to room service, to our favorite spot at Gios for brunch. Courteous, impeccable service. There is no "ego" to this business. As a patron you see that everyone is treated to the ultimate service and that seems to be the priorty of the Prince George staff. Keep it up! Quickly, becoming my partner and I's number one spot for anniversary celebrations.

Yelp
Excellent service!!! The staff is friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Halifax!

Yelp
Barely a 3 star hotel. The staff was very nice, the room appeared nicely appointed but was cheaply done -- a number of broken items, and low quality bedding. The establishment was more like a Hampton Inn. Not that it was terrible, just not a hotel that would command a position in the "upper tier" of any city, unless there were few options, which may be the case in Halifax.

Yelp
I stayed in an executive suite for one night and I had an absolutly stunning and magnificent time. Suite was impeccable, staff were great, and anyone who wants to learn the true definition of "customer service" should go here and learn from their staff. Thanks for an excellent stay and I will come back again!

Jim T.

Yelp
I'm rating the Prince George Hotel based on several company events that have been held here, rather than as a hotel guest. I live in Halifax, so I rarely need to stay in a local hotel. :) The company I work for has held a number of employee events at the Prince George over the last few years that I attended. In each case, the venue has looked fantastic, the staff have been excellent, and the catering top notch! There was lots of space for our large group to spread out. During Spring/Summer events, the hotel opened up their rooftop patio as well. The hotel is located right downtown, so there are plenty of other bars and restaurants for people to visit after the event. The parking at the hotel is rather expensive, but there is a ton of parking nearby at the Scotia Square garage that is much more affordable, so you have options.

Yelp
the Hotel is really great because of it's location in downtown Halifax and it's connection underground to many places makes it great in stormy weather. Beds were comfortable and room was quiet and I liked the check out time of 1 pm. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
A very nice modern hotel that is really located in a nice area of Halifax. It's an easy walk to the Maritime Museum, the wharf, the Citadel and lots of interesting shops and restaurants. Linens are great, room is spacious and the Egg Benedict dish with a lemon hollandaise sauce was scrumptious.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel which is centrally located in the city. You are close to the waterfront, the citadel, and the public gardens. The bed here was so comfortable! My husband and I slept so well. The room was impeccably clean and spacious. The bathroom was also large with a nice walk-in shower and Aveda products that they were not stingy about refilling.

Yelp
Great value and service, rooms are clean and well stocked. Appreciated their detail to the environment by providing large bottles for shampoo and soaps. The only problem was poor wifi in the room

Yelp
Great location just south of the citadel. Bar is funky and the restaurant is nice. The room and the hallways are a little dated.

Yelp
I've been to the Prince George for a few weddings and events over the years, but somehow had never experienced their famed Sunday Brunch until this past Father's Day. Oh. My. Word. It was UNREAL. Never before in my life have I seen so many foods, so many flavors, so many culinary delights all converge in the same place at the same time. Mini burger sliders, Asian chicken wings, smoked salmon, sushi, bacon, bacon and more bacon, Belgian waffles, a fish and chips bar, a construct-your-own icecream sandwich station, a table of desserts to make any sugarphile swoon... and those were only some of the things that I managed to fit on my plate. (Ok, full disclosure, there were at least 3 plates involved, maybe 4). The staff was lovely and attentive; they kept my coffee cup full and didn't make me feel bad for loading up my plate with essentially one of everything. I don't know if The Prince George just pulled out all the stops because it was Father's Day, but I've never experienced anything like it before. And I loved it. The only real drawback is that it's pricey - around $35 per head - but I easily got my money's worth.

Yelp
I wanted to update my previous review. The General Manager (Scott T) has made me feel that this incident will not happen again - notice will be given to future bookings to ensure they know the services that may not be available so they can make a decision on whether to keep their reservation. I am returning this weekend for another birthday event. Thanks Scott!

Yelp
I travel frequently for work, and the customer service at this hotel is outstanding. I had forgotten some items in my room, and my only were they recovered, but also shipped to my door the same day! Amazing! Thank you so much for an awesome stay

Yelp
I stayed here for three nights in the fall of 2011 and enjoyed the experience. The staff were attentive to my needs, parking was decent, and the hotel has the added benefit of being attached to WTCC downtown. I had a low-tier room, but it was still a great experience overall. Decor in the room was nice and it came with traditional amenities.

Yelp
Executive Suite was great! Room service was quick and accommodating. I would say it is the best hotel in Halifax. They recently have gone through a renovation. I am excited to visit again for a great experience! And it does have one of the best restaurants in Atlantic Canada, which is a slight plus ;)

Yelp
The basic experience of a clean warm quite night stay at a 4.4 star hotel was a fail. I always make the best of all my experiences. Happy New Years! I always have a great time however there was a little thorn in the fact that some folks left a dog in the next room that Barked for 2 1/2 hours before a neighbor called to complain. Prince George Staff were amazing and took the fantastic Black Lab for a walk (the first time). Our crew (5 families with kids and infants) all own dogs and placed them in care for the evening so not to disturb patrons. This incident is not like leaving your dog in the hot car but..... I love dogs and travel so I get it. The fireworks set the dog off again as it does for most dogs and was still barking after 12:30am while I tucked the kids in from a long evening. I assume the family arrived back at around 1am because the dog was happy again. The whole floor was affected and front desk denied that there was ever a problem. So buyer beware. The premium is great if you want Kennel services and a basic room. Would have just gone with the evening as it was, but staff at the hotel made us feel that it was our fault and said there is "nothing we can do. Risk you take" they said. Where I have allergies to cats, I would have liked to be alerted that animals are permitted. Customer service 0 star Dog sitting 5 star

Yelp
Love this hotel, everyone is really nice and the place was really comfy. but hands down the best Sunday brunch that I have ever eaten in my life. At about 40 per person, I have never seen such an assortment of food in one spot for a brunch. Everything was super fresh and so full of flavor I just about died, fresh squeezed orange juice, smoked salmon, various pasta salads, sushie to die for, lamb, roast, eggs galore, bacon, butter chicken, the best sticky pudding I have ever had, and I am not kidding about 50 more things. I will be going back for this, a reservation was required.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights for a local wedding and it was fantastic. The rooms were pleasant and modern, the bed was comfy. The front desk was extremely helpful -- they had restaurant suggestions, helped us out with free toiletries when it turned out we forgot something, and lent an umbrella when we had to go out to dinner in the pouring rain. The location is great for walking to parks and the Halifax waterfront. If I ever go back to Halifax, NS, I would totally stay here again.

Yelp
Not as luxurious as most 4 or 5 star hotels but also much cheaper than most. Good service and nicely done lobby. Good bar and food options. Very helpful staff. Very accommodating for families. Nice pool! Also very convenient location in the heart of downtown Halifax.

Yelp
Amazing accommodations, Great value, Best restaurant & BEST STAFF! I've stayed at a few different hotels in downtown Halifax and I can honestly say that none can compare to The Prince George!

Yelp
Our stay at the prince George was like being home! They changed our room to a double as we brought our daughter at the last minute. Love the fact that we could walk to everywhere we wanted to go. The venue for the wedding was so nice. My Hubby is a Transplant recipient and they took special care to keep things clean. We took advantage of the pool and gym and was just happy with whole place. We will stay there again on our next trip Down Home! Katherine Beatty

Yelp
A wonderful respite from the rest of Halifax. Friendly and helpful staff. You have to pay for parking, but that beats trying to find your own spot. Comfortable beds. Stylishly equipped. Only caveat: second guess the concierge if he/she is a little on the young/inexperienced side (we were underwhelmed with dinner recommendations)

Yelp
Nice rooms, clean, very friendly & efficient service. Disappointed by the volume of the barking dog next door and the 'continental included breakfast' that we payed more for by being on the sixth floor. Think twice before paying extra for a breakfast that includes: coffee from a machine, tea bags, yogurt, granola, and the fruit trio (pineapple, cantaloupe, and honeydew). To make matters worse, the power was out for several hours on our second night and the hotel staff was not at all accommodating - we received no room credits or credits of any other kind. They did not even give us an apology. Thumbs down

Yelp
This is a nice looking hotel, comfortable rooms with good coffee.... but if you are deciding between a harbour facing room or the less expensive one facing the citadel- definitely pick the citadel. Harbour facing will allow you to see other buildings which block the harbour as the PG is very far from the water. The citadel view is at least of pretty grass. On another note, for an expensive hotel, their customer service and friendliness was definitely lacking. I was told I had to pay a lot more to stay in the same room for more then one night, and that I should appreciate that they were giving me a discount. It was odd. I did pay more for the convenience of not moving and the more expensive room ended up missing things that made it more $$. First, there were 2 half drunk bottles of water in the fridge. A little unappealing. I spoke to the front desk about the missing niceties and the previous guests waters and was told I wouldn't be charged for their waters....what?! and that they were updating their website, so they no longer offered those complementary niceties. How would anyone know the website was being updated meant they wouldn't receive what is promised for each room? The fact that is was pennies to them and they argued about it was bizarre to me. I also noticed the bathroom floor was not vacuumed or mopped at all, but I felt it was useless to continue letting them know as it was clear customer service was not their top priority. Had this been an inexpensive hotel, it would have been a little bad, but this is an expensive hotel and I was asked to pay even more once there! Does not make me want to recommend. The last note is the pool. Looks beautiful in the picture on the website. In person, it had black mold on the bottom, was freezing and looked old and dated. I love swimming, but had to pass as it didn't look clean. I will share photos below of the views from harbour side and the citadel side as well as of the pool. Not a great experience overall!
