On the Grid : The Print Center

"Philly's best kept secret, tucked away on a miss-if-you-blink side street in a quintessential carriage house. This place is a MUST visit. Rotating exhibitions of all things beautiful in photography and printmaking, both historical and contemporary...not to mention a perfectly curated gift shop with prints etc. at all prices." - J2 Design

I love the Print Center. Their shows are so interesting and dynamic. More people should go! Unfortunately this location is not easily accessible to people with additional mobility needs.

Delightful, free print art museum with a small tempting shop. Rotating shows. I've been twice and the exhibits have been thought-provoking and/or lovely. Staff are friendly; happy to talk if you want or leave you to your own devices.

Innovative artists featured in every exhibition! I would encourage every reception and artist talk. Truly beautiful work displayed.

A small gallery space in a converted historic rowhome. The collection wasn't extensive, but is presented sensibly and pleasingly. I appreciated the display of the work of local artists.

Yelp
The venerable Print Center of Philadelphia is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2015. Special exhibitions in honor of this anniversary are taking place in the gallery spaces at the charming Print Center itself as well as other cultural institutions in Philadelphia such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They def are worth seeing. And if you're on the lookout to purchase art, the store in the Print Center always has a lot of things on offer. Here's hoping for another 100 years from the Print Center as one of the driving cultural institutions on the Philadelphia scene!

Yelp
Looking to plan a small non-traditional wedding in Center City on a budget? Give Ashley a call at the Print Center to get more info and schedule a tour. While we ultimately decided to go with a different venue, Ashley was extremely responsive and a pleasure to talk with. The Print Center is a two story gallery space and can serve up to 80 people, however we felt that it would best fit a group of 50 or less. Because of the primary nature of the space & the age of the building dancing is not allowed, but the upstairs galleries would be perfect for a small dinner or cocktail reception. The store in the back of the first floor has quite a collection of contemporary prints for sale, and unique cards, books, and gifts. The current exhibition - ephemeral sprawl part one was expertly displayed. I look forward to visiting when the second part of the exhibition is up this Spring.

Yelp
This hidden gem tucked away on a quiet Center City side street has been one of my favorite Philadelphia galleries for years. There aren't many galleries in Philly that feature photography, so this spot is a treat. They also have a cool gallery store in the back that carries art by local, national and international artists alike. Good stuff!

Yelp
I'm new to Philly, so I've been seeking out new art spaces to visit. The Print Center was exactly the kind of gallery experience I was looking for. I attended an opening reception last Thursday and was able to check out 3 new artists from all around the country. The work was contemporary, curated well, and the space was clean...you wouldn't know it past entering their little front door, but it's spacious in there! I didn't chat with anyone, but I could tell who the gallery employees were and they were making themselves available in every room. Just off the beaten path of 16th Street (and right down the road from my place), it was a pleasure to drop in last week. I look forward to future shows!

Yelp
One of those little places that hold A LOT of work. Smart stuff, great shows and a super store in the back, too.
