The Purple Onion

We visited today, and the burgers were delicious! We brought our large party of 14 into this cute little place. The 2 ladies working were great and handled our large order with grace and kindness- not to mention the service was still quick! We've always wanted to stop in when visiting, but we're always visiting in the off-season. Truly glad we finally got to stop! All the kids had ice cream or milkshakes, as well. No complaints from anyone!

Fun place to eat after roaming around this quaint little town. Absolutely pet friendly! We enjoyed our food while sitting outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Hubby loved his chili cheeseburger.

First, I love new experiences. This town is a mining town in the southwest. The street is small, winding, and the elevations are over a mile up. This restaurant had stellar service, a sincere smile, and pleasant words that make all the difference. This is precisely what you get with the service. It's not fast food, so don't expect it in 3-7 minutes. Now the food, we had burgers 🍔 😋 and they were delicious. Well-formed, meaty, and loaded with goodness. Our sides were a salad (not wilted or sparse, quite perfect) and potato salad, and wow, this is GOOD potato salad. Seating is outside, and this was also very pleasant. We ordered a chicken and carne taco plate to go. Both of these very much Americanized but also filling, tasty, and simply good taco plates helped us finish out the day while staying locally. For being out in the middle of nowhere the food is fantastic! Service was great and seems to be a family run establishment. Wife and I both had the bacon cheeseburger with green chilies and it was like a hit in the nostalgic feels, the bun, patty and bacon were perfectly crispy and came together for a perfect symphony of a burger. My great grandma used to make burgers that no one else could come close to until now. Too bad I was passing thru I'd stay just to eat here again!

The BLT hit the spot. Lots of crispy bacon! Purple coleslaw? It was excellent! The drive up featured amazing views! The drive alone was well worth the trip!

They have an award for 'The Best Green Chile Burger In Catron County' but I've never had a better green chile burger anywhere. Ever. At any price. The food, the service, the location, the atmosphere- all top notch. I fall a little more in love with Mogollon every time I'm there.

Absolutely love this place! The Purple Onion is a delightful little gem nestled in hills of the old mining town of Mogollon (population 12). Great green chile cheeseburgers!

Excellent food and great people!! A total gem! Their breakfast burrito was SO GOOD; packed with love and deliciousness!! My boyfriend got the Green Chile burger and it was eaten with full on adoration and delight ☺️What a sweet little place! They hand make everything so it takes a bit to get your food; be kind and patient, it’s TOTALLY worth it 👍🏼💛✨ The owner and her kids are making the food with so much love and care! Don’t forget to take a walk around the stores before or after your dining and enjoy the town and nature! We’re totally coming back!!
