Purple Poulet

5 stars through and through. Service staff treated my girlfriend and I as though we were special guests, the cocktails were outstanding, and the food was uniquely southern. All meals will come with a raspberry sorbet pallet cleanser between appetizers and dinner, and bread service (a small piece of cornbread and cinnamon streusel with honey bacon butter). We had the bread as our dessert as it was incredibly rich and delicious. We shared the fried deviled eggs for an appetizer, I had the Hot Brown with a side of salt and pepper fries and my girlfriend had the Caesar salad with a side of Mac and cheese. Would absolutely recommend every dish that we had this evening, can’t wait to go back and try more mouth watering southern cuisine.

I’ve been wanting to come here for over a year, so of course the reservations we made a week ago happen to be during a snow storm :). Still, the staff showed up and they were amazing. Huge bourbon selection, I ended up having their house old fashion. I especially loved the deviled eggs for an appetizer. Was pleasantly surprised they brought out sorbet as a palette cleanser for us before our mains came out. Excellent fried chicken, I can see why so many people order it. Would definitely come again, and recommend it for anyone’s date night.

Visited with a party of 9 on Saturday. The service was fantastic (thank you, Stephanie & all who helped make the celebration memorable). The food was impeccable & the drinks were fun too. We ordered everything from the fried deviled eggs, Fried Green Tomato Pie & Pork Belly Bruschetta to Veal, Gumbo, Seafood Melange, & of course the biscuits & fried chicken & every bit of it was delicious. Highly recommend!

My friend and I stopped into Purple Poulet right when they opened, and it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The owner/hostess greeted us warmly, and the waitstaff were incredibly kind and attentive the entire time. We were the only guests for most of our visit, and honestly, we were treated like royalty. Several team members checked on us throughout the meal, making sure everything was perfect without ever being overbearing. We started with the fried deviled eggs and sweet potato beignets — both were absolutely delicious and such unique starters. They also brought out complimentary blueberry bread and cornbread, which was such a thoughtful and tasty touch. For my entrée, I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans — classic comfort food done right. I will say, my favorite fried chicken to date. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles, and it looked (and tasted!) amazing. Between the warm hospitality and the quality of the food, it was a fantastic dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!

We absolutely love this place!! The family that owns it is wonderful and they’re always present and there to host. I don’t think I’ve ever had better fried chicken in my life. I wish I would have taken a photo of the sorbet they serve between apps and dinner because it’s such a nice touch. Highly recommend making reservations but this place is fantastic for any occasion!

The baked oysters are great, had the redneck Rockefeller and the house special with crawfish. The pate is exceptional along with the pimento cheese. The chicken coating is light, crispy and goes so well with the moist chicken. The old building gives the place a New Orleans vibe and the staff and service is excellent. Huge bourbon selection which includes flights. Definitely will be here whenever I’m in Cincy.

After many years of wanting to, we finally made it down to Covington to experience this delightful place. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know I bemoan the lack of intensity, awareness and service at almost every place I visit. The Purple Poulet is an exception. The cozy atmosphere, attentive service, delicious and creative food, left nothing wanting. One thing that stood out to me, was as we entered at opening time and were waiting at the door to be seated, the bartender saw us and said that the hostess would be right with us, showing me right away that the “it’s not my job” attitude wasn’t here. I highly recommend The Purple Poulet!

The Purple Poulet in Newport is phenomenal! Absolutely delicious and an experience worth raving about! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. Special shout out to our amazing server Kristy. We started with the Fried Green Tomato Gratinée and Pork Belly Bruschetta—both packed with incredible flavor. Between courses, they served a raspberry sorbet palate cleanser, which was a delightful touch. For the main course, I had the fried chicken meal, and let me tell you—this was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! Perfectly crunchy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. Dan had the panned veal pappardelle, while our friends enjoyed the Seafood Mélange and Swamp Critters Provençal—everyone was blown away by the flavors! If you’re a foodie, you HAVE to try this place! Highly recommend!
