Excellent food!! Excellent service!! Reasonably priced as well. The chicken cordon blue, chicken fried steak, clam chowder, Reuben sandwich, and chocolate lava cake we're all great! Go here if you are in town!

Google
Kind of a cool local themed restaurant. I went for an early dinner and there were only a handful of people eating. The service was pretty slow. The food was too expensive for the quality. Seemed like the theme of the restaurant was how "Not mormon" they are. I wouldnt say anti mormon but they certainly want to be set apart. Many of the beer names are pointed at exactly that. If slow service, expensive low quality food, and prods against religion are your thing, you'll be sure to enjoy The Quarry.

Google
Over priced and over cooked steak!! Was not impressed with any part of my experience other than my waitress. $21 steak that was ordered med-rare came out med-well and the cut of meat seemed poor quality as well.

Had a very pleasant experience here after having a terrible experience at Vernal Brewing Co. They have a very good draft list, plus some high point beers in bottles. The food was good, service was friendly and efficient.

Nice outdoor patio, except for the noise from the traffic on the street. Not the establishment's fault. It's a bit expensive, the quality was decent. The appetizers arrived with in 10 mins of ordering. French dip was small, dry and quite blan, but the fish and chips were very good. The fish wasn't overly breaded, texture was firm and flaky, not mushy at all. We took desserts to go and snacked on them on our way back to CO. enjoyed them both very much. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. It's a nice, clean place to eat.

Google
The Quarry is consistently good. I always get my food quickly, the staff are always welcoming and courteous, the food is always tasty, and I'm always seated promptly. It does appear there have been price increases recently, though, so I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that. On one hand, I know they do a good job. On the other, the food is more casual and doesn't really warrant some of the prices. Aside from price, definitely worth going. Even with the price in consideration it's pretty decent.

Google
I did not get the name of waitress as we arrived after our group, but she was phenomenal. Several of the couples were sharing meals and instead of bringing out extra plates the food was plated for each person. She kept our drinks topped off and was quick to communicate the status of our food. I had the chicken cordon bleau and it was breaded lighter than I'm accustomed to and with WAY more cheese which made it much better than I expected. I also really enjoyed the sweet potato fries.

Yelp
The food was amazing! We had a party of seven. Four of us ordered the ribeye steak. It was cooked just the way we asked- 1- medium, 2- medium well and 1- medium rare. It was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The baked potatoes were salted on the outside and served with real butter and sour cream, both on the side. One ordered steak fajitas. The meat was cooked just right. It came with ample extras- lots of guacamole, shredded cheese, salsa. Two full half pound hamburgers (real meat patties) with lots of real cheddar cheese. The cheese was melted- like it should be. They gave us so many yummy rolls we took the extra home. They were served with honey butter- so good! A couple of us had salads with ranch dressing that they homemade. Ask for the dressing in the side, they give lots of dressing. Two different f s had the clam chowder, it was good and had a lot of flavor to it. Clams were even visible- no skimping. The beverages were served in large plastic drinking glasses with plenty of crushed ice. We were stuffed and didn't have room for dessert. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The only not reason I give a 4 out of 5 is because it was SO cold in there. Wear an extra layer.

Yelp
We ordered the ribeye charcoal grilled with a side of sweet potato fries, clam chowder and nachos appetizer. The ribeye was probably the best ribeye steak I've ever had. It was perfectly grilled with the smoky charcoal flavor. The chowder was delicious and had a nice bacon flavor. The Nachos were okay and had too much cheese/sauce. I think the sweet potato fries would have tasted better if it wasn't doused in brown sugar. Overall Swain brothers was a nice surprise and the steak makes the trip worth it

Yelp
Wow!!!! we came in here. Were we ever impressed? We had charbroiled steaks, the asparagus, and coconut shrimp, salads, and clam chowder... gosh it was so good... I don't know what they do to their steaks, but it was something special... Did I mention the hot rolls that came out fresh from the oven with butter... Wow, wow wow... Vernal is his card very fortunate to have this restaurant Madison was our waitress and she took very good care of us made up a lot of very good recommendations and everything was really good. The longer we were here, the busier this place got.... it was amazing...

Yelp
I can't judge the steaks. I can say there are a lot of choices; six full pages of food. So we didn't get steak, we got different dinner choices. They had very large portions. Would feed a 22-year old that's active. For us older types, we took 1/3 of it back with us. With all the choices, there's likely something for everyone. Prices are low for the non-steak dinners. Lots of seats - a few different rooms. Excellent service.

Yelp
A very nice and elegant steakhouse in the middle of downtown where it seems like a lot of locals go for lunch and dinner, but also a lot of Tourists go as well on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Our waitress Jodi was spot on and quick with service. Thank you! I'm not sure if they take reservations but it gets busy during dinner time. I recommend if you are a steak connoisseur take a seat at this place in Vernal, Utah.

Yelp
I've eaten at Morton's Ruth, Chris and Del Frisco's and this steak can compete with all three of them. If I could give this a seven stars, I give it. The downside for me was I had to do a zoom for work so I had to get it to go order and bring it back to the hotel so I had to eat it out of Styrofoam, but it was still one of the best buttery steaks I've had the rolls were so buttery good and the salad. This is a must go to when you're in Vernal.

Yelp
Our main course was a prime rib and a char-broiled fillet. My prime rib was par, just as good as any good resturant. My partner's char-broiled was outstanding. She was kind enough to give me several bites of her steak. I would almost drive back to Utah for that. Service was average to above average. Ambiance much the same as other small town resturants. I would return there again.

Yelp
Staying the night in Vernal and came here for dinner. Sat at the bar and Marty was attentive and a happy guy. Service was attentive and the bar filled up while there. Ordered the blackened chicken Cesar salad. It was a nice portion and the chicken was cooked tender. Also had a glass of wine. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff all appeared to get along well and were happy. That says a lot about an establishment. Would recommend and return if ever driving through town.

Yelp
We ate here tonight and the food was so good. Had the clam chowder, mussels, and filet. Everything was excellent. And our server was so nice. Definitely recommend.

Jeanne L.

Yelp
Started with fresh out of the oven rolls, a great salad, and then a beautifully-cooked ribeye steak. Plus, many choices of different potatoes for a side. We had the loaded mashed potatoes, which were delicious and generously portioned. (Plus, they had pebble ice in their drinks!! ) a very satisfying meal.
google avatar

Ceez Z.

Yelp
OK. First, something I need to say about this place. They ran out of mashed potatoes, but they still had baked potatoes? OK, I know theres more to it than that in a kitchen. But I really wanted mashed potatoes! Anyhow, food and service was great apart from that.

Yelp
Spent the past few days camping near Aspen, CO and subjected to stuffy, hoity toity, fru-fru, pretentious restaurants that price gouge tourists with menus that appear to be written in some kind of alien language from a planet inhabited only by rich a**holes. I came from eating "beets served three different ways" and "microgreens salad" to demolishing a prime rib and a whole plate of some of the best nachos I've ever head. I felt right at home. Salad was drenched in ranch dressing. Hell yeah. Steak was dripping in juices. Hell yeah. T-Rex nachos were flame. All in all cost me less than $50 for a steak dinner, desert, appetizer, salad, beer. Yes please. Thank you for giving me the sustenance I've been searching for at a fair price. What a fantastic meal. Fancy? Hell no. Just how I like it.

Yelp
This was better than I thought! From the pictures it didn't look that appealing but I have to say the steaks were good! I have eaten better steaks but I have also had a lot worse. I had the all you can eat steak which is a sirloin. Ordered medium and it came out medium! I'm just not that big of a sirloin fan, never have been. The Bloody Mary I ordered with my meal was top notch! By far the best was the service! These girls were all very efficient and friendly! And they all looked like models! Maybe I just came on a good night (Friday)!

Yelp
Great steaks. Clam chowder was very good as well. Haven't had a meal that I didn't enjoy.

Yelp
Outside seating area is cute. A little bit of road noise but they have music playing and it kinda helps. The food was . Ordered Medium Rare ribeye.. I got MEDIUM RARE ribeye!! That doesn't happen very often. It seems like most places want me to eat ribeye medium.. Haley was my server and she was so nice. Perfect timing on checking in. Swains did NOT disappoint!!
google avatar

Hines R.

Yelp
Very nice location, outside construction is going on but they are still open, the charbroiled steak was the best I've ever had!

Mary T.

Yelp
Stopped on my way to Steamboat, Co. For lunch. Found a gem. Clean, good service, homemade tasty food. Fresh salad, hot rolls with honey butter rounded off my Cordon bleu and mashed potatoes.
google avatar

Angela D.

Yelp
The food is absolutely top notch! The atmosphere was busy but the waitresses were on top of their service! Their food was cooked the way I asked it to and their cheesecake was amazing! Will definitely eat there again.

Yelp
The best prime ribeye, perfectly cooked, medium rare definitely on spot. The sides are very good also.

Yelp
Came here for dinner when the SO and I were in town earlier this year. This place seemed like a real local joint as we saw legit cowboys here, which certainly tickled our fancies. This place is a steakhouse, so of course their specialty would be steaks. They had a few other entrees on their list as well, including a pasta dish or so, which was what I opted for, and a side of steamed veggies. The SO got one of their steaks and a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. Our portions were HUGE and I thought it was funny that my side of steamed veggies were covered in a blanket of shredded cheese. We both enjoyed our meals, and we certainly got quite the bang for our buck here. Service was friendly and prompt, and prices were very reasonable, so I would recommend this place for people near this part of the country.

Yelp
My wife and I had the great pleasure of dining at Swain Brothers. We both ordered steak Sicilian style. This was the most amazing meal in recent memory. My wife ordered sirloin and scampi, steak said 10oz on the menu, it looked closer to 20. Large portions amazing beef quality and the service was amazing. I highly recommend this place.

Heather M.

Yelp
We try to find the best food everywhere we go and spend a long time looking at reviews. I'm so glad we chose to go here. The food was incredible! The chicken pesto sandwich had great flavor. The sirloin steak (which was all you could eat) was huge and hand cut. We didn't expect much as it was all you could eat, but it was 10/10 and we've been to Ruth's Chris. The mashed potatoes were some of the best we've ever had. The parmesan fries and sweet potato fries were delicious too. We enjoyed the salad, soup and rolls as well. We felt like we got a ton of food for the price. Our waitress Sam was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was clean and had fun pictures on the walls. We will definitely be returning if we ever are in Vernal again.

Yelp
What a relief to find a decent place open on a Sunday. I was in town on business and was looking for something to eat before heading back and walked into this fine place. There was a menu board that greeted me with a few specials for the day. I jumped at the clam chowder and the prime grade thick cut rib eye. The soup was wonderful. It would have to rank somewhere in the top 3 clam chowders I've ever had (includes time spent in Seattle & San Francisco). The only thing I'd say about the soup that kept it from perfection, it didn't come out hot. It was lukewarm -not cold and still good though. My steak was cooked perfectly (not flame grilled if you're snobby about that). It appeared seared and broiled. The slight disappointment about the steak, approximately 25-30% were large chunks of fat. It was thick cut and only 8oz, it felt like I got the short end of the stick when it came to value, having to leave so much cut out. I'd be back if in the area again. For sure be looking for that soup.

Yelp
awesome food, big portions and great people! I will recommend swains to everyone I know ..and the prime rib is the best around!!

Yelp
We had lunch on the patio. Extremely friendly and thoughtful service, great food for a good price.

Yelp
Service from Lexus and the other staff was great. The food quality and quantity was a total surprise. Steak medallions were fantastic, shrimp was great. My wife had the green chili burger and it was awesome as well. Shocked to find such great meats and a huge menu in such a small town. Definitely be back.

Yelp
We took a day trip to Vernal and after a long day of hiking wanted something filling. I'm a bit skeptical of small town steakhouses... but the reviews were promising. This place did not disappoint. First, a big basket of the most perfect hot and fully rolls with a sweet butter. Steak was cooked to a perfect medium well (my request). The lovely waitress McKayla gave me a drink refill to go and an extra piece of cake because the kind I ordered wasn't available. My husband got the nachos and ate them for 20 minutes without making a dent. The quantity for price is insane! Altogether I walked away SO pleasantly surprised and incredibly full. If you're passing through Vernal, be sure to stop here!

Yelp
I wasn't real impressed. My budget couldn't afford an expensive steak, so I ordered a less expensive cowboy style chicken cordon bleu. I probably didn't understand the description on the menu, but it wasn't anything like what I expected and frankly, it wasn't great. Just a boneless piece of chicken breast with cheese on it and a slab of rather tough bacon, all covered in a creamy sauce. The sauce was for sure the best part. Should have stuck with the chicken fettuccine Alfredo that I first looked at.

Wade C.

Yelp
We were in Vernal for a wedding. We went to Swain Brothers our last night in town and were impressed by the meal.

Arnold S.

Yelp
Service was very slow and when it time to pay. We had to ask for the bill. The steak was fatty and tough to chew but was okay. Was disappointed in not getting a least a few vegetables other than the salad. My wife didn't want any potatoes so she got nothing. The waitress was more interested in the kids in the brewery than the customers there to eat.

Yelp
After a recent move to the Vernal area, I heard this was a great restaurant to go if I wanted good steak or prime rib. If it wasn't for the stellar service that Adam provided me, I would most likely give a 0 star rating. The atmosphere is great, the service and staff is friendly, but where they lack is the most important place of the restaurant - the kitchen. I ordered the blackened prime rib and I was thinking like other places who offer the same cut and style is a 2 minute sear on one side and perhaps a 2 minute sear on the other side. Nope, how about a prime rib well done. In addition, the prime rib cut for nearly $30 was mainly fat and blubber. Very limited meat. Not a good price for the amount of fat. My wife got the steak medallions and she asked me to taste it. The sauce was thick. It was like meat sitting in a plated swamp. You needed an oar to go through the cream. You could taste the flour in it. Based on these items, I would probably stay away from eh, steak, at a steak house. What you can stay with are the side salads. Good looking greens, fresh tomatoes, and that was yummy. For tourist season, this is probably a place to stay away from. Will I give it another chance, perhaps when they get a chef than show good flavor profiles, understand what cooking temperature for meat is, and understands that sauce inconsistencies are not good.

Michael C.

Yelp
After driving all day, I was looking forward to relaxing and enjoying a good meal. I walked in and waited to be seated. Several rude employees walked past me without even acknowledging my presence. I finally gave up and went to a restaurant down the street.
google avatar

Heather Z.

Yelp
Great service and enjoyed our dinner choices. I had the Zesty Chicken sandwich and while it was good, it wasn't spicy. The fries were fresh cut and the fry sauce was so good. My husband's dinner was amazing. He ordered the Colorado Green Chile Burger. It was prepared well and every bite had delicious flavor.

Chris K.

Yelp
Amazing food I know they're supposed to be famous for steaks but their clam chowder is incredible! We never even think of going anywhere else when we visit from Salt Lake. Had the prime rib sandwich today. Truly excellent! Our server Gavin was attentive, helpful, pleasant and made our dining experience even better.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
My husband had fajitas, which he said were "fine". My filet was cooked correctly and quite tasty. We both loved the buffalo cauliflower. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Sophie N.

Yelp
Good food, service is questionable. We came at an odd time, about 3 pm so it was very quiet and the servers were kinda in lala land, there were dirty tables, messes on the floor, unused high chairs in the middle of the aisle. The food was very good, and the menu was extensive! Beautiful restaurant with beautiful outdoor seating, staff just need to pick up the pace.
google avatar

Adam A.

Yelp
We have friends that are former employees at Swains that warned us about the lack of cleanliness in the kitchen and poor hygiene of the employees, but there aren't many options for breakfast in Vernal on Sundays. The staff at Dennys are making obvious drug transactions on the side of the building and coughing up a lung behind the building on their breaks while sharing vape pens, so we crossed that off our list. So today we decided to give Swains another shot and were grossed out again. All of our food was burnt to a crisp my biscuit was so hard I bent the butter knife trying to cut it and our waters had sea monkeys in them. Praying for a decent clean place to open here in Vernal that serves good breakfast, I'll pay extra if it's good lol.

Thomas F.

Yelp
Stopped there mid-day on a road trip. Very good burgers and friendly servers. Excellent lunch option.
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
I've always said that Swains is the only restaurant worth visiting in Vernal, but that is no longer the case. After visiting on 2/2/23 all of the members of my lunch group got food poisoning (we all had the same meal.) But that isn't even the worst of it. The service was PATHETIC. I don't know if it was because my group and I were young adults or what but our waitress Alexa/Alexis was the worst service I've ever received. Our drinks were not filled once, she brought us to go boxes 10 minutes after receiving our meals & treated us horribly. Maybe Swains should put a little more thought into how they treat their younger clientele because we have a voice too. Will be sure to tell everyone about the abysmal service and quality of food.
google avatar

Ally M.

Yelp
A little on the expensive side but their New England Clam Chowder is so good! Pretty restaurant. Service was great.
google avatar

Ann F.

Yelp
We sat on the patio, sometimes noisy but nice. I also like the map on the tile floor. The food tastes great. A great selection of choices. I would go back again.
google avatar

Irisbeth G.

Yelp
Our Steaks were amazing. Our kids loved the chicken pasta so much!! We recommend the t rex nachos! Will go again for sure!! The staff was super friendly too and our server went out of his way to make sure everything was good!!
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
A visit to Swains today was serendipitous as in "let's try that place, it's local......". My colleague and I both had the Lady Cut of prime rib, which melted in my mouth. Swains tomato basil soup was creamy and scrumptious as was their side of sautéed veggies. Two thumbs up.

Cody P.

Yelp
Food is always good here! I would definitely recommend giving his place a try. Charbroiled ribeye is the best! Friendly staff and great service! Great atmosphere as well.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Excellent steaks from a restaurant tucked away in a Quality Inn. The place looks kinda run down, but steaks here are great! I had the ribeye. The juicy meat was seared really well. My wife had a burger. It was also thick and juicy with a nice sear. Fries were crispy. Mash potatoes were of the chunky variety but also rich. The show stopper was actually the fresh warm sweet rolls. So fluffy and somewhat moist with a hint of buttery sweetness. Service was also top-notch. Still can't believe we got great service, great portions, great tasting food in a somewhat dated restaurant in an inn!

Greg O.

Yelp
Potentially a great steak house. Friendly service, but....filets, we ordered medium rare, they came out totally under cooked, and one of filets was tough and grisly and hard to chew. Salads were big chunks of head lettuce and a watery base. Sorry, don't like leaving poor reviews but, they need to adjust.
google avatar

Brandon N.

Yelp
This place is sorely need of a full remodel. Has so much potential inside but looks very just thrown together and disjointed. We were put all the way in the back and told us it would be a little cold, which it was. Our server was actually very sweet and came back to us several times. The prices do match the quality of the food. The price is rival to a higher end steak house, which this is not. My steak should have been medium rare and was for most of it until I got to the center part that was still 100% raw. I could not chew it and ended up choking on it a little that made the experience a rough one. They do have a nice selection of beer though that always makes things nice in my opinion
google avatar

Alice D.

Yelp
On the way to Dinosaur NP and stopped in Swain Brothers for dinner. We were seated quickly and our server was very friendly. The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. We ordered steak for dinner. The rolls were hot and amazing. The salad was fresh and cold and the steak was delicious. I couldn't have been more pleased with my meal.

Christine S.

Yelp
Lots of options to eat. Portions are big. Love their soups. Dinner meals are expensive but there are some good lunch options. Buffalo cauliflower appetizer is so good.
