My experience here was okay. First impressions count for me, and didn't really vibe with the place at the start. When I came in for my dinner reservation, there was no host to be found at the front and people were piling up. When the guy finally came, it was the kind of energy that made you feel like you were imposing on them so that didn't really make me feel the most welcome. Our server also took a while to acknowledge our table. He saw that we were there because he walked by us several times but for some reason chose not to acknowledge us until much later. So, service overall: could be better. I had the Cumberland Bangers. The sausages were pretty dry and and crumbly in texture. The flavour was there, but yeah texture is not the best. The mashed potatoes were okay, but also didn't taste like the freshest. The caramelized onions in the gravy was nice to bring some sweetness into the dish. I wonder if that could have been pureed or something or just simmered during the making of the gravy to impart the depth of caramelized flavour, but I can't say I was a fan of the texture in the dish itself.

We recently stopped in for lunch and had a lovely experience overall. The fish and chips were well-prepared—the batter was crisp, and the fish was flaky and flavorful. While the mushy peas were a bit of a letdown (served cold and lacking seasoning), the main dish more than made up for it. Our server was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and efficient, which really enhanced our visit. We were seated in the front room overlooking the patio, providing a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy our meal. The restaurant boasts plenty of TVs, making it an ideal spot for sports enthusiasts. During our visit, there was a lively group of fans gathering for the big game, adding to the vibrant ambiance. Overall, it's a great place for a casual meal, especially if you're looking to catch a game. Just a slight improvement on the sides, and it would be a solid 5-star experience.

I loved the vibes at this place! The rustic, old-world charm was exactly what I expected—such a cozy, inviting atmosphere. It wasn’t too busy when I visited on a Sunday at 3 PM, which made for a relaxed dining experience. One thing that really caught my eye in the reviews was the use of purple cabbage. It looked so vibrant and fresh on the plate, and I couldn’t wait to see it for myself. I also noticed that the place didn’t have the best food pictures in the reviews, but I’m so glad I took a chance because the Sunday roast looked incredible. When the food arrived, it came quickly, and everything was beautifully presented. The meat was cooked perfectly medium-rare, just how I like it—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The gravy complemented the meat so well, adding that rich depth. The veggies were spot on—cooked to perfection, not too soft or too firm, and seasoned just right. The Yorkshire pudding was delicious, with the perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and softness inside, though it was a little more eggy than I prefer. For three of us, the total came to $130, which I thought was very reasonable considering we had three Sunday roasts and two mimosas. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend for a relaxed Sunday meal with great food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Google
What a wonderful place. Prior I had come for the Sunday roast and it was 10/10. Today we came for lunch and Hannah our server was absolutely fabulous. She was so knowledgeable about the food, and was so supportive of our quick turn around. We had the three course menu, and the Avocado toast and it was incredible. As a rule I would say this is the only place I would ever order a salad again and again. The Kale salad is a show stopper. (I haven’t ever said that ever about kale) the Fish and Chip came along with a tartar sauce that dreams are made of and the most delicious mushy peas. And I think their sticky toffee pudding with the vanilla bean ice cream should stop time. It’s piping hot and puts our families secret recipe to shame. The prices reflect quality and the beauty and skill of the staff. Your drinks are filled, along with your tummy and heart.

Traditional English pub food in a beautiful historic house. Atmosphere alone is worth a visit but the food certainly holds its own. Yorkshire pudding, scotch egg that comes runny, meat pies, bangers.. all on the menu u

Came here for winterlicious and enjoyed our food. We got the kale salad, olive and artichoke toast, haddock and chips, minced beef soccer pie, sticky toffee pudding, and apple and shortbread crumble. Everything came out hot and fresh, although our mains took quite some time to arrive. Our server was lovely and offered us coffee on the house because of the wait. While the flavours were all on point, I wish the fish and chip batter was a bit crispier (the middle got soft shortly after it arrived) and held onto the fish better as the batter came right off the haddock. And the mash that came with the soccer pie was a bit cold. The standouts were the desserts. Decadent, generous and delicious with a nice hot and cold contrast between the cake/crumble and ice cream.

Google
Great British spot in Toronto! Cozy indoor seating and a beautiful patio for nice weather. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the cheesecake was rich and delicious. Friendly service and a great vibe—highly recommend!

First, the atmosphere is fantastic and the food is great! First time having anything resembling British food and it was so good! The service was also wonderful! I would for sure come here again.

Yelp
Having gone to England earlier this year we now love to find an English Pub when ever we are traveling and lucking for us we were staying within walking distance of The Queen and Beaver. We made sure to make a reservation on a Sunday Night so the Sunday Roast would be available. Yes we did look it up a head of time just to make sure. We arrived for our reservation and were seated outside which was great because the weather was amazing. Once seated we checked out the menu and have to get some appetizers. We of course went with the classics, The Scotch Egg and the Sausage Roll. Both were very good. You really can never go wrong with an English Banger Sausage Roll and it being wrapped in a flakey Puff Pasty just really made it great. Was also a fan of the Brown Sauce it came with. The Scotch Egg was also really liked. I was a huge fan of the fact that the egg yolk was still runny in the middle. Makes it so much better then a fully cooked one. For my entrée I had to go with the Classic Ale Battered Fish & Chips. I will say it is on almost every menu at every restaurant in Canada but if I'm going to get it I figured the best spot to get it would be at an English Restaurant/Pub. I will say both the Fish and Chips were very good. The batter to fish ratio was perfect. Crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The Chips were also perfectly cooked, freshly cut and had a lot of flavor. Ashly got the Sunday Roast which I though was just alright. The Roast Beef was just tough in a couple bites and fatter then most. All and all we had a great dinner and if your looking for a great English Restaurant to have a nice traditional English dinner or just grab a drink then the Queen and Beaver is the place for you.

Yelp
Came in for brunch with some friends and had a really nice meal. Our server was polite and brought us coffee quickly. Everything was correct and was really tasty. It's really fun and quirky inside. I like that the mugs and plates were all different styles. It's cute. The food was good but the vibes were amazing.

Yelp
Fish and chips were yummy. The tartar sauce was unique and definitely needs more than what comes with the meal (we ended up ordering extra of the sauce). Fries were tasty and tasted fresh. They were seasoned well. Beer battered fish came out PIPING hot and tasted good. Server was pretty slow to refill our drinks and get us our check at the end. She didn't once ask to refill my coffee.... Ambiance is more on the casual side. I felt that the food was good but service was lacking.

Yelp
Awesome place that makes you feel like you're coming over to a friends place for some drinks and a nice home cooked meal. Literally, I think this place used to be a home . I definately recommend trying one of their three hot pies but the real show stopper was their scotch eggs. Perfectly cooked and nicely battered, I would order ten of these if I could. Side note: apparently there's some fun to be had In the men's bathroom. You'll have to go to see what I mean.

Yelp
I was recommended this restaurant for a trip to Toronto. It is located along the cutest block with outdoor seating. We grabbed a table outside for dinner and started with a round of beers. The staff was friendly and we got seated quickly. I ordered the fish and chips for dinner - super delicious. The only issues I had here was being on the patio, we had a man from the street come and spit on our table while eating and slightly harassing our table. The employees went out of their way to kick him out and make sure we were comfortable. Sad workers have to deal with this outside of their typical duties but it went a long way. Highly recommend !!

Yelp
Over priced English Breakfast horrible Not worth the wait or Money. Very busy on the weekends. Food was cold very dissatisfied with portion.

Yelp
Great little English pub in the heart of the city. A few streets north of the Eaton Centre sits this little pub. Beautiful exterior facade with an old English vibe inside. We couldn't find room downstairs so had to go upstairs. It was small and loud - but it still offered a cozy vibe. We ordered a few apps and cocktails because we wanted something light and our little table could not fit main dishes for sure. Beet salad was tasty and so were all the foie, salmon and toast dishes we ordered. Service was fantastic and thanks for finding my cell phone!! 4.5 stars

Yelp
Two tired visitors in Toronto, hungry with no direction, happened upon The Queen and Beaver. We were seated immediately on an outdoor patio. Our server was attentive and quick until we got our meals. Took a bit to get our bill. Meh. We were chillin' . The drinks were very good and our meals were excellent. The vibe of this place is relaxed but you'd think it was kinda fancy by our meals. Great atmosphere!

Yelp
Queen & Beaver is a charming, beautiful, pub with exceptional service. My husband and I visited on the afternoon of Sunday, June 30th and sat in the front room. We had a conversation with our waitress (I can't remember her name, but I hope she sees this) about the perceptions Americans and Canadians have of each other. It was the longest and most interesting conversation I've had with a stranger in years. The table next to us had a rather specific food allergy. The hostess checked with the chef to be absolutely sure the guest could enjoy a full meal safely. I got the cheeseburger and my husband got the Sunday roast. Both were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We will absolutely be back the next time we're in Toronto.

Yelp
We tried out the beans on toast option, salmon, and fish and chips, and all of the dishes were absolutely lovely. The sticky toffee pudding was fantastic as well. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Had the Sunday roast and a pint of Fullers. Delicious. Nice portion size. My only quibble and its minor was none of the delicious gravy was served on the very good Yorkshire pudding. Though it meant the pudding had a lovely crunchy crust.

Yelp
We went out with friends this nice summer day for lunch. The food was tasty with some interesting items which we ate before pictures could be taken. The server was very friendly and helpful especially when a particular spice in his sandwich did not agree with him. The sandwiches were too big for us so they came home with us . Overall a very nice lunch catching up with friends on their outdoor storefront patio.

Yelp
Great service and very chill ambiance, but that may be because of lunch time? The Queen and Beaver is decked out in Elizabethan/British decor. The menu had some stable British meals but other dishes of different cuisines as well. Definitely come stop by for!

Yelp
Nice quaint joint amidst all the mega structures of downtown Toronto. Very friendly staff. The food is great, don't expect massive portions, just the right amount you glutton. Get there early cause google maps lies and they will close early.

Yelp
The food was delicious. My daughter knows how her steaks are cooked, and she definitely enjoyed it. My wife loved the Seafood Pie. And I had the Fish and Chips, loved it. The batter was very light, and the fish was fresh and delicious. Our server was very nice and attentive to us. And my wife enjoyed the decorative theme of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I took a couple of my relatives here as we were in Toronto and looking for an interesting yet casual place to eat. We had no reservations and just kind of wandered around the area and came across this. It really hit the bill! Food was great and our server answered all of our questions. We had a couple of cocktails, I enjoyed the Q&B Manhattan which was decadent and delicious, while my cousin had a Pimm's Cup. For a starter i had the scotch egg. It was okay but it was served cold straight from the fridge and it was very heavily breaded, quite thickly coated so it was very bready. We also shared the Potato & Parmesan Croquettes. They were very light and tasty and the house made green goddess garlic dip sauce was a wonderful touch. For the main I had the Poached Salmon with Spiced Legume Salad. It was tasty, but it was definitely overly salty. Keep the water handy if you order this! My dinner mates ordered the Lamb Curry and the pie of the day, both which they thoroughly enjoyed along with the chocolate pot with sponge cake and marmalade for dessert. Overall it was a good experience, I will eat here again.

Yelp
I always love the food here. Cute little spot. Not too expensive. You can choose quiet or loud, depending on where you sit. There's also a street side patio.

Yelp
I love it! So nostalgic. Though it needs better bangers and mash. The staff was amazing.

Yelp
Before heading to the Toronto Blue Jays game we went to The Queen and Beaver Public House. Walking inside the restaurant definitely gave English Pub vibes! Our waiter was funny and one of the friendliest waiters we had in our vacation! We sat in the upstairs deck which overlooked the street and crowds and the view was amazing. I ordered the Mussels and everyone else ordered the Jerk Grilled Chicken & Spring Tamarind Succotash, Ale Battered Cod, Mushy Peas and Tartar sauce. The Mussels were perfectly cooked in a garlic white wine sauce and I felt I could have eaten 2 pots of these. My wife got the jerk grilled chicken which was seasoned well and it was my first time eating succotash and it's definitely on my list of regular meals! Their cream ale beer was good and the Guinness is a must! I will stop by here again next time I'm in Toronto!

Ian C.

Yelp
Went to Watch the Leafs game. The seating was comfortable and the food was good (fish and chips). The only issue I had was that they would not turn on the volume for the game, so I had to listen to music. I enjoyed it but it could have been much better!

Yelp
Took part of my team here for dinner. The food taste was excellent, I had the salmon, other had the burger. The pub itself had a nice home feeling to it and the service was good.

Yelp
A cozy little English style pub not far from Toronto City Hall. The cuisine was tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, with great service. This was a nice spot to enjoy dinner on a chilly Spring evening! 4.5 stars.

Yelp
Very nice pub with good food and friendly service. It is a small place so reservations are definitely recommended.

Yelp
Yummy food & a great waiter!! Perfect spot to grab a bite to eat across the hotel we staid.

Yelp
Went in for a drink and dinner. The service is awesome!! Everyone was very friendly! I had the fish and chips, which were delicious! They make everything in house, fresh, and you can taste it. Nice chill atmosphere. Will be back anytime in Toronto!!

Yelp
Did a group event here using the "Feasting Menu" which is promoted in their website but not yet reviewed anywhere I could find. There are many feasting choices that have varying minimums (8 for prime rib roast, for example). The feasts are served family-style, and came with lots of sides, gravy and veg, and a plate of excellent Yorkshire puddings. There is a private room available that is best suited to a group of 10 or less (allowing you to draw the curtain), but we squeezed 12 in with the curtain open. The roast itself was very good: good meat, well seasoned and cooked proper rare. It is expensive (about $39pp, but the traditional roast also looked good in Yelp pics and about $10pp less), but we got a lot, and there was no fee to bring an outside cake, which could save you a ton over buying everyone a dessert (with 10 people, that could add $100!). The other alternative we'd considered was "House on parliament" which is quite a bit less (under $25pp and includes dessert), but not prime rib and no reservations. The hand pulled rotating cask ale is the way to go for a drink: it's larger (20oz) and a little better deal ($8.75) than many of the other options, and a hand-pulled drink isn't something you find many places, so must-try (the beer is less gassy, and pours with a nice head - made for feasting!) Parking isn't easy, but if you're lucky you may get a street spot right outside for $5/hr.

Beth A.

Yelp
Great food and one of the servers, Christine was awesome! She made our evening so much fun! Thank you!!

Yelp
On a recent business trip, my colleagues and I had a great dinner at this cozy little pub. The ambiance was eclectic and reminded me a visiting my friends in UK. All kinds of cool nick-nacks on display. They had a good selection of beers as well the food was next level. Our server was very attentive and checked in us regularly. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
It was the fish and chips that drew me in when I found them on Yelp, but it turned out that the cheese burger (with stilton!) was what I ordered. Busy enough that the host didn't want to seat my party of one at a four top, but he did suggest a seat at the bar and that worked out very well. Friendly and fun service from the bartender who got me a cold draft beer (proper sized pint as well) and took my food order. Burger with fries took a while but it was fresh and hot and the cheese was sharp and melty. I enjoyed their ketchup but would have liked a bit more. I had a great meal at the Q&B, would definitely return. [Review 10965 overall, 737 of 2019.]

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. My colleague dining with me was from England, when the charm and food hit him in the feels, I knew it was a good sign. Had the chicken pot pie on special, it was very flavorful. Comfort food in a historic building was a great cap to the day.

Yelp
Visited here this past weekend for an early dinner and a drink. The food was excellent... better than typical pub-fare, and we loved the atmosphere. The place is a one-of, not a chain, and felt very authentic. I've been to pubs in London and across Ireland and this one would fit in nicely. The service was excellent... very welcoming. I've put this on my favourites list for when I'm in the city.
google avatar

Mabel L.

Yelp
I would give this place a 3.5...wish yelp allowed .5 scores. This is an upscale British pub. Prices is more expensive compared to typical British pub but the quality of food is not your average pub. I ordered the Salmon Wellington and it was tasty and good. The only thing to note is most entrees do not come with any sides....no vegetables or starch. You will have to order sides on top of your entree which costs more $$$. I have to admit I'm disappointed that they did not have Beef Wellington. I was told that they make them every Wednesday so I made a reservation for a Wednesday and they did not have it. :( I did order the sticky toffee pudding. They used molasses to make the cake which is not my favorite. The service was ok. We had a large group of 9 people and the service fee was already included in our bill which is expected. Our server was attentive and good until we all paid our bills. Then she disappeared. Our group was not ready to leave right away and stayed behind to chat. It would have been nice for her to at least refill our water or leave us a jug before she left. Overall, it was a nice restaurant. The decor was really nice and they have a really nice area at the back for large groups. I do need to come back to try their wellington. Just have to call before hand making sure they have it before making the reservation.

Yelp
A few weeks ago, my former advisor during my graduate years wished me happy birthday. He also let me know that he was in Toronto for a conference and that I should check it out. I was in southwestern Ontario on a staycation. I said that I couldn't make it to the conference, but would love to see him and my other past professors if they had a chance to go out for lunch or dinner. We are similar in that we are planners. He said that he would consult with my friend and past peer in this master's program, and would make something happen. He had asked me if Sunday night would work. It was perfect. He proceeded to book dinner reservations at The Queen and Beaver Public House. I headed downtown for a 7:30 pm dinner. I was taking a photo of the restaurant's entrance. My other former professor, who was with my former advisor, yelled my name out. I said that I was being a tourist in my own city, took the photo, and then went over to hug them both. We all then entered the restaurant. I have not seen them since I attended my graduation stateside. It had been seven years. We were a party of six. My friend and former peer was already seated in the restaurant with her husband. I also met a professor who joined the faculty after I had graduated. She sat next to me. We had a wonderful server. As a group of writers and researchers, I felt like we were grilling him on what the food items were on the menu. This restaurant serves British pub fare. You get a list of items without any descriptions or photos. He was patient and great in answering all our questions. It was also the last day of Summerlicious. I was the only person who went with that menu. For someone who has not participated in Summerlicious for years, I decided to go crazy and go twice this summer. I asked our server for help with choosing a beer. He asked if I liked smooth beers. I do. He recommended the Blood Brothers Brewing's Inner Eye Pale Ale. It had a hint of lemon and went down smooth. It was perfectly refreshing. I loved it. My friend and former peer ordered pork scratchings as a starter. She did not like them. She thought that they would be flavourful pork rinds. Both our former professor and I had one. They were boring and flavourless. My friend let the server know that they weren't tasty. He was thoughtful to take them away and not charge my friend for them. I ordered the following items from the Summerlicious menu: - Chilled tomato and cucumber soup with crusty bread - Monkfish and asparagus, with hazelnuts and tarragon brown butter - Lemon meringue pie I absolutely loved the chilled tomato and cucumber soup. It was the perfect combination on a hot night. It was nicely pureed and had a few diced cucumbers in it as garnish. The crusty bread was crusty where it should be and soft inside. Although the monkfish and asparagus was a smaller main portion than I had anticipated, it was delicious. The monkfish was flaky and flavourful. I loved the tarragon brown butter that worked nicely with the asparagus. It was tasty. Finally, the lemon meringue pie was divine. I love a tart lemon in a pie. This slice stood out. Simply outstanding! We had a wonderful evening catching up. My former advisor had the Sunday roast dinner, which consisted of roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, and roasted potatoes. It looked good. He was happy with his meal. My other former professor and the new one both went with the mushroom pithivier, which is essentially a wonderful mushroom filling inside puffy pastry. It looked amazing. They enjoyed their food, too. I made the suggestion to get a group photo before we left. We flagged our server, who moved our table to get a decent group shot. I was impressed. Washrooms are on the second floor. If you have mobility issues, you may have difficulty getting up and down the stairs. The women's washroom was clean, classy, and stocked nicely. Street parking is limited. I ended up parking in the Impark garage across the street, which is attached to the Chelsea Hotel. I had a great time with great company and yummy food. I'd come back here again. (288)

Yelp
The atmosphere here is fantastic. I only wish the food matched the cuteness. I can only speak from my brunch experience but I was disappointed. We sampled a variety on their brunch menu including their Sunday roast special. I have to admit that was the star of the food fest. The eggs benny and the standard breakfast were overcooked and overseasoned. Their sausages I have to say probably one of the most overseasoned with herbs and spices I've ever had. I think I would have preferred greasy. We couldn't place our finger on the herbs but oregano or thyme? Tasted like they dropped a whole bottle in the mix. The drinks were okay. Props go to the hot toddy, That's a cold killer for sure. I've come here for drinks before but hadn't tried the food. Again, the atmosphere is great. Would I go here again for food? Not the first place but perhaps drinks. Their version of a dark and stormy wasn't too bad at all.

Yelp
We ordered pies for takeout to heat up later in our hotel room. I had a cheeseburger pie which was comfort food personified. Hubby had a pie with meat and gravy. Both were delicious, We took home 2 other pies to eat later in the week. They traveled well and tasted just as good two days later (butternut squash and a soccer pie (minced meat & onion).

Yelp
Very British style pub near the Eaton Centre. Menu is British (fish &chips, bangers and mash, Shepard pie, etc) but it's a cut above usual pub fare. Lots of beer choices and other options. Service is welcoming and it feels very much like a village pub somewhere in southern England. Very comfortable seating.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
We ate upstairs and loved the atmosphere - it really feels like you're in a British pub (minus the ordering from the bar part). My partner ordered fish and fish and chips, and we both agreed they are the best we have EVER had in Toronto. The fish was cooked beautifully, and the batter was light and had great flavour (you could tell the oil was fresh). The only minor disappointment were the accompanying mushy - both not that tasty and also not at all what I remember mushy peas typically being like. I ordered the fish pie and it was delicious. Great flavour and the mashed potatoes on top were so creamy. Also my side of (non mushy) peas were perfectly cooked. My only complaint was towards the end of my meal I did find that the pie was a tad too salty. Slightly less salt and it would literally be the perfect meal. On top of the great food, the service was excellent, and the draught beers we had were crisp and clean tasting. We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
After already ordering and having some drinks, the owner asked my party to move downstairs, because he wanted to watch the soccer game and my table of 10 (with a reservation) was too loud for him to enjoy the game. We had to carry our own drinks to a different table. Meanwhile, only him and 2 people were watching the game.

Yelp
As a Brit living in the US I have been to my fair share of "British " pubs in the US and found the vast majority to be rather far away from the real thing - but on a trip to Toronto we found this gem around the corner from our hotel and given the fact we had been traveling since 3am with nothing but a granola bar and bad airline coffee - good British food with a beer sounded just the thing - and it was I was immediately transported back home as it reminded me of one of the many quaint pubs in my hometown. Small, cozy and filled with British artifacts ( and British staff) it had a nice charm about it ! The food was quintessentially British - my husband and daughter had fish and chips and the fudge was the closest I have ever seen to that you would find in a British Chippy !! I tried the eggs Benedict which was served on some kind of cheese scone which was delicious and our other child enjoyed a bacon butty - a classic dish for any Brit!! We tried some great IPAs , the only thing I did not love was the Caesar which to be fair tasted British as it seemed to be nothing more than some tomato juice and gin - it was missing the essential trimmings of horseradish , pepper , Worcester - and was overpriced for its simplicity and size !! That says the beer and great service made up for it !! Loved the setting , food and service and would be happy to visit again on this trip

Yelp
Ordered a double whiskey and got the puny pour in the pic. Nice place but don't think I'd go back because of the tiny drinks

Yelp
A lovely English pub with proper waitstaff and proper pub food, we quite enjoyed our visit on the second floor. Our waitress was exemplary. She knew her product and had clearly been taught how to properly serve a table. This is rare and very appreciated. With our server's coaching we both ended up with the chopped sirloin burger, which is as it sounds. The fries were great and the burger tasty but quite different in texture from a typical North American burger. The sticky toffee pudding was the best I've had with a lovely molasses based sauce. So good. Would I return? Yes would I recommend? Yes

Yelp
We were visiting Toronto last weekend and wanted to have an English breakfast. We found this place and it looked promising, as well as it being within walking distance from our hotel which was a plus. We made a reservation for 1030 on a Sunday, but there was no wait Whitney we arrived and were seated immediately. First, the service here is terrible! We were one of maybe 7 guests in the whole restaurant and it took forever for everything from our drink orders (coffee, tea and water) to our main course. I did order a mimosa while we waited and it came fairly quickly. As for the food, I am British, so a full English breakfast (minus that black pudding, which was in the description but never came) I was excited for. The toast, tomato, eggs and mushrooms were okay. The black pudding never came and I wouldn't have had it anyway. Now, the bacon.. it was definitely not good bacon nor what you would've expected. The sausage was more on a chorizo side and disgusting and the beans were definitely not Heinz or cooked well enough. It was a huge disappointment from the service to the food and I wish I would have read reviews prior to going. I would not recommend for breakfast at all. Maybe their Sunday roast and/or fish n chips are worth it, but if the service is anywhere close to breakfast, I would pass.

Yelp
First and foremost, super friendly waitstaff from host to servers. A colleague and I were looking for some hearty fare and some good brews, and we found it here. One of the specials of the night was a steak and mushroom cobblepot (think pot roast mixed with Shepard's Pie, just not burned to oblivion like pot roast tends to be). We both opted for that special, and it was delicious. The steak was not overdone, the mushrooms were the perfect amount of firm, and the brown sauce/gravy was super tasty. I would definitely recommend this place, and next time I'm in Toronto I'll be back. No pictures of the food, it was gone too quickly.

Yelp
First time coming here for brunch. I find it unusually quiet as it's usually noisy during dinnertime. Simply English menu. Portions are just nice, service is quick. But the fish pie is definitely better at the Oxley's in Yorkville. Cheeseburger I'd give a thumbs up! Ploughman's lunch seemed interesting, but sounds like the French equivalent to tartine. Maybe the weekend brunch would get me coming back.

Yelp
Husband and 12 ur old son went here for dinner and loved it. They say upstairs, outside*. The weather was perfect, the view was of the block, and they didn't have the noise of the street. Started with the pheasant and smoked ham terrine and deviled poached shrimp. Son like the shrimp so much, he called and asked if we could make this at home. Main courses: burger for my son and filet for hubby. Both were cooked to order and seasoned well. The menu changes weekly. Good food, good service, good value. *Note: they have table service in both a pub area and a restaurant area. The waiter did say, they don't sit kids outside after 8 pm as the pub area gets loud. Can't wait for all of us to visit!
