Avocado toast is great. Try the ol English meal

Food was great, we shared the fish and chips and Sunday roast. Service was awful, the waitress checked like 30 sec after the food hit the table, we didn’t even take a bite yet. Never checked in after that. No one filled our waters or gave a coffee refill. Our change was supposed to be $18 and she only brought $14. If you’re wondering where the other $4 of the tip went, maybe look in the register.

Such an interesting gastropub! Came by to try their sunday roast and it was quite delicious, but the sticky toffee pudding takes the cake! The prices wasn’t too bad and the service was excellent. Will definitely be back to try other menu items when in the area.

Great location and a true neighbourhood pub feel. The food and drinks are excellent — the fish and chips, burger, and beers really stand out. Cozy atmosphere with good service, and the rooftop patio is a gem, especially on nice days. The second floor is perfect for watching a soccer game, adding to the authentic British pub vibe. Prices are fair, portions are good, and the quality is consistent. Comfy, welcoming, and definitely one of the best pub experiences in Toronto.

I love the cozy vibes of this place. I had an event to attend at Yonge/Dundas area and wanted to watch Jays play-off after. All the bars at Yonge/Dundas were absolutely packed.Quickly walked up to Elm street and got seated comfortably. Fish & Chips for $30 might sound expensive but batter was so light, decent fish and fries were amazing! This is the bar & restaurant that is close to Yonge/Dundas but less touristy gem!

We recently stopped in for lunch and had a lovely experience overall. The fish and chips were well-prepared—the batter was crisp, and the fish was flaky and flavorful. While the mushy peas were a bit of a letdown (served cold and lacking seasoning), the main dish more than made up for it. Our server was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and efficient, which really enhanced our visit. We were seated in the front room overlooking the patio, providing a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy our meal. The restaurant boasts plenty of TVs, making it an ideal spot for sports enthusiasts. During our visit, there was a lively group of fans gathering for the big game, adding to the vibrant ambiance. Overall, it's a great place for a casual meal, especially if you're looking to catch a game. Just a slight improvement on the sides, and it would be a solid 5-star experience.

We made a reservation for a Thursday, and got patio seating. We got the summerlicious menu (Welsh rarebit on Pullmans loaf, salmon and charred baby gem, and classic sticky toffee pudding with vanilla bean ice cream), PLUS we ordered the beef and onion pie. I really enjoyed my meal here, especially the beef and onion pie and the sticky toffee pudding. The mashed potatoes from the pie were really salty but the sweet purple cabbage slaw really balanced it out. Service was only ok, it was pretty busy so we had a hard time flagging down a server at times.

One my favorite brunch places! Great for rugby, football ⚽️ 👏, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇬🇧 matches! Amazing beer 🍺, staff, environment! Amazing food!

Google
We had brunch at the Queen and Beaver recently, and overall it was a lovely experience. The service was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and relaxed — and we sat on the outdoor terrace, which made for a really nice setting. I can’t speak to the interior vibe, but the patio was great. The food was a bit hit-or-miss for me. My friends all really enjoyed their brunch dishes (and their plates looked amazing), but I went with the burger and fries and was a little underwhelmed. It’s more of a hearty, upscale-style burger — not a classic smash burger, which to be fair, they don’t claim it is. Just a personal preference, and it felt a touch pricey for what it was. That said, our friends who brought us here absolutely love this place and say it’s consistently good for both brunch and dinner. So while it wasn’t a standout meal for me personally, I’d still say it’s worth checking out — especially if you’re after a chill patio brunch spot in downtown Toronto with great service.

Yelp
This is a high-end pub (public house). The pub fare is upscale compared to a typical pub. It is set in a Victorian house. We came a few times. One time, we came during Sunday brunch and ordered the following: 1. Ale Battered Cod & Chips with Mushy Peas & Tartare Sauce. 2. The Q&B Full English Breakfast. 3. Avocado Toast with Fried Haloumi & Sunny Eggs. As expected with upscale food, their food was quite good. The service was good. There is a main dining room, a smaller one at the front windows, and a small room with a single long table. There is also a full bar. Upstairs, there is a lounge with a big screen TV and a bar for hosting sports game events. There is a very nice outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible since it is in a Victorian house. There are separate male/female washrooms upstairs. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-267

Yelp
I really enjoyed my Sunday British brunch here. Firstly, there is free parking right outside along Elm until 1pm (Sundays only). There isn't a line-up to get in unlike nearby brunch spots so you'll easily find a seat at least when I was here on a December. While the scotch egg isn't on their brunch menu, you can always order it off the menu. It's really good and not often, you'll find that in many restaurants. Bonus check out their Sunday roast starting at noon (we were there too early for it but it looks good!). We also got the halloumi toast with a pickled egg, which was a substantial size than expected and Q&B breakfast, which is great too. You can even get the toast fried... which we haven't tried. It's so good but probably not something you'll eat often because it ain't healthy. The service was top notch and friendly and the vibe is warm. I think the reason why it's not so busy it's because people think of this as more of a pub but they serve good brunch too! Also I feel like the signage doesn't stand as much on the street.

Yelp
A true English pub vibe right in the heart of downtown. I didn't even realize how authentic it felt until I came here during a Euro soccer game--when England scored, the whole place erupted with cheers. It honestly felt like I was in London for a moment. The people here are super friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. To be fair, the food is just okay, nothing to rave about, but that's not really why you come. This is all about the energy: watching a match, meeting people, and soaking in that lively pub spirit. If you want to experience what an English pub feels like without leaving Toronto--or just want a fun place to catch a game--this is definitely the spot in the downtown core.

Yelp
Best pie I've ever had outside of the UK! Service was great, and the outdoor seating is prime for people watching and good night air. I had the beef and onion pie - which was fall apart/melt in your mouth deliciousness! My husband had the steak which was perfectly done. Their description of the Syrah is accurate - it pairs well with pretty much everything on the menu.

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere, food and service. Great steaks. Enjoyable dining experience we met a friend and had a great time

Yelp
Having gone to England earlier this year we now love to find an English Pub when ever we are traveling and lucking for us we were staying within walking distance of The Queen and Beaver. We made sure to make a reservation on a Sunday Night so the Sunday Roast would be available. Yes we did look it up a head of time just to make sure. We arrived for our reservation and were seated outside which was great because the weather was amazing. Once seated we checked out the menu and have to get some appetizers. We of course went with the classics, The Scotch Egg and the Sausage Roll. Both were very good. You really can never go wrong with an English Banger Sausage Roll and it being wrapped in a flakey Puff Pasty just really made it great. Was also a fan of the Brown Sauce it came with. The Scotch Egg was also really liked. I was a huge fan of the fact that the egg yolk was still runny in the middle. Makes it so much better then a fully cooked one. For my entrée I had to go with the Classic Ale Battered Fish & Chips. I will say it is on almost every menu at every restaurant in Canada but if I'm going to get it I figured the best spot to get it would be at an English Restaurant/Pub. I will say both the Fish and Chips were very good. The batter to fish ratio was perfect. Crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The Chips were also perfectly cooked, freshly cut and had a lot of flavor. Ashly got the Sunday Roast which I though was just alright. The Roast Beef was just tough in a couple bites and fatter then most. All and all we had a great dinner and if your looking for a great English Restaurant to have a nice traditional English dinner or just grab a drink then the Queen and Beaver is the place for you.

Yelp
Came here for winterlicious and enjoyed our food. We got the kale salad, olive and artichoke toast, haddock and chips, minced beef soccer pie, sticky toffee pudding, and apple and shortbread crumble. Everything came out hot and fresh, although our mains took quite some time to arrive. Our server was lovely and offered us coffee on the house because of the wait. While the flavours were all on point, I wish the fish and chip batter was a bit crispier (the middle got soft shortly after it arrived) and held onto the fish better as the batter came right off the haddock. And the mash that came with the soccer pie was a bit cold. The standouts were the desserts. Decadent, generous and delicious with a nice hot and cold contrast between the cake/crumble and ice cream.

Yelp
Came in for brunch with some friends and had a really nice meal. Our server was polite and brought us coffee quickly. Everything was correct and was really tasty. It's really fun and quirky inside. I like that the mugs and plates were all different styles. It's cute. The food was good but the vibes were amazing.

Yelp
Super cute. I had the burger with a salad, was really yummy. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
The food is fresh and well cooked. It is traditional pub food with some British twists. The service was good, but they were short staffed and you could tell. We sat outside, which was beautiful as it was a beautiful day, but the view is just a street.

Yelp
Excellent British pub! Tried everything over a 3 night period and loved it all. My favorite was the bangers and mash. Don't miss this place!

Yelp
I was recommended this restaurant for a trip to Toronto. It is located along the cutest block with outdoor seating. We grabbed a table outside for dinner and started with a round of beers. The staff was friendly and we got seated quickly. I ordered the fish and chips for dinner - super delicious. The only issues I had here was being on the patio, we had a man from the street come and spit on our table while eating and slightly harassing our table. The employees went out of their way to kick him out and make sure we were comfortable. Sad workers have to deal with this outside of their typical duties but it went a long way. Highly recommend !!

Yelp
Food was decent but the service is a bit slow. We split the fish and chips for lunch.

Yelp
Food was excellent service was attentive without being intrusive ambience was comfortable all in all a relaxed and delicious dinner

Yelp
Fish and chips were yummy. The tartar sauce was unique and definitely needs more than what comes with the meal (we ended up ordering extra of the sauce). Fries were tasty and tasted fresh. They were seasoned well. Beer battered fish came out PIPING hot and tasted good. Server was pretty slow to refill our drinks and get us our check at the end. She didn't once ask to refill my coffee.... Ambiance is more on the casual side. I felt that the food was good but service was lacking.

Yelp
Over priced English Breakfast horrible Not worth the wait or Money. Very busy on the weekends. Food was cold very dissatisfied with portion.

Yelp
Two tired visitors in Toronto, hungry with no direction, happened upon The Queen and Beaver. We were seated immediately on an outdoor patio. Our server was attentive and quick until we got our meals. Took a bit to get our bill. Meh. We were chillin' . The drinks were very good and our meals were excellent. The vibe of this place is relaxed but you'd think it was kinda fancy by our meals. Great atmosphere!

Yelp
Queen & Beaver is a charming, beautiful, pub with exceptional service. My husband and I visited on the afternoon of Sunday, June 30th and sat in the front room. We had a conversation with our waitress (I can't remember her name, but I hope she sees this) about the perceptions Americans and Canadians have of each other. It was the longest and most interesting conversation I've had with a stranger in years. The table next to us had a rather specific food allergy. The hostess checked with the chef to be absolutely sure the guest could enjoy a full meal safely. I got the cheeseburger and my husband got the Sunday roast. Both were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We will absolutely be back the next time we're in Toronto.
google avatar

Rosa H.

Yelp
Great service and very chill ambiance, but that may be because of lunch time? The Queen and Beaver is decked out in Elizabethan/British decor. The menu had some stable British meals but other dishes of different cuisines as well. Definitely come stop by for!
google avatar

Paula S.

Yelp
We tried out the beans on toast option, salmon, and fish and chips, and all of the dishes were absolutely lovely. The sticky toffee pudding was fantastic as well. Would definitely recommend.

David G.

Yelp
Had the Sunday roast and a pint of Fullers. Delicious. Nice portion size. My only quibble and its minor was none of the delicious gravy was served on the very good Yorkshire pudding. Though it meant the pudding had a lovely crunchy crust.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome place that makes you feel like you're coming over to a friends place for some drinks and a nice home cooked meal. Literally, I think this place used to be a home . I definately recommend trying one of their three hot pies but the real show stopper was their scotch eggs. Perfectly cooked and nicely battered, I would order ten of these if I could. Side note: apparently there's some fun to be had In the men's bathroom. You'll have to go to see what I mean.

Yelp
We went out with friends this nice summer day for lunch. The food was tasty with some interesting items which we ate before pictures could be taken. The server was very friendly and helpful especially when a particular spice in his sandwich did not agree with him. The sandwiches were too big for us so they came home with us . Overall a very nice lunch catching up with friends on their outdoor storefront patio.

Yelp
I took a couple of my relatives here as we were in Toronto and looking for an interesting yet casual place to eat. We had no reservations and just kind of wandered around the area and came across this. It really hit the bill! Food was great and our server answered all of our questions. We had a couple of cocktails, I enjoyed the Q&B Manhattan which was decadent and delicious, while my cousin had a Pimm's Cup. For a starter i had the scotch egg. It was okay but it was served cold straight from the fridge and it was very heavily breaded, quite thickly coated so it was very bready. We also shared the Potato & Parmesan Croquettes. They were very light and tasty and the house made green goddess garlic dip sauce was a wonderful touch. For the main I had the Poached Salmon with Spiced Legume Salad. It was tasty, but it was definitely overly salty. Keep the water handy if you order this! My dinner mates ordered the Lamb Curry and the pie of the day, both which they thoroughly enjoyed along with the chocolate pot with sponge cake and marmalade for dessert. Overall it was a good experience, I will eat here again.

Yelp
Nice quaint joint amidst all the mega structures of downtown Toronto. Very friendly staff. The food is great, don't expect massive portions, just the right amount you glutton. Get there early cause google maps lies and they will close early.

Yelp
went to watch the women's euro final, had a thornbury cider ($12) which was pretty decent.

Yelp
Great little English pub in the heart of the city. A few streets north of the Eaton Centre sits this little pub. Beautiful exterior facade with an old English vibe inside. We couldn't find room downstairs so had to go upstairs. It was small and loud - but it still offered a cozy vibe. We ordered a few apps and cocktails because we wanted something light and our little table could not fit main dishes for sure. Beet salad was tasty and so were all the foie, salmon and toast dishes we ordered. Service was fantastic and thanks for finding my cell phone!! 4.5 stars

S C.

Yelp
The food was delicious. My daughter knows how her steaks are cooked, and she definitely enjoyed it. My wife loved the Seafood Pie. And I had the Fish and Chips, loved it. The batter was very light, and the fish was fresh and delicious. Our server was very nice and attentive to us. And my wife enjoyed the decorative theme of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Took part of my team here for dinner. The food taste was excellent, I had the salmon, other had the burger. The pub itself had a nice home feeling to it and the service was good.

Yelp
I always love the food here. Cute little spot. Not too expensive. You can choose quiet or loud, depending on where you sit. There's also a street side patio.

Yelp
A cozy little English style pub not far from Toronto City Hall. The cuisine was tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, with great service. This was a nice spot to enjoy dinner on a chilly Spring evening! 4.5 stars.

Kiriaky D.

Yelp
I love it! So nostalgic. Though it needs better bangers and mash. The staff was amazing.

Ian C.

Yelp
Went to Watch the Leafs game. The seating was comfortable and the food was good (fish and chips). The only issue I had was that they would not turn on the volume for the game, so I had to listen to music. I enjoyed it but it could have been much better!
google avatar

Yelp
On a recent business trip, my colleagues and I had a great dinner at this cozy little pub. The ambiance was eclectic and reminded me a visiting my friends in UK. All kinds of cool nick-nacks on display. They had a good selection of beers as well the food was next level. Our server was very attentive and checked in us regularly. I would definitely go back.

Michael R.

Yelp
Very nice pub with good food and friendly service. It is a small place so reservations are definitely recommended.

Yelp
Before heading to the Toronto Blue Jays game we went to The Queen and Beaver Public House. Walking inside the restaurant definitely gave English Pub vibes! Our waiter was funny and one of the friendliest waiters we had in our vacation! We sat in the upstairs deck which overlooked the street and crowds and the view was amazing. I ordered the Mussels and everyone else ordered the Jerk Grilled Chicken & Spring Tamarind Succotash, Ale Battered Cod, Mushy Peas and Tartar sauce. The Mussels were perfectly cooked in a garlic white wine sauce and I felt I could have eaten 2 pots of these. My wife got the jerk grilled chicken which was seasoned well and it was my first time eating succotash and it's definitely on my list of regular meals! Their cream ale beer was good and the Guinness is a must! I will stop by here again next time I'm in Toronto!
google avatar

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. My colleague dining with me was from England, when the charm and food hit him in the feels, I knew it was a good sign. Had the chicken pot pie on special, it was very flavorful. Comfort food in a historic building was a great cap to the day.

Yelp
A few weeks ago, my former advisor during my graduate years wished me happy birthday. He also let me know that he was in Toronto for a conference and that I should check it out. I was in southwestern Ontario on a staycation. I said that I couldn't make it to the conference, but would love to see him and my other past professors if they had a chance to go out for lunch or dinner. We are similar in that we are planners. He said that he would consult with my friend and past peer in this master's program, and would make something happen. He had asked me if Sunday night would work. It was perfect. He proceeded to book dinner reservations at The Queen and Beaver Public House. I headed downtown for a 7:30 pm dinner. I was taking a photo of the restaurant's entrance. My other former professor, who was with my former advisor, yelled my name out. I said that I was being a tourist in my own city, took the photo, and then went over to hug them both. We all then entered the restaurant. I have not seen them since I attended my graduation stateside. It had been seven years. We were a party of six. My friend and former peer was already seated in the restaurant with her husband. I also met a professor who joined the faculty after I had graduated. She sat next to me. We had a wonderful server. As a group of writers and researchers, I felt like we were grilling him on what the food items were on the menu. This restaurant serves British pub fare. You get a list of items without any descriptions or photos. He was patient and great in answering all our questions. It was also the last day of Summerlicious. I was the only person who went with that menu. For someone who has not participated in Summerlicious for years, I decided to go crazy and go twice this summer. I asked our server for help with choosing a beer. He asked if I liked smooth beers. I do. He recommended the Blood Brothers Brewing's Inner Eye Pale Ale. It had a hint of lemon and went down smooth. It was perfectly refreshing. I loved it. My friend and former peer ordered pork scratchings as a starter. She did not like them. She thought that they would be flavourful pork rinds. Both our former professor and I had one. They were boring and flavourless. My friend let the server know that they weren't tasty. He was thoughtful to take them away and not charge my friend for them. I ordered the following items from the Summerlicious menu: - Chilled tomato and cucumber soup with crusty bread - Monkfish and asparagus, with hazelnuts and tarragon brown butter - Lemon meringue pie I absolutely loved the chilled tomato and cucumber soup. It was the perfect combination on a hot night. It was nicely pureed and had a few diced cucumbers in it as garnish. The crusty bread was crusty where it should be and soft inside. Although the monkfish and asparagus was a smaller main portion than I had anticipated, it was delicious. The monkfish was flaky and flavourful. I loved the tarragon brown butter that worked nicely with the asparagus. It was tasty. Finally, the lemon meringue pie was divine. I love a tart lemon in a pie. This slice stood out. Simply outstanding! We had a wonderful evening catching up. My former advisor had the Sunday roast dinner, which consisted of roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, and roasted potatoes. It looked good. He was happy with his meal. My other former professor and the new one both went with the mushroom pithivier, which is essentially a wonderful mushroom filling inside puffy pastry. It looked amazing. They enjoyed their food, too. I made the suggestion to get a group photo before we left. We flagged our server, who moved our table to get a decent group shot. I was impressed. Washrooms are on the second floor. If you have mobility issues, you may have difficulty getting up and down the stairs. The women's washroom was clean, classy, and stocked nicely. Street parking is limited. I ended up parking in the Impark garage across the street, which is attached to the Chelsea Hotel. I had a great time with great company and yummy food. I'd come back here again. (288)

Yelp
Yummy food & a great waiter!! Perfect spot to grab a bite to eat across the hotel we staid.

Yelp
Visited here this past weekend for an early dinner and a drink. The food was excellent... better than typical pub-fare, and we loved the atmosphere. The place is a one-of, not a chain, and felt very authentic. I've been to pubs in London and across Ireland and this one would fit in nicely. The service was excellent... very welcoming. I've put this on my favourites list for when I'm in the city.

Rebekah T.

Yelp
Went in for a drink and dinner. The service is awesome!! Everyone was very friendly! I had the fish and chips, which were delicious! They make everything in house, fresh, and you can taste it. Nice chill atmosphere. Will be back anytime in Toronto!!

Yelp
As a Brit living in the US I have been to my fair share of "British " pubs in the US and found the vast majority to be rather far away from the real thing - but on a trip to Toronto we found this gem around the corner from our hotel and given the fact we had been traveling since 3am with nothing but a granola bar and bad airline coffee - good British food with a beer sounded just the thing - and it was I was immediately transported back home as it reminded me of one of the many quaint pubs in my hometown. Small, cozy and filled with British artifacts ( and British staff) it had a nice charm about it ! The food was quintessentially British - my husband and daughter had fish and chips and the fudge was the closest I have ever seen to that you would find in a British Chippy !! I tried the eggs Benedict which was served on some kind of cheese scone which was delicious and our other child enjoyed a bacon butty - a classic dish for any Brit!! We tried some great IPAs , the only thing I did not love was the Caesar which to be fair tasted British as it seemed to be nothing more than some tomato juice and gin - it was missing the essential trimmings of horseradish , pepper , Worcester - and was overpriced for its simplicity and size !! That says the beer and great service made up for it !! Loved the setting , food and service and would be happy to visit again on this trip

Beth A.

Yelp
Great food and one of the servers, Christine was awesome! She made our evening so much fun! Thank you!!

Yelp
Very British style pub near the Eaton Centre. Menu is British (fish &chips, bangers and mash, Shepard pie, etc) but it's a cut above usual pub fare. Lots of beer choices and other options. Service is welcoming and it feels very much like a village pub somewhere in southern England. Very comfortable seating.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
We ate upstairs and loved the atmosphere - it really feels like you're in a British pub (minus the ordering from the bar part). My partner ordered fish and fish and chips, and we both agreed they are the best we have EVER had in Toronto. The fish was cooked beautifully, and the batter was light and had great flavour (you could tell the oil was fresh). The only minor disappointment were the accompanying mushy - both not that tasty and also not at all what I remember mushy peas typically being like. I ordered the fish pie and it was delicious. Great flavour and the mashed potatoes on top were so creamy. Also my side of (non mushy) peas were perfectly cooked. My only complaint was towards the end of my meal I did find that the pie was a tad too salty. Slightly less salt and it would literally be the perfect meal. On top of the great food, the service was excellent, and the draught beers we had were crisp and clean tasting. We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Did a group event here using the "Feasting Menu" which is promoted in their website but not yet reviewed anywhere I could find. There are many feasting choices that have varying minimums (8 for prime rib roast, for example). The feasts are served family-style, and came with lots of sides, gravy and veg, and a plate of excellent Yorkshire puddings. There is a private room available that is best suited to a group of 10 or less (allowing you to draw the curtain), but we squeezed 12 in with the curtain open. The roast itself was very good: good meat, well seasoned and cooked proper rare. It is expensive (about $39pp, but the traditional roast also looked good in Yelp pics and about $10pp less), but we got a lot, and there was no fee to bring an outside cake, which could save you a ton over buying everyone a dessert (with 10 people, that could add $100!). The other alternative we'd considered was "House on parliament" which is quite a bit less (under $25pp and includes dessert), but not prime rib and no reservations. The hand pulled rotating cask ale is the way to go for a drink: it's larger (20oz) and a little better deal ($8.75) than many of the other options, and a hand-pulled drink isn't something you find many places, so must-try (the beer is less gassy, and pours with a nice head - made for feasting!) Parking isn't easy, but if you're lucky you may get a street spot right outside for $5/hr.
