Overall I think it’s a decent hostel; you get what you pay for. Rooms decent, clean. Three other girls in my room, all very nice and we ended up becoming friendly and going out together. Staff were great, very helpful overall. I would love if they had more (any?) vegan options for breakfast, but I do appreciate the free coffee and tea all day. A bit far from the French Quarter but the neighborhood is safe and it’s only like a half hour walk or short/cheap Uber ride to the touristy parts. Some other reviews mention the loud front door and the blown out speakers — I agree that those were annoying, but the staff said they’re getting fixed soon, and also they didn’t ruin it for me. Overall not bad for a NOLA hostel on Jazz Feat weekend.

Google
The audible atmosphere can be enough to drive me out. The often top 40 pop music is blaring out of badly blown speakers. The electric lock on the entrance bangs and rattles against the frame five times before unlocking, very loudly and it's unsettling. Why not replace the speakers? Why not offer your travelling guests some local and culturally appropriate music to vibe to, at least a lot of the time? The customer service is lackadaisical and unrefined. The rooms look pretty clean, just don't go running your fingers along the fixtures, they seem to only gloss over the housekeeping. And use your locker and bring a lock, as you should @ any hostel. Things go missing here. This hostel would benefit from a little attention, it could be a sweet spot and I'd happily pay a higher price if the beds had privacy pods and properly trained staff. The atmosphere in the lobby is the real disaster of the place. Eas fix, I hope someones on it. Decent hostel breakfast, but overall just average with a couple problems.

I stayed for a week during Jazz Fest. Marcel and Nakira at the front desk made my stay wonderful. They were attentive and answered all my questions. Mary, Erica and Ari in housekeeping did an exceptional job keeping the room spotless and making sure linens were fresh each day. The breakfast was good and I ate it each morning. They have 24/7 coffee and the hostel is located right in front of the street trolley! I give it 5 stars hand down! I've travelled to 30 countries and this is my first American hostel and I must say it was a vibe!

Overall great place, comfortable rooms, well decorated, easy access to french quarter, good value. Except for the breakfast. Availability of food is inconsistent over three mornings. Different staff every morning: one was overwhelmed but helpful, one slept on the counter (no kidding), and the last you felt like you were bothering. And the noise! They all played either loud dance club or uninteresting Disney cartoon movies. In spite of the breakfast experience (minor downside), we would stay here again.

Google
Positive: The location is fantastic. You're steps away from the street car line that goes straight into the french quarter. Negative: DIRTY. Everywhere you look, it's clear nothing has been properly cleaned in years. There is dirt build up in every corner of every space in this hotel. The rooms are bare bones which I expected, but I didn't expect to have no rag? Negative: ""

Front desk staff was very attentive and helpful for my first time staying in a hotel. Bed was comfortable and it was a very nice experience. I stay in hotels 200 times a year and was nervous before I came but once I arrived I saw there was nothing to be nervous about and it was a great stay.

Google
The bed and room were comfortable. I felt safe, the staff were friendly and helpful. There was some noise from other guests but it didn't bother me and I was able to sleep well. The streetcar goes from right outside the door so it's really handy.

After coming from another hostel that had been rather inhospitable to me, the Quisby was my saving grace in a tricky situation. What's more, I don't believe I've ever had a better stay at a hostel in my entire life! The Quisby staff is super friendly and always willing to help. You can get fresh sheets or towel when you need, wash your laundry with provided detergent, eat provided breakfast, and with 24/7 bar + tea/coffee service you will never go thirsty! The rooms are nice too--very comfortable and clean. There's also lockers provided for your items protection, which is quite nice. Your food is safe in the fridge as well! Located right on St. Charles, it's right on the street car line if that's your jam, and not too far from Magazine St. if you feel like looking at local shops. Downtown New Orleans is right at your feet. I never felt unsafe once here and I hope others can feel confident in choosing the Quisby for their next stay. Thank you Anna + everyone else for making me feel welcome so far away from home!! ♡

Yelp
The location on st. Charles is perfect. 1 mile from the French quarter and all you do is step outside and there's a street car stop. Garden district just west up st. Charles. 24hr bar is super cool. I'm originally from the Westbank but was visiting this past weekend during the slower section of Mardi Gras season. Parade right in front the hostel was so convenient and fun. The bunk beds look relatively new, beds are comfy, bathroom was clean. Free laundry. Kitchenette area by the bar. I made a friend with a roommate to go on adventures with. The staff was helpful, especially Shai (spelling?) who was very friendly. Card key to get in building and room made me feel safer than other hostels I've been at. Staying here made my trip that much better! 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
-the staff is AMAZING- very friendly, welcoming and helpful (particularly Anne-Marie) -the place felt clean and the atmosphere was nice -the included breakfast is very small and had limited options so keep that in mind in your planning

Carey G.

Yelp
Extremely basic amenities and tiny room. Would only recommend for young people looking to find a decent place to sleep for cheap. Definitely not good for families. Noise at all hours from bar goers downstairs, slow check-in, and no good parking nearby.

CedrinaShari B.

Yelp
Front desk lady in the evening was extremely rude. Drug paraphernalia laid across her desk as she refused to check me in. Came for a quick rest after a show. Had to drive home 10 hrs to avoid sleeping on the street in a completely different state. Worst experience ever.

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Great experience! Love the location and it had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The lobby is nicely decorated and staff was super friendly. Surprisingly it was very quiet. Lots of parking all around! Looking forward to staying here again on our next visit!

Tony A.

Yelp
The staff helped themselves to the things in my luggage! They allow you to check your bag at checking in and out. I left to get coffee, only to find several items missing. The other travelers are easier to leave with you luggage. Anna Marie is the worst staff member.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
This was my first hostel experience, and I loved every moment. The staff was really friendly and kind. I was a little nervous, but Anna-Maria was amazing about educating me and my husband and explaining everything and helping us understand. Her knowledgeable insight and approach were like artwork. I was nervous, scared, and a little shy at first with my guard up, but she eased me to being comfortable and by the 2 day I was there having a great time. Breakfast time was my favorite time. The whole vibe that the staff creates for the guests makes everyone feel at home. I will most definitely come back!! And tell all my friends and family about this place.

SANDRA C.

Yelp
Good location, nice clean room with bathroom within with good wifi , they even have a bar within the location with good prices.Tours services available. They provide fresh clean towels and bath gel upon request . The elevator is squeaky... Due to covid their complementary breakfast was suspended. Understabable! We enjoyed our stay here.

Yelp
I have stayed here twice. The first time I stayed, the service was terrible and the people who worked there were AWFUL! So, so, so incredibly rude to the point where I felt uncomfortable staying there. It seemed like no one wanted to be there and acted as if you had punched their first born if you spoke to them and asked for an ounce of help or had any questions to ask. I received responses like, "what do you want me to do about it," "what do you want," & as I was checking out - the woman didn't even bother to look at me as I stood there at the desk patiently waiting to be helped. She then just got up and walked to the back. The location itself has really cool decoration & is cute. So, I stayed there again a few weeks later thinking that maybe everyone was having a bad day or maybe I got a bad batch of people that worked there and hopefully they would all be fired by the next stay. Empathy. Nope. I stayed again and it has become abundantly clear that this place is just crawling with people hired off the street that just need a check. Everyone has/had a MAJOR attitude, eye rolls, and a lack of care of any customer service. The service that I received and the way I was spoken to throughout my stay & over the phone when trying to ask questions was the worst service I have ever experienced. Rude, disrespectful, uncomfortable, beyond trashy, & embarrassing. I would normally say, "you get what you pay for. What do you expect for $50 a night?" But the service here is so so so uncomfortably rude that I would almost rather just be completely ignored. The $15-$20 extra to stay somewhere else is completely worth it! Southern hospitality must be a myth.

Yelp
This was my first solo trip and I decided to stay in quinsy. I think I made the most correct decision.it's very safe inside and it extreme clean. They have a good service and they are good in security. Nola is a very safe place over all but the area in which quisby is very safe. It's at walking distance from public transport if you need one.

Ryan S.

Yelp
More fun than Hi New Orleans Hostel Much better rooms than India House hostel but much smaller social areas and no kitchen. Better bar of course *City House Hostel* is sh**t! Breakfast: Doughnuts, Bagels, Coffee/Tea $2 Fauberg Blonde Lager during Happy Hour St Charles Trolley is $1.25 and stops if you just stand by the line! Good Breakfast at just two blocks West BEDS ARE SILENT! and made by a local Nola I'm told. Not noisy metal like the other three Hostels I've stayed at in Nola. Underbed Huge heavy Locker & Wall Lockers. Little Bendy Reading lights at every bunk Very trendy hipster hostel with a cocktail bar. Only stayed here one night and had a great experience. I was on the second floor in a co-ed bunk. The other bunkmates were respectful of my space and quite. Breakfast was included, pretty basic but had a few different options. They did not offer parking but there was plenty of street parking close by. This was a better option to a Air BnB and will stay here next time Im in NOLA Location was great for hopping on the streetcar up to the French Quarter or the bus down to Magazine Street. Right next to a Popeye's, but walk about fifteen minutes to find incredible fried chicken place at Gus'. Also a very easy walk to the Garden District. Grab some food and ride the bus down to Audobon Park for a picnic and some fresh air!

Yelp
I don't do New Year's resolutions but I said 2022. I was going to do everything different. Everything out the box. There's stuff that I just never did so I decided to stay at a hostel even though I'm in my hometown and I have family . Normally I stay in hostels when I travel out the country but I just wanted to try something different even though I was going back home. I just wanted to see what it was like since it's new and it had a buzz and people were talking about it. Well what it was like was better than any hostile I've ever stayed in overseas. They had a bar that was open 24/7. I said at the bar and laughed till 4:00 a.m. and then went to my bed and slept and got up in 4 hours and left before I left. They gave me a Continental breakfast which most places during COVID doesn't but they gave you packaged donuts and brownies and coffee and orange juice and all that it was very nice. The people were good. Yeah I had a roommate that snort real loud but the great thing about that is I have some earphones that blocks out everything. beds was comfortable. If you were solo travel er or in some sort of travel group and you want to save a ton of money, especially going to a city that's expensive. This is a great choice. Like I said, I normally stay at hostels when I travel out the country simply because I'm just sleeping getting up going to the next location. However this one had a bar and they gave you happy hour prices all night long so drinks were like $2.50. it was a good time. They also bring in a band so bands play but this is New Orleans so if you like the party it's there. They play up until about midnight. Great time. One night they had red beans and rice as well. Can't beat it.

Delling C.

Yelp
Coming in was fine. Didn't note the no food no drink sign. The elevator woke me up 2 or 3 times. Woke up at 3:30, with a bad taste in my mouth. Could have used something to drink. The taste made me queasy. It was noisy with footsteps, and I couldn't get back to sleep. In the morning, I went down for breakfast. There was a woman who couldn't get her room again. The worker was possibly bi-polar, and ranted extensively about people complaining. She made fun of my last name. This was out of left field. No call for it. The lady who checked me in told me I should secure the room for both nights, and I should have. The price nearly doubled. She failed to tell me that. I didn't mind. There was too much noise, and the morning worker was annoying. I would only suggest this place to young people who want to stay up all night and drink. The atmosphere is really cool. The free breakfast was better than no free breakfast. If you want a single room, the double room is cheaper by about 40%, but appeared unavailable. They have an app so ppl can meet each other. There was entertainment listed on it that involved electronic music. I raise it to 1 and 1/2 stars for that.

Vivian L.

Yelp
***BED BUGS Staff was ok not fantastic but ok. I wasn't told about key pad code when I tried to get in but got in then was TOLD I was told lol. BEWARE I received many bed bug bites on my back , neck and arms . I was laying on my back ... Once I returned from my trip I was able to call and advise the staff. Staff was very unapologetic, not concerned no sympathy at all just cool we will take care of it lol. I stayed in room #103 and slept in bottom bunk to the Right won't return

Yelp
Absolutely love the Quisby got me through my transition of life! Stayed here on 2020 at the start of the pandemic never had more than one other person in the room! Came to revisit the bar with a friend tonight had a great experience with the bartender but the gay black guy got mad at me and asked me for $2000 to take his video when I asked him if he was serious cause that's a "cunty" price he then, told me I should be more respectful to the staff meanwhile his only request was to delete the video,"which I agreed to do so" but when I did so, he got very rude and asked me to leave and never come back to which his coworkers and the person whom invite me there were very confused for his rudeness and sharp sass which I never prompted! I was just sad cause as another black person I never thought I would feel that type of power struggle or angst at a place that absolutely had nothing but the most sheltering staff I've ever encountered and was type disappointed. I'm sorry this 5 star usual experience was not what I cared to endure. & I wish I kept the picture, to show horrible staffing for a hostile dealing with multi cultures . Not sorry. Angry .

Stella C.

Yelp
The queen room was unclean and unkempt. I found several nail clippings, food particles, and hair upon check-in. It was quite disgusting! I didn't trust them to do a thorough cleaning so did it myself. I don't recommend staying here.

BB L.

Yelp
This was my first Hostel experience and honestly it was a pleasant one! It was clean, the staff was friendly and it was very homey! They had events going on downstairs every night. However, the rooms are small so if you need a lot of space, keep that in mind. For NOLA it's pretty affordable so check it out. Keep in mind that you won't be staying in the city but there's a trolley right outside the building that you can ride! If not, it's about a 25 minute walk to Canal street! Overall I would stay here again!

Ana C.

Yelp
Horrible experience, drug paraphernalia in bathroom, unprofessional assistant manager, staff can be heard speaking poorly of guests. Dirty sheets, stolen property, etc.

Jeffrey G.

Yelp
Honestly was my ideal place to stay at for the past couple years and now I'm disappointed to say i wouldn't recommend it. The staff they had before was better now it's just too ghetto and to be quite honest the HI New Orleans hostel is wayyyyyyyyyy better and great prices hands down. It was nice knowing ya quisby. But i definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT PLACE ANY MORE. GET BETTER STAFF.

Kelly A.

Yelp
Cute little spot for not only an overnight stay, but apparently, a quick drink! So, they have a 1-hour happy hour (7-8p) at the downstairs bar, but the deal is TOTALLY worth it...$2 well drinks! You can have 4 or 5 drinks within the hour and be set for the night. The bartenders were friendly and the one drink I had was strong! The post of napkins is a quirky yet nice touch, and my friend and I actually had a great time decorating a 3inx3in napkin. The lighting is sortve dim and sets a nice mood for post-work drinks. I'll definitely be back on a weekday at 7!

Ekiuwa O.

Yelp
When I arrived I was greeted with warm welcomes from the friendly staff. They were more than accommodating and helpful with my check-in process and navigating the city. The rooms were super spacious with convenient side tables, outlets, lockers, and all the basic amenities I needed. I'm a sucker for architecture, so I was in LOVE with the newly renovated building that oozed modern industrial with a nautical decor. Not to mention, the location was right in front of the trolley and a short drive to the french quarters. With 5 star ratings, who wouldn't want to check this place out!! I loved it so much that I even wrote about it on my lifestyle blog- https://afroinamerica.com/2018/02/09/my-first-hostel-experience-new-orleans-baby/ Check it out!

Ryan L.

Yelp
Stayed there for mardi gras last year. Fantastic staff, fantastic location. Will definitely be back. It's pretty basic but has everything you need

Preston I.

Yelp
Stayed here for a weekend conference. This was my first time in New Orleans, and the experience was definitely enhanced by staying at The Quisby. First of all, the concept is great and caters to young people. A European-like hostel in one of the coolest cities in America. There are shared rooms and private ones. I stayed in a room with two other guys. The check-in desk also serves as a 24 hour bar. The staff is great at giving suggestions for places to eat and sights to see. Free breakfast in the morning, and on occasion they bring in a local chef to sell their food in the hostel for dinner. Very convenient and an awesome way to support small businesses! The rooms are clean and stocked appropriately. Biggest concern is that the walls are thin, so it's easy to hear what's going on in the rooms next to you. It's hard to get some sleep if you have loud and drunk neighbors (which in a hostel in New Orleans, is to be expected). Also the sink and toilet are in separate areas. I didn't like having to leave the bathroom to wash my hands. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap place to sleep in the Big Easy!

Rush W.

Yelp
I checked in and the room was a mess . I went down to the front desk and the young lady stated no other rooms were available. She said my only option was to check out or stay in a coed room with males. I knew that I would not be able to sleep in the room and opted to check out at 10pm .

James O.

Yelp
Called to get a room because they stated they had a room. We paid and drove over 2 hours to get there. Once we arrived, we were told we had to have proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID test to stay there. That was not told to us on the phone or before making payment. No apologies to us and very unprofessional. This is the United States, you dont have to carry that kind of information around. They wouldn't give us the name of the owner or general manager. A mask is one thing and we would have complied with that but that was not necessary.

Jiachen J.

Yelp
Amazing people, lovely hostel, a haven from the chaos of a literal pandemic during a strange and scary time. I checked-in to the Quisby after getting kicked off my college campus, desperate for a last chance at freedom before several months of isolation in impossible-to-walk suburbs. Given the circumstances, I wasn't expecting to be having the time of my life. But the $2 wells during Happy Hour gave me a chance for social interaction that (probably) won't kill someone, and I met some really cool people in my couple days there. Location was great for hopping on the streetcar up to the French Quarter or the bus down to Magazine Street. Right next to a Popeye's, but walk about fifteen minutes to find incredible fried chicken place at Gus'. Also a very easy walk to the Garden District. Grab some food and ride the bus down to Audobon Park for a picnic and some fresh air!

Bruce G.

Yelp
Excellent example of a hostel should be for my experience they have paved the way for more trips to plan if your single or traveling with friends this is excellent and affordable way very quiet peaceful sleep no issue very safe and staff very friendly Will be back

Anil S.

Yelp
I am very happy to write a this review. I spend 4 nights over here. I was worried about stay because they charged very small amount from me. I told I wanna stay one night only. Once I enter reception lady help me about my stay. She explained about all facilities . When I reached my room, everything was there what they mentioned on website and review. I liked to much the room I extended with more three nights. This guy are very helpful. In the lobby they have refrigerators,Loundry, wifi & breakfast too. One more things hotel is very near to canal street. Very easy to reach here. I highly recommend this hotel. I had good time. I could have given more than 5*.

Erika D.

Yelp
First time in a Hostel and it was a great experience! Very convenient, great customer service, and affordable. We stayed here for Mardi Gras weekend and it was a prime location. Downfall was that the cable car was out of service but in exchange we had a lot of great parades go down this street. Thank you Quisby! I love NOLA!

Alisha N.

Yelp
Adding to the praise that is The Quisby. For such a low price it's a great deal! I was skeptical too at first but man, this place is safe and cool. My friend and I stayed here to save some coin because we were just coming in town for a concert one night. We shared a room with two other strangers (women). They were pretty cool and we got along. This place has a pretty cool bar, they have a list of cool local things you might want to do and they have events there each night. Such a cute spot that I will return to!

Mary Dearah B.

Yelp
Our original reservation was for a shared room, but since we were so tired upon arriving at the place we just opted to have our own private room. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The only down side is that the hostel does not have a private parking lot. We had a rent-a-car so we just parked it by Erato St. This hostel is located only few miles away fro. The French Quarter, National WWII Museum and other must see places.

Courtney S.

Yelp
Very clean hostel. Their happy hour is almost too good to be true. There is also a street car right across the street from here! It will take you where you need to go.

Emily G.

Yelp
I was referred to this hostel from a friend who stayed here last year during Tales of the Cocktail. Very trendy hipster hostel with a cocktail bar. Only stayed here one night and had a great experience. I was on the third floor in a co-ed bunk. The other bunkmates were respectful of my space and quite. Breakfast was included, pretty basic but had a few different options. They did not offer parking but there was plenty of street parking close by. This was a better option to a Air BnB and will stay here next time Im in NOLA

Lavette g.

Yelp
Whether you're traveling alone or with friends... this is the best place to stay! This hostel offers 2, 4 or 6 bunk rooms (mixed or female only). Thr beds are comfortable, wifi is complimentary and fast, there's a bar downstairs open 24/7 that includes continental breakfast from 8-10 and towels at check in. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and felt insanely comfortable! To get to the french quarter is a 15 min ride on the streetcars or 20 mins on foot. I will definitely be back!

Mikee P.

Yelp
Decided to go for a quick trip with my girls in New Orleans and the search for a cheap, clean and safe accommodation begun. The Quisby is exactly what we were looking for. We initially found it first in airbnb and can't believe how cheap it is and so we had to do some research (meaning we googled the place) and found out that the the place was legit! We even found cheaper deals on their website because we were all students! They offer some student discounts on both shared and private rooms. So we went for it and booked a private room! Getting there was easy. It took between 12-16 mins from the airport to the place. Popeyes and Wendys are walking distance from the Quisby if you ever find yourself hungry and needed a quick fix. It was also walking distance to World War II Museum! On our first night, we ate at Cochon which is 4-5 mins uber away! (Highly recommended) I felt safe for the whole duration of our stay there. There were homeless 2 blocks away from the hostel but that didn't bother me. Upon getting there, I was amazed ho hip the place is. There is a lounge area to chill while waiting for uber/lyft. Reading materials and board games are available too! There is a big board with all the activities you can do in New Orleans! Walk 4 more steps and you'll see a bar/front desk! We were kind lost when we got there because we didn't know where to check in hahahaha. All staff were accommodating and friendly! Bar area offers any drink you can think of! Just ask anything and 90% they can make it for you. They have a communal kitchen area at the far end of the bar with microwave, toaster, fridge, water dispenser, utensils, bowls and plates and cups. That's where they lay out the complimentary breakfast too. They serve bagels, donuts, biscuits, peanut butter, salami, cheese, coffee, orange juice, milk and fruits (banana and apple) for breakfast. Our room was on second floor. First impression when we got in, it's like we're in a dorm!! There were 2 bunk beds and 4 lockers. There was a sink outside the bathroom which is smart! Towels are provided upon check in. Each bed has a thick blanket and 1 pillow. You can ask more pillows at the front desk. The room was sparkly clean and the sheets smelled clean too. Everything actually in the room is clean! The private room was perfect for us. The Quisby is 8-10 mins uber/lyft away from the French Quarter which made this place a ver convenient one. We will definitely come back to this place if we ever find ourselves lost in New Orleans again!

Alyssa O.

Yelp
I love staying at the Quisby! This is the absolute BEST HOSTEL IN THE WORLD I love how clean and peaceful it is here and it's easy to relax I also love how nice the staff are..my FAVORITE staff member is Linda she's so sweet and warm and friendly and really does a good job keeping the hostel so pretty and clean. It's located on St Charles and you can walk right outside to the street car and go anywhere (a 24 hour pass is only $3) I definitely recommend the Quisby

Belinda S.

Yelp
Very clean, comfortable. The pics are accurate. Daily breakfast of breads and cold cuts and peanut butter and Nutella and coffee and OJ. I was in a 6 person room to save a buck at a conference I wasn't sure I was getting reimbursed for (ended up getting reimbursed, oh well). First time in a hostel but it was fine. Everyone was respectful. You can rent a lock. The lobby is nice to hang out in and sells ramen and chips and beer and probably other stuff. They're right in front of a streetcar stop. Staff is very friendly. The only issue I had was that the first night I was there, they had a live DJ in the lobby spinning tunes with some serious bass. It would have been sweet had I been there for the scene, but actually I was there because this is a place of lodging to sleep in so I was hoping to sleep and get up at 6:30 for the conference the next day. Earplugs helped, although bass trumps earplugs... ultimately it was fine but a little annoying. Perhaps call ahead for a schedule of live DJs if you're there for something you need to sleep well for.

Yelp
First time in NOLA made reservation for the Hamptons Inn received my email 3 days later informing me there not honoring my reservation. Frantically looking for a new hotel and took a chance on Quisby hostel. Highly recommended if you don't mind bare minimum amenities like concierge service toiletries in bath room and Tv . They do have internet. I'm not trying to be sarcastic if your traveling alone and don't mind the amenities like a 3-4 star hotel would have this place is just right. Front desk polite room clean bathroom clean residents patron not shady. Feels safe . They book dormitories where more than one sleep or you can book one room by yourself with bunk beds like I did. One Quick oddity the actual toilet bowl in the same space as shower head. There is a lobby with minimum sitting space to eat and drink as they frown upon eating in rooms . The room I was in was tiny just really enough to fit bunk beds so it was better to eat downstairs and enjoy the scenery. In conclusion I enjoyed my stay its centrally located the RTA trolley right across the street taking you to French Quarters in less than 10 mins. So I highly recommended if you want to go no frills on a tight budget in a clean safe environment. I would come here again.

Yelp
The weekend price was good, which drew me in. The streetcar to the French Quarter is right across the street. It was an ok location, but not terribly walkable. There's a great pizza place right down the street. No coffee nearby which kinda sucked. The first guy who greeted me when I checked in was nice and helpful, but everyone else was not exactly hospitable. They offer free breakfast and coffee, but the coffee was out by 10:30 on Saturday and they didn't make more. The breakfast was some pathetic looking biscuits and bagels, fruit and oj. I stayed in a female dorm with 3 other girls, on the top bunk. The room was fairly clean other than some mildew in the shower. The bunk bed was difficult to get in and out of, and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. I kept hearing loud noises ALL night, like someone moving furniture around. It took a minute to realize it was the underbed lockers of the people upstairs, they are really loud when they open and close. It sounded like someone dragging a heavy wood table across the wood floor. So last night I didn't sleep hardly at all and left earlier than checkout, so glad to be headed to a nicer hotel.

Yelp
Thank goodness for this lovely St. Charles Ave. establishment. Walking in, we were met with a gracious staff and shown to our 4 bed private room. The bathroom was spacious and clean, and our beds were very comfortable, despite the fact that they were bunked. The Quisby is almost like a hotel, but with a community-centric vibe. There's a nice bar and cafe area in the lobby, which makes for wonderful interactions with other visitors and The Quisby's young and informed staff. Mikayla Skinner, who was working behind the bar and who checked us in, gave us some excellent recommendations on restaurants and bars in the area, and helped make our experience memorable with her kindness and wit. The Quisby's location is ideal. You're out of the drunken hustle and bustle of the French Quarter, but still surrounded by New Orleans charm. A streetcar runs just outside, and you're walking distance (or a quick drive or cab ride) to some wonderful areas of the city. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. 10/10 would stay again!

Yelp
Yeah, I'm staying here anytime I'm back in New Orleans. The location? Perfection. Walking distance to everything, but far enough away from the insanity of Bourbon street so that you can sleep without hearing drunk frat boys screaming all night. The price? Super affordable. The staff? Really friendly, cute hipster kids (young adults) that were SO helpful. And stylish too. The cleanliness? I'm pretty sure I've never stayed at a cleaner hostel- Jesus could eat off the floor at The Quisby. Shout out to the smiling cleaning lady with the lip piercing- you do damn good work (sorry I didn't get your name). The building layout? They did a great job with the setup of the lobby, rooms, and everything else. I dig it. Exposed brick, nice wide bunk beds, and big showers. yes please. Bottom line: if you're going to NOLA, you should stay at The Quisby. If you don't...well that's a damn shame.

Yelp
This may be one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. I can confidently say that I've stayed at at least over a hundred of them; especially during my extensive wanderlust years. The Quisby is a mix of a comfortable European hostel with hotel amenities. All of the small details have been taken care of here. The beds are extremely comfortable, there are bedside lights, breakfast that will leave you satiated, a wonderful laundry area (that even takes credit cards), clean/aesthetically pleasing bathrooms, and a very welcoming staff. The breakfast even included AMAZINGLY GOOD COFFEE! I'm a coffee snob, so to me this was an extra plus. The location is perfect. A short, 11 second walk will lead you to the trolley car stop, which will drop you off at lovely Tulane University or smack dab in front of Bourbon street. There are convenience stores nearby, as well as bars and restaurants. The lobby area has been renovated to it's glory days but with modern touches. Here, one can get information from the staff, or better yet, crack jokes and have hilarious conversations about all types of randomness. I stayed here during their opening month. I enjoyed The Quisby and New Orleans so much that I even persuaded my dad to visit. It was his first hostel, and I told him that there's nothing quite like it: a hostel that feels clean and comfortable like a hotel but with travelling buddies. He was impressed, as was I. An easy 5 stars. *There were a few things that weren't set up when I was there, such as their liquor license and elevator. Hopefully by this writing (it's been a couple months) they're all fine and dandy. When asked what things I would recommend, the only thing I have come up with since then would be having privacy curtains for each bed.*

Yelp
My first time staying in a hostel here in America and I'm glad I chose the Quisby. I got myself a private room which came with a private bathroom. Very clean. Easy check in, and decent breakfast. It's located in a great central area in New Orleans. If you are looking to do New Orleans in an economical way I'd recommend The Quisby.

Yelp
This is my second time to stay at The Quisby. It's a great little hostel with small rooms and private bathrooms right in the heart of St. Charles in New Orleans. This is a wonderful place if you are looking for a less expensive, neighborhood type of New Orleans experience. There are great restaurants all around, it's right on the street car line, museums are blocks away, and the French Quarter is about a mile away. Beds are all bunk beds. Staff is friendly. The bar downstairs is often crowded with tunes playing at night.

Yelp
A great hostel meeting a lot of important values! Good bedrooms with bathroom in it, all of it clean. The staff is great! Welcoming and friendly people! Good location for walking or bus to wherever you would like to go! The thing pulling off my star is the kitchen, not really space if you would like to save money and make your own... Not space for that, and the breakfast is ok but not really more than bagel or some oats.

Yelp
I really just went to the bar. It has a great vibe and cool bartender/hostel front desk reception, Jupiter. Drink selection and prices are great.

Yelp
Hostel was chill with 24 hour drinks (when the bar tender wasn't sleeping in the chair) but pay through hotels.com and might be double charged or deal with BS that HI New Orleans is closer to the french quarter and you can actually cook there.

Yelp
No complaints about this place. My first Hostel experience. Rooms were clean and well air conditioned. Beds were comfortable. Staff was helpful. The location is great, not too far from the action, but not right there where it is so noisy one can't sleep. The street car runs right out front - too and from Bourbon, Canal, etc. The housekeeping staff was friendly. They have a laundry room and breakfast.
