The Ragged Robin hotel | Surrey | England | Smith Hotels

"Hidden down a quiet lane along the River Wey, The Ragged Robin is a stay as sweet as the flower it’s named for. At this pub with rooms, the latter delights with its dream-inducing hues, butter-soft beds and Surrey-framing sash windows. And downstairs, the former fills with Godalming’s locals and their pups, chatting over steaming Sunday roasts and perfectly pulled pints." - Mr & Mrs Smith

We have a Heartwood Inn (without accommodation) near us, that we eat at regularly, which had equally fantastic staff & food, so decided to book a stay at one of their inns with accommodation. We chose the Ragged Robin as it was a convenient overnight stop on our way home from visiting friends in Devon. We booked a dinner, bed & breakfast package at the Ragged Robin for our 11th wedding anniversary, on the 30th of December. We were very lucky to be upgraded to a luxe room and given a glass of Prosecco each before dinner too! We had an absolutely lovely stay: the room was amazing, with a huge bath and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in. All of the staff were wonderful & very welcoming and the food at both dinner & breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend them and look forward to checking out other establishments in this great chain of inns.

I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at the restaurant with my family. We started with Jerusalem artichoke soup, which was absolutely delicious, like heaven! The main dishes were spectacular, the duck was perfectly cooked, the chicken was tender and flavourful, and the trout was delicious. All the desserts were amazing, and the coffee was top notch. The entire team, Harrison, Barry, Toby, Marlena, Kian, and Jordan, were so friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. My family and I felt so relaxed and truly enjoyed every moment. Thank you so much to everyone, and we can’t wait to return!

I know the area very well and this was the visit to this hotel and I will definitely be returning. The refurbishment has been carried out to the highest of standards throughout the hotel. Our room was arty, rather quirky and the bed and bedding were top notch and very comfortable. A choice of pillows, a small fridge, coffee and tea facilities and the paintings (ok, probably prints, but no matter) hanging from chains from the dado rail, made it feel like a room in a small stately home! Designer accessories and tasty petit-fours added to the sense of luxury along with a DAB radio. The location is slightly outside Godalming or Compton so we dined at the Inn and were so glad we did. Fantastic food and choice of wine and all at reasonable prices. To add to all this, the staff were extremely helpful. 10/10

We stayed for a Thursday night in January bed and breakfast. Our room was perfection. Great bed and bedding, perfect temperature, room included everything we could possibly need. I work in hospitality so I’m fussy, it’s actually difficult to go anywhere overnight but this place ticked every box. Truth be told the breakfast let the place down, an impressive menu but bad filter coffee (ask for americano instead), service a bit too relaxed and a cold cooked breakfast which included brown avocado muck. I’d still give it 5 stars cos overall the accommodation is fresh, new and exceptional.

Had a lovely weekend family lunch here. The atmosphere and decor are gorgeous and the staff were charming! The kids particularly enjoyed the service provided by Griff. Super attentive and amusing (which was greatly appreciated by the adults too). Also really helped when the pub was busy and the food took a little longer to be served than perhaps ideal. Prices were typical and the food was very good. We managed to get a table without booking, but I suspect it would normally be good to make a reservation. Look forward to coming again. Definitely a pub for all seasons too 👌

What a wonderful place this is. Highly decorated, very clean and quiet rooms, had great 3 nights of sleep. The food is very high quality. I had both my breakfast and evening meals here. The restaurant and bar are very well managed by the duty manager Kayley who leads a very good team of chefs, waiters and bar staff. Great parking that is lit at night and plenty of disabled spaces. I am returning for another stay in January and March next year.

Great Food, Great Staff, Great ambience and it really ticks all the box’s. ||Great venue, thoughtfully designed and the highlight here are the staff who really stood out for their service levels, humour … especially Thomas and his colleague with dark hair at the bar on Friday night and Jordan also went above and beyond. |The restaurant staff, breakfast lady and check-out man were all really attentive, perfectly interactive and welcoming - we stay away regularly and haven’t met staff who compare to the Ragged Robin ever before, having also stayed at The Coat & Bear - we will continue to try the rest of the group of pubs, inns and hotels.||My only feedback is that the marketing regarding the dinner, bed and breakfast treats deal is unclear regarding the offering giving a £25 spend pp towards dinner, this was also not mentioned in the T&C’s section and the reservations manager just offered for me to cancel than appreciate the unclear nature of the marketing - so glad I didn’t cancel as we had a great stay and Molly on the reservations line was super helpful.

I recently used The Ragged Robin for a wake after a funeral ceremony at the Guildford Crematorium. The staff and venue were excellent on all counts. A private area was made available to us, the catering was tailored to various dietary requirements and attractively displayed, the staff made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. Plenty of parking too.
