I grabbed lunch at the bar before work. The bartender was fast, friendly and attentive. I ordered a plain chicken and cheese quesadilla and a plain cheeseburger with house made chips on the side. Everything was fantastic! The quesadilla really hit the spot and the crema on the side was excellent! I’ll definitely eat here again if I stay at the Crowne Plaza when I’m back in town.

I ordered the buffalo wings yesterday and it was definitely a 10/10. Customer service for both days 10/10- very friendly. The beef short rib was different than what I had expected. They were tender and slightly chewy which is a plus but I was expecting it to be bone in. There wasn’t much flavor 6/10 The cheesy corn reminded me of mash potatoes and corn. 5/10 the baked beans was great 8/10.

Great service, fun crowd, good food. What more can you ask for? Tried the turkey club and spinach dip tonight, recommend both. Plus, it's within range of multiple pokestops so what could be better??

Overall was a good meal with a good atmosphere with plenty of TVs to watch any game that may be on.

Ishmael was very inattentive and paid more attention to his side work than guests. Forgot my desert order and tried to say it was the lady next to me who ordered it. We both did. At two separate times and he would have realised that if he actually paid attention to who he was serving. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone looking for good service.

Ordered a $15 steak tip salad with no wontons and was brought a sad bowl of lettuce with a sprinkle of dressing and no other toppings. Incredibly disappointed and will not be returning.

Google
Service was awesome, drinks were some of the best I’ve had while in Kansas (especially the Mint Julep) and bartender, she went above and beyond! Would definitely visit again and highly recommend others to visit!

Yelp
We needed a convenient, no-fuss dinner before a show at The Music Hall tonight and found The Rail inside the Marriott to be a surprise hit. I had the BBQ bacon burger--hold the sauce--and it was downright delicious. But the fries stole the show... crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, piping hot, golden perfection. L had the mushroom Swiss burger. He said it leaned a little undercooked but still gave it a solid thumbs-up. Super friendly service, chill atmosphere. For a hotel lobby bar/restaurant, this place totally understood the assignment. And the cherry on top? Rockstar parking--basically mythical these days with Barney Allis Plaza all coned off. Just a short walk to the venue. Bookmark this one. Seriously.

Yelp
Came here after a long flight. Got the wings asked for extra crispy. They weren't extra crispy lol. The service was good. She was the only person working. The seating area was nice and clean.

Yelp
It was honestly the worst experience I have had in any restaurant. I went in with my friend two weeks ago and tipped 25%. They decided it was alright to charge my card 40%. I understand mistakes happen, but when I mentioned it to them there was no remorse whatsoever. I was packing my bags while my friend went to see them and she gave them my number and name. It's been two weeks and no calls from them. I even called multiple times requesting a copy of my receipt so i could dispute it with the bank myself. NOTHING. they keep cutting the phone off or just lying that they'll reach out. Terrible terrible service.

Yelp
Great experience! I ordered to go at the bar. Id order the Turkey sand again. But Id pay for extra meat because this was definitely not much meat and alllll bread. Still good. Fries tasty. The spinach artichoke dip was very chunky but good. Naan bread was delicious!

Yelp
I stayed here at the hotel for a fencing tournament and two days in we got hit by a snow storm leaving us stuck with no where to go. The bar and kitchen was the only restaurant open in Kansas City, so we had no choice but to eat here. I must say I have never in my life seen such hard working people. There was a hour and a half wait for tables and food and the staff kept a positive, joyful attitude all night no matter how rude other customers were. I sat at the bar because I was alone and had Aidan as my bartender. She was the best bartender I have ever experienced! If you go here I would recommend asking for her! Our food was delicious no matter how long we waited. She told me they had help from people who weren't even supposed to be there that late. They ran out of food it was so busy! It was just a wonderful experience. Props to the rail!

Yelp
There's not much choice within walking distance downtown Kansas City COVID has not been good for business.... I ordered the BBQ bacon cheeseburger it wasn't bad maybe a little charred it sure wasn't cooked medium but more the well done.

Yelp
The Rail Bar & Bites is the hotel bar at the downtown Crown Plaza hotel. This is not a destination bar but rather a nice respite for hotel guests or individuals downtown attending an all day dance competition (that would be me!). I stopped in for a comfortable chair, drink and upon the suggestion of the bartender, made from scratch steak soup. The soup is actually very good. The soup was full of tender pieces of steak, corn, potatoes, celery and tomatoes in a thick beef stock. Upon seeing my soup, two fellow patrons ordered bowls as well. Three stars for the drink prices. $10 for the Crown & Coke was on the high side for a basic hotel bar. $12 for the soup.

Yelp
What a great experience, great recommendations, and great food. Roxann was our waitress and she was absolutely awesome! Friendly, nice, attentive, full of energy and had great insights about the menu. She recommended the Creamed Potato & Bacon soup first. OMG, it was awesome! Loaded with flavor and bacon. What more could you ask for? Creamy, smooth and very delicious. I just got the cup, and I'm glad I did. If I had ordered the bowl, I would have finished it off and licked it clean, thus having no room for dinner. Great suggestion! The Spinach and Artichoke was our appetizer. Another suggestion and another win! Perfect! For my dinner, I had the White Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese and, yes, another win win! It, like everything else was yum...yummy! My dinner partner had the Quinoa & Kale salad with salmon and he said it was great....well, when he mumbled something between bites, that is. All in all, we had a great dining experience and a great meal, plus some leftovers to go for tomorrow. Again, Roxann was outstanding and her suggestions were spot on! Thank you. Of course, I will be back. I heard that the menu is changing once again, but I hope they keep these items on it as they rock! I'll be back for bacon and Mac & Cheese!

Yelp
Food was t good but service staff was awesome. It was very popular over the weekend and the service staff all had great attitudes and quick service every day I visited. I did not find a single menu item that was good (tried nachos, onion rings, burger, wings, fries and pretzels) during my stay. Who ever is in the kitchen LOVES THE GREEN GARNISH but needs to slow down on it a bit . Again great staff and drinks weird food.

Yelp
A truly enjoyable experience from start to finish. Once seated the server was quick to get our drink orders and recommended a couple food options. Our food was prepared quickly and came out hot and delicious. Twice during our meal the chef came out to see how everything was. A good place to get food or they have a full bar on the other side of the lobby. Also great customer service.

Yelp
Small restaurant within a larger bar. Most people on the Saturday night were couples and bachelor/ette parties drinking or pre-drinking. Few people ordered food. The menu is concise and complete. Only two desert selections. I ordered a filet which was very good and cooked exactly as requested. They have retained a good chef!

Yelp
No bueno. If you're in town, explore...don't eat at the hotel. Food was meh Coffee was meh Service was good Bugs were crawling on the floor....

Yelp
Couldn't decide on what to order for room service at the hotel. A lot of fancy sounding entrees, but mostly with ingredients I didn't like. So decided to try the quinoa salad with salmon. Great choice; good food. Ordered with creme brûlée. Only comment is that after a moderate tip; the meal cost $45!

Yelp
Went here to experience and have Sunday Dinner. We ordered the Crab Cakes for an appetizer hot dog and chicken tenders for the kids. My hubby had the scallops and I had the fried chicken. First, the place is very nice well decorated but the place was empty. Even though we ordered an appetizer and dinner everything came out together. It took quite a while like we surprised them with our visit. A sign stated they had a breakfast buffet and a lunch buffet with chicken Alfredo, salad, bread sticks, and chicken anywho I guess we got there before dinner. The fried chicken was okay it was served with mashed potatoes and a corn salad with an annoying level of spicy. The same corn salad was served on the crab cake appetizer. The cakes were good. The scallops were good as well. My rating is a 3 for the spicy gummy corn salad being passed out and the two pieces of chicken I got were dark meat usually you mix or all white. In addition, the appetizer timing and the depth of the menu. Also I expected more from a Restraunt inside the Crowne Plaza hotel.

Yelp
Try the fried green tomatoes. To die for! And the scallops are superb. I've really not had anything I didn't like. I found the service to always be super-friendly and helpful. The only real glitch I had was when I took my family there for Memorial Day. I'd called ahead and they said they were open. Got there and, because of very low traffic, they'd closed. However, they serve the same food in the bar area, so they shoved three tables together and treated us like royalty. It was great fun and they took a bad situation and made it great.

Yelp
They took so long over an hour but the manager was so nice. Our waitress was not in a good mood and was rude to my parents. She luckily pulled it together but she seemed mad. My mom got a salad but they didn't even put dressing on it. What in the world. We got free stuff but we are not coming back.

Yelp
While the food was not bad tasting, the entire experience was ruined by the service. Our small group of 3 had to wait a significant amount of time, with no one in front of us before we were even recognized to be seated. It was not busy with a majority of the seating open. Once seated, we waited again for at least 10 minutes for any service, including even asking for drinks or menus. When asking for water, it wasn't brought to us. After waiting again for 10 minutes, we had to get up and get the water ourselves from a pitcher on the other side of the room. The food took a long time to arrive. Unfortunately I would not recommend this particular spot for dining.

Yelp
Staying in the hotel and I thought I would try it despite the reviews. I must say I agree. I ordered the crab cakes along with the fish and chips. They came out at the same time. The crab cakes were...interesting. Flavor was not that great at all. Fish and chips wasn't bad, but honestly the fries were best. Not necessarily what I should be saying. Try at your own risk.

Yelp
Great food and even better service from Mona. Breakast buffet has an awesome selection.
