Very nice museum, for both railway passionate and casual visitors. Very good for kids and families as well, however not very accessible for wheelchairs and strollers (for babies, consider a carrier). We loved everything about it, but would have appreciated some English descriptions, that were unfortunately missing. Will go back!

My new favourite place. It's unfair to compare railway museums but this is the best one I have found so far. Gives the complete history of the railways in the Netherlands. Examples of old and new rolling stock. RECOMMEND ARRIVING BY RAIL - take a train to Utrecht Maliebaan station to avoid the expensive car parks (both on site and on street).

🚂 The Railway Museum in the Netherlands turned out to be much more impressive than I expected. Walking among the historic trains and steam locomotives felt like traveling back in time. Thanks to the interactive areas, you’re not just looking, you’re actually experiencing. For photography lovers, there are countless amazing shots to capture! It’s also perfect for families; children especially enjoy the train simulators and the little train ride. Since it’s close to Utrecht city center, getting there is very easy. In short, it’s both fun and educational. I definitely recommend it

A perfect place to spend half day. Many types of train, old and new, some of them you can walk inside. There is a place to eat some snacks, coffee etc. plus a theater and few more experiences. A great place for every age.100% recommended.

Surprising and pleasant experience. Really worth going there. A lot to see and to experience. All the displayed hardware is impressive and gives a unique perspective on the technological advancement in time. A great visual walk through history.

If visiting on a Museum card, entry is free. Irrespective of the slot booked, you can enter the museum. Must pay 7.50€ for the car parking, separately. The museum itself is so beautiful with the old and new trains placed inside. You can book in advance for the birthdays and events inside one of these trains. 😊 Kids and adults would love the museum if interested in trains. Find more information on the trains and TCs with the digital screens. Mini figurines placed through out to show the history of the trains. Trains placed outdoors and can visit an office of the ticket collector. There is a small theater play inside, which we missed 3 times. A cafeteria is available where multiple options available including, Burger & Fries which were amazing. A bit expensive, but super tasty. Toilets were fun to visit as they were all themed right from the entrance toilet to the toilets inside the museum. Recommend at least 4 - 5 to cover all the spots inside the museum.

I heard a lot about this museum and its expensive to enter as well. Even you need to reserve tickets early on, but it was not that impressive to me. There are s few old trains to display including ones from regular NS train, but a clear lebelling is missing. I would have expected to arrange the trains from early to modern times with explanation on what has changed and why. Kids were climbing to see some random things. A clear demo on how to drive a train and how that changed over years would have been awesome. There are a fre self to do workshops upstairs but proper explanation is missing and you need to dig in quite a bit to understand and get the fun. The "ontdekking experience" was not impressive to me at all. However they have a virtual train ride simulator that is interesting for kids.

My first time here. I rarely go to museums anymore & i’m not rly the biggest train enthusiast but this was so fun and interesting! Got to learn a lot about trains and their history (in the Netherlands). Also there’s definitely a lot of kids around here so it can get a little bit noisy and you’ll need to watch out for kids running around but other than that it’s really great here. I wouldn’t rly say that it’s a museum just for kids but also for adults.
