The food was very disappointing and too expensive for the quality. The pastry of the steak and ale pie was stale and hard, some of the meat inside was hard and black as there wasn't enough gravy to keep it moist. The mash was really bad. The sausages seemed like they had been cooked a few days ago and reheated. None of it seemed cooked fresh that day, not even the peas. For a country pub on a Sunday, it was so disappointing. This is the day everything should be at it's best! Particularly as the meals are between £15 - £20. Really wish we'd have saved our money and made it all at home for 1/3rd of the cost. Also wish I'd looked at the other reviews which say don't eat here! It's such a shame as the pub itself is gorgeous, but the food massively lets it down.

Close to the station so very handy post hike! Friendly service, lots of seating inside and out - fast service once ordered and tasty food. Proper portions, left feeling well fed!

Nice interior, nice location, quick service. However quite expensive for food which isn't great. They'd run out of steak and ale pie so I got chicken and mushroom instead, disappointingly there were only 4 or 5 pieces of meat in the whole pie, I can do much better pies myself.

I took my wife to The Rambler for a night to get her away from the stress of work and we couldn't of chosen a better location. Helen and Chris the landlords made us feel welcome from the moment we walked and were backed up by Fyn and Logan behind the bar. The food menu had a good choice and we ended up with the locally sourced steak pie, very nice with plenty of gravy. The rooms are very comfortable and a good size. We drove and the setting is beautiful however next time we'll go by train as there is a station very close by that has direct links from Manchester and Sheffield. All in all a brilliant place to get away from things with a great atmosphere.

A lovely hotel/pub. You couldn’t pick a more perfect place to stay. You have astounding views of the the rolling hills as soon as you step outside and you can literally stroll from the hotel to a variety of the many well known hikes, as well as visit the quaint villages along the Hope railway line from Edale station which is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Cosy and welcoming, hearty pub food, a tasty breakfast, comfy beds, genuinely warm and friendly staff, with the added bonus of a crackling fire in the evenings. Highly recommended and we will be back

Good pub with classic Peak District atmosphere. Refrain yourself from eating here though. Very disappointing, run of the mill food: Frozen chips, boiled green beans sold as 'seasonal veg', cheap frozen meat, Iceland pound-a-kilo sausages... I have eaten better in jail, but that's another story!

We've dined at this pub four times over the last two weeks, and each visit has been fantastic! The food is consistently delicious, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The service is excellent, making every meal an enjoyable experience. We can't recommend this place enough, and we absolutely love your blood orange cider—it's a must-try! Looking forward to many more meals here!

Conveniently near the station in my favourite village ever, this is a very popular pub all year round. Plenty of tables inside and out, the food is lovely and there's a good selection of ales and lagers. Dogs everywhere!!

Yelp
You know you are in for a warm welcome when the pub has a sign outside saying 'families, dogs and muddy boots welcome'. A good selection of beers on offer, including the Ginger Marble Ale, which is what I chose to accompany my roast dinner. The meat was a bit fatty, but the portion size was decent enough and arrived on our table just as our feet were warming up from our walk in the Peak District. There was a full menu of what I like to call 'proper food' aswell as snacks and sandwiches and what quite a few vegetarian dishes too. Small carpark out front, but with the Inn being situated next door to the Hope Railway station, there is ample parking close by.

Yelp
The place to be in that part of the peak district. The village of Edale amounts to a few houses, lots of campings, and hoards of sheep. However, that pub stands out as a great mansion, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Overall, the drinks are more expensive than you would expect for such an isolated area. Blame it on the tourists, or on the tricky logistics ! The food is good. Our orders were also messed up, as I received a lamb burger with coleslaw, which I didn't want, and it came before the soup we took for starters... The burger lacked some taste, though... The potato mash was very rich and velvety, which suited the beef and ale pie perfectly. The carrot and coriander soup was also a great start to our dinner... The best moment ? Getting the last rays of sunlight in the huge garden, while reading books on one of their round tables.
