South Woodstock home turned Neapolitan pizza place - great salads, friendly staff and classic pizza choices. Tiramisu was on the menu which is a rare treat around here.

AMAZING PIZZA ! 🍕 We loved this place, it’s atmosphere and the service. The food was excellent and the pizzas were beyond amazing. The only thins I want to mention is the the fact that it is on the pricey side and they charge 20% tip automatically. We didn’t know about that until the check arrived, and even then the waitress didn’t mention it (we saw it on the receipt) and could have accidentally paid the top twice! So heads up🤞

We sat at the bar as apparently a reservation is much needed, even on a Thursday night. Our experience was good, we enjoyed our dinner and drinks. My boyfriend and I shared a brick oven pizza.I enjoyed an old fashioned and my boyfriend enjoyed a beer on tap. Service was good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We will be back!

After being on the road for 8 hours, we were famished and boy did this hit the spot. Such a beautiful space and lovely staff. We ordered the soup, Margherita pizza and the vegan mushroom pizza. The food came out at lightening speed and was delicious. The mushroom pizza was a triumph! Complex, savory with a great umami flavor. The Margherita was no slouch either! We will return and hopefully stay at the inn!

This is a beautiful and clean place restaurant in the area. They had some music entertainers playing violin and banjo playing while we were there and it gave the place a real country feel. The staff was excellent and we got good service there. We ordered the garden salad, tomato soup and pepperoni pizzas.

This place is truly a hidden gem. Staff were friendly and following on marking my experience is perfect. I had the Greek Salad and the Gardener Pizza. The wooden pizza tasted delicious and perfect. The salad was decent too. The outside seating at the porch was comfy even on a cold rainy day. Very historic place dated to 1828! Would definitely recommend this place. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

Google
great cocktails! the bartender was very pro and friendly, the coktail he recommended was incredibly balanced. i had high hopes, but the pizza was a bit disappointing (dough little under proofed & too bready for my taste). it was also a bit expensive

Google
One of our favorites in the Woodstock area. Their white pizzas are especially delicious. We have done dine in and take out and both are delicious.

Yelp
Incredibly quaint historic old roadside inn and tavern. Loads of character. Lively gathering place for groups. Large bar. Interesting cocktails and delicious pizzas and salads. Service was excellent.

Yelp
First of all the food is amazing the pizza and chicken were so good. Second everything was fast even though it was packed. Lastly it was cool to be in there and everyone was having a good time.

Yelp
The aesthetic is the perfect cozy Vermont kitchen. The pizza menu is very creative and diverse. It's cooked in an a brick oven so expect a crispy crust. The pizza size is small, about 12 inches. Staff was helpful, quick, and friendly. Salads are much bigger and more filling that a couple years ago. Cocktails are just ok; might recommend sticking with wine. Especially in the winter, I will always keep Kedron Valley Inn on my list.

Yelp
Rustic elegance meets culinary experience. Greeted by aroma of freshly baked dough and friendly service. This is a must stop if passing through, living in the area, or staying in the beautiful town for a night or two. Would recommend a reservation, this is a hot spot. Private dining rooms available upstairs. Nice bar room off the side.

Yelp
Amazing food and relaxed atmosphere with a rustic charm and elegance run by a warm, friendly staff of close family members who make every detail of your experience top notch. Delicious made-to-order hand-crafted wood-fired pizza with wholesome ingredients from Italy. If you're visiting the area, be sure to make a reservation ahead for this popular local restaurant.

Yelp
Nice restaurant in the in with good service. We tried the fennel salad which was good and a pretty decent portion size. Got two pizzas which were both pretty tasty. The chocolate torte for dessert was also very rich and we got a scoop of vanilla on the aide with it. Really enjoyed this restaurant!

Yelp
We met our friends here for dinner a couple nights ago. This location is PEAK Vermont: absolutely idyllic, next to a pond, everything in bloom, a beautiful old building. Just gorgeous. Inside, the simplicity of the furniture and chairs is charming, the tables are far apart, and the acoustics are just right. Honestly, it was so nice to be in there. We started with their spritz special cocktail and a local beer and the fennel salad (minus the orange supremes). The salad was a good size and we loved the arugula and cheese and fennel, but we did think it needed a bit more acid and salt. Still, a solid start. The pizza is bellisimo! We had the margherita and the fungi and both were astoundingly delicious. The dough was perfectly chewy with a bit of that oven char and you could taste how fresh all the ingredients were on it. We decided to skip dessert here to get some ice cream in town, but the menu looked good. Our server was the sweetest young woman who did a great job with the table, and their automatic 20% gratuity didn't bother us as much as it does for other places (a shame, though, because we usually tip higher but never do when the restaurant forces our hands, but anyway). More like 4.5 stars, but we're rounding up because this really was a special kind of place and we'd be thrilled to come back again.

Yelp
Pizza oven imported from Italy! After driving around Vermont and New Hampshire all day hiking, learning about the area and about the person who owns this restaurant we decided to eat here ! The pizza was phenomenal. We got four of them; double sausage, Kings on a Horseback, Quattro Formaggi, and the The Old Orchard. All four of them were delicious. A bunch of local IPAs on draft and in cans, I would highly recommend anything from The Alchemist (they want you to drink them from a can, so they do not have them on tap, do not let this discourage you, they are very tasty) All in all, this was a wonderful experience. Do not miss this place when you're in Woodstock!

Yelp
Have been here multiple times throughout the years. Generally have had a pleasant experience. However, tonight was a bit of a disappointment. It started with the extremely slow service. A couple of forgotten things. Waited a while for water at the beginning. Worst thing was the auto 20 percent gratuity. Would not have been as mad if I had been told ahead of time. A note on the menu! The service tonight was not 20 percent service. Food was tasty but the experience was lacking. Just wanted to write the review to hopefully help others know in advance what I did not.

Marc B.

Yelp
Server was great, food was great as well. Would definitely go back if in the area. My only negative was a charge for large ice cubes, they were actually too large for the glass and weird to charge. Otherwise all around great.

Alexandra A.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! We've been coming here for a few years and never skip an opportunity to come every time we're in Woodstock! They have awesome craft cocktails, pizzas, and salad. Their service is phenomenal, and the family that owns it is an absolute delight!

Yelp
Spectacular evening, as always. Excellent meal, wonderful menu, excellent service. A special thank you to the wonderful hostess, Anne. Would highly recommend the Ransom Tavern to anyone looking for a good local meal.

Cathy H.

Yelp
Excellent pizza and food, excellent service and fabulous people! Love coming back!! Best restaurant - charming too!

Nicole Z.

Yelp
Live music was nice !! The pizza was awesome I got the kids pizza and fresh mozzarella pie I loved the kids pizza was amazing !!!Focaccia bread wasn't too good , burrata was okay. Service was great!

Nod N.

Yelp
My wife an I ate dinner there this past Thursday. The food was fine and the service friendly. The fact that they tacked a 20% tip automatically on the tab without the waitress or menu disclosing this practice is dishonest. This left a bad taste in our mouths. If this is the practice of the Tavern, disclose it ptominently.

Ally O.

Yelp
Delicious cocktails, amazing pizza, and friendly service. Have had several wonderful meals here.

Soundarya K.

Yelp
A good selection of items from salads, cheese boards to pizzas! We loved everything that we ordered: fennel salad, prosciutto Parma and the pizza with arugula and prosciutto. The tiramisu was excellent too!

Carol R.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere. Try one of the seasonal cocktails, and save room for the Millefoglie for dessert.

Yelp
Concierge made reservation for a Friday night after driving 6 hrs. Was very good but limited offerings as mostly all options besides apps are pizzas. Very good pizza (the Ransom has maple syrup on it so how bad can it be?) and apps are good but wished they had a pasta, fish or meat option besides just pizza. If you want a relaxed, attractive and casual environment and meal, give it a try!

Marie V.

Yelp
Good food and good music made it a memorable night! Lovely experience and Excellent pizza!

Bill C.

Yelp
Would have loved to review the food. Never got to eat. Arrived with a reservation for 15 people and they had no record of the reservation. Made it almost 2 months prior. Not sure how the mix up happened but the woman working reception was actually mean about it. Nobody would show up at any restaurant with a party of 15 without thinking that they had a reservation. Blamed our party and was nasty to the point where we just left. Would've been fine if they couldn't accommodate us if the situation was handled properly. Hospitality 101. BE NICE!!

Jonathan B.

Yelp
Had arguably the most beautiful and delicious meal at Ransom Tavern while my partner and I were visiting Vermont on vacation. Ransom was recommended to us by a few guests that we met at our hotel, and we're so glad they gave us the recommendation! The views and setting of the Tavern are absolutely stunning and it felt like we were transported back in time as a local bluegrass band was performing live music in the tavern. The pizzas were divine and had a crust I will dream about for the rest of my days. Our waiter, Morgan, was incredibly friendly and quick to answer our many questions about the eclectic menu! Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time as seating is limited!

Theresa M.

Yelp
First night into Woodstock, we randomly stopped in to the Random Tavern. Little did we know it would be the best stop we had the entire trip! The food, drinks and service were fantastic. Atmosphere was charming! Wish the rest of Woodstock would follow suit!

Alexa J.

Yelp
This is the best pizza I've ever had in the U.S! Hands down. As in, I'm still sitting at the table and felt compelled to write a review immediately! If you're staying in the area and comparing different pizza places, stop looking and come here. They recently renovated this Inn and it's super cozy with modern farmhouse style. The pizza is brick oven style and is delicious. They have a number of different white, red, and specialty pizzas and the crust is out of this world good. We also ordered the Panna Cotta trio (rosemary, lavender, lemon) which was amazing. The only tip I have is to wear leggings/stretchy pants because you will eat everything! We will be back the next time we visit Vermont.

Yelp
Given restrictions on dining and concerns about eating indoors, I feel very fortunate to live near Ransom Tavern. First, the food is exceptional. I'll confess we start with a salad and pretty much stick to the delicious Neapolitan-style pizza, prepared in a serious pizza oven, emerging with appropriately blistered crust. Many of the standard toppings plus some really outstanding innovations (my current favorite: the French onion pizza with Vermont cheddar, a local soft cheese [Lille from Vermont Farmstead Cheese] and roasted onions). You'll also find some appetizers (including tasty meatballs and burrata), pastas, salads, and desserts. There's also a decent array of wines by the glass and bottle, including many reasonably priced Italian choices; beers (it's Vermont, after all) and ciders; and a really nice selection of cocktails. I'd recommend the amaro toddy -- though there are other temptations, too. Best of all, Ransom offers private rooms for families or pods. They're very cautious about safety: the rooms are well-ventilated and cleaned and the servers are careful about entering your dining room. The minimal interaction with the staff is too bad, since they're terrific, but times being what they are, it's necessary. In short: hard to go wrong here.

Yelp
What a gem south of Woodstock, VT! Historic *and* chic. Lovely dinner with friends on a busy Saturday night. Everything was delicous - that pizza crust is extraordinary! Twenty miles from my home but worth it! I will be back.

Brittany T.

Yelp
Amazing pizza, focaccia and cocktails in a gorgeous space. They even have high chairs for the little ones. Service was a tad slow but they were attentive.

Laney S.

Yelp
Absolutely a ten. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. The air conditioning works perfectly. The food at the restaurant is outstanding. Margarita pizza was just amazing, and the salads are delicious too. I highly recommend this location for your accommodations and for your dining needs.

Carley B.

Yelp
Had a fabulous (and safe) experience in a private dining room. Everything was delicious and fresh, the staff was attentive but didn't come in too frequently to check on us. It felt very European, having a relaxing two-hour dining experience (and notably good cocktails). Will definitely be going back.

Kimberly R.

Yelp
Love this beautiful setting. Great food, a nice bar scene, and fantastic service. Call well in advance for reservations, they book up fast.

Gary G.

Yelp
We stayed 2 night's. The pizza, cheese flight and salad in the restaurant was excellent. Recommend earlier dinner time at 5pm, nice views in daylight and the restaurant was not crowded. We made reservations.

Phoebe B.

Yelp
Stayed New Years Eve weekend at the Kedrob Valley Inn so decided to dine her NYE night and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was super friendly. The pizza was amazing, probably some of the best brick oven pizza I've ever had. I also saw on the menu they offered vegan pizza which I thought was amazing as most places do not. Definitely a must when visiting Woodstock.

Brian F.

Yelp
Yummy yum yum. Good service, good drinks, nice ambiance, and the best pizza! Plan on going again.

Mark B.

Yelp
This restaurant was a wonderful surprise. . We hit the jackpot and got reservations at the last minute. The weather was cold and we were starving.. Walking inside, the restaurant was lovely. It had a casual vibe and smelled great. I ordered the butternut bisque soup and my husband had the ricotta meatballs. We shared the cheese tray. The soup was probably the best butternut bisque I've ever had. . I even asked the chef for the recipe. Everything was delicious. There was live music playing and the evening was really made special by the friendliness of the staff and yummy food. If I am ever back this way again, I will definitely return.. The memory of the soup will forever stay in my memory

Kevin R.

Yelp
What an amazing location with amazing food and welcoming people. Everything about our evening there was just perfect and everyone at the Ransom Tavern and the Kedron valley in is on target with their vision and their execution there of The gluten-free pizza is impossibly wonderful.

Jeanine L.

Yelp
The Inn is very nice. Drinks are good a little expensive. Pizza is very good but a little expensive for the size you get. Not a cheap place if you want a night out. Haven't been there in 2 years maybe the prices have come down.

Benjamin L.

Yelp
Who would expect such delicious pizza in such a beautiful setting?! This beautifully renovated restaurant is well worth the drive from Boston. The kids look forward to making their own pizzas every time!

Margaret M.

Yelp
Idyllic perfect New England setting. More than I expected in service and food. The location although at first seem remote because we got there after sunset and the roads are pitch black, but after reaching the location, all amenities with the fire place room and the staff made it a welcome home feeling. I can not wait to go back. Woodstock is full of history. What an incredible fine for me in Vermont which for the locals is nothing out of ordinary.

John F.

Yelp
Stayed the weekend in Room 30 which was a great layout with kitchenette. Although we had reservations elsewhere for dinner, stopped into tavern for wine & cocktails while town was doing their Halloween. Cocktails were delicious. It was great watching kids and parents all dressed up while visiting Inn and neighboring homes. While in tavern, we met the owners and they were so friendly, gracious and really enjoyed the excitement that evening. We can't wait to get back and visit again.

Audrey S.

Yelp
Had another wonderful dinner here last night. The food is absolutely delicious. Great apps and wonderful pizzas. The atmosphere is great. Warm, friendly, beautiful setting and inside decor. Excellent service. When there has been live music, it's been perfect, talented musician and right mix of songs and volume for a nice background - not at all overpowering. We are lucky enough to live in the area so this is becoming our new favorite place to go!

Jordan W.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner here with the whole family - my one year old loved the pizza too! Best pizza I've had in a long time - definitely on the pricey side, but worth it in my opinion. Don't miss the cheese plate to start - it's a great sampler of local fare.

Liz B.

Yelp
Definitely the best pizza I have had in the Woodstock/Quechee area. It's pretty expensive so mentally prepare yourself and you'll be fine - we paid $15-18 for a four slice, 10" pizzas that feed one hungry person, two not so hungry with an appetizer. The beer and cocktails seemed reasonably priced for the area. It's a very pretty room with a nice atmosphere and our server was very friendly. Would definitely return and looking into staying at the inn sometime.

Kamron I.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our stay at the Kendron Valley Inn! Exceeded our family's expectations. We stayed in the Lodge Room 31 and it's very spacious, two stories, gas fireplace upstairs, large jacuzzi tub, trundle twin bed downstairs and pet friendly!! Close to Jenne Farm for photographing the traditional Vermont scenery and 5 miles from downtown Woodstock! Will definitely book here for the fall. The chefs breakfast was also fantastic!

B S.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Yet again, this place understands the trifecta of ambience, service and quality food with a respectful layer of covid considerations on top. It delivers consistently delicious food in a gorgeous setting with friendly and attentive service every single time. So hard to achieve, especially now, and kudos to a job well done. Wonderful experience start to finish.

Michaella B.

Yelp
We are taking Covid precautions seriously and haven't gone out much but we've been lucky to enjoy a few meals at Kedron Valley and it's been a real treat. The delicious cocktails and pizza never disappoint but we especially appreciate the safety measures the staff takes during these times. Thanks to the private room accommodations we can eat the pizza while it's still hot and enjoy a little evening out. Thank you Kedron Valley!

Lynn L.

Yelp
Nice place and great atmosphere. Disappointed with the pizza - decent crust and white sauce but for $18 there were NO mushrooms on our pizza to be found! Same for broccoli Rabe - one piece and sausage if any was so minimal you couldn't taste it. A $200 bill for a pizza dinner? Salads good and meatballs were almost as good as Moms.

Mary T.

Yelp
We did not stay at the Inn, but stopped in for dinner. The dining room is beautiful and the people were super friendly. The food was expensive and a little too "foodie" for our Texas tastes, so we stuck with hamburgers.

Donna M.

Yelp
This is a wonderful tavern with delicious food, nice staff and lovely ambiance. They have done a nice job renovating a lovely old inn and keep their focus on offering gourmet small plate appetizers, gourmet salads, pasta dishes and brick oven pizza. Their simple desserts are top notch as well. Management really cares because they also focus on wine and beer menu to check all the boxes for most discerning imbibers. The frosting on the cake is the absolutely beautiful garden greeting you as you enter this very special place.

Alexandra W.

Yelp
Caveat: this is only a review of the restaurant, as we didn't stay in the inn, but were recommended to go here for dinner, as it was a very short walk from where we were staying. Holy cow, this was one of the best meals we'd ever had. We dined in the tavern part of the restaurant, as we were somewhat casually dressed after a long drive, but we still felt like we received an extraordinarily fine dining experience in front of the beautiful fireplace. We started with a cheese plate, which included some delightful cheeses and some of the best crostini I'd ever had (not too hard). For our entrees, I had the salmon and my husband had the pork chop. The salmon was seared to perfection and just fell apart in my mouth. The bite of pork chop I had was also quite tender and flavorful. Everything was plated beautifully and complimented by delicious sides. For dessert we shared a blueberry cobbler that made me momentarily regret getting married so that I would have been able to have the whole thing to myself. This is definitely a pricey meal, but for a special occasion, it is worth every penny. We will certainly consider staying at the inn in the future, as it was a lovely place with warm and friendly people.
