The Rec Hotel, Northam

I had the privilege of eating at the The Rec in Northam last night.  I had a hard time working out what was better the food or the service. Firstly, the food. We ordered the Duck Spring Rolls, Brisket Burger and the Snapper and Chips.  The food was all first class.  My meal had 3 nice portions of snapper that were great.  Made the meal easy to eat and also made sure I wasn't spilling things onto the tables.  The brisket burger was a weird one in that it was so tender and juicy yet the bun was still completely in tact and not soggy or splitting. The food was awesome, however I could not get past the staff.  They were friendly efficient and so helpful with everyone.  I watched them work the rooms with grace.  You couldn't wipe the smile off their face, and it was infectious.  I could not imagine anyone having a bad time.

I was very pleasantly surprised with one of the best meals I have had out! Work lunch with 12 midwives with limited time to spare and ordered all at once. Every meal was not only beautifully presented but brought out all in the same flow, no one waiting, and everyone raved at the gourmet quality. As for me, it is challenging to get perfectly cooked fish but whoa, it was 5 star, seriously changed my hopes for delicious meals out in this town. Thanks to the chef. I'm here again with a friend to see what else on this menu will be my next favourite! 😋

OMG!!! Such a lovely experience!! Taking my father and family back to Northam and we were welcomed so very warmly to lunch at The Rec. we stayed for lunch - blew my mind with the size, taste and presentation. Hats off to the chef!! All the staff were so friendly and accommodating to a senior with a walker especially Joy!! So very very glad we went there. A beautiful walk down memory lane for dad. Thank you so very much xx

Came here for lunch with some friends on New Year’s Day to have a feed and watch the cricket. Food was genuinely S-tier and we got more than our money’s worth portion-size-wise. Good selection of pints too. Cheers guys!

Visited for the second time last week and Joey honestly made the experience both times we have been here. He created a comfortable atmosphere and treated everyone with respect, whether you’re a regular or it’s your first visit. He’s quick with recommendations and made us a couple of drinks based on a rough idea of what we liked — they were perfect. Watching him and the other young lady handle a full bar smoothly was impressive. Staff like him are the reason people come back. Will be coming in again next time.

We had a room in the new motel building across from the old hotel. The room was modern and clean but very compact. There was a stocked minibar fridge but could not find a price list for the contents, so we stayed well clear. The bed was comfy and the room quiet at night. Parking close to the door. Sadly we were given two threadbare towels for use. At the price for a night - getting up towards $300 - we expected better, a lot better. |The beautiful revamped hotel over the road has excellent food at reasonable prices, and nice beer garden areas.

Ordered the pork belly salad. Was and interesting mix, pork was burnt and very dry. My partners steak was over cooked. Besides the food the bar itself is very nice

Had a meal there on Friday for a friends birthday. Ordered the curry special and the lamb ribs then proceeded to our table. The meals were presented to us in a paper bag as if it was uber eats. Wasn't good. The waitress then took them away and came back with the food on plates. The ribs were put on a cereal bowl with 4 ribs provided for $23. The curry wasn't to bad. When we were asked about the meals by another waitress told her of the above comments. Her response was oh well that's not good. Wont be going there again
