The Red Barn Restaurant and Brewery on a summer Friday night - patios set up outside with umbrellas to shade the sun; a local band plays from the parking lot beyond a fence; and lots of people having fun.
This was our first visit in so many years, I don't remember when we were there last. We were so hungry when we arrived, I forgot to take many pictures - I did get two.
If you haven't been, they have a very extensive menu of beer and liquor. There must have been over a dozen beers on tap, but I'm more a bourbon drinker and they had sherry casked Angel's Envy, something I've never seen at a restaurant before. Their liquor prices as very reasonable - a 2 ounce pour of Angel's Envy was $10. We were somewhere a few weeks ago where the price would have easily been twice that amount.
They also have an extensive menu, decent prices, and HUGE portions. We ordered appetizers at the table - fried pickles, which I didn't try, a GIANT pretzel (and I mean it was the biggest I'd ever seen), but the stand out was we got a side of their baked beans. Wow - delicious.
We all had different entrees - Calamari, Pulled Pork, Empanadas, and I had their traditional burger. Everyone was happy with their meals, but I can't comment on what I didn't have. Their burger was 1/2 pound. I ordered medium and it came out well done, but the meat was still very good and still juicy. As mentioned earlier, their portions were huge, so none of us got desert.
The service was also good. There were three servers working outdoors. I'm not sure how many tables there were - I'm guessing 30+. So the servers were a bit stretched and I imagine they also had tables indoors. They were still present and attentive.
The live music adds a great touch. Since it was outdoors, it was easier to talk to each other but the music was still loud so we did have to raise our voices to talk. But not as bad as it would have been indoors.
We truly enjoyed our meal and the entertainment. Had the burger come out as ordered, I would have given five stars.
