The Red Lion Inn, Penderyn

Recommended by locals because it is somewhat secluded on a hill in a picturesque location next to an old church with a cemetery, the Red Lion, which its name and exterior would suggest is a pub, turns out to be a fancy restaurant with creative cuisine that could easily earn a Michelin star and even offers vegetarian options. The cosy atmosphere and extremely attentive staff justify the slightly higher prices. Highly recommended!

Popped in here for lunch this week while visiting the area, really lovely staff and very dog friendly ( we have three ) we were made to feel really welcome and the food is absolutely delicious

Absolutely brilliant food, on a par with some fine dining restaurants in London. It however must be remembered that this is a public house and serves walkers etc and people popping in for a beer (or three). There is also an outside area with pods and a pizza stove, all in all it’s heaven to me. Excellent beer as well!😃

After a fantastic tour at the Penderyn distillery, we decided to have lunch at the Red Lion Inn. Our luck put us by the cozy fireplace, and the dishes we ordered were not only visually appealing but also incredibly delicious. This charming, centuries-old country pub is nestled on a quaint country road, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. The friendly staff served us with a smile, and we savored every bite of our meal, knowing it was made from locally sourced ingredients. The menu featured a variety of drink options to complement the flavorful dishes. While some might find a few menu items a tad on the pricey side, I personally believe that the superior quality of the food, combined with the delightful ambiance, justifies the cost. An excellent choice for those who appreciate good food in a delightful setting.

First time eating here. Terrible disappointment. Ridiculously overpriced menu items. Ordered lamb shoulder burger (£21) received a child's sized bun and order of fries, devoid of any presentation - merely a snack at best. As it was a family occasion I didn't complain or send it back, but felt greatly insulted by the steep price of the food and the awfully inadequate size and quality of the meal overall. Dessert of creme brulee (£10) tasted fine but was also substandard, not set and runny. So will not be returning nor recommending this place or it's menu, which is a shame as it's a lovely old pub with open fires etc.

We celebrated my partners 60th birthday here and it was lovely 😍. Food is really well prepared and presented. Delicious and fresh.

Beautiful pub with very traditional decor and a fantastic beer garden out back with a converted shipping container selling pizza as well as their own food inside. The staff were very pleasant and the food was absolutely amazing!! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

We found this pub online and decided to attend after reading all the great reviews about it. The pub set in a lovely part of the country with a small winding road leading up to the car park with lots of spaces available and outdoor seating should you choose to brave the weather. We sat inside and ordered our food and drinks fairly quickly. The drinks arrived soon after, but the food took quite a long time to arrive. Although the dinner menu was small, the pork tenderloins and beef fillet that we ordered were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. We would visit this establishment again as the food and drinks were great and the atmosphere was friendly. The only let down was the delay in service for various things such as food or the bill never arriving. We would recommend!
