The Red Room

Excellent. Just what I have come to expect from Chefs Warehouse. The Red Room setting is luxury, lighting is perfect, seating comfortable, tables perfectly space to allow privacy. Service is on point, professional, 100% customer focused and friendly. We had the Chef's menu, everything was very good to excellent. Highlights were the Seared Tuna, Trout Crudo and Grilled Line Fish. Dishes are well presented, cooked to perfection and delicious. Excellent wine list and drinks menu. Very sophisticated but still comfortable and welcoming. Well worth the cost and an absolute must when in Cape Town.

I had such a wonderful experience at The Red Room in Cape Town! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A special mention goes to Ren, our waiter, who was absolutely fantastic – attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations that made the evening even more enjoyable. The cocktails are out of this world – I tried several throughout the evening, and each one was beautifully balanced, creative, and delicious. Definitely a highlight of the night! As someone who appreciates plant-based dining, I was thrilled to see that the vegan options on the menu are outstanding. They’re not just an afterthought, but truly flavorful and thoughtfully crafted dishes that can stand on their own. All in all, The Red Room delivered an unforgettable dining experience, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

This place is a hidden gem inside the Mount Nelson i has never heard of it until recently. The ambiance is top notch so is the food and service. One concerning matter is staff behavior as a certain waitress made one of our clients uncomfortable the individual concerned approached the poor guy to solicit his number and having inappropriate conversations with him as he tried to avoid the matter by leaving the venue lo and behold this individual followed him. This behavior is inappropriate and creates discomfort for customers and I believe does not represent the standards of your company. Nonetheless the food and service from the whole team was perfect.

Really underwhelming experience for me. There’s a lot of room for improvement. The Chinese Flower bread served 1st was the the best dish of the night for me. The cauliflower was much too sweet, the oysters okay. The duck though, was a let down, lacking any authentic flavour, even tasted like smoked duck, which is unlike Peking duck, this was disappointing. Desserts were well priced and not bad. Being part of the chefs warehouse group I expected a lot more than they delivered. I don’t think I will try this again.

Situated in the Mount Nelson Hotel There's many mixed reviews concerning this restaurant, however, it's been on my list to try for a while now as I thoroughly enjoy Asian cuisine, and I was convinced that we would have a fantastic dining experience as I wouldn't expect anything less coming from the Chefs Warehouse group. We had booked an early dinner, mid week, straight after work. There were only two other couples when we arrived, but by 9 pm the restaurant was about half full. The space is really exotic! Great ambiance and decor, and the service was impeccable! Taras is the manager there (he used to work at The Bailey), and his knowledge about wines and the cuisine is highly commendable! I discovered a new white wine, which I have added to my list of all-time favorites! We chose to order from the a la carte menu instead of the set menu. The food was so beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. Due to my sweet tooth, I'd probably say dessert was my favorite dish - but bar that, I'd highly recommend the Prawn toast and Duck Pancake. Will definitely be back to try the other options.

If you go to Red Room by Chefs Warehouse you will get Chefs Warehouse! Tapas style menu in 3-4 courses with a vegetarian option, which is almost better than the „normal“ menu. Very good wine menu, staff with attention to detail and a really cool room in the basement of Mount Nelson Hotel. Pricy but worth every single Rand!

27 years ago I had a friend from China who myself and a bunch of friends stayed with for the weekend. On the second night his gran had arrived in South Africa for the first time and decided to cook for everyone. It was the first time that I had ever eaten a Won Ton and it was probably the best thing I'd ever tasted. I was obsessed from that day onwards but for 27 years never tasted that same authenticity than what I did that day, until the Red Room! The chicken wontons were beyond superb and brought me back to that moment all those years ago. But that was just one of the many highlights on their menu. Everything we tasted was incredible and I highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for excellent food, service and an authentic experience. And the cocktails are pretty damn good too!! We will definitely be back!!

Enjoyed a delightful set menu at this restaurant. The host and waiters were courteous and provided helpful information about the meals. Generous portions of tasty food, and the drinks arrived promptly. While the atmosphere wasn't at its peak, it's understandable for an early week visit. Overall, a satisfying dining experience.
