The Reef at Atlantis - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"A stay at this tower within Atlantis is like living in your own paradisiacal apartment with a kitchen, living space, and ocean views. Marble floors, sleek sofas, and chandeliers fill public spaces. Atlantis’s 40 restaurants include several focusing on seafood: Try ancho chile–rubbed salmon at Mesa, conch fritters at Bimini Road. Swimming with dolphins is a highlight of activities on offer at man-made but effective Dolphin Cay."

"The Reef It seems there’s something for everyone atAtlantis Paradise Island Resort. While the tower that houses The Cove centers on adult-oriented fun, The Reef features family-friendly condo-style accommodations with kitchenettes that better help mom and dad budget and organize. All have private balconies, but the deluxe options have full ocean views and are steps from the beach. Reef guests share a private pool, called Cascades, and a section of coast with guests of The Cove, many of whom—to the benefit of Reef families—prefer the party scene at The Cove’s adults-only Cain Pool. Though the Reef sits at the far end of the Atlantis complex, with almost no dining options of its own, all of the resort’s attractions and activities are only a short walk or free shuttle ride away."

I loved the rooms. We stayed here for a week and loved the entire week. The cleaning service people and all the other workers were extremely nice. The bus service is amazing, especially for a resort. The beach side view is amazing, and a pool is just out back with a short walk to the rapids River and aquaventure.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite in the Reef. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, with a small kitchen. The staff was wonderful. The beach was fantastic! We snorkeled right off the beach and saw turtles, spotted eagle rays, fish, etc. The water park is fun - the river rapids was my favorite. The food was just ok and expensive. We made a stop at the grocery store on the way to the resort to help offset costs. We had a wonderful time- 6 days and 5 nights with 4 adults and 2 teenage girls (15).

Our kids said this was their favorite trip ever. We stayed for 7 days and 6 nights, I was concerned they would get bored but there’s so many places to explore! Things to note about the reef specifically: there is not a freezer or oven so choose groceries wisely. There was one towel hook so not alot of places to put wet swimsuits to dry. We had stuff hanging everywhere! For the waterpark, our son’s foot was badly bruised after ramming into the side of the falls waterslide, so aim for a double tube on that one. We were always able to find a lounge chair and even ones with an umbrella. The reef pool was also nice and not ever crowded. Yes, food and drinks are more expensive but comparable to other islands where importing is a necessity. Staff is very friendly everywhere and they really aim to please.

A very nice condominium-style hotel for your stay. Spacious rooms with large bathrooms, and various kitchen amenities depending on room type. Book the Harbour side rooms if you enjoy sunset views.

We had the best time. There is something for everyone here. The rooms at the Reefs were comfortable and spacious, and the staff were all friendly. The food was great everywhere, albeit a little pricey. Also, be prepared for the VAT tax added on everything.

Friendly service and prices post Covid arent outrageous for an island that probably imports nearly all the ingredients and food needed to make meals at all these restaurants. Entrees between $30-40 is reasonable for people from the big American cities. Weather has been fantastic and access to private beach and pools remain a good privilege. Try Ka Sa Wan and Perenza. Both very good!!

Atlantis is amazing! Yes it's huge and you walk a lot! There's so much to do or the perfect place to just relax beside the pool or on the beach. The rooms were huge and had a well stocked kitchenette. The Waterpark was fun for a day or two but after that we were done with it. The beaches were clean and the lifeguards were attentive. Once lightening and thunder started they effectively got everyone off the beach and inside. The shuttle ran regularly and was free so that was nice. Now for the only downside.... the food is horrible! Worse than horrible actually! It's loaded with MSG which made my son and I very sick. The food is very expensive and is worse than fast food. The pizza place was the only halfway decent place. Atlantis really is awesome and we would recommend it but would warn of the terrible food!

Atlantis is a beautiful resort. There is always something going on and there are many things to do. Overall, the restaurants are great - especially Fish, Claudio's and Paranza (Bimini Road being the exception - stay away). It's expensive but that's to be expected. The pools and waterslides are all amazing. Staff is friendly everywhere. In terms of accommodations, The Reef was where we stayed and I would absolutely not stay there again. It's nice enough, clean and great views but the room we booked had 2 Queen beds and we ended up with 1 King and a pull out couch. Apparently, it was simply requested and not guaranteed? Not a huge deal as my son slept fine on the pull out couch but a little disappointing. Another issue we noticed was that the hallways always smelled like fish. I mean, it reeked! Mostly at night. The room was also neglected 1 of the 4 nights which was upsetting as we wanted to come back to a cleaned up room. I'm nitpicking here but the lobby shop didn't sell any beer or spirits. Apparently, it is not owned by Atlantis and they do not want the third party taking away from the sales of the restaurants/food stands. Would've been nice to unwind with a drink in the room after a long day but no such luck. Other than that, the shuttle service was great for getting around and there was always something to do. I would go back, but I wouldn't stay at The Reef.
