The Reef at Atlantis - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"A stay at this tower within Atlantis is like living in your own paradisiacal apartment with a kitchen, living space, and ocean views. Marble floors, sleek sofas, and chandeliers fill public spaces. Atlantis’s 40 restaurants include several focusing on seafood: Try ancho chile–rubbed salmon at Mesa, conch fritters at Bimini Road. Swimming with dolphins is a highlight of activities on offer at man-made but effective Dolphin Cay."

"The Reef It seems there’s something for everyone atAtlantis Paradise Island Resort. While the tower that houses The Cove centers on adult-oriented fun, The Reef features family-friendly condo-style accommodations with kitchenettes that better help mom and dad budget and organize. All have private balconies, but the deluxe options have full ocean views and are steps from the beach. Reef guests share a private pool, called Cascades, and a section of coast with guests of The Cove, many of whom—to the benefit of Reef families—prefer the party scene at The Cove’s adults-only Cain Pool. Though the Reef sits at the far end of the Atlantis complex, with almost no dining options of its own, all of the resort’s attractions and activities are only a short walk or free shuttle ride away."

Loved The Reef at Atlantis! Got a massive suite, 2 bathrooms with living room annd full kitchen and a lovely spacious balcony. Staff was for the most part lovely. Room very comfortable and clean. Just note that there are no restaurants but it’s a short walk or shuttle ride to The Cove and there are a number of restaurants there. Atlantis is huge and I found overwhelming at first but by day 2 had it figured out. Atlantis is an amazing family destination. I was there with my daughter and her family. They had a 2 bedroom suite across the hall from me. The grandkids could visit easily. The only improvements I could see was possibly a club level for food for the kids and/or a grocery delivery service. My grandkids are 2 and 3 years old and waiting in a restaurant was a scramble. Highly recommend The Reef! Hoping we do it again next year and that more members of our family grouping can join us.

I can’t be more satisfied with our stay at the Reef. Nice room, very clean. Daily room service. The beach is not too big most of the time is calm and enjoyable. All the restaurants nearby offer really good food, kind of pricey I have to say. If you travel with children this is a great choice since you can deal with meal prep at the room. The only downside is that sometimes you deal with some “angry” staff.

The Reef is an amazing hotel. 20 to 25 minutes away from airport. The rooms are very nice and well equipped. This hotel is part of the Atlantis. It has free entrance to the water park, which is great, especially when you have kids. We loved it an we will be back next year

Whilst I have loved going to the reef many times in the past, things seem to have gone downhill. Staff friendliness (except housekeeping who were great), room view (worst we have had), room and water smell (made it undrinkable and even the shower smelled), water park water temperature was cold. But beach beds at the reef were a nice upgrade from the past, even though many of them were still broken.

I would avoid this place at all cost. The resort is old and badly needs a renovation, the rooms are also outdated, the food is terrible everywhere in the resort in spite of the celebrity chefs, the service is appalling and everything is wildly overpriced. It was our worst vacation experience in years and we decided to check out early after 2 days (we had booked an entire week - what a mistake!)

I loved the rooms. We stayed here for a week and loved the entire week. The cleaning service people and all the other workers were extremely nice. The bus service is amazing, especially for a resort. The beach side view is amazing, and a pool is just out back with a short walk to the rapids River and aquaventure.

Luxury pricing, basic hot-water failure We stayed at Atlantis Paradise Island in premium ocean-view suites at the Reef (20th and 21st floors)—one 1-bedroom and one 2-bedroom—on a five-night stay totaling close to $20,000. We were not impacted the first evening only because we arrived late. For the next four days, however, hot water was largely unavailable during peak shower hours (around 4–5pm). This was reported multiple times but never resolved during our stay. As a result: * Members of our group had to go to the spa just to take a warm shower * We were told we could use the transit lounge showers * Hot water only returned the morning of departure, forcing a late checkout so all six of us could shower * Spa staff told us the same issue occurred over Thanksgiving, suggesting a known, recurring capacity problem * We were repeatedly told a manager would call us, but no call ever happened. Hot water is a basic expectation, especially at nearly $5,000 per night in premium suites. While the resort refunded $3,000, this did not adequately reflect the disruption or duration of the issue. Atlantis has beautiful grounds, but until core infrastructure reliability and guest-service follow-through improve, it does not consistently deliver an experience that justifies its pricing.

The amount they will hold and charge on your card varies significantly from what is explained . The website room explains room types that aren’t even available. Without even spending half of the original hold amount for incidentals they randomly charged more to my card. Ryan at the front desk lied about my accommodation and then called the day before checkout to say he was charging my card another 1k for my room type I never asked for. I waited 5 hours just to check in on day one because my room wasn’t ready.
