The Reef Resort

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff are so lovely, the location is incredible right on the lake, and our room was perfect and had the most amazing view. The pool was heated and we LOVED it — we spent at least 3 hours a day in it after our activities that day. Thank you to the team at Reef Resort, y’all make this a very special place.

Best stay! Right on the lake with basement parking. Super clean. No fuss check-in and friendly hosts and the pools...THE POOLS! I cannot even describe how nice the swimming pool is, it's a freshwater, heated to mid 30's with a deep end, I'm not sure what it's made of (white concrete or stone?) and it's super clean. Then there is the thermal water hot tub! A beautiful 40 degrees with hot, mineral water trickling in every now and then to keep it up to temp. Also, very, very clean...Divine! There are also loads of pool towels available to use. Cannot wait to stay here again.

Always love staying here. The people that own the place are super friendly. Rooms are always immaculate too with comfy beds. And a wee pool right outside your back door located near some of the rooms. Recommend!

Lovely spacious hotel with geothermally warmed swimming pools. Lots of pool noodles available for the kids too. Towels available in reception and comfy spacious rooms with a kitchenette and cooking equipment. Love it. 2 minutes walk to the lake via the rear driveway where you can access the hot geothermal water springs, and have a soak if you wanted. Baby chair was provided too, which made feeding kids super helpful.

no complaints at all. The Guy at the front desk was super friendly, happy to give advice on where to eat and very keen for us to take full advantage of their facilities. their facilities included a geothermally heated pool and spa as well as a Laundry. the room was clean, comfortable and well equiped. the spa bath was especially nice.

This place is amazing. Nice stay and service. Especially, 5 stars for the spa in the room and hot pool. Spacious, and clean. They even gave us complimentary upgrade. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one. Apologies for the late review. Highly recommend this place.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was a fantastic experience. They even left a special gift for us on arrival. Lovely place and the heated pools were very appreciated for a cold night outside.

I can’t fault this place. Our room was huge (luxury studio) with a gorgeous view of the lake, the pool and spa were amazing and the staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We spent one night at this hotel as part of our tour package. Upon arriving, we were thrilled to be staying here. The person running the front desk (owner?) was very nice when we checked in and gave us towels in case we wanted to use the hot tub. Then we went our room and discovered that our room was in fact a suite! We had a living room/kitchenette, a bedroom and a bathroom. The bathroom felt luxurious, with a marble countertop and a step leading up to a whirlpool bathtub. After seeing our room, we explored the property a bit. It's a small hotel and has a personal feel, not like a big chain hotel. It all looked clean and modern, with several pools and hot tubs. Also, the hotel is right on beautiful Lake Taupo. Bottom line, this place was great. We very much enjoyed staying here and would absolutely recommend staying here.

Stayed here for two nights in April. Check-in was fast, very friendly and welcoming. The 'appartment' had a nice kitchen for cooking, a lovely bathtub and a good bed. The weather was very cold when we stayed here and the room was therefore extremely cold. There was an AC, but in the common room, so the bedroom was sooo cold, which made it hard to sleep and not very pleasant.
