The Reef Retreat Palm Cove

My partner and I stayed 2 nights in a superior spa suite which was very fresh, clean and spacious and the spa and kitchen were well provided. It had a lovely view overlooking the pretty heated swimming pool and we felt like we were nestled in a tranquil rainforest with many beautiful Melaleuca trees growing right next to the outdoor kitchen/living area. I highly recommend this resort - with the beach only a few steps away and also close to the many nearby restaurants it has everything you could wish for in a romantic getaway. The hosts, Jim and Joanne are welcoming, very knowledgeable of the area and helpful with local information.

We loved ending our trip to Cairns at the Reef Retreat in Palm Cove. Check in was a breeze, wonderful service from the front desk, plenty of parking and the beach was a few steps away. The room & suite was cosy yet spacious and it was great to have a balcony area to sit out and catch the rainfall one night. The pool was the best we'd experienced so far, deep and heated just right. Can't wait to be back in Palm Cove and stay at the Reef Retreat!

A gem of a hotel located just back from the front at the delightful Palm Cove. The facility has everything you need as either a base to explore the local eateries or to self cater. Everything is there including hairdryers, ironing facilities and the smart tv will allow you to log in and continue watching your favourite Netflix series. Friendly and helpful staff.||Palm Cove is delightful with its golden sand, safe swimming area and beach walks (award winning beach). ||You can’t go wrong either in Palm Cove or specifically at The Reef Retreat.

We loved our 6 night stay here! It felt like a true escape — relaxing, private, and surrounded by lush greenery. The whole place has a peaceful, sheltered feel that instantly slows you down.||One of our favourite features was the pool — tucked under massive trees that gave it such a magical, resort-meets-rainforest vibe. It was clean, neat and had a constant warm temperature. They swept up the leaves each morning throughout the whole complex.||Our room had everything we needed. The bed was huge and super comfy, the pillows were fresh and thick (a rare win!), and the outdoor kitchen was an absolute highlight — perfect for relaxing and cooking without filling the room with food smells and steam. It made the whole stay feel more like a laid-back retreat than just another accommodation room.||What really stood out was how different this place felt from your typical "cookie-cutter" resort. No massive pools packed with people, no boxy rooms stacked side by side. We had our own private deck nestled under the trees — quiet, peaceful, and perfect for morning coffee and afternoon snooze.||There were a few little quirks, like the water temperature fluctuating at times — but those were easy to work with given everything else this place offers.||It’s tropical, charming, well-priced, and just a short stroll to the beach and local restaurants (with nightly ice cream runs in my case!).||Can’t wait to return — it’s definitely one of my most memorable holidays.

We had 4 nights here recently and really enjoyed our stay. Jim on reception was very welcoming and friendly. As we had flown from Adelaide on the 6am flight we were very pleased to be able to access our room early so we could start our relaxing holiday. The property is older but everything was clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. It was in a great position close to the beach and restaurants. Water pressure in the shower was a bit feeble but adequate. We would definitely book this property again on our next visit to palm cove.

Stayed here for 4 nights and overall had an enjoyable stay. The room we had was spacious and the bed linen and towels were clean. We had a private door into our balcony which was also nice. I would say that the pool needs cleaning as does the hot tub and generally a good tidy up around the grounds which would make it a lot nicer. There are no eating/drinking facilities on site but bars and restaurants are a 2/3 minute walk away. You can buy drinks from the fridge in the reception. Jim and Joanne were very helpful and Jim especially helped us booking car hire and trips so I don’t get the rude review on here.

We visited the reef retreat in palm cove for the 5th time…..once again, it was fabulous. So relaxing, the weather was terrific and we had lots of opportunities to read, swim and enjoy ourselves. We would never go anywhere else… the reef retreat is our go to place. |Thank you Jim and Joanne.

This is our fourth stay at The Reef Retreat Palm Cove. So much to love here - the comfortable bed, balcony overlooking your own little rain forest, wonderful outdoor bbq/dining, close proximity to the beach and numerous cafes and restaurants. Reef Retreat Palm Cove has to be one of the most relaxing places we have stayed at. Jim and Joanne are very welcoming and ably assisted by Alan who keeps the gardens immaculate. We found the resort to be very clean with good bed linen. Thank you Jim for another relaxing stay!
