Had Charles as my instructor, absolute top bloke. Learnt so much from the lesson and every group member progressed so fast with his help. Great instructor who knew exactly how to teach each group member. Explained everything perfectly and simplistically.

July 2024 - Beautiful mountains with amazing slopes for all skill level. If you’re a beginner, I personally recommend Coronet peak first and once confident, try the remarkables beginner slopes. I was blessed with fresh powder on the day. It snowed all day long 😆 The drive up was amazing and there were chain stations along the way. There were several free parking areas at the top with a shuttle service. The slopes were well groomed and the staff was friendly and helpful. The drive down the mountain was challenging despite a 4x4 with snow chains. I had traction issues a few times so please be careful. I look forward to returning in the future for another ski season.

The Remarkables in Queenstown is a picturesque ski area with stunning views. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a series of disappointing interactions with the staff. While the mountain itself was beautiful and the snow conditions were excellent, our day was overshadowed by issues with ticket purchases and customer service. We initially purchased our passes downtown, explaining our family's needs and the fact that one of us would primarily be in the learning area with our son and the other adult in restaurant with our 2yrs old daughter. Despite this, we were sold expensive day passes for everyone, even though we only needed passes for those going on learning area. Upon arriving at the mountain, we discovered the issue and attempted to rectify the situation at the ticket office. However, we were met with indifference and unhelpful staff. Despite explaining our situation and providing proof that we hadn't used one of the passes, it took considerable effort to obtain a partial refund. And to top off the disappointment, I discovered that there are cheaper tickets for those who only stay in the learning area. This was extremely frustrating because we spent over $300 on passes that we did not need. It's unfortunate that such a beautiful location is overshadowed by poor customer service. While The Remarkables offers a nice skiing experience and beautiful view, potential visitors should be cautious when purchasing tickets and be prepared to advocate for themselves to avoid overpaying.

What a fabulous day of Introduction to Skiing. I booked this as a group lesson. Group size was perfect. Ability level very well matched to group members. Our instructor Cam was truly fantastic. Calm patient very knowledgeable, understanding supportive and kind giving discreet support without making anyone feel humiliated. Achieved more than I ever expected doing a full downhill section from the top of the magic Carpet ski lift - tunnel to the right of the photo. All in breathtakingly beautiful scenery. Equipment was all high quality in good condition. Collection and return was straightforward. The day was great value. Highly recommended for those completely new to skiing. Highly recommended.

We drove up in summer and drive up itself is windy but offers up amazing views of Queenstown. It was cool to see all the lift up and close when not running.

During the 3-day Women's Performance Camp at The Remarkables, I had the most incredible time with the ladies. Our instructor, Conny, from Austria, did a fantastic job of guiding all of us to reach our next level of skiing. She was attentive, knowledgeable, eager to teach, and supportive, even managing to keep the lesson enjoyable in a blizzard. The most important thing was that she accurately identified our weaknesses and provided clear instructions on how to fix them. Over the three days, we tackled some challenging terrain that I never imagined I could conquer. The overall experience was both challenging and empowering while maintaining a sense of safety and non-pressure. I highly recommend this rewarding program to other women looking to improve their skiing skills. For anyone seeking a private lesson, I strongly recommend our instructor, Conny. Thanks for the good time!

Beautiful region, maybe suited for first timers. But for more experienced skiers, the runs aren’t varied and hugely weather dependent. Not enough snow and the pistes are not so well groomed with rocks and bare patches. Super crowded during the local school holiday with lots of reckless beginners prone to collision. Unfortunately the Southern hemisphere doesn’t have the same offering when it comes to skiing.

First time up The Remarkables and it won't be the last. The snow was good for NZ if you catch my drift. The service when welcomed is second to none. I was greeted by a lovely young lady named Bonnie who was extremely helpful with all my queries, what excellent customer service. Always helps the experience, great work!

Yelp
One word to describe The Remarkables Ski Field.. Remarkable! Me and my friend were doing a 10 day road trip throughout all of the south island of New Zealand. Queenstown is one of the prime spots in New Zealand to be so we had to spend a little extra time there. Now for me the last time I had been snowboarding was about 8 - 10 years prior. I was going into this expecting to just fall on my ass every time down the mountain haha. But.. it only happened the first time. Then I just got a feel for it again and was able to ride around and have fun with it. I also had an inner talk with myself to stop falling down like I was one of the 5 year olds getting a lesson from a coach hahah. If you're new at it you'll definitely be going on the beginner slope. I stayed there about 20 minutes and then worked my way up to the intermediate. And if you're a pro they have expert mountains too. If you think you will go intermediate just get the lift pass because you can do beginner to warmup and then do everything above it. You'll get a card that you scan or show to the attendant when you get on the lift or ramp to get to the top of your mountain. The process of renting your equipment takes a little while so prepare for that accordingly. They rent you everything but goggles. Snow jacket and pants included so you don't need to buy your own. The beginner pass with equipment rental is about $150nzd for the day. The lift pass which takes you to anything past the beginner slope is $139 plus equipment rental so close to $200 for the day. And if you live local of course you can buy a season pass and go as much as you want! I recommend being an early bird and getting there within an hour of opening because it will make check in and suiting up go quicker and give you more time on the mountain before it gets crowded. You can get to the mountain driving on your own, but if you're just renting everything like we did you can park in the lot at the bottom of the hill and take a bus up. So much easier! And don't worry about pre buying, you can get a ticket for entry when you get there. The views are wonderful and I loved spending time here! I could literally spend all day there everyday. You definitely have to come here when you're in the area. 5 stars!

Yelp
Living in Hawaii, we don't get snow. So of course, when I want to take holiday, I want to play in the snow. I've only snowboarded 3 times (always a few years in-between each session). So, I am still a beginner and learning. The Remarkables is beginner friendly, however I wish it was a bit wider to give the beginners more room. I found it a bit hard to practice because I was constantly trying to dodge other people. Unfortunately, we only had 2 days on the slopes and we didn't get fresh snow until the day we left. Total fail, but that's just mother nature for you. Since we didn't have fresh snow, the ground was really hard and it hurt to fall TT___TT TRANSPORTATION: Very important to know. https://www.theremarkables.co.nz/transport/ The Remarkables had public transportation options. You can do the Bus ($25) or Hotel Pickup ($35). BUY IN ADVANCE if you want the hotel pickup. They sold out very quickly. If you do the bus option, I highly recommend to just go to the Queenstwon Snow Centre to load on the buses. Even though the map shows like 10 bus stops, they were always full and didn't stop for us. So just walk to the snow center to load up. If you are doing hotel pick up, then you are fine. They make sure to leave the right amount of seats available to guarantee your pickup.

Yelp
It is remarkable that we are celebrating my daighter's birthday in Milford Sound. The mountain range in the South Island of New Zealand are indeed REMARKABLE as they rise in sharp contrast with the lake Wakatipu! My dad is not with us but I can feel him expand in the still waters of the glacier lake and expand in the mist in the undertow of the mountain and feel him look at them at the same time with an amazement in his eyes! Shaandar he would say Shaandar! RemRkable in Urdu! Miss you dad: even though our driver who is taking us to Richard Kipling's eighth wonder of the world, said: Kapoor is not traveling with us today but my Swadeshi Kumar Kapur is traveling with us:)))

Yelp
Is this place called the remarkables because the drive is remarkably ?$&!ing scary? I suggest taking the bus instead of driving yourself (ticket for bus and return is $20 in downtown Queenstown where you can also purchase your lift ticket). I am used to driving in winter in the Sierra Nevada mountains, but this was crazy. What do Kiwis have against guard rales on the edge of cliff drop offs? I guess I'm not extreme....Also if you are from the US keep in mind you need to drive on the opposite side of the road (left) and the opposite side of the car (right). I can't imagine doing this drive after a storm. The mountain has 4 lifts (one high speed 6) and it's all alpine terrain (no tree skiing). Unfortunately 2016 was a bad year for snow due to el Nino so the conditions were not typical for late August. Went on a sunny day as I would rather ski slush than ice. Rented in town and board plus boots was $24 NZD per day (~17 USD). I would say this mountain is more 3 stars when comparing it to resorts in Western North America given how small it is and how much less snow this area gets than say the Rockies, Sierra Nevada, Cascades, Canadian and Alaskan mountain ranges. I give it a 4 for the area though. On a powder day there would be a lot of good runs if you hike. The drive is around 35 minutes from Queenstown if you are able to drive the speed limit, and there is no ski in and ski out here so you must drive up to the mountain everyday.

Yelp
I've snowboarded at three different places in the US, but none of my previous experiences can compare to the Remarkables. It was seriously the best snowboard experience I've ever had. The drive to the ski area is the quickest I've ever been on. They do such a good job in making sure everyone gets there safely. If you don't feel like driving, you can park your car and hop onto a bus. Let's keep in mind, my previous attempts to ski and snowboard weren't at all successful. I've never had the opportunity to learn because the other ski resorts I've been to weren't very tolerant with beginners (even on the beginners slopes). I've always felt rushed, which didn't allow me to take my time in learning. Totally different experience here at the Remarkables. None of the staff rushed me. In fact, all of them were very encouraging. Because I felt more at ease here, I FINALLY learned how to snowboard.

Yelp
The "Official" ski season closed back in September, but when you have a boyfriend with a sense of adventure add a late snow half pipe and you have a great potential for a concussion. Thankfully he escaped bonking his head and we both walked away with all our limbs intact. The Remarkables Ski Area is gorgeous with or without snow. Beautiful vistas everywhere and just a hop and half a skip from Queenstown.

Yelp
A great skiing area. Well looked after. Not far from Queenstown city. Nice slopes and if your a beginner this would be the best place to start. It has large area for practicing. They do all the hire equipment here also along with group session training.

Yelp
I am only an intermediate skier but this is the best ski area I have ever been to. The ski slopes are great and the staff are really nice, I haven't had a single problem so far with this place and would recommend it to anyone who is skiing in the Queenstown area.
