My wife and I stayed in the Saffron Room at The Repose for two nights in early October. This was our first riad stay in a 18 day tour of Morocco. We stayed in five other riads overall, all high quality, during our trip. None compared in the level of service, warm welcome, location, meals and general comfort. Many were older, fancier, with larger rooms, traditional tile and the like, but the The Repose and the Sale's medina were the best of the trip. We consistently said that we wished we had stayed there longer and if we return to Morocco one of the primary reasons is The Repose.|After a very long flight from the west coast of the US and a drive from Casablanca, Jan met us with peppermint tea and a multi-layered tray of pastries and fruit. She told us about the Riad, their renovation process and Sale'. Her welcome was genuine, friendly and warm. This was consistent with all staff and family.|Jan's husband, Rachid, born in Sale', provided a half day tour of the medina. We even visited his elementary school by chance, as well as the markets, craftspeople, historical madrasa, fortifications and pirate prison. It was a joy to talk with him about Sale', Morocco and Africa while watch him greet friends as we walked. We learned about living in a historic building and a medina from both Jan and Rachid. |Breakfasts and the one dinner we had there were suburb. Vegetarian meals were welcome. We would think back to our dinner there as we later faced yet another tagine again and again and again. |We regret did not eat both of dinners on the rooftop at The Repose. The meal at the riad was better than our dinner at Al Marsa by far.|While there we also met Shelia, the 45 year old roof top resident tortoise and learned about her annual hibernation. Jan told me about practice of medina residents leaving scrap lumber in the early morning by the side door of the traditional hammam next door to be burned as fuel. That promoted me to be get up early and walk around the medina as the town was waking up. It is beautiful, peaceful, felt safe and difficult to get lost.|The Repose is well named, a true haven of peace and contentment Visit Sale' and meet Jan and Rachid.

The most beautiful place I have ever stayed in. Each room has it's own style and decor. We stayed for 2 weeks. Jan, Rachid and the team are the most helpful anyone could ask for. Anything you need they are on hand. The breakfast and evening meals are a treat and very filling. My 9 yr old son absolutely loved the place and will miss everyone and the venue very much. I highly recommend The Repose for your stay.

My husband and I had a fabulous stay at The Repose! It was my first time visiting Morocco and Jan and Rachid set a very high bar! We were welcomed at 1am in the morning with mint tea and cookies and their incredible hospitality continued throughout our stay! They arranged for our pickup at the airport. Jan helped plan all of our tours and agendas for the day, and they had everything we could have possibly needed. The Riad and the room were beautiful, our bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and we ate on the rooftop terrace every morning. We loved our stay here and would absolutely come back and stay again. Thanks to Jan, Rachid and everyone at the Riad!

Our stay here was incredible. Jan and Rachid’s Riad is an absolute gem, comfortable, clean and simply beautiful. Jan and Rachid were wonderful attentive hosts, along with their family and staff, who all went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The food was also amazing. I cannot recommend staying here highly enough!

Visiting Rabat? - Simple, stay in Sale at The Repose!||We’d never been to Rabat/Sale before and had planned to stay here a few years ago but the pandemic curtailed that trip. Jan, with her family and staff run an excellent establishment with authentic hospitality; we were so pleased to have finally made it.||The Riad is located in the Sale medina, which is a quieter, more residential area. There are some places to see, like the Mosque and Madrasa but you can just simply meander around, taking in the ‘hustle and bustle’ of daily local life there. The Riad itself is a unique place, comfortable and beautifully decorated in a Moroccan style.||We didn’t really explore the eating options in the medina, there didn’t seem to be many, though there maybe some places available at the marina. This didn’t matter, as we ate both nights at Riad. This was a home cooked, multi course, vegetarian banquet - delicious food, served on the roof terrace with first class service; we are not vegetarian but it’s great to try new things and it was excellent. Breakfast was great too.||Jan is font of local knowledge and will cater for your every need, be it, itinerary, suggestions, etc. We’d wanted to visit Rabat and it is easy to do. Simply walk down to the bottom of the medina (20 mins) to the tram and within 2 stops you are there. Alternatively, you can go down to the marina and pick up one of the many rowing boats that traverse the river. We did both on a round trip (suggested by Jan).||It was a pleasure to stay here and we hope it won’t be as long this time before we can return. Highly recommended.

We have visited Morocco a few times but never been to the area of Rabat Sale. The beach nearby and the sea breeze makes this a perfect location. We found it less touristy than other parts of Morocco we’ve visited and the local people were so friendly. There are many things to do and places to visit in and around the area to satisfy a variety of interests. We were even able to have a day trip to Fez from here! If it’s your first time to this part of the world, I highly recommend staying in Sale and especially at the Le Repose. |This family run riad is tucked away behind the city walls in the very heart of the medina. The accommodation is authentic with attention to the smallest detail, the meals are fresh and beautifully presented and the service was first class. Le Repose was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Jan has a wealth of local knowledge and she and her family made us extremely welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Our experience was unique and exceeded our expectations in every way. I highly recommend Le Repose. Thank you

Each room in the The Repose has a distinct personality and all are decorated beautifully. The rooftop is super cool with a chill vibe. Jen, the proprietor, is engaging and friendly. Her love of Salé/Rabat is contagious. She is incredibly insightful and helpful with anything that you want to know about the entire area.

A very nice riad with a wonderful landlady who gave us a warm welcome. There are minor restrictions but Jan's charm makes up for everything. We particularly liked the fact that vegetarian food was served, away from tajine, couscous and pastilla. A fantastic alternative.
