“Obsessed with this property” is an understatement!
The Reserve is a charming, family-run boutique hotel, and it’s easy to see why it consistently earns five-star reviews. Everything about our stay was exceptional.
As a loyal hotel-points collector, I usually never pass up the chance to use them — but this time, I gladly set them aside because I had to experience The Reserve. I’m so glad I did!
We arrived late in the evening, first greeted by the elegant gated entrance and then by the stunning historic mansion, built in 1898. The Reserve has been lovingly restored to honor its past, with every design choice paying homage to the time period. From the chandeliers and wallpaper to the curtains, furnishings, and layout — every detail has been hand-selected with incredible care. Walking through the house feels like stepping back in time, but with all the comfort and ease of a modern luxury stay.
We stayed in the Buckstaff Room, which we absolutely loved. Although I was simply tagging along on my husband’s business trip, our stay at The Reserve ended up being the highlight of my time in Hot Springs.
Nathan, the owners’ son and a remarkably talented chef, made our mornings unforgettable. The first breakfast featured a Southern classic: chicken and cornmeal waffles, with sweet corn and just a hint of jalapeño folded into the batter. It was unlike any chicken and waffles I’ve ever had, and I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. The second morning brought eggs Benedict with perfectly crisp, golden lyonnaise potatoes. On top of that, Nathan welcomed us with his homemade cream cheese crinkle cookies. I’ve never been a fan of that type of cookie, yet these were so delicious we couldn’t resist taking a dozen home to share with family.
During our downtime, we explored the mansion and grounds — breathtaking at every turn. We even joked about getting married again just to host it here! Mark, one of the owners, kindly gave us a personal tour of the Enclave Suite, a gorgeous separate unit often used by brides and grooms for weddings. Hearing the history of the property and their vision for the future was truly special. Mark, Rhonda, Nathan, and Kaitlyn are a gift to Hot Springs — not only preserving this landmark, but sharing it so generously with guests.
Each morning began with a quiet luxury: complimentary fresh-squeezed orange juice and coffee delivered right to our room. It was the perfect way to start the day.
To summarize: I took countless photos, but even they couldn’t capture the full magic of The Reserve. This is a property you simply have to experience for yourself. From the warm hospitality and exquisite food to the timeless charm of its historic setting, The Reserve will take your breath away the moment you arrive.
