This Midwest City Is One of the Best Places for the Holidays With Its New 1,000-foot-long Riverfront Ice Skating Trail

"The Ribbon is a 1,000-foot-long ice skating trail that winds along the river and leads to an adjacent 5,000-square-foot skating pond. It features cabanas with fire pits and heaters, and offers food delivery from The Garden by Poco Piatti. We drove two hours to try out The Ribbon and it was definitely worth it!! Skating outside is always better than inside and, since they smooth the ice, it was much better than your typical backyard pond experience! I also enjoyed the patio chairs for relaxing/resting. The building was nice and clean with lockers for storage (50¢) and a restaurant. We went in the middle of the day and there were very few people which probably isn't the normal experience -- but it was really nice. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be back!

Such a fun place to go downtown! I love the view of the skyline too! This was my partners first time ever ice skating and we were met there by friends and family! So much fun!

So lots of good things! We go ice skating here every year and the kids always love it. This year we decided to rent a cabana with the whole family. It was awesome and everyone was great EXCEPT for the check in process. I waited for nearly 10 minutes while they checked in someone else but they were incredibly unorganized and the girl didn't seem to know what she was doing. Then when it was my turn she was unorganized for my party as well and even had the audacity to say "You should have been here 15 minutes early". EXCUSE ME but I WAS 15 minutes early, I just had to wait for you and your lack of organization to get through the people in front of me. This really ticked me off. She then just pointed us away when I asked where the cabana was so we ended up walking away and asking someone else who was actually helpful. I was not happy. Once we got to the cabana everything was great, the pizza was good, everyone was friendly and helpful. The hot cocoa was delicious. Everything about the experience was great except for the check in process and the extremely rude person checking people in. This process should be more streamlined by now.

Absolutely wonderful! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The skating area is fun and friendly for all levels of skaters. They have skate helpers so people can learn and feel safe when gliding on the ice. I personally used the handrails and saved $8. So much fun, we will be returning. They have a cafe with food and drinks, fireplaces, outdoor and indoor seating, cabanas to rent, lockers to store stuff and an easy to navigate online reservations center.

Our overall experience was very nice and pleasant. Staff were very nice food and beverages were well priced and good service. The only thing that was an issue we bought a Zamboni ticket for our nephew who is 1. When walking on to the ice arena staff said he had to have ice skates on in order to be in the ice. This was not instructed when we bought the tickets and asks the staff to the Zamboni. While skating we saw three other children in the Zamboni’s and they were older than my nephew. When asking staff they said that it depends if the kid can get out of the Zamboni and walk. I said no he dos not get up and move while the other kids that had the Zamboni’s were walking in the ice. After talking to the staff nothing changed and they still did not let us take him in the Zamboni while watching the other kids were walking in front of staff.

The gardens here are magical, considering the low knowledge of the designers (I heard this from board members, not just fluff!) Seeing Echium, Epimedium, and Baptisia in such proximity is a dazzling treat. The variety of peonies was also joyous.

I've only been to the most southern side of the park but it was pretty nice! We went on the walkway that goes over the water and it was really cool! They have little rope bridges to walk across. I was scared at first but once you fight your fears and go across, it's pretty exciting lol I can't wait to go back and see the whole park!

If this is the place off of Front Street, then it was very good for a memorial service. There were plenty of picnic tables and everything was covered by a roof, although it was not enclosed. You still were outside. There is a place to use to go to the bathroom, an electrical outlet and a grill. You just had to bring your own charcoal. Very peaceful. It was very private. It was a standalone place where there weren’t other people all around just who were invited. Plenty places to park for free. The price was $100. Paid over the phone with debit card but could have used credit card and probably even sent a check. The woman was very friendly on the phone. It was called Beakgros Metro Park, and when going down front street it would’ve been across the street from the back of Waite high school not far from the river
