The Richard Sparrow House (1640)

Really want to come to the museum. It was closed and will be closed for a few weeks. Call for more info. This shop is inside the 1720s house though, and you can see the original floorboards. The person who manages the museum also runs the store, so it’s a lot to manage. Guess I’ll have to come back :-)

What an amazing place! We love it here - have been coming here for 20+ years. The staff are so friendly, and there are so many amazing treasures there waiting to be discovered. A must-see if you are in the area! Attached are a few pictures of our favorite finds :)

Beautiful artist gifts- the staff is wonderful in all ways possible. All their art is made mostly in the USA and some in Canada. They care deeply about the artisans work. AND the gift wrapping is magnificent. The Sparrow House is a small business and a such wonderful place to have in Plymouth.

My favorite place to buy beautiful, unique, made-in-America jewelry, handbags, ceramics. Best gift wrapping and loveliest staff on the South Shore of Massachusetts.

Did some gift shopping here today. Everyone was so friendly, and inviting. They even made sure to give pets to my dog. Excellent collection of handmade goods. Will be back.

The owner finds New England (and some Canadian) artisans and sells their unique, handmade works. So many beautiful, whimsical, and creative pieces. Not only is it a historic building to visit, it's a great place to find one of a kind treasures.

A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!! The website indicated the museum and giftshop were open. We drove 1 hr round trip to be told only the gift shop was open. When we told the lady in the gift shop the website said it was open her response was sort of an "Oh, well" then she said she was not a computer person and had not gotten around to updating. This house, built in 1640, is a seminal piece not only of Massachusetts history, but of American history. It is too important a survivor to be left in the hands of an indifferent group. We realize that small museums have trouble with funding (hence the gift shop) and staffing. But is it too much to ask for an up to date website? Also, when we looked through the windows, the museum was stuffed with boxes. It was used as storage for the gift shop. How sad a use for a 380 year old building. As an aside, the woman did not even apologize for the inconvenience, nor could she give us an opening date. This group just uses the museum as a come on to get people into the gift shop. The house should be maintained by a more responsible preservation organization.
