I had an opportunity to stay at Ridgeline Hotel in January 2025 with a photography group exploring Yellowstone park, and look forward to doing so again next year. The hotel is located along a beautiful river so many, if not all, of the rooms offer a quiet and peaceful one night or more stay. The hotel offers a restaurant next door and ease of access to other food and retail type establishments in town. A special thank you to Carolyn and Cindy for being available with any questions or needs during my stay, and a big shout out to them for offering the "smore kit" which was a lot of fun to enjoy by the fire next to the office. Also, I would be remise if I didn't thank Cedar for his help with a technology question just before checking out. As I experienced, each of these kind folks have a genuine interest in helping the hotel's guests during their stay, and I certainly appreciated during my two night stay.

This time last year (January) I made a reservation for Ridgeline through Choice Hotels for September as a part of a 6-week western trip. I received a confirmation email with conformation number. One week before our scheduled stay I received an email with my confirmation stating that they were looking forward to our stay. When I arrived I was told they did not have a room for my wife and me. They repeatedly asked me my name. I repeatedly told them. I also offered my confirmation number. They did not want to see that and kept saying they had no room for me and were fully booked. Finally they took my confirmation number and told me that Choice had not transferred my reservation to the hotel. Despite that I had a reservation, they would not give me a room. They offered me a room, late in the evening that was at the other end of Yellowstone and not acceptable for our itinerary. Finally we found our own room in town which cost more and was not as suitable for us. I later understood that they were supposed to help secure a local room for us, but they did not. The manager on duty was rude and unhelpful. Later a Ridgeline staff person, who was kind and helpful, said she was trying to get Choice to give us points to make up for their mistake. After weeks of trying, and several phone conversations she had gotten nowhere. I cannot recommend this hotel and no longer recommend Choice Hotels. They apparently are not interested in my business and will no longer get it.

I stayed here two nights our friends and I visited Yellowstone Park. Our rooms overlooked the mountains! The picture was taken on our last morning from just outside the door of my room. The people were super friendly. They have a great patio area that is covered and pretty windproof, with a fire pit in the middle. Every day you can get two s’mores packages from the front desk if you want them. The rooms were very clean, although some have commented, are a little dated. But don’t let that put you off, I cannot imagine a more convenient place for visiting the park. I have to save the price, took my breath away, but everything around here seems quite expensive. I would stay here again.

Google
Top notch experience, we were greeted warmly and professionally. So many little personal touches from the free s’mores over the fire to the offer of help bringing our luggage to our room. Very comfortable very clean worth every penny. With the pool and hot tub and games room as an extra bonus. Watch out for the elk when they are sleeping at night and you were walking your dog.

Google
The hotel is older but they have nicely remodeled/updated the interiors. There are no elevators which is fine but several boards on the outdoor stairs were in need of repair/replacement. The hotel is located very close to multiple eating options, buts right up to the river (highly recommend river view rooms), they offer free smores kits every day along with a large fire pit, free laundry facilities (including detergent and dryer sheets) and bikes for rent/use.

We enjoyed our experience at the Ridgeline Hotel. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The front desk attendants were very helpful and polite. (We loved the evening s'mores at the fire pit.) The location of the hotel is fabulous, just outside the northeast entrance to Yellowstone Park. We will definitely use this hotel again.

The bathtub was super dangerous. You can tell the hotel half assed trying to fix it by laying down non-slip strips but they were dirty and not properly applied. The bed seemed old and was super uncomfortable and the fridge was incredibly loud- what an awful night. The shower head was dirty, there was dust everywhere, and the air conditioner did not work well and has not been cleaned out in quite some time. No complimentary breakfast but we got bottles of water. Woohoo. What a waste of money almost $400/night - find a better place to stay. Beware of the price gouge. You’re not paying for the view, you have the park for that. Extremely disappointed.

Google
What an amazing spot! We stayed at the cabins and they were so nice and comfortable. Super quiet and everything's brand new. The drive to the hot springs is only 5 min away. The hotel was super clean going to the pools and hot tub. The hot tub was clean and wonderful. So close to Yellowstone also! Edit. The prices have gotten ridiculous and we won't be staying here anytime soon. What happened? You doubled the prices within a year.

Yelp
We stayed 2 nights while visiting Yellowstone. The Lobby and outside fire pit area was great! I was excited about our hotel choice and then I stepped back into 1984 when I entered our room. Unfortunately, I did not have a renovated room. The carpet was suspect, there was coffee (?) stains all over the lamp shade and something brown on the ceiling. The beds were average. We did take advantage of the free S'mores and went next door to the bar - only thing opened past 9pm. The view was amazing and everything was in walking distance. I did not know they had bear spray for free until after we left. We did use the Binoculars that are in each room and so thankful we did! Overall, I would stay again but would book an upgraded room.

Yelp
Awesome cabins. I can't speak for the other hotel rooms but getting one of the relatively new construction modern cabins to yourself is great! Minus 1 star because the shower has incredibly low water pressure. The 9 cabins are situated behind the main hotel and have their own communal grass lawn, with games like corn hole, and also a huge firepit which they supply you with Smores for. There seems to be a resident elk that hangs out it in the area, as well as 2 little bunny rabbits which are cool. The cabin itself has a front porch with two chairs and a rooftop deck with another two chairs. Great mountain views from the rooftop deck. One of the cabins is wheelchair accessible including an elevator attached to that cabin to get to it's rooftop deck. Inside the cabin is a kitchenette with 2 burner stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, ice maker, small dorm room fridge with tiny freezer. No dining table but a counter top with two bar stools. There's a couch with an awesome fake fireplace and a TV. Unfortunately the TV does not tilt downwards so it catches the reflection of the bright windows up high. The TV in the bedroom also doesn't tilt downwards. All in all it is a fun place to stay, but definitely meant for just 2 people. If you must you can squeeze more people or children onto the sofa bed. The parking lot has one EV Charger by ChargePoint. Next door is a fun drive bar with a pool table and video gambling including Slots, Keno, and Poker. Max bet is $2 and Mac payout is $800.

Yelp
Hotel is near the north entrance of Yellowstone NP. It's one of our favorite hotels from our trip. They charge an extra $10 fee per night. You get free s'ores and borrow bikes, binoculars and walking stick. It located in Gardiner. There were plenty of Elks roaming around town. Roosevelt Arch is close by. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Room itself was ok. We got the ground floor room and was only staying a night. They have a restaurant on the next building. Being on the ground floor, you have two entrances... from the parking lot and within the hotel. Staff were friendly and provided recommendations around the area. I would recommend the hotel. Wish we were staying more than a night to take advantage of the other amenities.

Yelp
I am deeply disappointed with my recent stay at The Ridgeline. Despite being loyal customers for years, our experience this time was unacceptable on multiple fronts. First, upon arrival, we found the sheets stained and the bathroom and shower in a disturbingly dirty condition. As if that wasn't bad enough, there was a wet spot on the floor which was both unpleasant and unsanitary. The problems didn't stop there. The hotel staff allowed the fire pit to remain on after hours, which encouraged other guests to stay outside yelling and singing well past midnight. This made it impossible for us to get any sleep. Our repeated calls to the front desk went unanswered, forcing my husband to get dressed and go downstairs to request that the guests be quieted. It was only when he mentioned he would confront the noisy guests himself that the staff offered to ask them to quiet down. The next day, we requested to be moved to a room away from the fire pit to ensure we could sleep, but the hotel was unable to accommodate us. They did allow us to check out early, but no discount or refund was offered for our disrupted stay and the inability to get any rest. The lack of cleanliness and the unhelpful attitude of the staff have significantly marred our view of this property. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel to others based on our recent experience.

David S.

Yelp
Best stay in Gardiner! Lots of great little touches: easy checkout, free coffee, free to borrow walking sticks and binoculars! Plus at the fire pits they had free s'mores kits ! Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Glenn S.

Yelp
A previous reviewer who stated that when she entered her room, it felt like she had re-entered 1984 pretty much sums up our experience. It didn't appear they had cleaned our room. Toothpaste stains in the sink area and on the mirror. Dirty sink. Update very much needed. One insulting feature is they charge a $15 a day amenities charge supposedly for the fantastic amenities they offer. Other than s'mores by the fire, I'm not sure what amenities they are referring to. Every hotel we've ever been to has a pool. So big deal. Woefully overpriced at over $300 a night. In any other location, this would be 100 to 150 a night maximum. Look elsewhere in Gardner. We are regretting we did not look into staying at one of the park accommodations.

Chanté L.

Yelp
This is a 2-3 star motel at 4 star prices. I visited during peak Yellowstone tourist season. Be sure to ask for a ground floor room as there is no elevator to the second floor. The front desk staff was quite accommodating. They offer free bear spray, hiking sticks, and a few other things to help you in the park. There is a huge fire pit in front which seemed to be a great gathering place for visitors. It is conveniently located on the main drag in Gardiner, and just down the street from the Roosevelt Arch. The Yellowstone river runs next to the parking lot and it is backed by majestic mountains. Restaurants and stores are within walking distance. This motel is perfectly fine if you just need a place to crash and shower between excursions to the park. It covers all the basic needs and it is clean, clean, CLEAN!

Yelp
We arrived in the area early but the rooms were not ready for early check-in so we checked out things around town and hit the grocery store to kill some time and come back for a 4pm check-in. We reserved a 2 queen room. The room was spacious and clean. The A/C worked well for the warmer temps we were having during our stay. The beds were comfy, there was a large tv, a small microwave, a decent size refrig and a single cup keurig coffee maker. They provided rainforest regular coffee k-cups, decaf breakfast blend k-cups, English breakfast tea k-cup, and sleepytime caffeine free k-cup options along with 1/2 & 1/2 cups instead of the powdered stuff. Plenty of cups, stir sticks, sugar packets available. The shower has prefilled shampoo, conditioner and shower gel available. They also have a walking stick and binoculars in the room that can be used during your stay. You are charged if they are not returned before check out. there is a nice lookout over the river, there is a nice seating area with a fire pit that is surrounded by a clear enclosure as a weather barrier yet still provides a view of the mountains. There is also a hot tub, indoor pool, game room area and a couple of saunas we did not check out during our stay. There was an ice machine & vending machine on each floor. The staff were all very courteous, kind and respectful. We had the do not disturb sign up but was able to bring our trash to the housekeepers and grab extra towels & coffee supplies as needed. Our stay was peaceful and enjoyable.

Debra R.

Yelp
The rooms weren't very clean and I unfortunately left a T-Shirt in the room that I bought in Sturgis and the maid took it, she never turned it into the office. The only good thing was the view.

Marje B.

Yelp
I booked because of distance from Yellowstone entrance, I also had booked a mountain view, but our room hardly any view. The hotel itself is showing its age, but its clean. Bed was comfy. Staff was friendly. Only stayed one night so didn't get a chance to use other amenities. Overall ok, pricey.

Frank T.

Yelp
Cynthia! Her reception! Hilarious and efficient. The guy who took the evening shift. He never stopped helping the travelers (like me) with incessant requests. Not that I am a demanding traveler - I just appreciated his go-getting-ness. Good room, on the river, casino next door (spin the giant wheel for a free drink), in-room coffee and real half&half. Count me in next time in town. And - 1/3 mile to Yellowstone North Entrance.

Arthur W.

Yelp
Surrounded by shops and food, close to the park entrance. Slept well bed was comfy. Shower works, AC works.

Michael G.

Yelp
Pretty bad hotel to stay in. Very outdated, stained carpet throughout, no elevator. Great little town, but on our first night my husband went in to take a shower and within 2 minutes he was standing in about 4 inches of water. We called the front desk, they did send a guy who had some drain cleaner, put that in and it helped, but by the third night the water was standing in the shower again. Bathroom sink is extremely low, if you're tall, you're screwed. The air conditioner/heater is very old and it smelled like a fire when we turned the heat on. Needs updating for sure and when you charge over $200. a night, breakfast, even a continental breakfast should be included, in my opinion.

Christi R.

Yelp
Our room on the river is perfect! Clean and comfortable w air conditioning. Friendly and helpful staff. It's hard to find upscale hotels, no Marriott's in Yellowstone, but we are happy w our reservation. Help-yourself breakfast with coffee, juice options, milk, and cereals. Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich and sweet rolls. Also, sodas and snack bars. Because of Covid, no housekeeping service, so we changed out towels and trash daily. The best part (and no other hotel or cabin has this), is listening to the river while falling asleep and waking up (Bldg 4). A small family of Elk visit daily. Restaurant options are limited in Gardiner.

Teresa M.

Yelp
We arrived for our 3 night stay around 11pm, just a few minutes after. Apparently shift change is at 11pm as we saw the night staff heading in as we pulled in. Upon entering, we weren't sure if the fellow working had a dry sense of humor or was genuinely irritated by us being there to check in. After a few minutes we determined that it was the latter of the two. He berated the staff he had replaced and went on for some time about the incompetence of the young people working there and their not doing anything to prep for arrivals. Awkward. On to the room: King Mountain View and the view was spectacular! We had an excellent view of the mountain and the river below. Each morning there will elk outside to greet us on our way to breakfast. The breakfast buffet is at the restaurant next door and was reviewed separately. I must confess the buildings are a bit sketchy looking outside, rustic, if you will. I can see how the exterior lights by the door could cause some problems with bugs getting into the rooms when the doors are opened. It was off season tho and we had no issues. Our pricing was reasonable at $140pn - off season. I'd say it's worth that for the view and the convenience- 5 min & we were in the park! Some aspects of the room appear modern, others need updating (especially carpet). Based on our interaction and other reviews, I'd say that staff could use a better understanding of customer service. As loyal diamond select BW customers (of 20+ yrs), we've never had such an uncomfortable check-in. We would stay again but have definitely had better experiences & nicer establishments.

Cujo S.

Yelp
This hotel in Gardiner has close, easy access to Yellowstone. The rooms were very clean and spacious, the beds were very comfortable and location was perfect. And the price was very reasonable We had a customer service issue that the manager (Avery) took ownership and addressed right away. Will stay here again!

LeAnn S.

Yelp
Love this place! I stay here every year in the winter as it's very convenient to the park. The staff is great the food is really good and the restaurant is really convenient after a long day in the park. Rooms are clean and comfy and have a great view of the river! See you guys next year

Dana B.

Yelp
Room was very clean, a little disappointed that they didn't have creamer or a continental breakfast for the cost of the rooms some thing should have been included! Nice view! Pool was warm, but hot tub was fair! No gym! Restaurant was expensive and Not very good food

Jay J.

Yelp
Older facility that is showing its age a bit. Lovely location right on the river. The staff was friendly and our checkin was quick. I liked that the room is larger than most for this price range especially the bathroom. Overall, not bad at all. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Mythu C.

Yelp
Staff is rude when we checked in, he looked like he rather be anywhere else than behind that desk. The hotel is by a river and it's beautiful during the day,but at night there were black flying bugs (bigger than fruit flies) everywhere on the ceiling. Difficult to sleep when bugs are flying around your head!!!

Dave H.

Yelp
This place has just recently changed ownership to Ridgeline. The staff at this hotel were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the Yellowstone River and elk grazing on the hillside beyond. They are service oriented! We forgot a personal pillow and when we called them a couple hours after leaving, they had already boxed it for FedEx and labeled it with our home address. They have a solid hot breakfast buffet and super friendly, helpful and welcoming restaurant staff! Did I mention the fresh baked cookies in the lobby?

Brian M.

Yelp
Food was terrible, service was pretty bad. Shuttle service provided by hotel was always late. Room was ok and view was great but not a very a good experience

J. R.

Yelp
I have reviewed this place a couple years ago. I am updating a little. My big complaint is still the same, WAY too expensive. For location, you canNOT get better than this (unless you stay inside Yellowstone). It is just about a 4 minute drive to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park (northern entrance). This is an old styled hotel - what I'd term "rustic". The rooms are nothing special, but they are definitely clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and very functional. The price is insane. I stayed in June, 2015, and paid $187 a night. This hotel is about an $85 hotel, certainly not $187. That being said ... I will continue to stay here when I'm not camping inside Yellowstone because it is so close and convenient. I moan and groan about the high pricetag, but that's life - no sense in complaining. Parking and wifi are free and there are several shops and restaurants that are walkable from the hotel. In fact, the entire town was walkable. With my room rate, I got a free breakfast at a restaurant next door. It was a breakfast buffet, but wasn't worth free. They ask you when you go in if you have the free coupon, and if you do, your service is very limited. We kept having to ask for water. Seriously, NOT worth even free. People ordering off the menu seemed to fare better than us. I'll stay here again and again. And, complain again and again. Bottom line: Clean, friendly at the checkin desk, comfy beds, and I loved the little lamp with the moose on it in my room. Cute!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Decent hotel located just outside the North Entrance of Yellowstone, in a really cute little town. This hotel is a couple miles into the town, an runs along the river, which is cool. A few steps away and you can hear the sounds of the river. It's so nice! Love that sound. Folks at reception desk are nice. Upon entering the room we were a little disappointed. The room is pretty old, and outdated. The carpet/drapes, etc seemed old, and I shuddered to take my shoes off. Beds were comfy though, which after walking all over Yellowstone is all that counts, I guess. The hotel has a pool/jacuzzi, although we didn't have time to use them. They also offer a hot buffet breakfast, which is awesome! If you walk up to the hotel, you get hot food, which i think is a nice added touch. And the folks at the restaurant were friendly, too. Overall we had a nice stay here, and yes, I'd still recommend it. It just needs some updating. It's seen better days, but it's still a fair to decent hotel.

Yelp
So let me tell you a little story about the BED BUG INFESTATION in the river view room that we stayed in tonight... I was abruptly woken up at 2:00 after my roommate used the rest room and inevitably found a bed bug crawling on his sweatshirt. At that point we both investigated further and found another one crawling in his bed so we squashed it. At that point it was an all out search warrant for these bed bugs as we turned on all the lights in the room to allow us to rip it apart only to find more bed bugs crawling on the wall. In total, we found 6 bed bugs crawling around and when we called the front desk, the receptionist told us that he could not do anything for us as the hotel was completely booked tonight. And honestly, he was extremely rude about the whole situation. The receptionist also shared a bit of information that I am positive this hotel will not be excited about, stating that people recently have been complaining about bed bugs being in their room in these river view rooms. He also tried to tell us that they were most likely river bugs, which I refuse to accept as an answer and I am outraged that would be his response to something like this. He refused to come evaluate the situation himself, and said that we will need to wait until the morning to speak with the hotel owner/manager. At that point, we picked up all of our clothing and then decided we needed to go speak to the front receptionist in person to rectify the situation. It was a young kid working the desk and I completely understand that this problem is not solely his fault, but more of the hotel owners neglecting to resolve the situation at hand since people HAVE ALREADY BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. He was yet again rude and did not help in any way. We then asked to use laundry room, and he said that he could open it up for us to use. We saw that there was a need for quarters and told the receptionist that we would not be paying to do our laundry seeing that the reason this situation even arose in the first place was because of the hotels continued ignorance to neglect the situation. He said that he could not do anything for us and when we told him that this hotel would be receiving yet another nasty yelp review, he told us that the hotel is privately owned, that he did not care and that the situation was not his problem which is complete blasphemy. REALLY??? I have never had a worse experience with a hotel receptionist in my life, it was an utterly useless exchange and only compounded how angry I was when those words came out of his mouth. Since he refused to give us quarters to use for the laundry room, this forced us to go roam around Gardiner at 3:00am to find a place where we could take out money to exchange for quarters, mind you everything is closed in this tiny town at 3:00am!! so that we could get change to do our laundry, especially after telling us we could not use the free laundry machines that are owned by the hotel. Additionally, he also refused to give us money in quarters to use the machines, although this will 1000% be getting comped by this hotel. I am not paying to have my laundry done when I wouldn't need to do it if our room didn't have bed bugs in the first place. I find this to be absolutely astonishing that a hotel company would refuse to resolve the situation after multiple people have complained about this issue. Not only are we low on money already with this road trip home (going back to New Hampshire), we paid $150 to stay in this hotel to have the service be absolutely atrocious. This is quite literally unbelievable with how poorly this was handled and I am floored that a hotel company such as the Best Western would not take care of this. Had my friend not woken up to use the rest room and found the bed bug on his being, we would be tracking these things all throughout the entire car the entire way home. Not only would that ruin thousands of dollars' worth of clothes, hiking gear, and everything else that is in the car, (moving home from San Diego) it would also ruin the upholstery in the car which would require the car to be detailed and ripped apart. The fact that we are not able to get a good night's sleep on a road trip such as this when sleep is essential with the long drives ahead of us is so aggravating and maddening I am floored. Who knows if the laundry will still even be salvaged, we have no way of knowing. I am absolutely furious that my worst fear with using a hotel just happened to me on this trip as this could quite literally ruin the entire trip home. FIX THIS ASAP!!!! This is absolutely disgusting!

Patty S.

Yelp
Hotel itself is fine, nice rooms, staff is great, price was good. Good location. Extremely disappointed with "breakfast ". We have traveled quite a bit in the last year and even with Covid restrictions we have always had the option of a hot breakfast. There wasn't even the option of dry cereal or toast. just packaged donuts, danish, etc. no juice. I'm sorry but there's no excuse for it. The other issue was with their restaurant . Again, I understand a limited menu but there were about four items, pretty expensive too. A side salad was $10! Sorry but don't think we'll be back.

Gaurav A.

Yelp
Main reason to book this hotel was to have indoor pool and when the kids were about to jump in, they realized that the water was too cold. Checked with maintenance guys and they said pool is Indoor but not heated. Sad faces of kids what I can see out of it. Rooms are ok and got a nice view room facing lake side.

Destinee F.

Yelp
The suite we stayed is very comfortable. It has a kitchen with full size fridge & stove. There is only one air conditioner but should be sufficient enough if turned in high setting. The washroom & powder room are very clean with nice big tub. Highly recommend!

Wade M.

Yelp
Very dated, No elevator. Rooms look and smell old. Internet is problematic. Booking says they have a restaurant, lounge, and casino. They do exist but not attached to hotel. Have to walk outside in the rain in the street to reach them. If a 1/2 star rating is available that is too high

Ashley G.

Yelp
The room was sprayed so heavily with air freshener, it was hard to breathe. The kids and I had raging headaches, runny noses and eyes were tearing up from it. I would've never of stayed there, but there was no rooms available. The prices are ridiculous here as well!

Jeremy S.

Yelp
I'll be honest, it's a rare day when I'm not happy with my experience at a Best Western establishment but then again even the sun shines on a dogs ass some days. This experience was less than stellar and I definitely won't be going back there again. First off while I was checking in one of the current guests came in to complain about how his entire one wall was covered in flies. The woman at the front desk says "It's because of the river, there is nothing we can really do about it." Then the other front desk guy says he'll be up in 30 minutes to vacuum them up. Excuse me, did you say there was nothing you could do about it? Customer service 101 lady....you do everything you can to fix a guests situation. Even worse is that this is obviously a known issue that has been occurring for awhile. They should be installing bug zappers or something. Once the night came you were confined to your room because the door was just covered by bugs like a blanket. This was awful! I spent most of my night sitting near the bathroom where I left one light on so I could kill them one by one. The room was clean and all, but WHO CARES!!! If I have to sleep with bugs all over me I don't give a freaking crap how clean the place is. Now lets talk about their free breakfast. This breakfast is over at the Yellowstone Mine gift shop and restaurant. Sounds excellent. EHHHHHH WRONG!!! This place was really crappy and they expected you to tip the woman who clears the tables when it was advertised as a free breakfast. Now, I don't mind tipping, but no one came in there with cash because they were not expecting to have to tip. The food was also just god awful. They had out sliced peaches that looked like they came from a really old can of peaches. The french toast made me gag and I couldn't wait to just get out of there. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I mean nobody deserves this place! I give the Best Western Plus by Mammoth Hot Springs 2 Doubledays. It would have gotten 1 but the GuestHouse Inn in Norcross, GA has set the bar for a 1 rating and this was definitely not GuestHouse Inn Norcross bad, but it was getting close.

Yelp
I don't remember much of my stay here. I was a bit under the influence, but from what I can remember: the bed was very comfy and it overlooks the river. I'm sure it looks beautiful in the daylight. There's a restaurant that serves a heavy breakfast right up a pathway. There's also a great bar next door to the restaurant. Everything is in walking distance, but then again this town is probably a block in length.

Yelp
We have stayed at many Best Westerns and have rarely had such a bad experience. I'm not a hotel snob by any means, but this time, I feel like we've been had. I should have kept my reservation in within Yellowstone Park in hindsight. Unfortunately for us, we paid more for a "suite" and got way less than a lot of other reviewers. We paid $250 +/- for a 2 queen suite with sofa bed and full kitchen. We asked reception if we could change rooms when we saw it was a little more than we needed for one night. We were told there was nothing they could do other than to downgrade us at the higher price. No thanks! Buyer beware when you book this hotel: 1. One queen and the sofa bed are in one room with a wall cooler that barely cools the area unless you're standing right in front of it. The other queen is in the kitchen area in a separate space with no A/C. So I figure no biggie, I'll open the window tonight and get some fresh air. It's Montana, right? Problem is, right by the window there's a light shining over a staircase that is being tramped up and down by the patrons of the bar right next door. Not exactly a stunning view either. 2. The sofa bed is in horrible condition. springs and wires detached under the mattress. Prayed my kid would make it through the night. 3. The shower is flat out gross. Mildew in the whirlpool jets (whirlpool bath doesn't even work) and in other parts of the shower. 4. Right below us in the rec room, no idea what was going on but someone was on a microphone well after midnight. 5. Another reviewer mentioned this too. The side entrance door in the front of the building is set so that it won't latch closed. Usually, you have to insert your room card to open a door, but this one stays unlocked to the interior of the hallways 24/7. Not cool considering our room was right at the top of the stairs. Buffet breakfast was at the adjoining restaurant and was not bad. French toast, eggs, sausage, yogurt, etc. Overall, I'd skip this BW. Very dark and dingy. Stay in West Yellowtone instead. If you do stay here, I'd reccomend that you make your reservation over the phone and request a river view. I think we got the short end of the stick because I booked online, IMO.

Yelp
Bed Bugs!!! Do not stay here! My family and I had a horrible experience staying at the Best Western by Mammoth Hot Springs in Gardiner MT. After our stay at the Best Western, we noticed that all of us had multiple bug bites all over our bodies. One of my sons appeared to be allergic to the bites and they swelled up (I have pictures if needed). I called the Hotel to let them know and spoke with Ravyn and she told me that I should send an email to management to explain the situation. She sent me the email address via text (yyrsafaris@gmail.com) and I sent them an email the same day (June 28th, 2019). I never received a response from Best Western so I sent a follow up email on July 1st 2019 (at 9:53am) hoping to get in contact with a manager and I even sent a text message to Ravyn (at 10:38am) to follow up with our complaint. Ravyn responded to my text message stating, "I will be back in to work tomorrow and I will see if I can have the assistant manager call you. I'm sorry you still haven't got a response, but I will do as much as I can to try and help you get what you need." I never received a call or email response from Best Western the next day, so I sent another follow up email on July 3rd, 2019 and also another text message to Ravyn. Ravyn responded via text again stating, "I know they are looking in to it but I'm not sure how long it will take before they respond." Then 5 hours later Ravyn sent me a text saying, "If you wouldn't mind calling the hotel so I can log your call and get your issue pushed forwards. I'm here right now so if you could call right now I can log your call." To me, this was a weird request that indicated that management thought that I never called the hotel with the complaint and just sent an email. Apparently, the issue wasn't even logged yet according to the text message. So I called Ravyn so she could "log" the call (which was the second time I called) and she stated management would get in contact with me soon. I never heard from anyone. After 2 days, I sent another follow up email on July 5th 2019. No one responded to the 3rd follow up so I sent another follow email and a text to Ravyn again on July 8th, 2019 asking if there was an update. She responded, "No I'm sorry, I don't the last I heard he was going to call you and I assumed it was handled. I would call the hotel and ask to speak with management directly." I called the Hotel for the 3rd time and finally reached the desk manager. The desk manager was of no help, and stated, "I assure you we don't have any bed bugs here at the hotel." That's all he was able to give me was his word that there wasn't any bugs in our room at the time. How would he even know, so I asked him if he could provide me any evidence that there aren't any bugs in the hotel, specifically in room 217 where we stayed, and he stated that he would send me the results of the last inspection they had showing they were bug free. Of course, as expected, I NEVER received anything from the Hotel. I explained that this was unacceptable and that I would be left with no choice but to escalate higher up and he stated "you do what you need to do." I don't understand how he could be in management and treat his customers this way. This issue is still UNRESOLVED. They have ignored us, took our money and provided a horrible experience in return. Management never responded to my emails, not once. What a joke. All I wanted was to be reimbursed for our stay because after our stay, we had to put all of our clothes in plastic bags and spend hours at a laundry mat washing and drying our clothes multiple times to ensure we killed off the bed bugs or whatever bugs that bit us the night before. We had to vacuum the car as well because we didn't want to bring anything back with us to our home and have our home infested with bugs as well. This took time and money to fix the issue on our end and we wanted Best Western to at least acknowledge our existence. They took our money quickly, but have yet to even care about our issue we had at their hotel. Avoid at all costs!

Yelp
Friendly staff, nice room, nice pool/hot tub, convenient location, best included breakfast I've had in a long time. Room & rest of hotel was clean & well-maintained. Winter time trek from hotel to breakfast would be cold as the adjacent restaurant is where it's served. Buffet breakfast with eggs, bacon (lots of it), biscuits & gravy, hash brown casserole, French toast, fruit, pastries, toast, juices and more. They have a nice selection for dinner too. Friendly staff at restaurant. Issues: faucet at sink in room was too close to the backsplash which made the water very close to the edge of where the counter meets the sink so you have to turn the water on full to really use it. The tub/shower creaked likely due to insufficient support. The non-slip treads in the tub are spaced too far apart so one could slip easily if they aren't careful. The heater/AC unit comes on then comes on fully. Didn't cause sleeping issues but was slightly annoying. Limited channels on the TV but hey, you are there for Yellowstone so who needs TV. The door to the hallway from outside did not lock even though there was a card reader next to it. Usually there's a sign indicating using your room card after certain times but not a sign was seen. Being a locksmith my opinion is that the exit device solenoid failed so they removed the strike to keep it unlocked instead of repairing it but they should really fix that for the safety of their guests. One of few hotels that allows you to leave your pet in your room as long as you notify the front desk. This was useful so we could both enjoy the pool/hot tub at the same time.

Yelp
Room was clean and met standard best western quality. I did not get an opportunity to try the complimentary breakfast at the restaurant next door. Stayed one night and did not use any amenities (e.g. pool). Would probably return.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the exterior. It's not going to be perfect when they have the winters that they get in this area. We had a very pleasant interaction with staff, who called our room within 15 minutes to check on us. Our room was lower level with balcony overlooking the river and the park-gorgeous, gorgeous. The internet was spotty in our building but hey-I'm not supposed to work on vacation anyway. The hotel pool was COLD and crowded but the kids didn't care. It was clean enough for me and good after a day of hiking Yellowstone. Included breakfast buffet was way better than you usually get with a hotel room. The very-frazzled waitress was still quite efficient. Walking distance to the best pizza joint in Gardiner, plus shops and bar. Would absolutely stay here again. Way better than staying in West Yellowstone-this is less tourist-vibe and more river-rafting-vibe.

Yelp
Best western gardiner mt Way better than expected. The room was clean and the property sat right on the banks if the Yellowstone river. Our room overlooked the river. Gorgeous! The staff was friendly and helpful upon check in. Thank you! The breakfast, however... Was pretty bad. Buffet pans of strange mashed potato-hash browns, the ever dingy, flavorless/flat biscuits and gravy, yuck. Providing less options with quality fresh ingredients could be so much better!!

Yelp
This is a very convenient hotel for those looking for lodging adjacent to Yellowstone (on the North side). The rooms are average in size with nice, large king beds. The decor is simple but has conveniences like a microwave and sizable fridge, both fairly new. The shower in my room also appeared to have been recently updated. There are also nice vistas from the rooms. Plus, the property has a number of overlooks with benches/hammocks/etc. to take it all in. My one gripe is that there were too many little gnats/flies all around that snuck into my room. But nothing scary, trust me. If you're looking for luxury, you won't find it here - but then again, I don't think you'll find anyplace that suits your needs in this area if that's your goal!

Yelp
I'll give this place two stars for location and the nice bathroom in the lobby. That's about all I can say in its favor. First, we rolled up around 90 minutes before check-in time with a screaming, tired toddler and a dog, hoping they could let us take our room a little early. No dice. On top of that, I had specifically requested a first floor room when I booked over three weeks ago. We're driving cross-country and, with two kids and a dog, have a ton of stuff I didn't want to shlep upstairs. They switched us to a first floor room, but rather than get a nice room for our trouble, they stick us in a back room with a window facing a wall and with cabins from the adjacent property looking right down into our room. With that being the case, you would assume they would pay special attention to the window coverings, right? Nope. The solid curtains DON'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY. Not because they're broken ... that's how they are designed. I'm serious. Who designs curtains to only close halfway?!? So all that's between us and people in cabins above looking down in is a sheer. Add to this that the carpet is from the 70s and it smells like a dog pooped all over the place ... well, just spare yourself the misery.

Yelp
What a dump! Our room cost over $300 per night, we looked out at s block wall, the air conditioner worked only minimally. Our bed wasn't made by the cleaning staff, and they left the room open! Yikes! Never again!

Yelp
I stayed here for two nights with $300+ a night just to be closer to Yellowstone National park. We checked in on Saturday late night and got a riverview room. The room view is awesome and the bed size is fair. The problem is the bed spring box was setup up side down so the bed collapsed at night and I was not able to get any sleep at all. In the morning I complained and they were able to fix it right away and they have mentioned to me that I should be the person who let them know as early as possible. I thought the bed was as is and have never thought of the spring box was setup up side down. It's so sad that I am the one who should mention their problem but not having a room ready by the time I check in. I feel like I'm paying for a room that is on the side of a highway but as of the location, it charging me 10x the value. They understand my situation in the morning and I have asked respond from General manager or front office in charge but then the night staff have no idea what I am talking about even though it involved more than 5 people came into my room in the morning to find out what was the problem with the bed. I guess I will rather stay in the camp ground than having a muscle pain on my neck and back. There are many other hotels around this area and this is certainly not the one I will recommend. I'm one of the unlucky one and I hope you don't experience the same as I do.

Yelp
Aside from the price (which was outrageous), this was a perfectly fine hotel. It's not the most updated in terms of style or decor, but we were only there for one night and it didn't bother us. The breakfast was pretty good and we got a good night's sleep.

Yelp
Hotel room was clean. Some of the other reviews complained about flying insects. At night there are flying insects outside that are attracted to the light right outside our door. Knowing that others complained about them getting into their room, we made a point of quickly entering our room at night. So we did not have a problem with them getting into our room. I did see one on our wall but we left him alone and he left us alone. The breakfast is located in a restaurant on the street close to the hotel. The food was just ok. Their was the typical scrambled eggs in a pan that you scoop out with a spoon, French toast, sausage links, gravy and biscuits, cereals, mixed fruit, casserole with egg, bread and ham, yogurt etc... What they did not have was bananas, apples or oranges or yogurt in individual containers. We like to take a piece of fresh fruit and/or yogurt for later but could not do this here. According to the book in the room, breakfast is at 7 am however the restaurant opens at 6:30am. for hotel guests. Also there is coffee in the hotel conference room at 5:30 am for those that are early risers like me. We did not see the pool.

Yelp
Unbeatable. River right outside room. It is ok physical plant, but not here to stay in room. This is frontier town and the accommodation fit in perfectly. Absolutely would stay again. Ask for room in 400 building, lower floors have balcony right on river

Yelp
Great view of the mountains from the room. Comfortable. Serves breakfast that was pretty good next door as part of the hotel stay. Rooms were clean. Check in and check out went smoothly.

Yelp
Clean enough - friendly enough but seemed to be not putting anymore money in it than necessary. Hot tub was down something mechanical - ice maker being repaired in morning. Rooms view was a block wall 3' away not huge deal but kinda disappointing. Had to get towels from front desk for pool they didn't have them available at pool. Location easy to find short drive from Yellowstone. The breakfast was a Buffett at restaurant next door was friendly hot and my picky eaters all found food! Over all for the price (pushing $300) kind of a disappointment on upkeep and condition but was clean beds comfortable and not a bad stay on our vacation.

Yelp
The Best Western in Gardiner, MT was a good place to stop. It is right outside the Roosevelt Arch at Yellowstone. It had an indoor pool for the kids. The rooms were older so there weren't many places to plug in electronics, but they were clean and nice. Breakfast was served in the restaurant next to the hotel. They had scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, pastries and more. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even had fresh baked cookies in the lobby.

Yelp
Basically the motel was Ok. Had prepaid reservations for two nights. The reason for the one-star rating is that we had an upstairs room and there was no lighting in or on or near the stairs. The entire exterior of the upstairs balcony was also unlighted. Dangerous to say the least. Complained the next morning to management and was told that a breaker had tripped and that they had called an electrician. The next night no repairs the same thing. WiFi was also spotty. Also read my posted comment about the adjacent restaurant below. Skipped breakfast entirely the next morning and went down the road. Stayed at the Best Western Motel, next to the Yellowstone Restaurant, which came with breakfast. Must say no menu, buffet only food was OK, but nothing to rave about. The reason for the 1-star rating is that I had to sort through several dishes in a stack to find a clean one. The utensils were greasy also, couldn't believe it.
