The Rim Resort Chiang Mai

Never regretted choosing to spend our 5 nights at The Rim Chiangmai. It’s a boutique hotel with only 33 rooms, outdoor pool and a very small gym. We booked 2 superior deluxe room, and be allocated side by side. The room is very spacious (one of the reasons we chose this hotel). The balcony is facing to the swimming pool which offered a very good view and I enjoyed my reading there a lot. The hotel atmosphere is very calm and pleasant. It’s at the edge of the old town, but walking distance to all other tourist destinations while away from the hustle and bustle of the old town. Their hospitality is on another level. The staff are super friendly and helpful, always put on smile when they see you. They gave advices on what to do and even went extra mile to make reservations and making sure we’re okay. Each room comes with one free afternoon tea set and two drink vouchers. The snack corner at the lobby always stock up with local tidbits, and they provide free shuttle service to the airport when we departed.

Starting to show its age. Hotel is fine, rooms are ok but some maintenance and updating is required. The shower for instance would either run hot or cold and worse still it would go cold all of a sudden and then you wait for it to get hot again - very frustrating. It was not an issue in my room as I spoke to friends about it and they suffered the same issue. It was not because many people were showering at the same time; it can happen at 6am or 2 pm or later. Check that the door on the balcony is properly locked as the doors do not alight when closed and you may think they are locked but are not.|The hotel is on the quieter side of Chiang Mai, west of the old town where all the restaurants, big markets etc are on the east side. That is not an issue as transport is easy. The restaurants close to the hotel on the main road are Shabu restaurants - OK if that is your style. There is a good Japanese restaurant opposite the side gate of the hotel next to a useful laundry lady! |All the staff are friendly displaying the typical Thai welcome which is very nice but the service at the bar near the pool could be a bit more pro-active. For one, you have to go to the bar to order your drink, they do not come to you. The staff in the bar should also make it a habit to wipe down tables and clear glasses, plates without being asked.|The breakfast is basic but there is enough to satisfy your morning urges.|I found that the hotel fell short of the standard I expected with their high room rates.

Very peaceful, small hotel in the old town away from the busy modern area’s. all the staff were lovely. Bedroom huge, bathroom huge and clean. Property could do with some maintenance around the pool area - the decking in particular. Otherwise it’s a charming property. They offer free shuttle to the airport and night market. Breakfast is adequate. Would stay again if in Chiang Mai.

If you're ever in Chiang Mai this is a great place to stay. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful they always go out of their way to try and fulfill any request like shuttles to airport or markets, even extra blankets. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast they offer has a good mix of Thai and western options. The location is perfectly central to anything you want to do. Great place, great people and a great experience. Would love to stay here again. 5 stars.

What a delightful resort! My partner and I stayed here for four nights during our tour of Thailand in November 2025, and we had an incredible stay. Our stay took place during Loy Krathong, and within an hour of arriving at The Rim we were already warmly welcomed, shown around the resort, greeted with a complimentary krathong, cocktail,l and snacks, and taught how to make paper lanterns. It was a lovely experience learning to make the lanterns, and the staff is so attentive and friendly. We especially loved the daily breakfasts and even enjoyed a delicious dinner at the resort restaurant. The room was incredibly spacious with a big balcony and large bathroom with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The pool and hotel grounds were peaceful and lovely, but we didn’t get a chance to swim because the weather was a little too cool. Its location in the historic district was wonderful as we were able to walk to several places, and even took advantage of the hotel's bike rentals for further exploration. The staff is top-notch! They were very helpful with our laundry, provided support in calling a taxi when we were stuck without one, and always made us feel like we didn’t have a worry in the world. Lastly, the hotel is beautifully designed and makes you feel like you are in a world of your own. I highly recommend The Rim and will always look to is as one of the best options for hotel accommodations in Chiang Mai. Thank you for an incredible stay!

We really appreciated the welcome afternoon sweets, which we enjoyed by the pool. Breakfast was also excellent—gentle, well-balanced Thai dishes that were very delicious. The room was clean and well maintained. We stayed in late December and hardly noticed any insects. A free shuttle bus to the night market departs from the hotel at 7:00 p.m., but same-day reservations are required. Since there are very few dining options nearby in the evening (basically only Thai-style hot pot), we recommend having dinner at the night market.

The Rim was a perfect place to stay in the Old City area. Staff is absolutely wonderful. Polite and ready to assist you. Provided to go coffee and breakfast when we had early morning excursions. Breakfast buffet phenomenal. Great drinks including mocktails at pool bar. Highly recommend!

Staff are helpful and patient in general. Good variety for breakfast. I stayed for 3 nights and did not find the selection stale. Location is good - good cafes around such as Matchi Matchi and London.CNX. Room was spacious. The shower is lousy - the temperature swings from hot to cold constantly which is a pain and dangerous too. When it’s hot it can be very hot, so you have to be careful about the extent you adjust it to. I think showers took 10 mins longer due to having to wait out these fluctuations in temperature. Quite a waste of time. Would not stay there again for this reason. Another thing that was regretfully managed was the complimentary welcome Thai amenity which is some high tea equivalent. It was not written on the voucher that it could not be redeemed on Christmas eve as the restaurant was closed after breakfast that day. There was also no sign at the restaurant to indicate that it would be closed. The staff who presented the voucher to me at check in did not say anything either. It was a disappointment to find out on the day itself.
