This hotel is a hidden gem. Arriving in Chiang Mai for the first time we knew we wanted to stay in the old city but had no idea where to select. The Rim was a random selection but ended up being a blessing. While the rooms are a bit dated, the service, friendliness of the staff, the extensive breakfast buffet and the prompt attention given to guest is unmatched. We were able to walk to any destination we wanted in the old city. Near the hotel we found favorite restaurants, massage therapist and a place for manicures and pedicures. The businesses were local so the cost was much less than the five star locations. We left the old city for a few days and upon our return initially decided to try another hotel. As we thought about it and researched, we could not find anywhere which compared and provided as much value for cost. The staff took time to get to know the guest and each morning at breakfast they knew our normal breakfast requests. We did fell like a part of The Rim’s family. The front desk staff is always ready to assist in any matter and provide excellent recommendations. Their recommendations saved us much time and expense. All staff members made us feel special and part of the family. I can’t close without mentioning one staff member who stuck out even more than the excellent professionals. Art, the front desk manager always went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. I called front desk with a room issue and Art personally came to my room to ensure my room issue was resolved. All of this happened 15 minutes before he was due to finish his work time. When I thanked him he told me we were family and he had to take good care of us. You can not pay for this kind of attention and service. Any time I am in Chiang Mai I will be back at The Rim where I am considered family. Thank you all.

Unfortunately we lost one night here due to a delayed flight. |The staff was very welcoming and helpful. |The location was good, on the "right" side of the city coming from the airport, near Nimman, and also walking distance into the old part of town.|The room was nice, spacious and comfortable.|Breakfast was good, tasty things from a set menu as well as a decent buffet.|Maybe not a luxury stay, but definitely recommended, good value for the money.

This is a really cute safe clean and friendly hotel. Welcome drink on arrival. Free sweet snacks in reception each day. Free bikes for 3 hours or just a couple of pounds if you want the bike all day. Clean pretty little swimming pool with a few sunbeds but only a couple in the sun all day. Shady bar area with a happy hour. Fantastic breakfasts, great choices. Next door is a small general store and a laundry. The hotel is within 5-10 minutes walk to several restaurants. This area is quiet and authentic, it's not the bright lights of the main market area but the hotel offers a free shuttle to that area if you like. Our ground floor room was large which a huge comfortable bed. Good shower. The lighting could be brighter in the room. Tea/coffee making. Our TV had access to Netflix etc. The staff are all lovely

This is a spectacular hotel. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We stayed here for a week and enjoyed every moment of our staff. The beds were comfortable and I really enjoyed our terrace on the garden. I also spent a couple hours around the pool lounging. The pool is quite cold. The hotel is in the Thai style which just adds to the entire experience.

This is a very lovely hotel. I would stay again. The rooms are cleaned very well, bed comfy, and the bathrooms are amazing. The showers have a very neat design. Over all, a very comfortable stay! The staff are all professional and provided fast service. Everyone is smiling all the time, I did not get the impression of forced smiles, it seemed like everyone enjoyed working there and they are very welcoming. The only thing that I noticed was a bit off was the design of the balconies being right next to the chairs by the pool. I would say not exactly Feng shui for those that like a little more personal space, but It is in Old City so it is understandable but for me seemed a little intimate to be so close to other visitors and honeymooners smooching in the pool area.. but not a big deal. It is a beautiful place with beautiful people...I would stay again.

The Rim Resort is a boutique hotel on the western edge of the Old City. It's within a reasonably short walking distance of several temples, markets, cafes and eateries of different types. Tuk tuk are also plentiful and cheap. The service, facilities and staff is excellent, the rooms spacious and very pleasant. There is virtually no road noise despite it's situation close to the main road.|Breakfast is excellent.|We stayed on two occasions with a trip to Chiang Rai in the middle. Would have no hesitation in staying again

We absolutely loved this charming hotel, we stayed 3 nights here during our family hop around Thailand, this is the place that i wish we stayed for longer . If you are looking for a traditional style hotel, The Rim is the one. It has such a peaceful and relaxed vibe about it. The staff were so lovely, always smiling, the complimentary shuttle to night market is a bonus!
