This hotel is not worth the amount I paid to stay here in a premium room with views. It's all bells and whistles, and the basics were a miss:
The biggest negative is the parking situation. It's $22/night + tax for self-parking! The hotel is up a hill and you need keycard entry, so it's not like there's risk of anyone parking there if they're not staying at the hotel. I think it's unreasonable to charge (and so much) for guests to be able to park their car while staying at the Rimrock! Additionally, the self-parking situation was not great. The first night I checked in, it was 8:30pm, and the entire lot was full. And when you get to the end of the lot, it's nearly impossible to turn back around to reverse out of the structure - very claustrophobic. I was about to drive back to the front to request complimentary valet parking ($36/night) due to the lack of self parking spots when someone left their spot and I was able to park.
Another baffling scenario. During one of my hikes, I broke a nail. At most hotels I usually stay, especially ones at this price range and with a Spa that offers manicures/pedicures, I would be able to get a disposable nail filer from housekeeping/front desk. I called housekeeping, and they just told me that it was not something they had. Fine. Then, I went down to the Spa to ask, since I figure they'd be closer to their services. There was no one working there. I waited for about 15 mins, when another staff member showed up and asked ME if anyone was working there. I don't know! Looked like he was a manager and looking for the same missing staffer. I ended up asking him for a nail filer and he directed me upstairs to concierge. I went upstairs and asked, and they seemed unsure but agreed to go check and was able give a nail filer (in the usual hotel packaging including cotton balls and q-tips). Not sure why I needed to run all around the hotel to request a fairly common necessity.
Additionally, during our stay, it was cold. Well below freezing at night/early mornings, and hovered around freezing during the day. Each day my family and I craved a hot shower; however, the water never really got really hot. It was warm at most, and then didn't consistently stay warm. If I was shampooing my hair, by the time I needed to rinse, the water would oscillate to cold and I would need to wait for it to get warm again. Showering was a pain because of this.
Lastly, after checking out, we headed to the airport. Once at my gate, I realized that I may have forgotten my prescription glasses in the room (I was wearing my contacts). I called the hotel, and the front desk forwarded me to housekeeping where no one picked up. I was able to leave a message though, so I did with a number to return my call to verify if anyone was able to find my glasses or not upon making up the room. No one ever returned my call.
Also, I didn't see anywhere where you could easily refill your water bottle; likely because the hotel would rather you pay the $4-5 to buy one in the room. And the breakfast buffet is $32pp.
For over $300/night at this hotel, supposedly touting "resort" status, I'm extremely disappointed in the moments in my stay where I needed service. I would not recommend this hotel to others, and unfortunately, do not plan to stay here again in the future.
On the positive side, the room itself was roomy, clean and pretty comfortable. Location was convenient.
