My stay at the Ritz-Carlton was certainly beyond expectations. The hotel boasts stunning 360 degree views of the whole city of Melbourne, complimented with glamorous yet modern architecture and design. My room, (a corner premier double room) was spacious and well equipped. The facilities of the hotel are excellent, featuring a comprehensive gym, stunning (but less practical) pool, and well appointed changing and spa facilities. Service was generally good, with the only drawback being the doormen and concierge, who never helped us with luggage, nor showed us the way to the lobby, and occasionally didn’t greet us at all. This level of service was extremely disappointing and outshined by even some premium hotels I have stayed at. However, this was compensated by the extremely attentive and proactive lobby, restaurant, and housekeeping staff. In particular, a staff member who was usually positioned outside the elevators (upstairs and downstairs), frequently greeted us by name and assisted any queries thoroughly. Her attitude and professionalism was truly what made up for the generally excellent service received from the hotel. Dining was as expected, with breakfast being above average, featuring a semi-buffet service, which complimented the ordered main dishes sublimely. The in room dining menu was comprehensive, and overall quality of food was great, although portions were small even for a hotel of this calibre.
Overall, my stay at The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne was enjoyable, and I would happily return if the opportunity came.
