"The island of Okinawa has long been a favorite beach and golf getaway destination for the Japanese, and the Ritz-Carlton opened their first luxury resort in the country here in 2013, blending island style with the hotel brand’s warm opulence. Sip a Sima cocktail, made with Okinawan Amawori liquor and Shikwasa citrus fruit, or listen to live music played on the three-stringed Sanshin at dinner at the hotel’s signature Gosuku ("castle" in local dialect) restaurant. Fine dining at the property includes classic Italian and teppaynaki steak (grilled on an iron pan), with afternoon tea served in the lobby lounge and snacks in the library and seasonal pool bar. Rooms have large terraces and panoramic windows that overlook the East China Sea or golf course greens, and spa treatment roomsenjoy forest and bay views. While not directly seaside, a short shuttle ride can whisk guests away to the resort’s private beach."

"For too many visitors, Japan means Tokyo: packed trains, the neon lights at Shibuya crossing, and a hotel in the top of some skyscraper. But if you want to properly experience Japan, you’ve got to get out to the country. Take Okinawa for example — this is wild, wide-open country, and in the island’s north, surrounded by ancient forests and overlooking the waters of Nago Bay, sits the Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa." - Tablet Hotels

We had such a wonderful honeymoon here, from reception to check out everything went smoothly. The shuttle to the beach was very nice and the golf course was hard but fun. Might be a little expensive for golf but it is what it is, guess you’re paying for the location. We had dinner at each of the restaurants and they were all excellent, Chika helped us both times at each restaurant and was so nice and even offered to show us cool things to do around town! Only thing I could criticize is that the breakfast was ok, not what I expected from a 5 star hotel, but other than that most excellent.

Absolutely the best hotel experience I've ever had, hands down!!! Service was stellar, rooms = incredible, it's going to be hard to compare. Food was absolutely delicious and they have so many different kinds of cousine from around the world, all of it 5 star! The breakfast, forget about it, meaning it was the best breakfast buffet I've ever had! the people are so friendly and professional! Especially chef Lorenzo's gazpacho! I strongly suggest spending a few extra shillings to stay here!

• Stunning Views and Serene Setting: The hotel is built on a hill overlooking Nago Bay and is surrounded by the Kise Country Club golf course and lush gardens. The design emphasizes tranquility, with open-air hallways, water elements, and a calm atmosphere.||• Dining: The food is highly rated, particularly the Kise Teppanyaki restaurant for its superb Okinawan Wagyu beef, and the luxury breakfast buffet featuring local delicacies.||• The Spa: The dedicated spa building is described as a peaceful sanctuary, offering treatments using indigenous Okinawan ingredients.||• Complimentary Shuttle Service: While not directly on the beach, the hotel offers a complimentary driver service to nearby attractions, beaches (including the hotel's own area at Kise Beach), and local restaurants.||||most highly recommended for couples, golf enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a secluded, quiet, and service-focused retreat in Northern Okinawa.

Our third stay at the Ritz Okinawa was nothing short of awesome. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with warm intuitive service that defines true luxury. The staff here are exceptional. They're genuine, attentive, and passionate about making your stay perfect. A sincere thank you to Mathieu from the Club Lounge, Ashok at the Bell Desk, Kei from Gusuku, the team at Kise restaurant, and Akari at the Front Desk. Each of them brought their own unique charm and hospitality that elevated our experience. The newly remodeled rooms are a perfect blend of comfort and traditional Okinawan style. Thoughtful touches, rich textures, and a calming palette make the space feel both luxurious and rooted in place. The design of the hotel as a whole reflects a deep appreciation for Okinawan heritage: timeless, serene, and deeply connected to its environment, yet undeniably unique within the portfolio. The pool area is tranquil and beautifully maintained, ideal for a relaxing day in the sun. Dining throughout the property was superb.||||A true highlight of the stay was the spa, easily one of the best I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. The serene atmosphere, world-class treatments, and highly skilled therapists make it a sanctuary of wellness and relaxation. It’s an experience I would travel back for alone. One more gem worth noting is the hotel’s gift shop. It’s beautifully curated with local goods, crafts, and souvenirs that you won’t find anywhere else, thoughtful, stylish, and deeply tied to Okinawa’s cultural richness. I love the rope bracelets and Okinawan Ritz lions. If you’re seeking an experience that combines refined luxury, heartfelt service, and a profound sense of place, The Ritz Okinawa delivers on every level.

A superb and relaxing weekend. Had the "Club Experience" and was wowed by the attentiveness of all of the staff. The chef made a special effort to accommodate allergies and food sensitivities. The highlight of the visit was the superb Okinawan teppanyaki chef at the Kise|restaurant. The chef far exceeded my wildest expectations with the melt-in-your-mouth Okinawan Kuroge Wagyu Beef. The reputation that KISE has for the best black Okinawan Wagyu Beef is well deserved. The long drive from the airport is worth this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The most exceptional hotel stay anybody could ever dream of. All the ladies and gentlemen of the Ritz Carlton Okinawa deserve the highest praise. The property is impeccable, the amenities and activities provided? Stellar. You feel like you are immersed by water, nature, tranquility, elegance, and the most incredible people. Exceptionally thoughtful touches to every aspect of the Ritz Carlton Okinawa. Best hotel I have ever stayed at by far!

The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa is a prime example of true luxury and world-class service. From the minute that we entered the hotel, we were met with warmth, kindness, and supreme hospitality. ||The check-in process was a breeze and we were both provided lovely welcome drinks to kick off our 5 year anniversary. Having just travelled from the airport, it was nice to be taken care of so well immediately. ||Overall, the property is impeccably maintained and luxurious. The hotel grounds are tastefully appointed, clean, and whisper (not scream) luxury with ornate and timeless art and décor. However, the staff members are the true gems of The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa. ||Everyone that we spoke to (in particular, Maya from Gusuku during breakfast who went above and beyond to provide us exceptional service and Wes - I hope I translated correctly - from Housekeeping) truly embodied The Ritz-Carlton pinnacle of service. I would also love to spotlight the kind lady who was maintaining the lobby floor and cleaning the windows, she was absolutely a gem to say hello to, although I did not get her name. ||ROOM: We were located on the 4th Floor and had a beautiful view of the grounds and Okinawa; the room was immaculate, had every single item imaginable that we could need during our stay, and most importantly - comfortable! We had already been in Japan for about 2 weeks as this point, but my most relaxing sleep was during our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa!||AMENITIES: I spent my time at the pool during our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa. It felt like an oasis in the midst of a heatwave, and after braving a few rainy days, I truly loved being in the sun. Additionally, the grounds leading up to the spa and gym are a wonderful adventure. Although the gym equipment could be modernized a bit, it still proved useful during our stay. We also took advantage of the complimentary yoga classes offered by the hotel and loved them both! The instructors were pleasant, patient, and truly wonderful.||Overall, the highlight of our 3 weeks in Japan had to be The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa. However, if I may, I would like to politely provide some feedback regarding potential guidelines for other guests - our first night at The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa was soured a bit due to some loud guests who were yelling and using their phones on speakerphone. This was the only time that the magic of The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa was a bit shattered, but the rest of our stay proved to be absolutely magnificent.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife at the end of a three week tour around Japan for our honeymoon. Staff made us feel so welcome from the beginning with a lovely glass of champagne and many congrats from staff members. Our check in was delayed by an hour but the room manager invited us to enjoy a complimentary drink as we waited in the bar, which made up for it. The hotel room we stayed in was one of the nicest I’ve stayed in, with ample space and salubrious and comfortable furnishings. We enjoyed a gorgeous massage which I would recommend people add to their booking. The only ‘constructive’ comment I would add is that some of the more basic food and drink can be quite expensive.

Yelp
This stay was stressful, disappointing, and not enjoyable. I don't understand why I was treated so poorly at this location.

Yelp
The Ritz Carlton is the only 5 star hotel in Okinawa, so I did not hesitate to book here despite past inconsistent Ritz experiences. The property is located on a golf course with a beautiful view of the ocean. The lobby and guest room areas are modern elegance with distinctly Japanese design features. I loved the calming ambiance, shallow accent pools, and palatial ceilings. Unfortunately, I was annoyed by the time we checked in. We were the only guests there, and the process still somehow took 30 minutes. The concierge kept trying to sell me things, from spa packages to Marriott/Ritz credit cards. When we finally got into the room, I noticed our "King Bed" was just two full size beds pushed together. I double checked the reservation details on my phone, and I had indeed booked a King Bed room. I called guest services to ask if we could be moved, to which they replied "no, so sorry, all of our true King Bed rooms are sold out". The next morning, we ordered room service, which took over 1 hour to be delivered. The "Two Egg Breakfast" comically came with just 1 egg. I ate the pastries and coffee which were nice, but certainly not worth ¥4500 ($45 USD). The manager was nice enough to comp the meal. One day, we returned to the hotel at 6pm after being out all day since 10am, to find the room a mess. We had clearly selected the "make up room" button, but housekeeping never came through. Staff were extremely apologetic, but we had to sit in the lobby for an hour while they cleaned the room. The best facility and highlight of my stay was the spa, which I highly recommend on its own. I got a scalp treatment-a 1 hour and 30 minute service including an incredible massage, honey hair mask, and soak in a deep Japanese bath surrounded by trees and flowers. All of the products smelled incredible and left me feeling relaxed and renewed. In conclusion, if I am paying 5 star prices, I expect 5 star service and amenities, and the Ritz Carlton Okinawa struggled to achieve both on multiple occasions. I regret not staying a few miles away at the Intercontinental Manza Beach Resort.

Yelp
We recently had the privilege of staying at the Ritz in Okinawa. It was situated conveniently in the middle between Naha and the other end of the island where the aquarium is etc so you can access both sides in less than an hour. The hotel setting was up on a hill with the ocean in the distance, tastefully decorated with modern as well as traditional Japanese touches. Our room was luxurious with an ample space dedicated to bathroom and a balcony with an ocean view. All the restaurants were quite good as well as the room service items we ordered (including an amazing spread for breakfast every morning). The service was impeccable with great care given to meet out every needs (examples include accommodating our children's needs, a free pocket wifi, and offering a cellphone to take to the beach with us so we could call hotel to get our ride back). The concierge was also very helpful through email setting up various activities, rental car, etc in the weeks leading up to our stay. The hotel is not right next to the beach but Busena Beach is about a five minute shuttle ride away with a beauty sandy beach and clear blue waters. There is also a glass bottom boat ride and underwater tower to observe fish there. The beach was closed to swimming in the winter months when we where there but our son was able to play on the beach and next to the ocean. Upside to visiting Okinawa in the winter though is there is whale watching in the winter and cherry blossoms come in January. Our family had a wonderful time at the Ritz and will return again next time we are in Okinawa.

Yelp
Came here for an amazing tea time. My friend got the Ryukyuan special but it has a lot more savory then sweet options. The regular tea time is more fun if you are looking for the delicious cakes and scones you hope for. The desserts are better than the scones and the presentation is very pretty. Parking is easy, underground and they'll valet your car up to the top when you leave. The grounds are very pretty but keep the little ones close by since there's a lot of open water- pools and fountains that are easy to fall into.

Yelp
I've travelled across the world and stayed at some truly luxurious properties (St. Regis Deer Valley, St. Regis Atlanta, St. Regis KL, grosvenor house, etc...) but this property ranks right up there with them. Located in an exclusive part of Okinawa next to pristine white sand beaches, beautiful ocean, and well-groomed golf courses, the hotel takes a while to get to from Naha but it's well worth the trip (~1.5 hours). First thing you notice is you have to drive up a path from the main road - the hotel is not on the ocean, but on some hills overlooking the ocean. Parking is available underneath the lobby and should have plenty of parking spots. We got there pretty late at night (and it was off-season) so the hotel was pretty empty but that didn't stop the service staff to run over and steal (well - very politely insist on taking my luggage from me) and get it ready to take it to my room. The front-desk check-in was standard Japanese inefficient, but very nice (although their english could use some work as I asked about upgrades and breakfast). The hotel itself is AMAZING. There's a beautiful outdoor infinity pool with plenty of comfortable chairs around (Even better if you get a room with a room that leads right to it). Plenty of water features around the main lobby and the various restaurants (it's extra pretty at night with all the lights, but just as beautiful during the day). Opening all the windows lets in a great breeze as well, you can just spend hours lounging in the common places (and again, the place was quiet). There's also a library, and a Spa a short walk through a beautifully curated jungle. Didn't eat at the property, but the food and service looks top-notch. The room is also luxurious and comfortable - I got a deluxe room overlooking the golf course and the ocean. 2 queen beds provided plenty of room, as well as a couch, coffee table, lounge chair, small dining table, and outdoor balcony (with 2 very comfortable chairs as well). The bathroom was also a full 5 fixture set-up with luxurious bathtub, bath salts, and very comfortable shower (always a big fan of the Asprey bath products). Room came with comfortable slippers, robes, and the softest pajamas. Only negative I saw was the limited TV channels - which isn't a problem in this day and age of internet streaming.

Yelp
Excellent hotel. The property is gorgeous and extremely well designed in its environment. Most of the personnel went above and beyond expectations, was personable and extremely helpful (the single exception was the theoretical concierge that was completely helpless). The SPA while super expensive is pretty good. Rooms are simply fantastic in every detail.

Yelp
You have to pay to play. For great hospitality, comfort, and world class service it's worth every penny. Then again, no matter where I am in the world, I've never been disappointed in a Ritz Carlton. The beach is just a short distance a way. I love the wraparound moat-like pool. Ask the concierge for great local places to dine. We wanted authenticity and we truly got it. I'm pretty sure the concierge called ahead to let them know Americans were coming. We felt like royalty in this place.

Yelp
Hands down, the best luxury hotel I have ever seen or stayed at. Customer service is incredible, architecture/landscape is breathtaking, and the amenities make your stay worth every penny. If you have the opportunity, do it - you will not regret staying here. Highly recommended.
