Stayed here a few years ago while waiting to embark on a Caribbean cruise--it was a good choice. Close proximity to airport, beach front and beautiful facility with all the amenities one might expect at a Ritz or other luxury class hotels. Professional service, spacious and elegant rooms/common areas and excellent on site restaurants. This hotel has it all!

I am having a wonderful stay at this hotel. The breakfast buffet is delicious, with a wide variety of options. The room was super clean and comfortable, and the staff ate always available to assist me. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and again and again! Ocean front rooms!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Ritz in San Juan, and I must say it was an experience beyond compare. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that made me feel like a part of their extended family. This luxurious haven exceeded all my expectations, and I cannot recommend it enough. The moment I entered the hotel, the elegant and sophisticated ambiance enveloped me. The attention to detail in the decor, with its tasteful blend of modern aesthetics and classic charm, created an inviting atmosphere that instantly put me at ease. The entire property was immaculately maintained, reflecting the commitment of The Ritz to excellence. The staff at The Ritz truly made my stay exceptional. They were attentive, professional, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure my comfort. From the front desk to the concierge, every interaction was marked by their genuine warmth and willingness to assist. Service 10/10 Amazing hotel , the staff is awesome . Pure hospitality they even serve you drinks at the door . Just all around great service . Would recommend to anyone ! I had an amazing experience, just the atmosphere was great . Very welcoming top of the line service ! They had my ocean view room waiting for me , with a bottle of champagne and strawberries in my champagne as soon as my foot touched the concrete staff rushed me with drinks and treat me like a king . Food was a pure 10/10 they had a massive restaurant outside and it was great food Tasted perfect I had fish Tocos super fresh and full of Flavor . Pool 10/10 Especially at night :) super blue lights light up in the pool with a massive lions head water fall . Beach 10/0 It’s located right in the back of the hotel , so the beach is on your location which means you barley have to walk from your hotel to the beach . Man it was white sand warm water clear as can be . I will be back there asap .

My best friend and I always stay at The Ritz Carlton at Isla Verde. The staff is so ready to accommodate you and treat you like royalty. The rooms are very clean and the housekeeping staff is quick with any request you have. The pool staff are ready to bring you whatever you order quickly. I was very sad when Hurricane Maria destroyed the hotel totally and it took them some years before they rebuilt it to perfection. Although there is a pandemic still in progress, I'd love to make plans to visit Puerto Rico and stay at my favorite hotel once again.❤

I really hope this place reopens. I went in 2017 and was one of the best trips. Also my favorite birthday breakfast ever (and I’ve been to many places on my birthday). I’ve been to PR since and hotel was okay but not the experience I had here!

The Ritz Carlton in carolina PR.. Is a very BEAUTIFUL hotel. Me and my family enjoyed our stay. The entire Staff was wonderful. They made you feel welcomed. I loved that the pool is open 24hrs. That made the end of the day relaxing. Because as we were out an about sight seeing all day, we had maybe an hour or 2 to be on the beach,as it closed at 8pm, and my husband an son felt like they needed more swim time so we went to the pool. I enjoyed the BEAUTY of the view of the hotel at night. I would and have already highly recommend this hotel. I hope to be able to stay here again some day.

I really hope this beautiful place repones soon, it's so beautiful, breathtaking indeed. Puerto Rican journal informed their aperture will take place in 2025, for now Dorado has the Ritz resort and beach club

I stopped in for a drink at the bar. What an awesome experience! The service was amazing. I ordered a delicious drink and then the server brought me a variety of nuts, olives, and popcorn. They asked my name and addressed me politely. I can't wait to experience the full night stay on my next visit.

We like the Ritz. But what might sound odd is that we vastly prefer the Marriott Courtyard. We come for the beach and the Beach at the Marriott is simply better.

My experience at the Ritz was superb. I attended a conference at the hotel, and everything was incredible. I didn't feel the need to leave! The staff were all very nice and pleasant and went out of their way to accommodate us and make sure we were comfortable and had a good time. One of my colleagues needed an Apple laptop charger, and a few of the staff ran around trying to find one. The food from brunches to snacks to dinners were delicious! The cabana boys and beach staff were very prompt and eager to find us a good spot on the beach to set up umbrellas and beach chairs with fresh towels. The pool and gym are open 24/7. My only complaint was that the daily housekeeping ran late. They usually serviced my room around 2-3pm (pretty close to turn down service), but they did do a great job. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The service was amazing, the resort was beautiful, and it was a relaxing and fun trip. Would definitely come back!

Super close to the airport. Took us 4 minutes to drive. Requested adjacent rooms but since they're fully booked, our kids room (tho on the same floor) was totally down the hallway from us which kind of a bummer since I like feeling secured knowing they're just right next door to us. The boys got a king bed instead of two queens with an ugly rooftop for a view. In room dining is a meh. Food is def not what i was expecting. Didn't even set it up for us (sorry St Regis spoiled me), just wheeled in the room and left. forgot one of the food so we had to call them back for it. The positive side - The pool area and the staff. They're pretty helpful and friendly. Parking is not free. First ever Ritz Carlton that I am not excited about. =(

This hotel was actually better than expected. The service at the front desk was amazing, we got there about 5am and they let us check in super early. Thankfully they had rooms available at that time. I was worried we would have to check in at the regular time. The hotel is very nicely decorated, there is art everywhere. It definitely looks upscale. Yeah, I guess the Tiffany & co store downstairs helps a litttle. There is also a casino and several restaurants on the first floor. They have people who get your towel and umbrella at the pool and the beach. They were all super nice. I really liked this hotel and although it is expensive I think it's worth it. The food was good and the rooms were nice and spacious. Yes, I will stay again! P.s. order the coconut mojito at the beach or the pool. You will thank me!! Yummmm

I was really surprised to see this only has 3.5 stars on Yelp. The hotel was amazing and the service there was awesome. The beach and poolside service is great and it was one of the only places I went to in PR that had nice central air. The rooms were kept super clean by one of the best hotel housekeeping staffs I have seen. I have stayed at other hotels in the area and this is by far the best one.

This luxury beachfront resort is pristine, provides impeccable customer service from the moment you enter the door, world class dining (indoor/outdoor restaurants with food and cocktails that incorporate the island's best tropical flavors), high end shopping, and huge casino. Not to mention lots of natural lighting and dope fine art donning the walls by Puerto Rico's own Biaggi & Faure. +Isla Verde Beach/ perfect weather -Check +Soft white sand/clear blue water--Check +Beachside/poolside service-Check +Plenty of complimentary lounge chairs/umbrellas/fluffy towels/sunscreen/aloe Vera gel-Check +Jet skis, parasailing, and other water sports-Check They have you covered at the pool and on the beach so you can just show up! This was my first time visiting PR and I was really happy we selected this resort for a family vacay. Unlike many of my girls' trips, this vacation was intended for relaxation and we did just that. We were greeted with guava mimosas. On the first day, we chilled, worked out, and explored the resort. I got up close & personal with the island's pest--the green iguana. I couldn't believe how many we saw and how comfortable they are around people. They took their sweet time eating, climbing, and sun bathing without a care in the world. It was novel for me but the locals aren't enthused because they're wreaking havoc on PR's ecosystem with no natural predators to curtail the population. We ventured off the resort on days 2-4 for shopping, excursions to the Bacardi Rum Factory, San Cristobal, and Old San Juan then dined at local favorites where I got to try authentic Mofongo! About 50% of the people we encountered off the resort spoke English. Luckily, I paid attention during all those Spanish classes and my son is fluent. This resort is in a convenient location, just 10 minutes from the airport and a Walgreens just a block away that sells everything. If you have a stressful job like I do, you can understand why I'm already looking forward to a return visit. The people, not just resort personnel, were really kind and helpful. -One issue: There was one night when we decided to dine @ BLT at the resort. By the time I received my dinner entrée, I was too full to eat it thanks to the cocktail, apps, and popover. I had it boxed and took it to the room. Later when I was hungry, I called the front desk for reheating and they wanted to charge an additional fee. Our resort fees couldn't cover a quick reheat? I ended up wasting my pricey meal and I wasn't happy about that.

Great hotel, nice location. I've stayed at many Ritz (this one was pretty standard). Pros: Private Pool, Plenty Taxis, Spacious Rooms, Decent Food, Secure Entry Too All Floors, 24 Hr Pool, Friendly Front Desk Cons: $100/per night (security deposit), Dirty Towels In Room (although accommodated immediately), The Beach Is a little Too "Quiet" .... rather be down by the locals partying. All in all, I would stay here again.

It's a Ritz, what do you expect? Wonderful service, douche-y, rich people who look down on you, full bar, sushi bar, pool/beach area, etc. You can even take your drinks down to the pool and the beach. The front desk people become even nicer when they look at your Platinum status, imagine that. We got an upgraded room just because of our status which was nice, not complaining. 4/5, would be 5/5 if it wasn't for all the rude rich people...

Stating the facts. And some opinions... :) The lobby here always smells nice. Like flowers. They give you a welcome guava mimosa when you arrive. They put blankets on the beach chairs and an umbrella if you'd like on their beach right in front of the hotel. Great service. I only wish they had maybe more extended hours. For beach service. They start packing stuff up around 530. If you eat at the ocean front bad and grill instead of bringing out bread at the beginning of the meal they bring out these cheesy bites made of yucca flour and are addicting. Girls will get a souvenir necklace from the jewelry gift shop. Super close to the airport. 21 dollar taxi to Old San Juan. A couple of blocks from Walgreens which is super convenient. They give you two free water bottles a day in your room. They also have a night time housekeeping service that comes around to check on the rooms a second time. On our last day there we opted for the club access which was 150 (on promotion) for 2 people. You get all meals. Breakfast and lunch were good but dinners was a little disappointing, I knew it would be small snacks but the turn around for refilling is a be slow because there is not a kitchen they have to bring food up from the first floor. Drinks were good but when it got busy ordering drinks got a little frustrating you often had to wait awhile. Everyone was super friendly here. I greatly enjoyed my experience here.

As soon as you arrive in the lobby you are greeted with welcoming faces an glass of champagne with guava. The check in was quick for one room. Two hour difference for second room. We hung out at the pool and beach. No need to bring sunscreen they have plenty of spf 15 and 30. They have bug repellant in several different places for guest to conveniently use. When waiting for your car service cold bottled water is offered. Fresh fruit, oranges or apples are available in the morning where you get your towels. Beds are comfy. Rooms are clean. They did try to get us to upgrade to a balcony room for an additional $50 per night. Cheaper to sit by pool. Best thing is pool and gym are open 24 hours. Woohoo! Worst thing is they can use another jacuzzi.

The nicest airport hotel I've ever stayed in. :-P Ok so this technically isn't an airport hotel but it's basically next to it which makes it convenient but not exactly luxurious. The rooms are nice but I wouldn't stay here without a balcony. My first visit I had a pool front / ocean view balcony which was nice because I like having the extra sitting space and being able to open the doors. The second visit I stayed 1 night in a basic room for a conference and it wasn't great so I flashed some status around and got a free upgrade to an ocean front balcony which was absolutely gorgeous. The pros of this place is the service is great, the food and drinks are delish and weather in PR can be gorgeous. Cons are cost. I had an amazing room service breakfast for 2 with coffee. $80. Great pedicure $75. Delish pitchers of mojitos by the pool. $120. I also found the beach to be ok. The hot tub too small. And I don't love the location. Outside of the other hotels and the airports there isn't much in islaverde. I said on first visit I liked it but I didn't need to come back but alas I did but I don't pick my conference locations.

I am extremely surprised to see a 3.5 rating for this hotel! My husband and I stayed here with Club Level access for a nice 5 day chunk of our honeymoon before heading to Jamaica. The service was excellent and the hotel grounds were well kept. The hotel beach area is beautiful. If you don't want to eat at the hotel there are some cool restaurants within walking distance. The drive to Old San Juan isn't bad for when you want to sightsee. Staying in the Isla Verde area is much better. Why? No cruise ships or tourist traps. More Pros: -Pool is open 24/7. This isn't really publicized so it seemed like most guests didn't know this. Great for us as we had an empty beautiful pool area to ourselves at midnight! Who doesn't love a night swim? -I am not sure my experience would have been so spectacular without access to the Club Level lounge. Not only does this mean 'included' beach cabanas whenever needed, but it also meant: breakfast, lunch, appetizers through particular times in the day, snacks all day, and endless drinks--non alcoholic and alcoholic. The wine and beer is self-serve, you can get champagne glasses by request, as well as any delicious mixed drink you like by request from noon till 11PM. The associates were all so friendly and eager to serve. The view during the day and at night from the club lounge is breathtaking. You will really feel spoiled! If you can, give this Ritz a shot. It is definitely on par if not better than the other 5 star hotels I saw in the area.

The Ritz-Carlton - San Juan is absolutely glorious! I am shocked by some of these low ratings. We arrived and were graciously greeted by a friendly and accommodating staff who immediately offered us complimentary sangria mimosas. (HEAVENLY!) The hotel has an upscale and serene feel to it. (We visited other hotels that seemed to have more of a party-atmosphere while staying in San Juan - this hotel, however, offers luxury and serenity.) I cannot even begin to explain how helpful and friendly the staff at this hotel is. I don't think we ever passed a staff member without being graciously greeted EVERY SINGLE TIME. The amenities are wonderful! The pool, bars, restaurants, rooms, casino, and beach access are perfection. While the drink and food prices are high (if only they had an all-inclusive option!), that is to be expected - and it was all definitely delicous! I would give this hotel (and Puerto Rico!) 10 stars if I could! We'll definitely be back!

When my cousin and I arrived, we were treated like queens. This is a high end hotel. We were the only two African Americans there at the time. We did get a few stares but hopefully they were all positive. This is another accommodating hotel. Our hotel room was garden view and it was comfortable. The little soaps that they gave us in our room really smelled nice. Our bed was comfortable. During our stay, we never had to push a door. The doors were always opened for us by one of their staff members. The pool side was cool. We sat by the beach under our cabanas and had a few pina colodas. The elevator wasn't normal. We had to use our key card to select the floor number. When we sat by the pool we had something to eat. The waiter was very nice to us. I had something on the menu but i didn't like it so i didn't eat it. He took it off the bill at the end. He said "why should i charge you for something you didn't enjoy." That was very nice. We didn't get a chance to check the casino out. On our last night we said we would but it was already too late. This is a really nice hotel to stay. Its close to the airport and there is a Denny's on the strip. We had breakfast there one morning and it was good.

Now, THIS is more like it. I make no bones about it, I am a Ritz kinda guy. No matter how much I loved her, I would never let my betrothed whisk me away from Park Avenue to live in a shack and next to a smart-alecky pig. Never. Ritz! Ritz!! I need it!! While I didn't stay here as a guest, I was all over this hotel in a few capacities -- all of which were enjoyable. 1.) The pool area is spacious, well-kept and sexy. It spills out onto the beach but even the lure of Caribbean sand and blue waters might not be enough to pry one away from the well-designed patio and man-made waterways. Yes, it's a bit silly to lounge by the pool when there's an ocean steps away but the area at the Ritz is nice enough to make you think about do so. 2.) The ballroom was excellent. I know a little something about raw spaces and venues and this one suits the bill perfectly. The upkeep on the furniture, the grandeur of the lighting, the high ceilings, the expert staff, the well-designed bathrooms (!), large rooms, beautiful windows, and intoxicating staircase all add up to a fantastically wonderful setting for memories to last a lifetime. 3.) The brunch. Yes, in addition to knowing something about event production, my moobies betray the fact that I know a whole lot about brunch -- and so does the Ritz. First off, fresh mango juice. You had me at 'hello,' Ritz. You had me at 'hello.' Bagels, pancakes, fresh fruit, salmon, cereal, mimosa, fresh oj, grains, omelets-to-order with all types of wonderful ingredients, eggs, pastries, potatoes, veggies, meats, sweets, etc. I couldn't find a 'type' of food lacking from the selection. It's AYCE and perfectly suited for mainland American dining aka incessant grazing to the point of uncomfortable fullness. It's a party in the USA, y'all. Until next time, Ritz. I think I have a date with your high-count sheets.

14% a night resort fee with a deceptive descrition on the room confirmation to boot. Yes, the email confirming your room will show a resort fee charge, but only for one night. The know if you really knew how much they plan to rip you off for with their resort fee you might cancel so you only really find out how much the rip off fee is when you check out and are in a rush to get to the airport. So just in case you missed the point, they are going to want $140 of resort fees for every $1000 of hotel bill you rack up. So yes a $5000 hotel bill will get you $740 in resort fee!!! It's just outrageous. They only list one nights fee on the reservation so you think it's reasonable; until you get the check out bill !!! It's a four star hotel with five star prices and as noted above, some deceptive practices. You want a message? It's a nice spa with a good message but be prepared for the 25% manadory "tip" at the end of your message. It's like the evil bean counter consultants got together and tried to figure out how many ways they could rip you off. The place has some nice elements of a typical Ritz Carlton but by no mean anywhere near all. It's Ritz Carlton light. Everything from the flowers in the lobby, to the plastic beach bar to the no dealers at the poker talbes is "Ritz light". Now having said that, if you can get by the rip off 14% resort fee and the Ritz light feel, it is a nice four star hotel with a very friendly staff and a really nice pool. WARNING: The place is overrun with small children, some of whom have parents with limited parenting skills. The restaurants and the casino are ok; just don't expect to play poker there on most nights. It's just too bad that the hotel can not be up front about how much they really want to stay here. Getting that ripped off feeling just as your leaving really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I'm really tempted to give this place only one star but that would not be a "true" rating so I will be fair; even if this hotel's management was not.

I came here last week to break away and visit the island my husband talked about so much. This was a trip we were taking together when he got better. The unimaginable happened and he didn't make it to his 53rd birthday. Heaven is rite there where all of your best memories were sweet angel. Enjoy it. You're in a beautiful place. I stayed here for my birthday in early February 2014. And I must say, it turned out to be an amazing experience. Every one here was very friendly and welcoming. It started with our check in, I mentioned it was my birthday and our desk clerk was ready to call for a champagne toast to start the celebration. Also, our city view room became an pool/ocean view junior suite. The room was simple and elegant with a huge chaise and a high back wing chair with an ottoman and huge windows with a great view. Our bathroom had booth a stand up shower and a tub. And I was in love with the closet. Yes, I said it. I loved the closet. Nice paper line shelving, padded hangers and a safe big enough to hold all my important stuff. Huge fresh exotic flower arrangements and potted orchids were everywhere. The plantings out back around the pool area was amazing. And in the evening, the sounds of the Coquí frog filled the air. Some evenings, we had the jacuzzi to ourselves, other nights, it was a party atmosphere. Attendants were available to help you select a lounge chair location depending on whether you were into worshiping the sun or trying to hide from it and set you up with lots of towels. Also, wait service to there to keep you with a steady supply of cool beverages, my favorite was coconut rum with pineapple juice. Same thing, if you preferred a beach location. And what a beach. Pristine. Beautiful blue waters. We got a lot of use out of the spa and gym. Nice equipment, attendants even dropped off bottled water and towels for you. The spa itself was very relaxing and featured a coed super hot whirlpool. And again, my boyfriend had told them in advance that he was treating me to a massage for my birthday and I was given a small tray of chocolate truffles and fresh fruits. And another reason to visit the gym! Their restaurants were pricey, but isn't that expected at a resort? Some of the meals we had were average, others were a wonderful, tasty surprise. For Valentine's Eve, we dined in the Lobby Lounge where women were presented with a single bowed long steam red rose. Nice touch. The hallway carpet, at least on my floor, needs a shampoo. But everything about our visit more than made up for that one minus. Not the very best hotel that I have ever stayed at. But I did have the best time here.

Hotel Overall Old and needs updating. Feels like a regular Marriott, not a Ritz Carlton. Room Overall nice, furniture could use updating. We stayed in room 819, nice ocean view. There was a flashing light (smoke detector?) in our room every night, bad for sleeping. What to know: - Only one pool, adults and kids mixed. - Hotel locks beach access at night. Seemed kind of weird. We like to sit on the beach at night or walk around at sunset time, couldn't do that this trip. - Elevators are old and slow - Nice sand on beach compared to other nearby resorts. - Beach looks a little messy and chaotic, chair organization is terrible. Beach chairs old and every lounge chair we sat in, your bottom falls through the crack. - Staff is very nice and helpful - There is a Tiffany on site. - Casino is hoppin' after 9pm - No shop for snacks or drinks in the hotel, just a gift shop

I was very pleased with the Ritz Carlton in San Juan. The entire staff especially the front desk were all outstanding, the were genuinely pleasant. They made every effort to ensure you felt comfortable and happy during your stay. I had a wonderful experience here, I loved it......I highly recommend it!!!

There is a reason I keep coming back to Puerto Rico for New Years and for the 4th year, The Ritz Carlton, San Juan is definitely one of the reasons. It is the definition of class. Every time we go we get to see people from years past and all of us go back for the same reasons. The staff is beyond super friendly and goes the extra mile. Every employee remembers your name and they always say hello. Every time you come here you can expect the best of the best. If The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan can take a little time to read about me and send donuts to my room upon arrival, well YUP we just became even better friends! The Ritz- Carlton, San Juan is a one stop shop and you won't ever want to leave the resort, which happens to be my case every time I get to come here. After a long stressful year I wanted good drinks, awesome food and an amazing atmosphere,The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan is such a great place for that. You can still enjoy everything Puerto Rico has to offer inside the hotel or within walking distance. It is about a five minute taxi ride from the San Juan International airport, making it super quick and stress free when landing or departing. With two of the best restaurants on location as well as a sushi and tapas bar it's one of my favorite hotels to stay at. The resort is beautiful with incredible food and an awesome staff; the views laying out by the pool are to die for. If you want to leave the hotel Denny's and a local bakery are also practically right next door with a reasonably priced selection. Another great thing is that the hotel is only a couple of miles from old town.

So me and my wife eloped and came to the Ritz Carlton about two years ago to get married on the beach. Intimate ceremony; just the two of us and a minister. We booked a king sized room for 5 days or so. The room was ok at best; outdated, old-looking and really not up to the usual standards. The hotel is filled with auxiliary staff basically with their hand out for tip for the smallest of tasks (e.g. asking for directions) which you really didn't even ask or need them to do . So much so that it was a dread leaving the room. We inquired about the hotel arranging the ceremony, again, a very small and private affair; they wanted an exorbitant fee to do so (around 5k)!! The hotel employee we emailed with was slow to answer and not exactly on point for the sum they were asking at that. In the end we just bought the cake, fairly small, about $150 or so. We ended up organizing the ceremony ourselves and we were told we are not allowed to have the ceremony (again 3 people and a photographer) at the beach that belongs to the hotel. Mind you it was February and no one was at the beach. Instead we had to have it on the public beach which was like 30 feet away. Not once were we offered anything, an upgrade, a bottle of vine or even some flowers in the room. Typically one would get upgrades on a romantic weekend getaway to any chain hotel in the U.S yet alone a marriage!! The hotel location is remote and probably a 15 minute car ride to San Juan downtown. There are few, if any good restaurants around. A friend bought us a dinner in La Concha Hotel in downtown San Juan and this place was a much nicer hotel with an amazing ocean view restaurant in the hotel. The pool and the jacuzzi were nice but filled with small children.. In summary; what was supposed to be a joyous occasion turned into an expensive and annoying affair. I've never stayed at the Ritz Carlton anywhere else, but this one certainly did not live up to it's famous name. Perhaps they feel that one can forsake service and charge luxury prices, but that will only last so long. I would not recommend it nor would I ever stay there again.

As I entered for the first time, the lobby literally smelled like roses. All of the staff were extremely friendly, very helpful, and highly accommodating. I mainly came to visit my brother this trip and since I've already done the regular tourist things in Puerto Rico, I spent a lot of time at the hotel. The beach experience was a very relaxing time, filled with summing, snorkeling, reading, napping, more reading, more swimming, more relaxing, and so on. The attendees of the hotel on the beach were super friendly, the sun cream and lotions were free in abundance, water and fruit were available at no cost, and there was literally no need to get up to order anything, as the attendees would serve you and bill you right from your beach chair, which is placed where you like, with an umbrella drilled into the sand just for you. You're treated like royalty the entire time. At least that was my experience. To top it off, the swimming pool, with volley-ball net, and the large and well lit hot tub, were open 24 hours. The buffet for breakfast is also full of scrumptious food; eggs, fresh omelets to your desire, and many fancy things you'll have to try upon arrival yourself. Also, there's a decent sized casino downstairs with Roulette, a craps table, plenty of machines, and free play deal. You'll have to ask the casino about that. Just don't forget to take your hat off when entering. They have you do that for identification purposes mainly. You can put it back on once passing the entry way. This ritz-carlton was amazing. It costs a pretty penny, but it's amazing.

What's not to like about a Ritz property! And this place keeps true to its name. Everything is quality. I don't know if they purposely do this but the beach sand was amazing!!! Super soft. Like you are walking on powered sugar. We kept walking along the beach and noticed that the other properties had very grainy type of sand. So we decided to just camp out at the ritz beach. If indeed brought sand in to make the beach better, that should tell you how much attention to detail they go. They even have a casino! Food is great. Service is amazing. Definitely feels like first class. One thing to note. The property is 5 minutes from the airport. Oddly however, you can not hear the airplanes from inside the room.... You can from outside but you won't notice it. You will have to pay close attention. These pictures where taken in May 2014. --------------- Update. Ok. I've been in the property for a few days and had to down grade them from 5 stars. Everything is good but 5 stars is excellence. The spa area was smaller than we anticipated. My wife went in for a massage and she said it was "ok at best". The food is good. But we tried the apple chicken salad sandwich and it was a little too dry. A bit of a disappointment but the other dishes where good.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It is quite expensive, costed $750/night but the place was clean, had a great view and great service. The breakfast buffet, although also costly, was very good for a hotel breakfast!

My first time staying at the Ritz Carlton and wow it is beautiful. The staff are very nice and welcoming. The pool is huge and with an entrance to the beach. There are 5 restaurants downstairs. Full bar in the hotel and on the beach. The staff make sure your comfortable and feeling relaxed as possible. The rooms are beautiful and classy. The staff set up a chair and towel to sit and relax on the beach. There is a lot of art work. Definitely coming back here.

24-hour doormen, twice-daily housekeeping, complimentary fresh juice in the lobby, attendants to make up your lounge chair on the beach and place your umbrella exactly where you want it....the A+ service is Ritz-Carlton all the way. The lobby is elegant and fresh flowers were everywhere. The rooms are well appointed and the marble bathrooms are spacious (although lacking a separate walk-in shower). The Ritz always seems to capture the essence of the locale (rather then adopting a cookie-cutter decorating scheme found at many chains) and this property delights with tropical hues and local artwork. The beach was lovely and whilst all PR beaches are public this area was, for the most part, only occupied by hotel guests. As with all Ritz properties, the elegant Lobby Lounge is a great place to unwind with delicious (albeit a bit overpriced...what do you expect?) cocktails whilst enjoying a lovely view over the pool and gardens. I even got two free drink vouchers delivered to my room after check-in with a magazine about PR. They really made a point to welcome me and the bf. If I were to return to San Juan I would definitely stay here again.

This property is beautiful and there is even a small casino here. I didn't stay here but have stayed at other RCs. I was at this property visiting a friend. We hung out by the pool and it was lovely. They even provided complimentary sunscreen and Aloe Vera at the towel hut. Nice touch! I loved just walking around the grounds as they were beautiful.

I am honestly not sure why the reviews are not higher here. Just got back from 4 nights at the Ritz Carlton and the hotel and staff couldn't have been better. Now this was Presidents' Day so there were children everywhere (including my own two 8 month old twins), but every staff member couldn't have been nicer. Whether it was the checkin/checkout process, securing pool chairs or the housecleaning staff it was above and beyond what you would come to expect from the Ritz. Il Molino was delicious and the breakfast buffet (while pricey) was also worth it. Each day at the pool they set up a pack and play and umbrella for the babies. The room was clean, updated and well appointed. They even sent two toddler Ritz Carlton backpacks to the room once they found out we were traveling with two babies. We will be back!

Four nights of complete bliss including the night spent next to the toilet! The rooms are exceptionally clean complete with expensive snacks and water ($5.00 for M&M's). But they do include complimentary Ritz Carlton water and a selection of Puerto Rican coffees and teas. Not to mention, everyone here is so friendly -- constantly smiling and bending to the customer's every desire. The iced cold waters served by the pool are definitely a life saver along with the drink vouchers that came in our room. The room we had was a standard two bedroom and bathroom. The beds are comfy but there were no comforters. They have free WiFi and a nice television if you're not interested in going out for some Puerto Rican air. The rooms are definitely spacious with plenty of compartments to stuff your belongings into. The rooms facing the pool/beach have a gorgeous view, but sadly, we were stuck looking at the parking garage. My one and only complaint would be about the bathroom. It may seem small and a bit unnecessary to complain about, but I was bummed when I found out there was no fan. Do they know how important the fan is? Have they experienced walking into a bathroom right after someone takes a colossal dump? Not to mention, when there are four people sharing one bathroom for four nights, it is not a pretty sight! Anyways, if you're rich enough to have purchased the complimentary breakfasts, the Guava Pancakes, Mango Juice, and their French Toast are to die for. They also serve some eggs with green onions mixed in with a sprinkle of cheese on top along with a variety of fruits such as Honeydew, Watermelon, Pineapple, and Cantaloupe. But if you're not very adventurous, they also have Raisin Bran and yogurt. Though if you don't get it in the package deal, breakfast is a bit on the pricey side for $28.00 + tip for the breakfast buffet. All in all, I recommend the Ritz if you can afford it. If you can't, at least go and take a dip in the pool. It's worth it.

I stayed four nights and was surprised by how average everything about the hotel was. The room was essentially the same as one at a Courtyard Inn or Hampton Inn - not much that was special in any way. Many of the TV Channel's didn't work properly - cutting in and out, or low def only. I had a room with a pass through door, and it provided very little buffer for the noise in the adjacent room. I will say that the bed was very comfortable and they provide free bottled water in the room. Housekeeping is below average - leave towels on the floor for a change out and find them hung over your shower curtain bar for reuse. Or, leave three for a change and get one clean replacement. Seriously, a Ritz Carlton can't/won't provide clean, dry towels? Pool is nice, but again, nothing above average. And, signs of wear and aging are evident inside and out. I found some service to be excellent (the front desk) and other service to be poor (poolside restaurant). I had a table at the restaurant, but had to get my own drinks and water from the bar because the waitstaff dropped off food and rarely came back. While the hotel isn't top shelf, the prices are: $8 bottles of beer, for example. Finally, the meeting rooms were very nice. And, the hotel seemed quite responsive to requests from our organizers.

Ritz you never dissapoint me, thank you. I don't know how you do it, but you and your sisters treat me so well. Be it NYC, St. Thomas or your exotic sister in Istanbul I am always pleased by what you have to offer. Checkin was a breeze. We stepped out to grab a bite, thanks for watching our luggage. When we returned, we quickly got our room key. Then, I was happy to set foot into your spacious bedroom, your double sink vanity and your large shower. The king size bed was plush. The view you offer from the 10th floor was spectacular. I couldn't wait to jump in the pool or relax by the beach. I appreciate your conceirge, Luis. He was very helpful when it comes to recommending restaurants on the island. Also, your pool staff was extremely helpful. We asked for a certain drink that we enjoyed at your St. Thomas location, but our pool waitress was not aware of it. So she comes back and says she has the bartender at the Ritz in St. Thomas on the phone. We quickly describe the drink and the bartender recognizes it. Done. We had our drinks in no time. I will be back and curious to wander into your other locations.

When I think about my experience at the Ritz Carlton, San Juan, I sigh, smile, and think, "Now THAT's what customer service is about!" Every employee greeted me with a smile and a hello/good morning/ welcome. The concierge was fully prepared with road maps and directions to major sites: great! While the beach is public, the Ritz has these large pillows under the palm trees near by, perfect for lounging in the shade. The pina coladas served at the pool side and in the lobby are slamming: don't leave without having at least two! Breakfast was one of the highlights of my trip: all you could guava pancakes, french toast, and CHAMPAGNE. Having BLT Steak inside the hotel was sweet, as the service there was just as great as the hotel. The only reason why I knocked off a star: the rooms are small and you may get stuck looking at the back of some other building. Ask for an upgrade and see what they can do!

It is probably one of the Ritz Carlton's disappointing locations. I am a fun of Ritz Carlton hotels, and I try to stay in their hotels when I travel. So, that was a planned choice hoping to get the same great experience. I was a bit disappointed: Cons: 1) food at the buffet and at the cafe by the pool was just mediocre. Buffet, particularly, was very disappointing: a few choices of fruits, some pastry, omelette station, and a few more items and that's it. No fresh squeezed orange juice!!! Honestly, I barely ate anything, just not appetizing and no enough food choices. 2) hotel grounds need to more up keep 3) old towels, super old lounge chair covers, old umbrellas... 4) hotel is near the airport, you can hear the airplanes... Pros: 1) pretty nice beach 2) not far from Old San Juan 3) service is always good, no complains!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 4 days for a last minute vacation in May! We absolutely loved it. It's about a 10 minute drive from the airport which was a nice surprise, and the staff was wonderful and nice at check in. Unfortunately we didn't have a beach view room or a balcony, which I would highly recommend if it's in your budget, but our room was still extremely nice and we didn't spend much time in there anyway. The service around the beach and pool is a little slow but everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. The luxury of being able to lay out by the beach or pool with full service at all times can't be beat!!! The food at any of the hotel spots is extremely expensive. Sometimes it's worth it to buy it just for convenience factor and the atmosphere of eating out by the pool, but if you're willing to explore there are many reasonably priced and delicious restaurants walking distance from the hotel. I highly recommend venturing out of the hotel for meals! Overall the Ritz lived up to its name, and I would definitely return! P.S. on a side note - we accidentally left some articles of clothing in the closet of our hotel room, and the staff shipped it back free of charge the very next day! GREAT service!

Amazing!! Stayed here for my birthday and had the most amazing time. The staff goes above and beyond for guests. They were very helpful. The spa was one of my favorite parts. They take very good care of you! The pool/beach area is breathtaking. I will definitely be back soon!

"Putting-on-the-Ritz....." So, I booked this Hotel on Travelocity .... and I got the Travelocity experience. Staff here is excellent...very friendly, like many of the hotels in Isla Verde.... but don't think for one second if you book through a travel site you'll get the Ritz experience.... I come to San Juan at least once a year and decided to give the Ritz a try.... Next time, I'll stick with 'The Water Club"... Note: They just shut down the pool (9/6/16) for renovation & construction. Forklifts, jackhammers etc... I would strongly recommend going to another resort!

Great hotel the only complaint was the check in took long. I arrived at hotel at 0830 am I know check in is at 4 pm it was 530 pm still no room had to make a stink and got another room. My original room was a king bed got double queen. Which was ok but pool was nice and drinks too. A little pricy for drinks.

This review is for their Lounge/Happy Hour... BEAUTIFUL hotel, expected Ritz attention to detail and service. But when its hot out and you are staying in a cheap one night run of the mill inn and you want a better beverage rendering - tumble over to the Ritz, and sit with Orlando the magic alchemist!!!!! He takes PRIDE in his bartending craft which have placed him among the top 3 in a couple of competitions. His "Top Shelf" IS Top Shelf... He is a superb mixologists, serving drinks that are unique and his - so unique he should patent them. His take on a sidecar has mellow flavors reminiscent of apple pie (he should ask drinkers if they want some whipped cream or a piece of sharp cheddar.... but dont let the warm cinnamon and spice muddle fool you - goes down smooth, packs a whallop! Im not a cosmo fan, but his rendition is simple elegance in a glass, not sweet, with a subtle tang.... He gently zests an orange with a microplane releasing the sublime oils into your drink and giving it a fresh nose that is orange intoxicating. He has a personality to kill - you can't help being drawn to him and watch him whip it up and tend to the guests with TLC and ease. Ambiance, great bar food, outstanding service - Top Shelf bevande, Top Shelf service, down to earth people.

Great hotel, not the 5 stars but 4 stars are well deserved. It is expensive, from cocktails to meals, but it is the Ritz and it has good quality and service. Love the handmade cigars in the casino. A nice experience and the private beach. Also the fresh cold towels infused with citrus or cucumber while you are at the pool or beach. Great location, it is near the airport and near all kinds of nice restaurants and night life. I am recommending this for vacation or business.

Just back from the Ritz in PR. The outdoors of the property is beautiful. The beach and service there were amazing. Same with the pool. The ocean was warm and had very little seaweed. My room on the 9th floor was very nice and the AC was awesome. That's all the good! The main areas of the hotel, carpets and elevators show lots of dating and weren't on normal Ritz par. I heard lots of people complaining about their room but it sounds like they were being taken care of. Overall I would recommend this hotel just hope you get a good room!

This hotel is Absolutely gorgeous! The staff is so attentive to your every need. We loved dining at their beachside and lobby restaurants. They have the absolute best Mojito hands down. I cannot wait to come back and stay longer. If you are looking for the best hotel with the best service The Ritz is it!

This was my first time staying at the Ritz Carlton and it didn't start off very well! We arrived in Puerto Rico around noon and didn't get our room until 3PM or so. A day of riding airplanes can make a person very grumpy but that was pretty much the worst part! The lobby has some really good food, I highly recommend the Pina Colada! The rooms are nice, clean, room services swoops in every morning making everything look new again! One pet peeve I have about hotels is the TV channels they offer, I was so happy to see some actual good channels! The view was nice, we had a balcony overlooking the pool area. The staff is incredibly polite and helpful especially when you are asking them for directions! BLT Steak is also located in the hotel which is truly wonderful and worth every second of the wait! ROOM SERVICE IS GREAT! The burgers are delicious and huge! :) and it takes them really about 35-40 minutes to deliver. The hotel is nice, but I've seen better in Las Vegas, there isn't anything extraordinary about the rooms. *The beach by the pool area is one of the best and cleanest beaches I visited in Puerto Rico! The pool is okay, didn't go to it at all, other than walk past it on the way to the beach.

I get off the plane and as all other travelers do I reach for my cell phone and turn it on. No service! No nothing. Verizon doesn't work in PR! My first night has me at the Intercontinental as the Ritz is booked and my decision to beat the storm was probably the reason. But no phone service. I can't wait to get to the Ritz the next morning. Arriving bright and early and still without my iPhone working i saunter up to the guest counter and wonder if anyone could assist me with my phone? This incredibly polite young lady behind the counter says "no problem." After punching away at the screen, she says to turn it back on. I do and it is like Christmas morning ....4 bars. I am in love! BLT steakhouse is wonderful and very expensive. The beach as good as ever with warm Caribbean water, piles of surfers to watch and a good hard packed sand that is easy to walk on. The pool bar is better than ever and again with super polite staff and far more tables, chairs and cabana's to enjoy. The menu here is also more extensive than what I remembered in 2009. The Sushi bar is very good but not adventurous. Simple but very fresh and common offerings you might find anywhere. The chefs were amazing and pretty. Club level concierge is the way to go for those who enjoy finer service and convenience. But this is also a great deal. If you want to play, fish, get out on the town and not eat heavy meals, then just simply nibble your way through the Club Level at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's been 7 years since my last visit to San Juan and the Ritz. The service is better than ever and I truly believe that was one of the areas in the past that made me just for a little bit wonder if this resort was truly a Ritz Resort. The staff shined the entire time with warm welcomes, big smiles and never ceasing to accommodate. I think with this particular Ritz you get what you pay for and I find it a bargain.

The hotel is aging but offers 5 star service. It's a lot of nice amenities and access to beach. Room service is good - love their French fries and marguerita pizza.

This hotel is spectacular! Just returned from a 5-day vacation with the family and we were all extremely happy with the time we spent at the Ritz. What sets property apart is the service. There is plenty of poolside & beach side service that will set up chairs and umbrellas, and to bring cocktails & food - which is expensive, but not over priced. Frozen drinks are $13-15, beers are $7-9, and food is $15-20. We spent one evening at BLT Steakhouse. Our meal couldn't have been better. They bring you popovers, which are addicting, the ambiance is elegant, and the steaks are fantastic. The very best service I've received anywhere was from Joseph and Gabrielle at the Lobby Bar. There is always a choice on where to eat, but we returned for dinner 3 times because of them. Joseph, the bartender, makes a delicious rum Old Fashioned (never thought to make it out of rum). And when he had the time, he gave lessons and insights into all the local rum. I enjoyed talking to him. And Gabrielle helped us order 2 incredible sushi rolls that aren't on the menu. He personally customized our creme brulee dessert to accommodate personal preferences. There's nothing that guy won't do to make his patrons happy. We feel very lucky to have met these two. The kids got the City View while the wife and I got the Ocean Front View with a Balcony. The rooms are on the smaller side, but nicely done. And who cares - we came for the pool and beach, not to sit in a hotel room. Cab rides are ~$15 from the airport and $21 to Old San Juan. A Walgreen pharmacy and a supermarket are within walking distance, which is convenient for a family. My 14 year-old daughter looked at me on the beach and said, "This is the best place I've ever been." What more could I ask for? Thank you Ritz-Carlton.

This was my second trip to Puerto Rico. The Ritz is at the end of the strip of touristy things to do so it gets a bit pricey if you want to go into old san juan everyday. taxi ride is about 20 dollars. The common spaces of the hotel (lobby, pool, casino, restaurants) were beautiful. I only wish this transferred to the rooms. The rooms were very average. Think basic hilton or crowne plaza. The room was large and sufficient, it just didnt wow like the Ritz should. Attention to detail by the staff was lacking as well. Every time I called the front desk they greeted me as the person who had the room previous to me...not a terrible thing but I was there for over a week and it never got fixed. Food on site is VERY pricey. BLT steak has a burger that is 40 dollars without any sides. Add a drink and for one person you are looking at blowing 60 dollars. In this they are exactly what a ritz should be, but considering most of PR is cheap, there is not a lot of reason to eat at the hotel.
