The River Jack Tavern

This little gem is nestled in against the river. I stopped by chance on my way through. Wow! The quality of the food - unbelievable. The building is right on the water. The service is friendly and fun. If you are looking for great food and a casual atmosphere, this is the place to go. But don’t tell too many people. Because we want to keep this place for ourselves! 20/10 highly recommended!

We stopped here on a road trip through Maine. It was a great place! We sat with our dogs on the patio and looked out at the river. The crunchy salad was great, real crisp and fresh, with tasty sweet chili dressing. The service was fairly fast, even though it seemed like there was just one person taking care of all the tables (it’s a pretty small place.) There was a real nice, friendly atmosphere and a lovely view!

We travel to this part of Maine every year from Arizona to escape the heat. We love trying different restaurants, and we were intrigued by the menu choices here. It is not a very large place, but it sure is friendly, cozy, and delicious! The food looked and tasted amazing! We also got to sit on the ledge overlooking the river, and it was a beautiful view. The service was outstanding; the waitress was very thorough with her descriptions from their diverse menu. On our visit, we had the barbacoa beef roll and the Steak and Cheese sandwich. Both were amazing, and we paired them with the coleslaw and the street corn salad which were also excellent. There are so many great things to try on our next visit!

I had only stopped in during the summer to enjoy the patio - a great stream view! Inside during the winter months was just as good! The bar tender Jade, and all of the staff were welcoming and friendly! The cozy ambiance made you want to stay for just one more! Great menu, delicious food, and drink menu with something for everyone. Definitely will go again! Thank you!

The bride and I took a bike trip to Fairfield and tried the River Jack Tavern, we were not disappointed , the three piggy’s with garlic mayo was great and the wife said the steak sandwich was perfect.. the lovely bartender on duty made our experience perfect… definitely give this place a try…

The food is amazing! The environment really gives off a comfortable blue collar hangout with a dash of hipster. Now they did lose our ticket and have to ask what our order was twice and we weren't compensated for the situation butttt it was some damn good food... Go in knowing you might need to talk with the people you are eating with.

Today was our first time visiting, and even though we arrived right between the brunch and lunch switch-over, it was no problem, we took a quick ride to Waterville stopped at my favorite little shop, and came back about 45 minutes later. We ordered the Buffalo Dip, the Italian Chop Salad, the French Onion Soup, and the Shepherd’s Pie Bowl, and everything was so good. Nothing tasted premade at all—the food felt like something you’d get at a swanky restaurant, but in this cozy, low-key spot with great vibes. The music was awesome, too! Our bartender was incredibly sweet and attentive, which made the experience even better. We came all the way from Bangor and it was absolutely worth the drive. We’ll definitely be back!

Found this little place while traveling through Maine! Was not dissapointed by our choice. First off, our waitress was aaaamazing. Friendly, bubbly and attentive. My husband and I ordered a Ruben and a Steak and cheese to share. Both were excellent. The steak and cheese could have had a little more steak in it ( bread to steak ratio)but overall it was very flavorful. I would sludge and double the meat next time. The Ruben was great also. My husband ordered the pasta salad as a side to go with the Ruben and it paired very well. No food went to waste. Great job guys!
