The River Room

Wonderful tap room located in the heart of McAdenville aka Christmas town USA. Home of the Catawba River keeper offices. This tap room supports the River keeper's mission to protect our water resources. After all good beer needs clean water. Friendly folks, nice space some outdoor seating, dogs and kids welcome. Stop in for a pint after exploring the Christmas light, trails or in the warm months kayaking the Southfork.

Stopped by tonight December 1st at 9:20pm and they closed the door and didn’t let me get a coffee. Two ladies! Please update your schedule because this is not fair for the customers

Such a cool space! Great beer on tap and cocktails that rotate throughout the year. Servers and staff are all friendly and it’s a great atmosphere inside and out. The porch is great too

Friendly place, great location and very good cause. They let you sample beer, get flights. They also serve cocktails.

This is my new favorite home base for an evening of celebrating the lights of Christmas Town USA. Get there early and have a few local craft beers as you watch the day fade to night and the town lights come to life. Great patio with view of the lake with Christmas lights. Good chance you will find a food truck there as well. Our new annual tradition for McAdenville during the holidays.

Super cool bar. Always a good selection of beer from breweries in the Catawba river basin and Unique cocktails! I love old cotton mill building and location. ! It’s a non profit which helps keep our rivers clean and healthy. One of my favorites watering holes.

This is a great addition to the area! A beautiful space in a historic building with nice indoor and outdoor seating. Comfortable bar with awesome bartender serving a selection of the best independent breweries. I sat on the deck watching a pair of ospreys swooping over the water while I sipped excellent Hefeweizen. I'll be back!!!

Nice location because of the water. Beer selection is less craft and more like a grocery store and very overpriced. Inside kind of sterile like a doctor office or megachurch lobby. Good place to park in McAd and walk elsewhere

Such a great space and location! We don't typically venture into McAdenville, but came here with some friends. Their beer selection was perfect and the bartender was SUPER knowledgeable about all the beers on draft. I settled on a spicy, pumpkin beer, perfect for the fall season. They also offer fun cocktails! Lots of inside seating and outdoor as well. You can bring your pup along too! We can't wait to go back.

The River Room is a very cozy spot, especially during the holidays. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas and had a warm, inviting atmosphere. One downside was learning that pets are not allowed inside--even though they don't serve food--which is always a bit of a letdown for us. That said, Luna was welcome on the outdoor patio... unfortunately, it was about 20 degrees outside. We didn't let the cold ruin the experience, though. They have patio heaters and warm drinks available, which helped a lot. We grabbed comfy outdoor chairs right next to the Christmas tree, and the setting was really nice, especially with the water view just steps away. It never got overly busy, but there was a steady flow of people coming and going, which gave it a relaxed, lively feel without being crowded. We both ordered the Hardywood Gingerbread Stout (9.2% ABV), which was their only holiday beer available at the time--they mentioned they had another seasonal option but had already sold out. The beer was pretty good, though definitely strong. We actually left to check out the only other bar in town, but it turned out to be closed, so we circled back to The River Room for another round. Two gingerbread stouts came out to $14 total which felt very reasonable. They do charge a small membership fee (around $1) since it's a private club, and we were told that fee goes toward animal conservation, which is a nice bonus. Overall, despite the cold and the indoor pet restriction, we really enjoyed the ambiance, holiday decor, and relaxed vibe--and would definitely stop back again when the weather is warmer. **My reviews are designed to give a clear picture of each spot's food and drink options, taste, atmosphere, pricing, and--most importantly--how pet-friendly it really is. The river room is a great place to hang out. They had food trucks numerous days of the week. Their rotating signature drinks are great! Cold brews on tap as well as bottles. The staff is friendly and professional! You must sit outside to overlook the pond with many birds! Bonus View is the fire station ! Lots of comfy seating options. Family and dog friendly!

Cute little spot benefiting the Catawba river. Private club so $1 membership fee (weird but ok). Some parking onsite or you can jog there! Beer, wine, cocktails and some board games!
