We visited The Roadhouse in Byron Bay, and from the moment we arrived, Chef Pedro and Mel, made us feel so at home. They went out of their way to accommodate us, even letting our little pet Luna come in with us, which was very kind. The food was just amazing. Fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. There's a real focus on quality ingredients and simplicity done to perfection. It was such a good experience that we had to go back the next morning for breakfast. As a coffee lover, I can honestly say their coffee is the best in town. Rich, smooth, and made with real care. The atmosphere is warm, rustic, and relaxed, the perfect Byron Bay vibe. If you’re looking for great food, exceptional coffee, and genuine hospitality (plus a pet-friendly touch!), The Roadhouse is an absolute must. Thanks again, Chef Pedro and Mel. We’ll definitely be back!

We ordered a dirty chai, chai latte, and an almond croissant. Everything was delicious, but the croissant took quite a while to arrive. My friend's already finished her chai by then, that's not ideal. Still, it's a perfect place to enjoy the sun!

Having liked the look of the Roadside as I drove by, I decided to drop in for brunch one sunny morning, and I’m pleased I did. It’s a popular spot, but I was fortunate to find parking and an outside table where I could sit with my dog on the ground next to me. The outdoor area is relaxed and peaceful, so it’s easy to forget its roadside location. Staff were friendly and efficient. The wait time for my order was next to nothing. My flat white was strong, flavoursome and artistically presented. For my meal, I chose the eggs, poached, with sides of mushrooms and a hash brown. That was tasty, although the eggs had been poached for a little longer than I would have liked, and were rather on the small side. I guess finding any eggs can be a challenge these days. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable meal away from the city centre.

An absolute standout! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and incredible service from Melody and the team. The pizzas are delicious, perfectly crisp bases, premium toppings, and the flavours are spot on (the salami with hot honey is a must-try!). The wine list is equally impressive, with delicious options that pair beautifully with the food. Every visit feels like a treat, it’s our new favourite spot for a relaxed yet special night out. 🤤🍕

We usually go here for coffee/brekky - but the SHOWSTOPPER was dinner! Oh my gosh, faultless incredible gourmet beautiful delicious food! The two main chefs are Brazilian who does all the chargrill nibbles/mains and Italian chef who makes the best woodfire pizza we have had….ever! 6 of us dined there and was our favourite meal of the trip. MUST go for dinner. Wish we took more pictures but enjoying ourselves too much. Thank you roadhouse team

Google
Perfect place to have breakfast or brunch. You can always spot cool staff, really friendly. We tried the avocado toast, and the Eggs Benedict, everything super tasty and healthy. The coffee is real good! We found the size of the toasts really fulfilling, so worth it.

Yelp
A great cafe with beautiful outdoor seating, Tropical feel and friendly staff. We enjoyed the Slow Cooked Braised Pull Pork Shoulder and the super tasty sourdough. However slightly letdown by the average tasting coffee.

Yelp
When hosting a group in Byron consisting of four vegetarians, one omnivore, one person with a gluten allergy and one vegan where else could you take them other than The Roadhouse?! OK, so being in Byron there were plenty of other options to cater for all of us, but none offered the same charm and natural aesthetic of this beautiful cafe and bar. We were lucky to nab a long bench table outdoors when we arrived at around 10:00am on a Sunday morning. We perused the menu and everyone was able to find something that appealed. No small feat considering the variety of diners at the table! I ordered the breakfast tacos (gluten free and sans avocado due to just two of my many allergies) and a Good JuJu Cold pressed juice. Orders are taken at the front bar. As it edged closer to the kitchen closing for lunch prep the line grew longer and longer. The staff were troopers and very professional throughout. The meals didn't take too long to arrive and the staff were friendly if not busy throughout the service. The tacos were out of this world. Seriously awesomely amazing. So fresh and interesting and every mouthful was such a great variety of flavour! My hubby opted for the same with avocado, and he agreed. We will definitely go back for more of these! His house-made lemonade was refreshing but a little too strong for my taste. For the life of me I can't recall the Good JuJu pressed juice I had, but I know it was orange and had oranges, carrots and maybe tumeric? It was certainly a strong and interesting taste. Not offensive, but not my favourite I have to say. Next time I would probably just go with water. Everyone on the table enjoyed their visit thoroughly and I hope to go back for more of the delicious breakfast tacos. One day I may even move onto other offerings on the menu!

Yelp
Just finished our dinner at The Roadhouse, absolutely loved it. We made a booking online before attending (definitely recommend doing so as heaps of people got turned away as the place is quite small, especially when it's raining and you can't sit outside). Great range of bar snacks- we had the jalapeño popcorn which was a nice spicy start. Mains we had a cheeseburger with wagu beef- melted in your mouth and nice and light, and the ravioli- a favourite and quite a large serving. Prices are on the pricer side for mains but well worth it. Great range of wines and cocktails, their tap beers are great as is their house made cold brew.

Yelp
I ate both dinner and breakfast here on weekdays while I was staying nearby, and my host had really talked this place up. Unfortunately, I was hugely disappointed by lackluster service--it took 10-20 minutes each time for anyone to pay any attention to me (I was dining solo) and dinner (just a simple pasta dish, and they have a small menu) took 40 minutes to arrive after ordering. When I came in for breakfast, the gentleman staffing the register actually walked away when I stepped up to order, after I had been waiting and despite the fact that there was a queue. At dinner, the wine special that I had with dinner ($12 for a glass of 2014 Adelaide Hills Sav Blanc) was not particularly nice--to the point that had I been able to get anyone's attention, I would have asked for something else. When I wanted to pay up afterwards, I had to aggressively move to the register while someone was behind it, because waiting for someone to bring the cheque might have taken days. I would be less frustrated if I hadn't spent a good part of the time while I was waiting observing the staff chatting to one another instead of looking after patrons, as well as turning away would-be diners when plenty of unreserved tables were available. While the food was alright and the location convenient, service like this doesn't merit your time.

Yelp
Made a booking for two - get seated on an uneven high bench with stools facing the car park. Took 20mins to order a drink. Took 1 hour to receive the fish dip and two pieces of bread we ordered with our drinks. Took another 45 mins to get our pizza and "caprese" salad- they had evidently ran out of basil and replaced the salad with parsley instead. Asked for chilli oil- never came. Asked for water - twice- we got it ourselves from the bar. The service is shocking, the staff lovely but have no idea how to run a restaurant service, the food tasty, but took way too long, the drinks good but you don't get asked if you want more than one. A lot of work needs to happen here to make this a great place- it has potential but get a manager who has experience and you might have satisfied guests who will come back.

Yelp
Friendly atmosphere, nice coffee with healthy food. Really like quiet town life, peaceful & relax. It is located near main road, easy to find.

Yelp
If what you're looking from a dining experience is epitomised by staff uniforms and individual dining tables where no one disturbs you, unless it is to ask you if you wanted more wine, then this is not the place for you. Staff are friendly and casual to the point of feeling like you've been invited to their incredibly hip and delicious family home. Food is, in one word, "nourishing", in two words "deliciously local" or in four words, good for the soul. I have been here a few times, and have had meals ranging from chia pudding, "nourishing bowl" (line caught fish, sprouts, fermented vegetables, and fresh greens with tahini sauce), and a Keralan vegan curry. It seems they do things simply and well with a real effort to keep things real. Coffee is sensational, and options for milk include cashew and almond, as well as your standards. Diners are super friendly and communal, as can be expected from a Byron spirited café. Wine list was all great choices from what I saw. Overall, would recommend to any appreciater of good food, coffee, wine and ambience for either breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Unfriendly service. Came in for lunch but were told they were closing in 45 more minutes so wouldn't take any more orders. How about coffee and cake? No. Maybe it's because we came in with kids? Doesn't really help the Byron = pretentious thing.

Yelp
Go here for a low key, chilled out local cafe away from the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay. Expect to stand out from the local patrons and service to non-locals could improve. The cafe/bar/restau interior is rich in warm chocolate timber, white chalk writing on blackboards is pinned over exposed brick, display wall of wine behind chicken wire cabinetry adds to the ambience of a pretty cool place more especially after hours. We stopped in for breakfast, I had the smoked bacon and scrambled egg over sourdough special. The smoked bacon enveloped through the scrambled eggs which was sensational, bedded over fresh sour dough which I devoured easily and quickly. Highly recommend dropping in when in Byron. Matted, unruly hair essential.

Yelp
The roadhouse is more drinking hole than quality eatery, although when we called in early evening we were told we were not allowed to order drinks without food. (This was said to be a licensing issue but we wondered if it may have been because two of us were over 20 years of age and the hipster staff didn't want us spoiling the atmosphere?) So we decided to dine, but waited an age for the food to appear. By that time the staff had got our drinks order wrong twice and appeared to be more concerned with looking cool than serving anyone in a timely manner. The food was even worse than the service : the plates looked a complete mess and were complex mixes of too many ingredients which didn't go together at all. The meat was tough and wasn't local, although the area prides itself on excellent organic produce. The veg were over-cooked to the point where we considered holding a funeral service for the once-was radicchio! We considered trying to recover from the disappointing mains by having pudding, but there was only one on offer and it didn't appeal. By this time we were also a little weary of the cool hippy crowd who seemed to be drinking more than eating, but maybe the Roadhouse rules differ for the trendy crowd? We left with empty pockets (mains were $30 each) and the staff seemed put put out when we noted we had been over- charged for the drinks and didn't leave a tip. In summary this is an over priced bar, living off its reputation as a hip drinking venue and we don't recommend it for good food.

Yelp
Please do NOT bother with this place. My friends and I went to this place on Sunday morning for breakfast - got a table inside... and as the music was up very loud... asked politely for them to turn it down... They did so... We could talk once more. Then... when we went to order... the Barista took offence to the music request and refused to serve us - asking us to leave... and on the way out... asking us not to come back. We are all HIGHLY offended by this level of service - as it is something we cannot equate to Byron - or Australia for that matter. Looking at other reviews... we are not alone in being treated like this. DO NOT GO THERE!

Yelp
Terrible customer service, waited an hour and a half for food and their attitude was horrible, and food was definitely not worth the wait. Come here if you like waiters who treat you like shit and average meals

Yelp
Great food and service. Everything is fresh and delicious. Quite pricy and no card facilities to pay. They do have an ATM but you will get a surcharge. The merlot we drank was divine but at $15 per glass it should have been. Fun, social environment. Staff were fun and friendly. Booking are essential.

Yelp
We were really excited to try this place but were left feeling very disappointed. The lady who took our order was really rude. We asked politely if we could get a serve of the banana and walnut bread to come out early for our son but were told 'It would come when it was ready'. A simple answer like 'we will try our best' (even if it was a white lie) would have been more acceptable. When our food finally did arrive it was below average. I ordered the poached eggs which were over cooked and served on burnt toast. My partner ordered baked eggs which had a really foul tasting shiitake mushroom accompaniment on the side. Overall a disappointing meal, with too cool for school service. We won't be trying this place again.

Yelp
Food was very good. Place seems like it's concerned with hooking up bros and wealthy locals, which is okay I guess, but they seem to get a bit odd about being full and logical seating. We had to take liberty and move to an inside bar table after being stuck at an awkward barrel table and then moved to a back corner table outside where it didn't make sense to sit us, given there was ample seating inside. My wife and I just barged it and sat at the bar that apparently wasn't available previously. Besides that, it was a nice place, off the beaten track, and with farm-fresh food bought and prepared in a unique way. The jerk chicken was not exactly jerk when you've had it island style, but still okay. The fact that it was $18 for 3 drumsticks, however, was a little too much. I definitely thought it would be a bit bigger given the prices. But, I guess I'm the sucker that bought it. In any case, good place, cool environment, but some things they could probably improve as far as managing the place.
