One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in! I loved the cozy vibe, the nice living room and the rooms! The bed was really comfortable, with wooden frames and the curtains around it a great touch for privacy. The bathrooms were clean and actually felt more like a home bathroom than a typical hostel one. At night, I could hear the river flowing, and there’s a beautiful view of the forest right from the property. Michael, the owner, was incredibly kind and helpful! The location is also perfect for hiking — you can walk to Siabod right from the hostel or do the trail with riverside and forest scenery. There's also a lovely pub just down the road for dinner. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The rocks was an absolute lifesaver after our tent broke at 9.30 on in sideways wind and rain! ||We didn’t have high expectations booking it in an emergency but it wildly surpassed our expectations. ||The rooms are lovely. Impeccably clean, warm and cozy, notably the beds were very comfortable. ||The facilities were also fantastic with plenty of bathrooms (also spotless), a very useful drying room, huge kitchen, dining room and a very nice lounge with incredible views. ||Final note was the staff who were not only very helpful but very nice and kind. ||Will definitely be staying again and I won’t bother trying to camp next time.

A really great find!|Beautifully fitted out - it has a really cool but homely vibe. The staff were excellent and super friendly and helpful. |The kitchen was large with plenty of space and lots of stuff. We had ample fridge and shelf space too. |Our room (number 7) was cozy but plenty big enough for a family of 4. |Toilet/shower facilities were good and very clean when we got there. Just remember it’s communal living!|The highlight was the lounge, with its big couches, tv and log burner. There perfect place to relax after a long day on the hill!

I found respite from the wet and wind at The Rocks, for one night in May 2025. I’ve stayed at around 20 hostels, and here definitely felt like one of the cosiest and safest. Echoing other reviews, the place was exceptionally clean. And staff were kind, approachable and welcoming. Bathroom (toilet/shower) facilities were individual rooms - great for privacy. Kitchen food storage was ample (rooms had specified boxes), and utensils worked well. Also worth noting that, outside of the wet room and kitchen, sensory stimulation was muted and low - with neutral smells, natural colours and soft, wood-furnishings. There seemed to be a tendency towards quietness and calm. Of course, the log burner felt relaxing and homely. I appreciated the hand-illustrated drawings of local trails, too. If you need a place to stay, I would highly recommend.

As the rain lashed into my face and I was buffeted by the wind on a freezing Welsh mountain, I was envisioning myself back in the comfortable and cosy lounge at The Rocks - wood burner roaring, warm, dry and cosy! |The Rocks is the perfect place to return to after a day in the Welsh outdoors; we absolutely loved it. Super stylish hostel accommodation with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great location for exploring North Wales and a characterful old building. Friendly and helpful staff.

The location is great. Close to Moel Siabod. Bus access to Bangor and Snowdon. The bed has great privacy and the room has plenty of storage places. Clean and nice toilets. Also the kitchen and dining room have all the things you need, including tea bags and coffee. Can’t expect more.

Very clean and great location for hiking. Dorm set up with curtains provided lots of privacy. Kitchen and communal areas nicely spacious. Make sure to bring everything you need as shop closes when they feel like that day rather than the advertised time.

Excellent cosy family friendly hostel (stayed as family with 6yo and 8yo). |Well set up with decent showers, a great cooking space and clean rooms/bedding. Living room functional ( no comfy couches just padded benches) but not needed as we were out all day/dinner and crashing into bed. |Felt safe and respectful with other guests staying.
