"For Shoppers and Sightseers Alike The Rocks is undoubtedly one of Sydney 's most beautiful areas. Follow George Street until the very end and it’s almost like you’ve stepped back in time—there are cobblestones under your feet, quaint stores to browse, and great pubs to visit. One of the best experiences you can have in Sydney is to visit the Rocks Markets, especially on Friday nights during spring and summer for the Rocks Markets by Moonlight. The warmer months in Sydney are the most exciting; pair them with all the beauty of the famous Harbour Bridge, Opera House and this historic hub and you’ve got the best version of this amazing city. There are stalls offering everything from handmade gifts and sweets to unique jewelry and fashion, but the atmosphere is set off by all of the other quirks that you would never have expected—puppeteers and magicians roaming the crowd, dozens of people young and old wearing headphones and dancing at a silent disco, musical performances and pet displays with some of the most enormous cats and rabbits you’ve ever imagined. All of this set among historic buildings and Sydney’s oldest sites makes for a truly unique experience indeed. By Cass Megraw"

A wonderful weekend market with many stalls of food, homemade products and much more! The market stretches along a wide road so you’ll probably spend a good amount of time here. There’s food, homemade products, gift cards, glass figures, essential oils and more! I bought a handful of cards and much more!

This is a free open-air Sunday market. The location is excellent. I’d give it a skip if it is raining. Thankfully, we had a sunny winter’s day. It has a great vibe with assorted stalls - trinkets, handmade products, artisanal goods, a wide range of food. It’s a fun experience. But it’s also a tourist trap with prices rounded up. Don’t visit if you’re super hungry. You need to be prepared to pay over the odds for simple food in smaller than normal portions. Try to go in the morning as the crowds pick-up dramatically from noon.

Amazing experience! Loved the July Christmas fest! It's a whole vibe! And you can see the opera from a different angle at rock's. There are a lot of street musicians there in the evening, perfect for a cozy vibrant evening!

It's a pleasant market and a lovely area for a stroll, even if you don't intend to purchase anything. The lively atmosphere and crowds are enjoyable. There are souvenirs, goods, drinks, snacks, handicrafts, and more. It's conveniently located within walking distance of Circular Quay. However, I believe it's only open Friday through Sunday.

Outstanding market with various stands and local brands. Perfect way to spend Sunday outside when it’s sunny! We got some souvenirs as well as delicious lunch. They have many food stands so everyone with different dietary restrictions should be able to find something good! As for prices, they were pretty high, which is relatively normal for these type of outdoor markets.

Looking for something to do on the weekend, this is worth a visit, has a real buzz about it, lots of interesting stalls to tempt the punters and the food section is very popular we especially love the pizza stand.

We arrived SYD on Sunday, and headed to The Rocks weekend mkt after checking in. The atmosphere was lively with stalls offering lots of finger food fm diff cuisine. And along the way, u can shop for little stuff. But for typical mass mkt tourist souvenirs, head to Paddy’s Mkt in Chinatown instead.

Many many crafts are here with some foodies. Can see how people enjoy weekends in Sydney

Yelp
From 10 am until 4 on weekends over a hundred artisans set up tables under large tents. It was crowded, we moved slowly admiring prints, photographs , jewelry, clothing, crafts , chocolates, fragrances, oils, paintings ... everything that says Sydney. The crafts were beautiful & expensive. Food vendors were preparing & selling ethnic foods such as paella, Egyptian, Turkish, Italian, Indian ..

Yelp
Visited The Rocks Market with my daughter the day before the TCS Sydney Marathon. Such beautiful and unique items - locally handmade and high quality. We spent a couple of hours walking thru the market and visiting the local shops and galleries open that day. The food trucks was unique and very tasty. We were staying the Circular Quay area and it was a short maybe 10 min walk. A must visit if you in Sydney on a Saturday!

Yelp
After my terrifying walk across the Harbour Bridge, we ended up at the Rocks Markets. It's definitely touristy but fun to explore, as much of it is covered - perfect for sunny or rainy days. The market is open on weekends and twists through the narrow streets of the historic Rocks neighborhood. It's an easy stroll over from Central Quay - just up the road really. Expect mostly souvenirs/gifts and some food stalls at the far end (near the bridge). Most things are much nicer than the usual tourist tat - it's kind of a makers market. Prices reflect that for sure. I couldn't resist a set of wooden Christmas ornaments & am very glad I bought them as I didn't ever see them elsewhere on our trip.

Yelp
This is a spectacular market with lots and lots of different vendors with quality items for sale. All the way from roasted corn to blown glass and beautiful expensive jewelry. It was absolutely packed with people and it was hard not to stop and admire things like I wanted to. You can spend a entire day here and not get bored. I didn't have time but I wanted to go back and get a Monet cupcake. This is a shoppers heaven.

Yelp
After working 8 nights straight from 11pm till 7am, I was dying to head outdoors and just enjoy the air (well not the smoky air) but the atmosphere of little stalls and awesome little dust collectors to buy, ok so my husband is rolling his eyes but you cannot just stroll through the stalls and not buy something, right? My eyes were constantly looking around, my brain says, "nice things around, very unique, colourful." My eyes say "buy that, maybe I could buy that too, wow that's a nice colour." Of course I could not resist and bought a lovely colourful necklace for only $29, yes, only. This little stall has everything hand made by Catch Coeur Jewellery. Now I'm happy and time to eat. There are a handful of food stalls there, nothing too big but still very satisfying. There is some yummy Turkish Gozleme, to die for, freish juice stand, paela, 3 dishes to choose from, I went for the seafod, burgers....but don't forget, you're a The Rocks so there is plenty more places to eat at from a full dining restaurant experience to cafe or sitting on the grass with your Gozleme. The Rocks Markets are there Saturday and Sundays from 10am till 5pm. I know I will be going back. So much more nik naks to buy. The best way to get to the The Rocks is to catch a train and get off at Circular Quay. Depending where you are coming from you will need to change at Town Hall Station, go to Platform 6 for your Circular Quay stop.

Yelp
A definite visit of you're an out-of-towner. At The Rocks Markets you get to experience the best of Sydney - the harbour, the history of Sydney and the amazing food we're blessed to have in this country. I work in this area and am here every Friday, it's my treat day where I allow myself to follow the aroma at lunch time which normally takes me to a food stand that's sizzling away... Gourmet burgers, rolls, wraps, ice cream, nuts, fruit, juices, scones.... You can find it all here. Just don't be in a hurry as it's buzzing down this way every Friday and queuing is part of the experience. Don't let this phase you as standing in line watching the chefs at work and taking in the atmosphere is as exciting as getting your chompers into your lunch. For the tourists there are lots of pretty cool and niche arty souvenirs and gifts to take home to remind you of the 'lucky country' as we all know Australia to be. But the cherry on top is taking my lunch, finding my spot on the cobblestones and letting the amazing buskers serenade me into the weekend. TGIF!!

Yelp
What a place! The Rocks was by far one of the best places we went to on my short but sweet trip to Sydney; after being surrounded by the giant buildings and neverending queues outside of Gucci on Pitt Street et al, it was quite refreshing to visit the market on Saturday. With food and craft stalls aplenty, this is a family friendly morning or afternoon out that all visitors should experience. For those, like myself, who can't handle the sun on the best of days, be assured that there is plenty of shade! I walked away with a few goodies - a gorgeous print of Sydney, some coasters, a leather necklace (great when it's hot outside!) and a loaf of banana bread. We also perused a chilli stall, an UGG shop, plenty of jewellery, and some of the best liquorice my mum has ever tasted! We all had a wrap from Wine Odyssey for our lunch; chicken tikka with spinach for three of us, meatballs for father. These were really tasty and left us feeling content but still able to walk around for the remainder of the afternoon. A great space to spend your time in Sydney.

Yelp
Great market area open on weekends with random goods as well as delicious bites! Got a variety of foods and enjoyed it with live music. Go to the Venezuelan stand if you can cause they've got some good stuff! There are a lot of tents with people selling homemade goods. It's really cool to see but very pricey and didn't appeal to me enough to shell out that much money. Definitely stop by when you're in the area.

Yelp
Walking about at random in the heat can be fun when you add shopping for random stuff to the mix. Jewelry... check! Soap... check! Crafts... check! All the necessities of life are available! The Rocks Market on weekends is obviously designed for tourists but, that just means I'm qualified since I'm a tourist too!

Yelp
Just as I remembered from a decade ago! Only now it's bigger, has a separate area open on Fridays, and there's a guy at the end (nearest the bridge) who sells shave ice with a butterbeer flavor! I have to say, all improvements.

Yelp
You might have heard me bemoan food choices in The Rocks..Like, constantly, all the time, never shut up about it, I know. That does not happen on a Friday. Hallelujah for the Rocks Markets! The Gosleme stall is always pumping, with a long queue. Worth the wait. Their Spinach and Feta is lovely. I always ask for extra lemon with mine. There is a dried fruit and nut stall, and a guy who sells juicy corn on the cob with a can of drink for five bucks. The Sushi King guys have a stall there too, and pump out lots of scrummy things. There is a lady who does fresh juices, there are cup cakes and sorbets too. The guys who sell flowers are terrific. Very fresh, long lasting blooms. I buy from them every couple of weeks. On the weekend, it gets bigger, with lovely jewellery stalls, lot's of clothing and souvenir places, arts and crafts and nick nacks. Live music pumps out, and there's nothing to stop you having a beer and soaking up the ambience between shopping stints. No fruit and veg in sight, if that was what you were looking for, but a fun place to find unusual things.

Yelp
A city market should be all about passionate vendors, quality goods, and reasonable prices. The Rocks Market, which operates from Friday to Sunday, is the ideal location to stroll and see what's new. As if The Rocks wasn't a charming enough place to be, this somewhat small market offers a glimpse of unique and locally designed clothes and jewelry, as well as sundry artwork and crafts. If you go on Friday, you'll find the Foodies market (my kind of market!), where various produce, prepared foods and street foods are featured. Each stall has a specialty. Don't worry if you don't have a stomach like mine that can eat all offerings in one go, your nose will lead you to your foremost craving. Trust in your sense of smell! Check the Markets' website for upcoming events, appearances by celebrity chefs, or seasonal tasting sessions. One example was The Cheesemakers Showcase that took place at the end of September. Having been ignorant of Australian cheese before, my taste buds were introduced to a multitude of cheeses from Tasmanian cheddar to local Camembert. I'm surely grateful for that experience!

Yelp
I have fond memories of The Rocks weekend markets. It's lively, and I like the variety of arts and crafts from streetside vendors. And it wasn't just weekends, since retail shops on the street and inside its small mall were unique and fun. The weekend markets are still fun and unique, the shops and mall are totally bland and boring. No doubt catering to tourists from Mainland China, there are a lot of high end luxury brands with all Chinese shop attendants. If anyone thinks the wave of Japanese tourists from the 1980s were bad enough, they have not seen the half of it with the Chinese tourists. Parking in the area is a pain, but it's easily accessible by the train (at the Circular Quay station). Plan on hiking not just in The Rocks market, but the other side of ferry piers where Sydney Opera House and the big park is awaiting.

Yelp
If you're out and about in downtown Sydney, then you'll need to try these markets out. However, I would recommend you try it out on what I like to call 'fine food' Friday first. So, for this review I'll focus on Friday. Argyle Street is where the stalls are located. The stalls run from the corner of George and Argyle Streets in The Rocks district and you'll know you are there when you see located on opposing corners the Orient Hotel, Guilliame Chocolate and the Police Station. The first stall you meet is a smorgasbord of fruit and vegetables and as you snake around Argyle St, on the Orient Hotel side, you'll see further stalls for flowers, chocolate and sweets, Moroccan artisans products and any number of fresh food stalls. It is because of these food stalls that for me 'fine food' Fridays here have become the key to the heart of the Rocks Markets. Where to begin? The Fine Food Store stall is perfect for barbeque meats and thick juicy sandwiches or rolls. Think of perfect bacon and egg combos, mini burgers, steak sandwiches or any other combination of meat, veg and bread perfectly packaged for your enticement. Fine food it may be but it caters for fine hearty meals too! Another favourite is Pony. This little stall is in humbler surrounds than it's finer food premises in the Argyle stalls building. However, if you want a sampler of its menu then its finely packaged fine food presented at this stall is a good start. ... And did I hear you say Gözleme? Yes! Then, the next stall past Pony is this little gem. For those who yearn for a hot and savoury traditional Turkish hand made and hand rolled pastry cooked over a griddle...need I say more. The line at this little stall says it all. Be prepared to wait, but my word is it worth it, when eaten with a bit of fresh lemon juice you'll be back queueing for more! Japanese perhaps? The Hero Sushi Box stall with its korroke, omelettes, gyozas, or karrages will be for you. There's a stall catering to any of your Japanese craving. I quite like this stall, especially if you want to pursue some mindfulness moments at the Observatory Hill Park. Finally, there's a few stalls with bread, oils, macadamia nut sweets, coffee and juices. On a sunny Friday, this little corner of Argyle Street buzzes. I love it. After finding your food, just walk around. Listen to live music or even sample some wine nearby or a little french patisserie on your way home or back to work. You just don't know what is next in stall? You see Friday here is just a little introduction to the bigger days of Saturday and Sunday.

Yelp
Come here on a Saturday morning, during the farmers market. there is a place that sells Turkish flatbread. to date it is one of the best foods I've had in Australia. $9.50 for a 12" x 12" flat bread with egg mushroom and meat. It is amazing, you will thank me. It is on Argyle Street where Harrington dead ends at Argyle.

Yelp
This is a great weekend destination, especially if you have friends visiting from out of town. The stalls are pretty standard, so I wouldn't suggest going every weekend but you can find anything and everything here. From clothes and jewelry to fun Australian trinkets and food, I would definitely recommend as a place for a quick stroll.

Yelp
If you work near by and looking for something a bit different to do on your lunch break, you should visit The Rocks Markets which are held each Friday. If you are really close the smell from the food stalls should be enough to get your mouth watering and down there in no time! It seems this day plenty of people have decided to come by and the place is buzzing. There is even a live band playing some acoustic tunes so it's a really good vibe. One of the BBQ stalls seems to be the most popular and if you could smell the aroma you'd know why. If you can't be bothered queuing up or want something else there's plenty to choose from including every markets staple, the Turkish gozleme. There's also fresh bread, fruit & nuts, oils & fragrances, the odd bit of craft and a bonsai stall if you want to purchase yourself a little bonsai plant. Go on, take a long lunch and head down there!

Yelp
Great way to spend an idle Saturday or Sunday. Eclectic mix of sellers. Live music. Very entertaining. Bought some lovely pashminas. Also snatched up some cool wax infused food covers, reusable. Lots of tourist stuff too--just not my kinda stuff. Lemonade stands. Unique art.

Yelp
Been to the Rocks markets a few times. Its a pretty cool market but can get a bit touristy. There are some cool stands with different fun little gadgets and funky clothes. There are also some cool food stands. My favorite is the Gozleme, so yummy! They also have glazed nuts and once I got this weird but yummy frozen hot chocolate.
google avatar

Yelp
We loved these markets, in such a great location and there is lovely vibe. Locally made and reasonably priced. We had a great Steak sandwich here! Its very busy and there was no parking (that we could see) close by. We came by bus and walked another time.

Yelp
I have been to the Rocks Markets few times. Really like on Friday night to get some nice cheap food and walk around and see the stalls. There is always some live music too.

Yelp
As a tourist in Sydney, this is a must-do. The stalls are fabulous, lots of food choices, and great live music! You can even get on the Harbour Bridge from here for a quick work out after eating all that food or hop on the boat and head towards Manly!

Yelp
The Rocks is quite an enchanting area and the weekend markets make it more appealing. The stalls change frequently and what you've seen a couple of months ago, may be replaced by another local seller. So, it's definitely worth visiting The Rocks Markets every other weekend.. I especially love the Corn stall and even when I'm not hungry, I queue up for it. The buttery goodness on freshly roasted corn with salt or pepper is too good to skip.. Lookout for artworks as you could choose from lots of paintings of the same gorgeous harbour captured during different times of the day. Good Music continues playing, the mood is festive and the market stalls offer variety. All this against the background of Sydney's harbour, Gorgeous!

Yelp
Positives: * Spectacular views of Sydney Harbour * Locally made products * Reasonably priced * Lots of interesting things to look at * A great range of products * Held every Saturday and Sunday, unlike other markets which are held once a month or only every Saturday. * You can source many one-off pieces from here * Delicious food stalls Negatives: * Parking is not really an option Other Notes: * Main street is closed off to traffic

Yelp
This is an enjoyable market, with a good range of quality items, particularly the hand-made jewellery and fashion. Several designers sell their collections here and they are good. There's art wares and food stalls too, with a range of cafes, restaurants and bars, even displays and museums, so you could spend several hours here without much difficulty. The access and terrain is easy so anyone with a pram or wheelchair will be fine to get around. The market doesn't cover expansive ground either, it's all well contained, so everything is easy. It's good.

Yelp
Good for the international tourist with quality product to remember Sydney and or one's Australian holiday. Great if you need to grab the last minute gift too but otherwise not edgey like Paddington. What does deserve 5stars is the boiled corn vendor at the start of the markets. Brushed with melted butter and salt sprinkled over corn on the cob is a gorgeous way to keep hunger at bay!
