19 Best Tours in Rome

"This English-speaking tour will take you to some of Rome's most popular bars, including Trastevere's Freni e Frizioni, with stop offs to major attractions along the way. Plus, company founders Sean and Brandon are always quick to offer tips on the best spots for gelato or pizza in the city as you pass by for that next negroni. It’s actually a fantastic way to experience life in Rome with locals—far more relaxing that spending time trying to avoid tourist traps." - Erica Firpo, Maresa Manara

Great Vatican tour experience. We also had a great time and very informative during the arena floor of Coloseum and forum tour. Both tours had great and informative guides that greatly enhanced the experience better than if we had been on our own. Special shout out to Hirai our Vatican tour guide and Michele our Coliseum tour guide!

Rome in a Day was everything we hoped for—an exhilarating, fast-paced introduction to the Eternal City. Monica was exceptional, skillfully guiding us through the bustling streets and iconic landmarks while sharing insightful facts and captivating historical stories. Her ability to keep our group together amid the crowds was impressive. Be prepared for a full day of walking, but if you're looking to experience the highlights of Rome in one unforgettable sweep, this is the way to do it! I appreciated the tour ending in the Colosseum as well. We then took our time exploring before walking back to our Hotel.

Yamuna, our tour guide, was outstanding! She patiently corralled our group of 18 and led us smoothly through the Vatican Museums and St Peter’s Cathedral to visit all the key sights in spite of the overwhelming crowd. The Sistine Chapel was a highlight, and navigating through the back door passage from the Sistine Chapel allowed us to swiftly enter St Peter’s without standing in another long line. Yamuna was very knowledgeable, easy to understand, and made an effort to connect with all of us. I highly recommend this tour and Yamuna as a GREAT tour guide.

A long walk that fulfilled all expectations. Even during the Jubilee-we were able to see so much in just 1 day! Our guide was so full of knowledge - so much more than what we learned from history books. If you want to walk the streets as those in history walked them - book this tour with the Roman Guy Tours!

We booked an 8 hour walking tour of Rome for September 8, 2025. Our tour guide, Enza B, was exceptionally knowledgeable! We learned that she was an high school history teacher and archaeologist who previously worked at Pompei. She was conscientious about time and offered hints for viewing. I’m not giving away her secret for getting a great photo of Trevi Fountain.Take the tour to find out! She also was happy to take photos of us. It was warm - 89 F and we had people unable to finish the tour due mostly to poor fitness. We felt bad about that, but it was a walking tour and some participants were elderly, had a cane, or very overweight therefore it proved too hard to carry on with the tour. The total walking was about 2.5 miles and there was way more information and history than I will remember. Highly recommend Enza and an all day walking tour of Rome with The Tour Guys!

We had a wonderful experience using the Roman Guy Tours. The bus to Pompeii and the Amalfi coast was very nice and our guide was great. When we got to Pompeii the tour was really interesting and she really knew her facts! I thought it was one of the best deals of our Italy trip!! It was so nice to have everything taken care of and to have the opportunity to so easily visit Pompeii and the coast.

If you've never been to the Vatican before and have a short amount of tine in Rome, shell out the cash for this tour! We went on the Vatican tour with Sistine chapel and the dome of St Peter's with Maria. She was an excellent guide who knew her way around and was able to point out very interesting facts. You know how some guides can bloviate about tedious information? Not Maria! She kept everyone engaged and moved the tour along so we could see everything. The tour let's you bypass the horrendous line for the Vatican Museums. Maria got us into the Sistine Chapel and parked us right underneath "Creation of Man." It was something else.

We had a tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum on June 8th with our guide, Irene. Somehow, it ended up being just my wife and me with this amazing guide. Irene was incredibly knowledgeable—not only about the architecture and history of these ancient sites, but also about the broader history of Rome and the political and religious context that shaped the city. To be honest, we were hesitant going into it, especially after enduring a long-winded tour the previous day. But Irene was so personable, engaging, and insightful that we were genuinely disappointed when the tour ended after three hours.
