The 7 Best Hostels in Rome (Updated 2025)

"Located a 10–15 minute walk from major sites like the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Colosseum, this hostel makes it easy to meet people with abundant common space, a pub and beer garden, and organized social areas. Each bed has an individual lamp, USB charger, plug, and shelf; bunks are sturdy with thick mattresses and built-in lockers, and there’s a kitchen for self-catering as well as family-sized private rooms." - Matthew Kepnes

Great location and social atmosphere - fun common room, hostel pasta dinners and karaoke nights! This was my second time staying here and I made another amazing group of friends. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Beds were comfortable but top bunk was a tiny bit creaky. Big lockers underneath the beds. Good sized kitchen that is a great place to chat with others. Free and easy luggage storage before check-in. Within walking distance of the main sites. Will definitely return again next time! Thanks for a lovely stay :)

Clean room, close to Metro & Termini and most of all, great friendly staff. Recently, we stayed here for 4 nights. They have a breakfast buffet which is a really good deal. Lot's of daily activities like free walking tour, pizza making and even karaoke nights. Nice outdoor and common space for the guest. On our way way to the airport, we forgot one of our luggage. I called the hostel and immediately arranged a taxi to make sure our luggage will get there on time. Thanks to the guest that turn in our luggage and the Filipina staff that made everything smooth and peace of mind that we will get back our luggage before our flight. Highly recommended hostel in Rome. 👍

A wonderful place to stay in Rome — I highly recommend it! The place is clean, well organized, calm, and perfectly located. The staff are absolutely adorable: incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. The rooms were spotless, very comfortable, and very affordable, which made the stay even better. Overall, everything was perfect — clean rooms, great value for money, amazing staff, and a lovely social atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Rome!

Warm, welcoming staff, and clean rooms. Terrifically located, walking distance to the colosseum! Would definitely recommend to come here - I personally would come back again to The RomeHello and to Rome. Fabulous service, warmest, most attentive staff, they also employ people with varied abilities which is beautiful work to empower, enable employees of all kinds. I stayed 4 nights at a mixed dorm and everyone I met was always super respectful, mindful with sound, light, etc. I had no prob having a good night sleep which anyone would need for an energy-demanding Rome visit especially during summer time. Great breakfast buffet!!! Lovely kitchen and common area, air conditioning is fabulous, water power absolutely strong. You are in good hands. :) The staff Jacob is from Rome local and was super welcoming and we chatted about traveling experiences. Everywhere super walkable!

This place was great! We opted for a private room with private bathroom. The shared kitchen was very well equipped and very clean. The laundry machines were clean and efficient. They automatically add detergent, so no need to bring your own. Location is a short walk to the train station, and to any of the must see places like the Spanish steps etc. rooms were quiet and the bed was comfy. Could not figure out how to get the towel warmer to work, but it didn’t really bother me

Very nice staff! My room was okay, the toilet flush sometimes didn‘t work. Location is perfect, price, of course a bit higher than other hostels. Still worth it, 5 stars.

Google
Nice hotel, good location, comfortable rooms, but there is a lot of noise every morning and we were woken up. Either someone is doing floor maintenance and hammering, or someone is shouting through loudspeakers, or there is generally some other kind of noise. Every morning we were woken up by noise, not on our own

We LOVED the RomeHello. The rooms were lovely and clean. Ours had a queen bed and a set of bunks for our boys plus a private bathroom. The common area was great to hang out in and we did the carbonara cooking class which was a lot of fun. The best thing about the place was the friendly staff

Yelp
Rooms were very nice including en-suite bathrooms and staff was incredible - very helpful and called a cab for me this morning to the airport. Free drink upon arrival at the nearby pub but only beer or soft drink. I liked the cooking class I went to and it was a great deal for €8. Oddly though only 3 people came - it wasn't a very social hostel which could be a plus or a negative depending on your preference. It was a massive hostel and didn't seem to be at occupancy, and yet in my 4 person dorm the hostel didn't put me with a single woman over two nights. The first night it was 2 men and last night it was myself and 3 men. I'm aware that I booked a mixed dorm but imo hostel staff should try their best to avoid situations where a woman is isolated. This isn't the hostel's fault but one of my roommates was also terribly inconsiderate - letting his alarm ring endlessly in the morning & taking exorbitantly long showers etc. Location was fine, maybe a 15 minute walk or so from anything worth seeing or doing. Would I stay again? Hard to say because I hated Rome lol. Maybe.

Yelp
Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find the rooms larger than what we expected. The people were very friendly. Everything was very clean. Well, after a long day of roaming around Rome, we settled in for a good nights rest, but didn't get one. The beds are awful. They are hard as a rock. If the beds were comfortable, I would've actually given this place five stars but a hotel is to get a good nights sleep and you can't do that here.

Yelp
Best hostel I have stayed at, honestly felt like a hotel. We got a room with 4 twin beds for only $43 USD per person each night. Very reasonable prices and very comfortable place to stay in a good location accessible by walking and transit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. 5/5!
