"If you were a fan of Ronald Reagan, you can drink to his honor in his final resting place at the Reagan Presidential Library. If you weren’t a fan of Ronald Reagan, you can drink to the fact that he is dead, also in his final resting place. There’s truly something for everyone at the Ronald Reagan Irish Pub within the presidential library. And if you traveled a long way to visit, the pub probably traveled even farther. Toward the end of his first term, then-president Reagan and his wife, Nancy, made a diplomatic trip to Ireland to not only bolster ties between the two countries, but also to pay ancestral homage.  With his father orphaned at a young age, Reagan spent much of his life unfamiliar with his paternal lineage. He later learned that his great-grandfather had been born in Ballyporeen, County of Tipperary. He made it a point on his visit to stop into the small village and pay his respects, and the couple was welcomed with the utmost Irish hospitality. “Thanks to you and to the efforts of good people who have dug into the history of a poor immigrant family,” said Reagan, “I know at last whence I came. This has given my soul a new contentment and it is a joyous feeling. It is like coming home after a long journey.” Love him or hate him, he was an orator for the ages.  The goodwill visit became a media spectacle, with Reagan shaking many hands and even kissing a baby named after his wife. Longtime pub-owners John and Mary O’Farrell went as far as to rename their O’Farrell’s Pub “The Ronald Reagan Pub” to mark his visit. When the O’Farrells shuttered their bar’s doors in 2004, there was only one place for the pub to live on. After the interior was dismantled and shipped to Southern California, the O’Farrells themselves followed shortly thereafter for the grand reopening of Reagan’s pub in his presidential library. Today, the Ronald Reagan Pub sits under the broad wings of Reagan’s retired Air Force One plane within his Southern California museum. Visitors can choose from a selection of premade salads and sandwiches, fudge made in the library’s kitchen, and, of course, a selection of beer and wine. You do need to pay admission to the museum to visit the pub; however, you don’t need to agree with Reagan’s policies to enjoy a Guinness at this storied watering hole." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Recently we visited the Auschwitz exhibition at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. With the phrase “Not Long Ago” “Not Far Away” as a follow up from our visit to Berlin. It sure it is not far away. The exhibition is so vast and complete with the trains that transported people. I was so sad to see it. I must confess I didn’t get the strength to finish. I waited for my husband in the cafeteria.

Politics aside ...it's a great museum for a slice of American history. Great visiting exhibits. Just did Da Vinci Exhibit. Mind blowing. Gorgeous 360 degree views.

Yelp
This vintage pub was first visited by Reagan while visiting his ancestral homeland in Ballyporeen, Ireland in 1984. The family who originally owned it, the O'Farrell's, renamed it The Ronald Reagan in his honor. When the family closed it in 2004, it was shipped, along with original memorabilia, to the Reagan Library. The Ronald Reagan Pub is a cool little spot for snacks, a sandwich or salad, tea, soft drinks, beer and coffee - The Gipper's Roast by Jones Coffee Roasters! You'll be sitting in the banquet area practically below the majestic Air Force One with panoramic views of the rolling hillsides of Simi Valley. You can almost imagine Reagan galloping by on a beloved horse. Smithwick's Ale is the beer to get while you're here. It's what Reagan had while visiting the original pub in all its Irish glory. Nothing on tap here though, so the bottled version will have to suffice. There's also homemade fudge which I was tempted by and I'll have to try the next time. We all know that Ronnie had a sweet tooth! Mom and I noshed on a shared tuna sandwich, Miss Vickie's Salt & Vinegar Chips, a Starbucks Frappuccino and a Smithwick's Ale for me. Museum members receive a member discount on all but the alcohol and our total came out to $20.63. Not bad for museum snacks. They have nice traveling exhibits here and we will be back soon for Da Vinci (5/24/19 - 9/8/19). Maybe I'll have the Gipper's Roast and some fudge with a side of jellybeans... Yelp
I am absolutely floored at the quality of BBQ coming out of the Ronald Regan library. I'm usually a harsh critic of BBQ as it's been a center part of my life, but the smoked brisket is definitely a 10/10, and the pulled pork is a 9/10. If you're looking for excellent BBQ in the area, this is worth a stop. Surprisingly.

Yelp
Wow! Usually food at a museum, zoo, or other entertainment location is just ok and expensive. The food at this imported, real Irish pub was outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and at a great value was outstanding. We wish this location was more convenient so that we could come more often. The employees were all very friendly and informative. Thanks to the management team for a memorable experience!

Yelp
A simple pub along the tour. We had a drink and toasted to friendship and a great president. It is all about convenience here. Everything is self service. I noted that they had rice krispy treats and jelly belly jelly beans.

Yelp
Located inside the Ronald Regan Presidential Library. Halfway through your tour, this themed Irish pub is a good quick bite to eat spot and an alternative from the Reagan Country Cafe. I thought the green napkins they provide here were pretty cool. They appear to look like premium napkins you see at an actual pub. Inside what's sold are salads, bottled beers, sodas, coffee, and impulse snacks. Everything is self serve, the pizzas, hotdogs and burgers are kept in a warmer. So it's a grab and go process before getting checked out at cashier booth. "Pepperoni Pizza" ($7.50) this simple personal size is kept in a container. The pizza is chewy for the most part and it tastes like it was baked in the oven. What I didn't like is, the cheese topping was a little dry towards the end crust. You can't really expect much from this choice. "BBQ Chicken Salad" ($9.95). This salad is pre-packed. It's a good portion lettuce, I liked the addition of the corn, black beans and mozzarella cheese. This is always a safe choice at touristy spot like these, so its decent. I just wish it came with an extra container of BBQ sauce. Both choices aren't bad at all. Only that they are in touristy expensive prices. Also, to add to the Reagan experience, I grabbed a bottle of "Leninade" for a communist price of $4.50. This soda is a combination of lemon, cherry and grapefruit. Personally, I'd pass on it the next time. But if you like fun sweet carbonated drinks, this is for you. There's plenty of seating just outside Reagan's Pub. Lots of round tables, a partial view of the valley while you're seated and how cool it is to hangout on the same floor with the Air Force One?

Yelp
(Snacked 02/23/14 SU @ 2:30pm): A tip of my bottled Smithwick's Irish Ale to the greatest U.S. president of my generation thus far. This one was for you, Gipper! Located on the grounds of The Ronald Reagan Presidential [Foundation &] Library on the 1st floor of the Air Force One Pavilion about one hour into the museum tour, The Ronald Reagan Pub was one of two places where visitors were able to grab something to eat. But this was more than simply a self-service quick snack shop...oh no, it had a charmed story to boot. The history of this Irish pub dated back some thirty years ago to 1984 when then-President Reagan and wife Nancy visited the land of his ancestors in Ballyporeen, County Tipperary, Ireland, and stopped at what was then O'Farrell's Pub and enjoyed a pint with the town's folks. Flash-forward to June 2004 - the same month Reagan past away - a fateful journey was made back to Ballyporeen only to see that the pub had since been closed down. Arrangements were made to purchase the pub, everything in it, and had it transplanted here as an "live" exhibit. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GcPFumgqZlu-lejhaQe3mg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Today, visitors to the museum walked through this bit of history and grab a bite or drink as I did, so here was what I had: Smithwick's Irish Ale ($5.95), Leninade Soda ($3.25), Chocolate Vanilla Swirl Fudge ($6.95) - Shame they couldn't serve the Smithwick's from a tap, but it was still all good. I bought Leninade strictly for the bottle as it was hilarious, while the drink itself was more line a Orange Crush. The fudge was divine, thick, and I felt it was a bargain at this price! http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Service - There was one stocker and cashier, so it took some time to get through the line (I believed there was only one register, too). Sadly, some people got fed up and left. I really wasn't that much in a hurry so I was fine with that. Again, it was self-service so you grabbed what you wanted and proceeded to the register. One recommendation: provide bags should visitors purchased souvenir items like fudge or Jelly Bellys; after all, the signage encouraged to "Buy Four boxes and Get Fifth Box FREE", but you didn't want to carry these around in your purse! http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=cRwRTaa5Bb90S9yDTlMNsA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Parking (free) - a decent-sized private lot, but if that got filled-up (it did for me), then you parked all along the long and winding road that led up to the museum and they offered a easy shuttle service that constantly ran while the museum was open. Atmosphere, décor, ambience - Akin to a small airport mini-mart, It was tight quarters as you made your way through the basically one directional "pub" on your way to the register. There was a double-sided center section that held a couple shelves of pre-packaged snacks. As you entered, on your left was a counter area other snacks, in front of you were a couple see-through refrigerators that held chilled items such as desserts, sandwiches, salads, and drinks. Along the right was the actual mahogany bar with original barstools and drinking glasses, and then you exited. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ufhXJnHWBW8jEcqeRPEu-g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw All the original decorations and signage are hung with care on the walls. There was plenty of seating outside the the store. Both electric and natural lighting were prevalent. There were no TVs or background music. Attire - Totally casual, so I would usually be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, after you took in all the memorabilia of The Ronald Reagan Pub, you were then left with a fanciful "quickie mart" with a limited selection of snacks. But from what I could tell, the prepared food looked good. However, you had some kitschy souvenir snack items with a special Reagan Library logo sticker that seemed forced at best. I found fairly good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (total bill was around $17.00; no tip required), which was actually decent for a museum, I mean, I personally wasn't expecting too much although the term "pub" was used way too loosely. And, although they accepted credit cards, not mine of choice...AMEX! 3.5 STARS

Millea B.

Yelp
The little shop is by the Air Force One. It's good to stop and rest here. It's a good half way point for the museum. The tables needed a little attention. The shop has minimal offerings but is good in a pinch. The staff are very friendly.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! The customer service was stellar, I mean they are true superstars. I was here for a work event. My bosd wanted to recruit them they were so great. We had a basic sandwich lunch but the bread was fresh and soft and so was all the meat and toppings. It was an amazing sandwich I was shocked. It gets better though. They brought out nachos, sliders, salad and fish & chips. Wowzers!! I never realized how good museum food can be but believe me. It was delicious. They also have a bar. Oh, and the view. Inside your under an air force one. The Windows are ceiling to floor as well as Th ere is an outside terrace of the most breath taking view. I mean the view alone is worth going. The amazing museum and awesome food are bonus points. It's a must eat place. *Please excuse typos. Thank you

S Alicia S.

Yelp
This place is sooo not a pub. Sandwiches are prepared and refrigerated or there's pizza, burgers and hot dogs sitting in hot lights. There's baked goods, candy, beer, nuts,..... It's a convenience store for lunch inside the museum. A real pub in there would be fun. A touch meow even. I'm just saying.... my ready-made lunch was actually, surprisingly.... terrific. However, it's still not a pub.

Brandon Z.

Yelp
I guess it's cool that it was "imported" from Ireland.....but it's not really a functioning bar. Would be so much cooler if it was. No functioning taps, you can't actually sit at the bar (there's just a large cooler with about 4 or 5 different beers to choose from inside of it), and for food there's some pre-made sandwiches and bags of chips. Think about how cool it would be if you could actually sit at this bar, enjoy a cold beer straight from the tap, order some fish and chips....bummer. I think The Gipper would have higher expectations! Museum was great though.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
In keeping with the library, the pub also has tidbits of historical facts plastered around it. The line moves quickly, the food is great and the price is reasonable. Plenty of seating and a great view of the Simi Valley mountains. Would definitely recommend as lunch when doing the library tour. Clean and staff is kind and helpful.

Tina O.

Yelp
Great food, awesome view, fantastic day out! Do not miss! We ordered the short rib sliders and a turkey sandwich- both delicious! Good selection of beers an wines to choose from.

Ann Q.

Yelp
Overpriced, of course. But charming and they have delicious cookies and a variety of treats. A nice little break spot in the Ronald Reagan Museum :)

Yelp
Actual pub bright back to Simi Valley by President Reagan on a visit to Ireland. Very cool to have a brew under Air Force One!
