What To Do in Shibuya: Our Guide

"The Room is expertly concealed behind a green wrought iron fence you'd probably miss if you weren't looking for it. Here a spiral staircase descends below street level to The Room itself, seemingly excavated from the asphalt as an afterthought. The inside feels stripped down and industrial, but accented by a mishmash of styles." - Davey Young

I was looking for chill live music venues and a lucky Bing Chat search result pulled up this option. It was a bit difficult to find as it was on the corner of a densely packed street and down a staircase below street level which made it difficult for Google maps to show accurately. Super chill and low key vibe. Good bar space to venue ratio with a nook for the performance area. Good range of drinks with beer, sake, shochu and simple cocktails available. My gin and tonic was particularly good. Their website lists what bands or acts are playing that night and we got lucky with seeing Under the Willow Nite which was a great and chill show.

This is almost like creating new music scenes and culture in Tokyo. The location and every events they're launching are chill!! You can enjoy DJ events with having drinks and snacks. There is music event schedule online or freepaper. If it's summer time, you can sit outside and can enjoy music at open space.

One of the best venues in Tokyo! So good I went twice. Music both times was Nu-Jazz and a little bit of house music, a very vibey local and friendly crowd also. I’ll be back!

Great bar for when you want something lower-key than the club but more lively than a pub or izakaya. Paid 1000yen cover for both men and women. When I went the music was funky and the crowd was pretty cool - people were up for both conversation and dancing.

The most important place for Japans Club Jazz scene owned and directed by the legendary Syuya Okino of Kyoto Jazz Massive. Lots of good DJs. They do good drinks.

Just heard Yukari BB here. She played a fantastic set. The crowd was fantastic. The bar staff and door crew are super friendly. Everybody was there to have a good time. Venue is cash only so come cashed up. Prices seem reasonable. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The ROOM is small and hidden Club with 3min walk from Shibuya station. It's ownered by Shuya Okino (Kyoto Jazz Massive). Music flavor is usually crossover, jazz, house, funk. Very famous DJs sometimes come and play here. COOL!
