The Rose

Good food let down by glum and careless service. We came for a birthday lunch having visited years ago and loving it. It's changed and not in a good way. We were only given set lunch menus when we went up and specifically asked for them. There was no 'warm welcome' in fact I don't think we got a smile from either of the waiting staff for the duration of the meal. When we ordered we were then told a starter wasn't available. It's pretty standard to advise diners about availability of dishes at the beginning! The glass of wine ordered to accompany my main only arrived after a second reminder and as I was finishing. It was plonked down with no apology whatsoever. We decided not to stay for pudding or coffee. Wish we hadn't paid the 12.5% service charge. Much friendlier and welcome cafe across the road at 'Hope & Lane'.

Excellent location for exploring Deal. Tiny room (room 9) but well laid out. Friendly staff. Very nice restaurant. Bed side lamps not individually controllable. Lovely en suite shower. Wooden floor boards carried noise substantially.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at The Rose at the start of December 2025 for her birthday and we had a lovely time. I first booked the stay in October, and when they later launched their 'Winter Warmer' deal, Kymberly was so helpful in letting me cancel and re-book to take full advantage. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite with a birthday note and chocolate. The room was obviously much bigger than the one we were expecting and beautifully decorated. Tea and coffee station on the landing is a cute touch! We ate at the restaurant downstairs for dinner as part of a 3 course meal included in our stay and were blown away by the quality. Coming from London, we've paid a lot more for a lot less. Breakfast in the morning was equally as good!||Similar to other reviews, we also found that the noise in the morning to be quite loud, especially our room which looks onto the high street. There were some earplugs provided in the room though, so the noise didn't bother us that much.||One thing to note is Deal is very quiet on a Monday and Tuesday - especially in the winter! It seems most shops, bars and restaurants close on these days, so just something to be aware of before you book.||We'd definitely stay here again, perhaps in the summer to make the most of the coast!

A true boutique hotel, very snazzy indeed - as reflected in its prices. (A very rare treat for us.) Achingly on-trend. In its way a luxurious, beautiful gem, a sort of piece of architectural, decorative and culinary performance art. Pleasant staff. Ultimately disappointed in the detail, in the small things which prevent an honest 5 star review: dusty chest of drawers, scalding hot water, loose bathroom door handle, wobbly patio table; and a surprising lack of empathy from the owners when we had to check out a day early due to my poor health (prostate cancer).

Such a great find!! Rooms were really pretty and had everything we needed. Loved free tea and cake at 3-5pm, delicious breakfast! Would 100% recommend. Lovely staff too. The only thing - and it is out of the hotel’s hands - is the church bell…it rung every single hour through the night which meant we woke up every hour!! Not what we needed for a rare precious night away from the kids! Apparently there are some rooms which the noise isn’t so bad so check with the staff before you book…they did provide 1 set of ear plugs - only mistake of the hotel is not to provide 2 sets! (I can’t remember but I think we were room 6)

Lives up to the 5 star reviews. Such polite staff and outstanding meals served. They promptly sent two ultra soft pillows to my room. Quiet property.

Could do with some acoustic panels as it can be a bit boomy when busy. Foods good, if a wee bit expensive - but hey ho isn't everywhere nice - staff are fantastic and drinks are good👌

Excellent restaurant. The Rose really surprised me in the best way. Service was warm and friendly. Just genuinely nice staff who made the evening feel easy and relaxed. I went for the courgette rice dish and it was absolutely delicious fresh, light, but packed with flavour. You could tell the ingredients were top quality and the chef actually cares about what they’re serving. What really stood out, though, was the balance of it all fine dining presentation and flavours without it being too pricey. All in all, a great evening.
