A simple menu but beautifully prepared. The food is delicious. We had a vegetarian platter and the lentil & ratatouille starter. Everything was delicious. The mashed potatoes are the best I’ve had and the ratatouille so flavoursome and fresh. Apologies my photo is a half eaten plate 😊. I was too busy eating the delicious food to take a pic.

Genuinely one of our best meals in Nice! Warm, cozy, friendly staff, simple but delicious food…it feels like you’re in someone’s living room. The roast chicken was phenomenal, falling off the bone and full of flavour! Honestly this spot is a gem - you’ve got to go. @marlysmunchies

Wow! One of our favorite restaurants of our trip. Everything was delicious! Gluten free options available with staff members knowledgeable about it. Staff also speak good English. Located in an alleyway in old town of Nice.

Google
We were looking for a real home made Niçoise cuisine, and we got it! We loved it, the service was outstanding, the food was great, definetly we made a good choice. Since we were a large group, we were located on the basement. I saw a review that it was moldy ambient back then, I think it got much better. Highly recommended if want a home made dish.

Google
Excellent restaurant for roast meats. Great value, perfectly cooked with good choice of side dishes. Great friendly service from Mamadou too!

Google
Very good food. I had veal meat for the first time and was very satisfied. I had it with baked potatoes. Service was also very nice and I appreciate the free water. I would definitely come again.

Google
Food was very good and tasty, good value for the price! They even offer a vegetarian platter (a plate of all of the side dishes, which is ratatouille, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, and salad), which I can fully recommend. The food is quite oily, but that's what makes it so good! The staff was a little rude and not very attentive. But we would come a again :)

Google
Amazing restaurant!! My brother and I were in the search for ratatouille and found some great reviews about La Rossetisserie online. We decided to check it out and are so happy we did, the food and vibes were amazing. I had the chicken and he had the pork, both cooked to perfection and was to die for!! Highly recommend.

Yelp
100% recommend. The downstairs looked like an old wine cellar and was very cool. Staff was friendly. Food was EXCEPTIONAL. My husband got the multi meat platter and raved about it, I got the veggie plate and it was the best I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were insanely good. The red wine I had was exceptional, too.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Food that feels uniquely French yet like home. We got the sausage and shrimp cocktail starters. Both we great but the eggplant "caviar" stood out as the winner. For the mains we got the chicken with ratatouille and the roast beef with mashed potatoes. Again, delicious. Only complaint would be that the chicken sat in the oven a bit long in the oven and was a tad dry, but then the skin was extra crispy so we weren't sad. We have been to Nice many times and this trip, this is the first place that stood out as a real food experience. Make a reservation. Eat here.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad we chose to try it. In the four days we were in the area, we visited twice :) The options for food are simple, essentially your choice of meat and a side. I will add, however, that the second time we ate here, we were sat downstairs in the basement (?) Had a cave-like vibe and look. I don't know if it's because we were underground or what, but it smelled like chlorine almost .. :(

Yelp
Walked by and didn't have a reservation but the waitress found a spot for me. This place is very unpretentious but the food was amazing. I had the half chicken which sold out after I ordered. The chicken was so tender and flavorful due to the herbs. The staff was warm. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Un toate bun mix grill de porc, vită i miel. Cartofii la cuptor au fist foarte gustoi.

Yelp
Decent vegetarian unfriendly spot. We made a reservation online which seemed necessary when we got there. Communal seating and also side two person tables. The menu is simple and to the point: meat and side. A few appetizers are available. We got the duck terrine which was decent. Then the mix grill which is roast duck, pork, veal, and lamb. Also an extra order of veal with ratatouille. Not bad. With wine it was a decently priced meal at 52€. Nothing to write home about but perhaps it's worth it for the lamb. All the other meat was tres bien.

Yelp
After spending many days in France eating mostly bread, I was really craving a meal of substance. Heard this place was the real deal for a homestyle Provencal meal. 1/2 chicken and ratatouille...all perfectly done. I really must applaud the ratatouille - it had such wonderful flavor and right balance of spices to oil. I sat in the basement room- cool, cozy, quiet-and watched locals quickly fill in throughout the evening, despite that I got there at open. The speculoos tiramisu was nice, but I could have passed (but I am a dessert snob). Definitely enjoy your meal with wine. The service was very attentive and kind, and made sure I always had water and bread. Highly recommend. Make a reservation, or get there right at opening! Sometimes the communal table is reserved for large parties of locals.

Yelp
I ordered the roast lamb with ratatouille and for dessert the pitaschio creme brûlée. The lamb was tender and juicy however my vegetables were cold. Not sure if it's supposed to be serve that way. I ordered the pitaschio creme brûlée upon the servers recommendation, it was ok. Service and staff are awesome! The chef made rounds to make sure all was good.

Yelp
This was my favorite dinner spot in Nice. I loved it so much I ate here twice during my short stay. I stumbled across La Rossettisserie when I couldn't get reservations at a nearby restaurant. It's a quaint rotisserie bistro in the center of Old Town. The menu is simple and is written out on a blackboard on the wall. The general gist is that you choose one roasted meat option with one vegetable. There are appetizers and desserts in addition. I thoroughly enjoyed the roast beef each time, which was flavorful and not at all dry. I love my beef on the rare side and this didn't disappoint. It was perfection. For my vegetable, I chose the roasted potatoes the first time and the ratatouille the second time. I also ordered a lovely eggplant dip with shrimp for my appetizer. It was a bit on the bland side, but it was still good. For dessert I had the most lush pistachio crème brulee. The prices are very reasonable. The service was great and the English speaking staff were friendly and welcoming. The first time, I was seated at a communal table around other diners and we all had a great time getting acquainted. The second time, I was sat at my own table. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Beef and lamb is amazing. Ratatouille is a must-try. We've missed this cute restaurant since we left Nice:)

Caroline R.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Very flavorful, friendly staff. Would definitely go back. I went with the lamb and ratatouille, initially I was just looking for a good dinner and I a stared at the menu the server guided me through it- sounded convincing enough. Say outside and the meal was amazing.

Yelp
My family and I (4 adults) made a reservation the night prior. We were really excited to try this place because we heard great reviews. We often split meals (especially when traveling when we have no use for leftovers). They made big fuss about splitting plates which wouldn't be an issue if they had made note when we made the reservation or if it was on the menu (which it was not). We ended up trying the pork and beef along with sides of roasted potatoes, salad, and baked potatoes. We really wanted to try the chicken but it was all sold out by the time of our reservations at 8 pm. All the food was good. The one thing that slightly ruined the experience was the waitresses' attitude. I would recommend the place for the food but beware that you will have to order your own plate and may have less than ideal service.

Yelp
Wonderful rotisserie restaurant in the old town section of Nice! Tasty food and tastefully decorated place - combined with my very helpful waiter - provided an outstanding first meal in Nice. Like a previous reviewer, I had no reservation late on a Friday night - just patiently waited a few minutes for a table to become available (but timing is everything: others were turned away after me since I grabbed the last table). I had the pork because the chicken was already gone - in the end, that was no problem because the pork was OUTSTANDING (check out the photo)! Roasted potatoes, bread, and a small carafe of wine...welcome to basic French food heaven!

Dora C.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've written a review but I'm doing it for this crew. They had a spectacular roast chicken but it's their sides I must applaud. Mashed potatoes were phenomenal - probably because it was mostly butter... and the ratatouille... absolutely delicious in flavor. Don't be thwarted or discouraged by the owner preventing you from ordering a 1/2 chicken to share. It really doesn't make sense to share a 1/2 an organic, non-American portioned chicken. These chickens are much smaller and reasonable in size so it makes sense for one person to eat 1/2. It's the equivalent of one chicken breast! The owner will not debase his restaurant to bar food. As he claimed, it's not a snack but a meal!

Yelp
We had a nice dinner at La Rossettisserie last night. We made a reservation the day before and got a perfect table right next to the window (though we might not have needed a reservation). The food was simple but very good and the service was great. It seemed as if everyone in the place was a foreigner like us but don't let that deter you, we still had a great time!- One thing, it was a bit hot in there!

Yelp
Sitting here reviewing La Rossettisserie and re visiting my pictures just makes me want to catch the next flight back to Nice. La Rossettisserie is located in Nice's Old Town and receives rave reviews just about anywhere you look. I walked in and asked for a table around 6pm but was told the evening was booked solid, I was however offered a table the following day which satisfied me. Upon returning we were seated in the basement which was simply awesome! Living in a city where basements don't exist it just seemed so warm and cozy! The food here is simple yet delectable, a menu of 5 meats awaited us on the night (chicken, beef, lamb, pork, or veal) and was paired along with some delicious accompaniments. I opted for the lamb and was just blown away! Cooked to perfection it was simply unbelievable. We also enjoyed a great bottle of French Red Wine, suggested by our waiter and the best Creme Brûlée I have probably ever experienced. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for the touristy Old Town and a charming stroll through the narrow streets, back to your hotel, awaits you after dinner. Would love to go back and hopefully will!

Yelp
This was such a disappointment. I raved to my husband and our friend about this restaurant after seeing the menu; I couldn't wait to introduce them to authentic French meals. Per the website's information, I booked a reservation to ensure that we would get a table. When we arrived at the restaurant, the waiting staff and owner didn't see my reservation and questioned the name I left on the reservation. There was a clear miscommunication - which happens - and unfortunately, instead of allowing us to eat at their establishment, the staff continued questioning our reservation. The restaurant opened at 7 and we arrived around 7:15; the restaurant was still completely empty and I couldn't understand why they still insisted on questioning us instead of graciously seating us and allowing us to enjoy their menu. I ended up telling them we would go somewhere else and walked away. My husband and friend's first impression of "the French" was not good and I had to convince them that this was truly the first time I'd ever come across this kind of rudeness and it was not indicative of the French stereotypical culture. What a shame - I really wanted to enjoy this place. Unfortunately, I left embarrassed and confused as to why the staff seemed entirely disinterested in serving us as there was NO ONE in the restaurant.

Yelp
We had: Roast Beef with Mashed Potatoes, Roast Lamb, and Pistachio Creme Brulee. A great roast, extremely homely with communal tables, and reasonably priced. Look no further for something warm to eat, and a welcoming ambience. One of the best meals we've had in Nice.

Jarrod B.

Yelp
This is a great place for a reasonably priced meal in the Old Town of Nice. The downstairs setting with candles adds to the dining experience along with a friendly English speaking staff. The starters are very tasty and the mains are simple yet hardy. Definitely recommended.

Janet C.

Yelp
This place was lovely and very charming. They're small and fills up fast so definitely make a reservation. I got the roasted lamb and my husband got the roasted pork. The meat was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Would also recommend the duck terrine as a starter.

Leslie B.

Yelp
Highly recommended for dinner! My wife and I ate out every day on our vacation in Nice and along the Cote d'Azure and there was no better meal than our dinner here. The menu is limited to a handful of meats and chicken that are roasted to perfection. The sides such as potatoes and veg are also superb. Service is efficient and friendly. The restaurant contains only a few tables. We had to return the next day with a reservation in order to dine here, but it was worth it. Prices were around €13-15 per entree. A memorable experience.

Yelp
I give one star because I have to. WORST Experience ever! We had a reservation at 8 for Two people. the place was crowed; we Order a starter and two main curses. People arrived later and they got their orders; we have to ask for our order and they said the beef run out! I said, ok I will take the other dish but mysteriously the side order was run out either....mmmm the owner/admin treated us really really bad. We really felt discriminated at this place, and never felt that way before anywhere. Such a shame.

Jason J.

Yelp
Tried to go there twice in the last few days and both times as we were walking in they told us they were closed...a full thirty minutes before the posted closing time. For a restaurant that is only open for two hours each day, closing thirty minutes early is pretty huge and discouraging. I don't think I will try again. Be forewarned.

Sal G.

Yelp
Fabulous food, enjoyable atmosphere and wait staff was eager to assist as we only spoke English. The food was delicious and portions were large. I felt like I was eating at my grandmothers table for a holiday event as the roast beef with mashed potatoes was oh so tasty and good. All food is fresh and about 18 Euros for a meat, veggie, and bread. The bread was amazing as you'd imagine being in France. Give it a try and eat outside. Get to know the wait staff and your the people sitting next to you. You won't be disappoint.

H E.

Yelp
This place is really good if you are looking for simple and tasty food! The chicken with mashed potatoes is the best - so good that I ate it several times during our stay in Nice. Great location and great staff. Bon appetit!

Charlie B.

Yelp
I was excited by all of the great reviews. This place is a bargain and serves up solid food, but the basement had a musty smell and the food was pretty basic. Good grilled meats and wonderful side of mashed potatoes but otherwise, I wouldn't steer anyone towards this spot if they were in Nice. And for being in France I would have liked if they slowed dinner down a bit. We were in and out in under and hour with food flying out super fast and no time between our appetizers and entrees. But, if you are on a budget in Nice and craving perfectly grilled meats and a simple dinner then check maybe it is for you.

Yelp
My wife & I were on a Rick Steve's tour in Nice, France, February '13. Our favorite food town in France, so far. Dropped into this very small place for dinner & were lucky to be seated. I forgot what we ordered but it was all very good. Great service & ambience. If we ever get back to Nice this will the first place we have dinner!

Suzin M.

Yelp
We arrived in Nice and had dinner here our first night. It was amazing we got a table on a Friday night without a reservation. I was going to make one when we stopped in and it was just luck they had one table available. The waiter that gave us the table and took care of us was so friendly and enjoyable. He described the menu and was happy to speak with us in English. We are learning French so we are slow to speak with. The food is fantastic all the wait staff was friendly and professional. We enjoyed everything about this place, the food, staff and ambiance. We sat downstairs in the cellar, definitely a vibe. We had the foie gras to start, the poulet et legumes and the roasted pork for mains with a nice bottle of suggested red wine. All divine!

Isabel A.

Yelp
This is really French Cuisine at its best. Wonderful delicious roasted meat in very large quantities, one must say and ratatouille or potatoes as side4dishes, together with exquisite fresh baguettes and a cellar-like ambiente. More locals than tourists here, reasonable prices. Be sure to reserve seats, otherwise it will be difficult, and preferrably at the large table so you can get in touch with other people. Service perfect, my recommendation for Vieux Nice!

Enrico V.

Yelp
The best roast meat restaurant in Nice!! Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, amazing roasted meats from the rotisserie and not expensive! Perfect for couples or bigger groups.

John D.

Yelp
This was my other favorite dinner spot in Nice. They seem to sit the English speakers in the cellar, which actually adds a bit of charm. I had the pork wrapped in bacon and the pannacotta for dessert, and both were stellar. The server spoke conversational English.

Teskia F.

Yelp
I read good reviews on Yelp and in a guide book, but was disappointed. We were seated in a dirty musty basement and selected our food from an assortment of chalkboard menus and table stand menus in English and French. The chicken was ok. The pork was not ok. It was dry and grisly, wrapped in some limp bacon. The mashed potatoes and ratatouille sides were good.
