I stayed with my partner in July. We had a terrible experience in all. The room, however, was lovely. Management were helpful but staff were not. The service at dinner was poor and the shinty bar was in need of a refurb. Breakfast was the worst though. We were down for breakfast at 9:50 and breakfast was apparently served til 10. We were told breakfast was done. I asked if the chef would make us eggs and we waited while the 1 member of staff dealt with other guests complaints about the food for a good 10 min before we were told to take a seat and we could get eggs. No coffee was available and I couldn’t get water because ‘the bar was shut’. My partner walked out after the member of staff told a guest who asked for more toast that breakfast stopped at 10 and they were making her job ‘harder than it had to be’. Honestly spoiled our stay. We checked out and went to a local coffee shop for breakfast instead. It was outstanding.

We’ve been at the Royal an Lochan Hotel for three nights. It’s incredibly nice located. We’ve been at room number one and had a really nice view at the lake. The breakfast is absolutely fabulous. There is a buffet with fresh fruits, cereals, croissants and juices. Coffee is freshly made and we always drink ours with oat milk, which was no problem at all. You can also choose from a breakfast menu different egg specialities. They were all great. The dinner is also extremely good, we had different fish dishes and super delicious starters. Whenever you have an extra wish or a question they help you out. The staff is extremely nice, so we can highly recommend this little hotel and the restaurant. The area is also nice. We went for a hiking trip on one day and spent the other day at the beach.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of our visit to family near Inverness. A delightful hotel and super sea view toward Bute from large bedroom window. A lovely place to sit and unwind.|The communal rooms are all nicely and uniquely decorated. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Our room was not cleaned and tea/coffee etc not renewed on second day but it was not a problem and when mentioned to the manager tea / milk etc was renewed immediately without fuss.|The restaurant again overlooks the sea and the chef Ryan is so enthusiastic about his cooking it made our visit a joy. Good menu choice and the seafood is wonderful. On our second night Ryan cooked a special for us his take on we would call a surf and turf ( he had another name) beautifully cooked and presented, local meat and fish so fresh and great flavours. Good choice of breakfast again all freshly cooked and served by Ryan.|We popped into the Shinty bar, great atmosphere and a chance to meet some locals.|We enjoyed our stay to an area of Scotland we had not been to before and would certainly stop here again.||||

Before I begin, I would like to thank the manager for all her help during our one-night stay. She was terrific and did as much as she could to help us during our visit. We stayed here on the way up to Skye. When we checked in we were given our room unfortunately the shower was leaking and wouldn't turn off. We were moved to another room, which was great and we were pleased. We found the mattress to be a bit too firm for us (I know people prefer different types of mattresses so it is subjective). The food was OK nothing special. We weren't told about the specials of the day (we didn't even know there were any specials on the menu until another waiter told another table). We were the only ones in the Shinty Bar that night probably because it was a Friday night, but it has a good selection of drinks. It rained during the night, so all we could hear was the rain leaking from the gutter and banging onto a skylight window frame on the flat roof on the ground floor, which was very noisy. Breakfast was OK My wife ordered the porridge there was loads of it and it came in a massive bowl. I had the cooked breakfast I asked for Scrambled but it came with fried. We didn't say anything about it and by that stage, we were ready to go, so we finished and checked out.

We spent 4 nights here a couple of weeks ago - after making a last-minute booking. We'd dropped in for coffee several times in the past, so we know the views across the Kyle were superb, but this was our first time staying. Eleanor & Greg gave us a warm welcome, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. Breakfasts were generous and very well cooked, and set us up for each day. We had a couple of evening meals which were also delicious, especially the venison on the night we arrived! Our room was spacious and comfortable, with the only disappointment being the shower, which was described as "over the bath" but was in fact a hand-held spray (albeit, old-world stylish!). If I had know, I would have paid the extra for a room with a walk-in shower - which was available when I booked, but no longer an option by the time we arrived. But how fortunate we were to have almost a week of perfect, sunny hot weather in Argyll in September!

This is a really lovely hotel.Staff work hard to create a warm, attentive and welcoming environment. Rooms are great. We stayed in bedroom 3 which we'd recommend, it has a beautiful view and bathroom. Bed comfy and no noise from other rooms which makes for a restful sleep. We stayed for a week, ate in hotel restaurant every night except for one when we went to The Oystercatcher. I can honestly say that food here was better and very good value. Don't hesitate to come if you want a relaxing break with beautiful views and great food.

Hotel on the edge of Kyles of Bute. Beautiful sea views. Surprisingly good restaurant. Hearty breakfast. Bedrooms have traditional furniture and well appointed bathroom. A great location for folk interested in waters ports and country walks or cycling. Busy during school holidays.

Stayed 2 weekend nights in a sea view room, B&B. We really liked this small hotel which was great. Tastefully decorated and fitted out in an individual style, great sea view very large comfy bed with huge pillows, very powerful shower which unfortunately ran cold on my wife but that's a small inconvenience in the context of everything else being very good. ||Delicious high quality dinner at reasonable price and similarly high quality breakfast- huge Scottish breakfast and plenty of other options.||Service throughout our stay was professional and courteous.||We will definitely be back ||
