The Royal Blue Resort

An immaculate, clean and well presented hotel. All the staff were kind, welcoming and highly customer focused. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a huge choice of food in 4 restaurants, all of a high quality with plentiful choice. ||The hotel has an excellent location, just a 50 min drive from HER airport, with two private Sandy beaches and sheltered coves; ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Each subbed location has a push-button to summon the excellent bar staff to order drinks and snacks. The main pool is huge and the ‘adults only’ pool is quiet and of a good size. ||An excellent spa hotel suited to couples and small family groups. Highly recommended

A really wonderful 7 night stay with my husband. Such a gloriously relaxing atmosphere. The best wonderfully serene and polite reception staff. Generally the staff cannot do enough for you, always smiling and ready to help and answer questions. Too many of them to give a special mention - but a 'big Thank you!' |Even at the end of the season everything spotlessly clean and tidy. Great staff to guest ratio. You have a fantastic choice of adult pool (where we spent a lot of time), a larger sea water pool and the beach with areas to walk and explore. All the sunbed umbrella's have call buttons so you can be lazy and request someone comes a takes your drink order - mine was a Mojito! Also a choice of other restaurants. We went half board which we found enough as we don't eat much so were happy with no lunch. Food in main restaurant varied and tasty. The hotel was fairly full but it always felt like you had plenty of space around you. Good cocktail bar as well. We got a private transfer from the airport and back which was well worth it. We would definitely like to return next year for a longer stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 12 days and enjoyed our vacation in september. Negative: • The basic cleaning standards are not oke, which surprised us since the rest of the hotel is well-maintained. (1) Initially, there were muddy shoe prints left by the cleaning staff in our room. (2) Dirty glasses were rinsed and put back without being properly cleaned; we saw dirty residues at the bottom. Sometimes they weren’t cleaned at all, and dirty glasses remained (3) The cleaner left behind a cleaning cloth in our room, which looked disgusting, smelled bad, and clearly needed replacing—not fresh to use for cleaning. (4) Corners and edges of the room were neglected, with dust and dirt left behind. This was already the case when we arrived. We also never heard a vacuum cleaner being used; they only carried a mop. (5) The cleaning ladies often forgot to clean something, it did not seem like they worked with a list • Food and drink prices were on the expensive side and not in proportion to the quality. • If you’re staying for 12 days and don’t like eggs, breakfast becomes a bit boring, especially as the bread is mediocre. Positive: • The complex and the view are stunning. • Most of the staff are friendly. • It was quiet, so there was always a sunbed available, and no beds were “reserved.” The sunbeds are comfortable. • When we raised complaints about the cleaning with the hotel, they took it seriously, and the manager approached us the next morning. However, you need to be very specific about what needs improvement. While cleaning improved in general, dirty glasses were still just rinsed because we hadn’t explicitly mentioned it and other problems kept occurring during our stay regarding the cleaning… In a 5-star hotel, though, it shouldn’t be necessary to spell out what needs cleaning—they should know this themselves. • A complimentary bottle of water per person was provided daily in the room, which was a relief because water is expensive (€5 for 1 liter). • At breakfast, they offer a wide range of coffee options, including iced coffee. • Thoughtful gestures from the hotel: a welcome drink, a birthday surprise, and a farewell gift. In summary: We enjoyed our vacation, and it’s a very beautiful hotel. However, they really need to improvement the cleaning. If this was better, we would have given it a 5-star rating, but it was not fresh or clean at all and this is a very important part of your vacation, the room should be clean and not smudgy.

This was our second visit to The Royal Blue, having spent a week there at the start of the season. I’m pleased to say that our stay was even better this time around. |Starting with the slight negatives, we still felt that the weak spot in the hotel is the reception staff. They are the face of the hotel - your first point of contact- and we just felt that some staff members were slightly lacking in providing information. They were very quick to refer you to the hotel app - all well and good, but we’d selected this spot for its quiet location with the intention of switching off our phones for a week! |We chose HB as a dining option - food was plentiful and hot each evening but we’d have liked to see more Greek dishes each day. |These were very minor niggles though as the positives far outweighed the negatives. |The location is just idyllic - close to Panormos for an evening out if needed and hiring a car gets you to other places easily . This is not the place for you if you want a lively nightlife but is absolute paradise for those that just want to relax and unwind . |The staff in the restaurant were all young and many had been away from their families for months but were full of smiles . Special mentions to the wonderfully elegant Maria who showed us to our table each day with a smile and a chat , little Katherine who served us with a smile and the very smiley Roka (apologies for spelling these wrong) who recommended wines to us . |The beach was just beautiful and , due to its construction, we were able to swim even on stormy days. The cabanas were an added touch of luxury. |I am however saving the best until last . The person that makes this place a standout 5 * resort is the beach supervisor , Vassilis. In fact he is the sole reason we returned to this resort this year . This man knows how to provide a full 5* service , treating guests like royalty . Nothing was ever too much trouble for him and his small staff . Despite it being the end of the season and his staff had been reduced to just two , his level of service was impeccable. There were times when he was absolutely flat out but he never stopped smiling . On two days he was also manning the bar - he was a jack of all trades and needs special recognition for the great ambassador he is for the hotel . Vassilis we thank you for making our stays so memorable and incredibly special! |We were able to chat to the hotel manager on our last morning . He seems genuinely proud of his hotel and was very open to our suggestions for small improvements which was refreshing! |Royal Blue you have a small piece of our hearts and we’ll hopefully be back - if only to see Vassilis ! :)

My husband and I visited Crete for the first time in early October. The Royal Blue Resort was the perfect place for a quiet and serene stay for us. It’s beautiful and the staff were amazing. Everyone was so nice and we never had any issues. We rented a car because we wanted to drive around the island and we particularly loved Chania in the evenings. The resort is about an hour and 15 minutes from Chania and about an hour from Heraklion, so if you want a quiet stay and don’t plan on leaving much then it’s perfect and has everything you need.

Well the hotel service was lovely and nothing was too much, everyone was competent at there jobs and a jewel in the crown if the hotel. ||The hotel was clean and with a private beach. I will visit again.||We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffet. I love my desserts to more the menu but on the whole the food was great.

My wife and I booked the Royal Blue Resort for our wedding anniversary. They really went above and beyond to welcome us and ensured we had a brilliant stay. They provided us with an anniversary cake and drink on arrival, and upgraded us to a sea view room. All the members of staff and management at the hotel were so friendly and attentive. The lucky room! Have stayed to many of the best hotels worldwide but this one is not just one of the best but the luck it brought me and my boyfriend is abundant! The staff is so kind and friendly, the cleaning staff is out of this world- so immaculate and clean! The front desk staff, as well as literally anyone else is not just kind but reassuring, supportive, welcoming and caring! Don't let me get started on how amazing the suits are, impeccable!!! The food, I swear we have gained roughly 3kg p/p for 7 days! Wanted to stay even longer but had some other responsibilities that we had to take care of in our country! If you are in doubt I hope this review finds you and convinces you to stay in the royal blue hotel! From now on we will be regulars here! Thank you all for everything! See you next year! 💗💗💗
