Friendly reception staff - Thank you Alison for your local knowledge and help. The restaurant was warm and the food was excellent. I had the steak and would thoroughly recommend it! A great thank you to the serving staff especially Margaret Ann who was very friendly and helpful. We had a drink in their bar which had a lovely atmosphere. We stayed for the weekend during Storm Bert in November and had a large room on level 3 (38) which was warm and comfortable. We will stay there again

Had a lovely lunch in this hotel. Very cosy on a cold sunny morning. Really nice staff & atmosphere. Great location beside the water. Spent the afternoon inside waiting for my bus home. Watched football in the pub next door which is part of the hotel.

Untrained young staff who are quite frankly rude and lack the basics of simple training. I'm local, and this week's visit was my last try out of six (I believe in more than 2nd chances), and I'll never go in again and I bring a lot of family and friends who are on holiday. |This visit we sat for 12 MINUTES! with no greeting whatsoever. One waitress was behind the bar and saw us, no acknowledgement. There was a table of eight and two tables of two, middle of the afternoon, so not busy by any means. If they were delayed, all it would have taken was a simple polite hello and we'll be right with you. We walked out. |The other visits have been increasingly on getting my ire up with lack of friendliness. Went in one day for coffee and scones and she said, I have no cups. Excuse me???|When this place opened, it was brilliant with well trained staff and I loved taking people here. The scones are the best in town. This week I have officially given up until I hear from locals that it is good again. I do not like rating a local place like this, but it is getting ridiculous.

The Royal has been our hotel of choice for the last 12 years visiting Campbeltown. Rooms are fantastic. Pub is great. Staff friendly. Great location. Plenty of on street parking.

This is a fantastic hotel and I only wish we'd stayed more than one night. Check in was quick, staff were so friendly and the food in Harbourview Grill was delicious, with great service. The rooms are spacious with lovely decor and the en-suite bathroom had a great shower with great water pressure. It was nice to see all the old photos of Campbeltown dotted round the hotel and in our room too. We had a great stay and hope to return for a longer one next time.

We had a comfortable stay, big rooms, comfy beds and the Anna on the front desk was lovely and helpful. It does need some more modern charging facilities for travellers. A fridge would also be helpful. I think it was extremely expensive (given our other Accom and was half the price with food included.we dined in their restaurant and the food was good, and big portions. Hotel is right near the water, close to supermarkets, the spring bank distillery and the leisure centre

Loses HALF a star for the room for lack of air conditioning. But we happened to be there during some (as we were told) unusually hot Scottish days :-) They did provide fans which were helpful.

The hotel is located in a beautiful area nearby Kilmarnock and Dumfries & Galloway. The hotel deserves to be named Royal Hotel because the staff will give the guests Roytal treatment. The rooms are immaculately clean and fresh. The food is exquisite in preparation and taste. Amenities are rated very good by other guests. If you are a golfers...there is a nearby golf ⛳️ course...in the evening you can enjoy a round of pint or two. ROYAL HOTEL is highly recommended to people who love pristine beauty of Dune and Argyll because the hotel is in the heart of the area. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be classified as a 5 star hotel. Review by Corazon Howatson of Dumfries
