Staff and hotel excellent. Staff polite and helpful. Rooms clean and welcoming. Food in restaurant good but service a bit slow due to staff shortages but we were in no rush. Defo recommend as central to everything

Popped into hotel bar on our stop from the Waverley Paddle Steamer trip. Restaurant was very busy so we ordered a bowl of soup and a drink at the bar. Great soup with fresh hot roll, friendly staff (they were run off their feet) and a comfy environment to stop in for an hour. Would recommend if you're in the area.

The Royal is a well refurbished hotel standing next to Campbeltown's harbour.|Along with the Black Sheep Pub [the hotel's bar], and the Harbourview Grille [the hotel's restaurant] it really is the best place to stay.|The hotel does NOT have it's own parking, but this was not a problem in June. Plenty of on street parking with no daft parking charges.|The rooms are pretty large indeed room 308 might be described as huge, and I do like a bathroom with a window, and a bath. Her ladyship like the separate walk in shower. Great views over the harbour.|The pub usually has a real ales on tap and serves the same menu as the restaurant.|The restaurant's breakfast is simply fabulous, and evening menu is just what one wants after a day exploring.

Restaurant review - decent menu. A load of meat in the steak pie, puff pastry piece on top, veg was perfectly cooked. Chips were nice. Parmesan Chicken was ok, nice but of chicken, only 1 small piece of garlic bread and a decent amount of spaghetti. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere, comfy chairs and decor is good. Plenty staff on.

A great hotel. Lovely views and the staff is very accommodating. Sad we could only stay one night. It will definitely be a stop on our next trip.

Stayed here on a 3 day break in the area. Warm welcome from the friendly lady on reception. Our room wasn't quiet ready, so she took us to the hotel bar and set us up with some free drinks. Room was very nice and had a lovely view of the harbour, looking lovely in the sunshine. Nice spacious room with lovely big bed and great linens. Huge wardrobe with lots of nice wooden hangers. Decent tv with sky and lots of chanels. All in the all the room was great and only niggle was no soap in the bathroom but we could have easily asked for this.||||Breakfast in the hotel was THE BEST we have ever had and was definately a 10/10. The dark hair lady who runs it is a total star and should be running the whole restaurant or even the hotel. She is super friendly, great sense of humour and also has fantastic attention to detail. Really enjoyed our interactions with her each morning. Their is a large continental selection with a great coffee machine. Also a very extensive cooked breakfast with EVERYTHING you could ever want.||||For an older hotel, its still looks very classic and has some really lovely features. Price wise its similar to the other hotels in Campbeltown but has the best location with the nicest view.||||We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first night and were impressed by the very extensive menu. We sat down at 7:30pm and our order was taken about 7:45pm, with our drinks quickly arriving. Time went by and by 8:45pm our starters hadn't arrived, so we did that typically british thing and decided to say nothing until 9pm. We called one of the young waitress's over and explained our situation, she apologised and said she would investigate straight away and would make sure we were compensated. A few minutes later our original waitress came over looking totally mortified and explained that she had accidently not placed our order. She was so so apologetic and said that everything would be on the house, including all drinks etc. Our food then quickly arrived and was DELICIOUS. I was really impressed by how they handled this and we left with a really positve opinion of the restaurant and have nothing but praise.||||All in all its a great hotel with some super lovely staff, a very good chef, best breakfast we have ever eaten and in a great location. Highly recommended.

Had a really good stay. Great location within Campbeltown with free on street parking and everything in walking distance.|Room was spacious and slept well. There are a few minor cosmetic repairs needed such as torn curtains but this didn't affect our stay.|Had a meal in the evening which was very nice and plenty of breakfast options in the morning. We would gladly stay again.

Popped in without booking and got a friendly reception. Cullen skink was perfect. Carbonara equally perfect Asked for a smaller portion at full price but girls wouldn’t hear of it so their tip went UP. Food matched the service 5* Thankyou 🙏
